    Bacon & Blue Burger
    Catherine N.

So, Romans is a nice homegrown spot in Downtown Asheville. I decided to order the blue cheese bacon burger and it did not disappoint! The service was nice and chill...definitely a hippy vibe. I ordered a side of fruit to take home with me and a coke. I would give Romans another try for sure.

On-line ordering was easy. The sandwiches are made with high quality ingredients but are on the pricier side given the portion size, which isn't huge. The side salads that come with the sandwiches were quite small in portion. The pasta salad was vinegar based tasting and was just ok. The potato was quite good. The fruit salad was fresh and included clementine, pineapple, and strawberry. The chicken salad is served hot and was the best of the three we ordered - Italian, chicken salad, and turkey cranberry pesto.

Had an impossible burger from here today and it was a total delight. Got it to go and the whole order was packed with care. The burger was hot and delicious and well seasoned. Highly recommend. The bun was not whole wheat but was fluffy. Great stuff on it too- the whole PLOT felt quality. Added cheddar and yum. The side of fruit was fresh and good but tiny. Like really tiny. Like two strawberries and two orange slices tiny.

1/29/2020- Wow small Little place with a big punch very nice menu. I got a bacon Swiss cheeseburger. The burgers shoes sorry I ate too fast came with a nice cold sore no vinegar that I can taste they don't have french fries no fryer the burger came with a pickle. Nicest thing is the packaging it's not Styrofoam or plastic it's cardboard , nice touch There's about 7-8 tables and it was busy.

The overall experience was just meh, but the BBQ burger was spot on. I don't even have a picture because we ate it so fast. The Italian was made Panini style and because the bread was thin and there was tomato and dressing it causes the meat to leave the bread when you bite. The pasta salad was okay, but bland. Now, I don't use cream in my white chicken chili and I'm not sure what other people do, but I didn't enjoy it at this place because of the amount of cream. The bottled soda was delish.

Oh how I love Roman's, but hate the the prices. I ordered a large salad this week, the key word is large! For the large salad and a drink it cost me a cool $24, which seems insane even for Asheville. The worst part is that my salad was shoved and stuffed into a half size to go box pictured here. If you are going to charge $20 bucks for a large salad it should come in a regular size "large" go box like all normal restaurants have.

We had a productive conversation in which we were both able to discuss the experience and come to a resolution. I am very grateful for the quick response, being open to call, and listen further. Thank you Benjamin! On another trip to Asheville, we will try it again..... ********************************************************** My family and I were quite excited about trying an unique restaurant and seen great reviews, however, our experience wasn't so great! Upon arriving at the restaurant, we had seen some items we wanted to try, but the sanitation grade on the door was a 90, so that quickly changed our food choice and should have changed our food experience for the evening. We decided to try it anyway! The hostess didn't know the menu very well and couldn't answer many questions without having to go ask someone each time. Once we ordered, my brother tried paying for the food a few times and she kept walking away. While waiting for our food, the same hostess "cleaned" a table for waiting guests by wiping the food from last guest onto the floor and leaving it there and continued to seat the next few tables, and then decided to come back and get the food swept up. I guess it's normal because another server did the same thing and that never got swept up. Our food (wings and brisket) was ready. The pan lid was not closed all the way due to them putting all 36 wings that had different flavors in the same container. We continued to inspect our food and the wings weren't hot (fresh), all three flavors in the same container, sauce was clumpy, and wings were very dark and dry looking. We couldn't tell which flavor was which. My husband tried conversing with a young man (tall, dark wavy hair), who couldn't or wouldn't attempt any service recovery with my husband and pretty much told us everything looked good to him leaving my husband frustrated. I located a manager told her what was going on and she evidently didn't have any empowerment from upper management to decide resolution because she had to go ask the general manager to resolve. The general manager agreed to "remake" the order which they did separate the flavors this time and they were warmer. Considering this was a remake the GM brought our order out to us and should have been apologetic, making sure everything was correct and was satisfactory to us. He literally handed my husband the bag and took off. My husband had to make a comment to him in order for the GM to acknowledge him. We definitely would love to speak to a corporate member and or owner, and will make a phone call to them. This was very disappointing, concerning, and a disheartening experience in Asheville!

We went all out with appetizers and main courses, and everything was excellent. For starters, my husband ordered the buffalo chicken bites and I got the fried pickles. Both were perfectly prepared, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. The burgers were the absolute highlight. I ordered the "Bacon Crunch" style Juicy Lucy, which came stuffed with cheese and topped with bacon jam, pickles, crisp bacon slices, and potato chips for a perfect crunch. My husband went for the "Lucy Loco" burger, which came loaded with jalapeños. Both burgers had incredible flavor, were an ample size, and hit the spot perfectly. The sides were just as impressive. I had the sweet potato fries, and my husband ordered the fried green beans--which were uniquely delicious and really well done. To top it all off, our server, Carla, was very nice and incredibly attentive throughout our meal. Juicy Lucy's is a must-visit, and I will definitely be stopping by again on my next trip to Asheville!

We started with the Dumplings appetizer along with some garlic herb Edamame and it was very good, we asked for eight shrimp and they were glad to adjust for us. Crispy and a nice crunch. It was a nice beginning. The soybeans were fresh and hot with a nice flavor also a good start. Next some Toro and Hamachi Sashimi, both were fresh and flavorful. Along with a California roll, it was true to type, nicely rolled and good flavor. Next I had the Sweet Heart Roll, an impressive presentation and work of art. Simply delicious and so flavorful. This was an excelleny choice. Then the Madness Fries, a pile of seasoned fries with a mound of shredded carb on top. This is simply insane, it was such a delicious bowl and the combination of salty fries with sweet crab. A winner. My partner had the Vegan, a beyond burger patty on a Millet Chai bun the way she wanted it and said it was very good too. We tried several different items and each was very good to better. If I was rating this place on the taste of the burgers alone, it would hands down be 5 stars. These are simply the best fast food burgers that you've NEVER HAD. In other words, fast food burgers reimagined with all the taste you crave, but without the crap ingredients and weird bloaty aftereffects. These are fast food burgers the way they should be. That said, the prices reflect that. The burgers are good sized with two patties, but they run $12 for a beef smash burger or $14 if you opt for the Impossible Burger (which you can get with regular "freedom cheese" and sauce or with vegan cheese and sauce). They offer a "combo" for $3 more, but it's a bag of chips and sour patch gummy candy for dessert. Based on that, my recommendation for now is to just go with the burger and enjoy it on its own. If the owners see this review, here's my suggestion: invest in a really good fryer and do the same thing you've done with fast food burgers, but for french fries, too. I'm sure frying units are a pain with the cooking oil, extreme heat and all, but it would be so great to have the FULL fast food experience reimagined. Service was friendly. Multiple indoor and outside seating options, and you can take the burgers over to any of the areas of DayTrip to enjoy your burger with a beer or cocktail. DayTrip's beer menu even includes a [canned] beer called Boy Howdy that DSSOLVR produces to go along with the Boy Howdy burgers. That's a better combo! This place is so much better than most burger places that even with the relatively pricey burgers, I'll go back. I'd go back more often if they served really great french fries along with the burgers!

I loved the macaroni salad. It was the reason I wanted to come in and I was happy! I sampled some shrimp and chicken from my guy's dish and they were both great-well seasoned and well prepared.
