I come here for lunch occasionally. They have some nice seating inside and you usually won't be on top of your neighbor. This place does a reasonable lunch business but it's not packed. Service is always pleasant here and the pizza is more than enough for leftovers. The salads are very generous as well. The desserts always look awesome and I see plenty order them. I never have room after lunch for dessert though. read more

It's good for lunch, but I was really disappointed for the dinner service. Surprised at the prices and it was just ok. $26 for chicken parm or pasta bolognese and yet we get salad forks? Seriously no adult dinner forks? I asked and baby forks is standard. Odd. But Good size portions, and very sweet staff. Lunch was fabulous before so I chose this as my birthday dinner spot and was really disappointed considering other options. Best deserts though! I'll stick to lunch next time. read more

I went to Romeo and Juliet's café to get some baked goods. This is the first time I've been in there to actually buy some thing. At the Italian festival, I had stopped by their stand to get some things and I was very impressed with the Napoleon, the peanut butter bomb, and my mother loved the eclair. My son, although at the festival had a tiramisu and thought it was really bad. I figured it was probably just cause it was sitting outside For so long and maybe they made too many of them and they weren't going or something? But, I bought a $9.00, tiramisu today and was so excited to give it to my son, and he was very excited to eat it. He took one bite of it, it seemed OK at first, and then he just blurted out how disgusting it was. He actually had to spit it out. I told him it can't be that bad and I don't even like tiramisu, but I was willing to take a bite to try it. I took a bite and all seemed fine at first, but then once you swallow, oh my God, disgusting !! It tasted like straight up vomit ! I kid you not, and I am not exaggerating, it tasted like puke !! Why pay nine dollars for vomit when you can get it free at home ? So that was a waste of money and I will never buy tiramisu from there again. BUT, again, I bought the Napoleon, the peanut butter bomb, two eclairs and a piece of carrot cake. Everything was delicious ! I will definitely go back and try more things because everything was looking so good but like I said, I will never buy tiramisu again. The cookies looked so good, the dining area smelled good. I would like to go and get some food from there too. other than just dessert. I wonder if there is anything not in the store, that they can make concerning Italian desserts. There's something I want so bad that I can't seem to find and I don't even know what it's called. I ended up spending $39 even, for the two eclairs, the peanut butter bomb, the Napoleon, the carrot cake and the $9 horrible tiramisu . Met with ex coworkers for lunch. They had a panini and loved it. They took half home for their husbands. There was a nice lunch special that came with a smaller panini and soup or salad but they opted for the full size panini. I had the spaghetti. It was delicious. Came with 5 or 6 meatballs. They were smaller in size and were delicious. I ate less than half so I was very happy to take half home and eat the next day. Service was very good, ordered the chicken piccata and husband had the ravioli. Chicken came with green beans but I would have rather than pasta with sauce as my side dish (that wasn't offered) chicken didn't have s nice, smooth lemony sauce. No salad came with it and I would have liked a salad with it. No small house salads only big ones. read more

Romeo & Juliet's stays one of the best spots there is. Consistently great. My go-to is the Rembrandt panini, which is a type of Caprese sandwich. I also like the Insalata Formaggio di Capra, which is a salad with mushrooms and goat cheese and a truffle oil vinaigrette. The peanut butter cake (also has chocolate) is IMMACULATE. Decent place. Food was good, nothing blew my socks off, but I would eat here again. I thought panini was a bit bland and could use some pesto, mayo, something with sauce or a flavor boost. Pizza was okay and I enjoy the little cup-style pepperoni they use. Tiramisu is a lot heavier on the coffee flavor than I'm used to. I think the chocolate bombe was my favorite of the visit. Staff was friendly. Loved the decor, although the tables felt a bit cramped to me. I will likely return to try some of the other desserts - the stuff in the case looked very tempting. read more

I've had a hankering for this for a while now. Back around 2000, I used to live around the corner and would go get the Quattro Formaggi for $5 special once a week. Well, I didn't feel like driving so we got DoorDash from Hertel Ave all the way to Sloan. Got my fav pizza and also we added a Margherita too and the whole family ate it for rhe next 2 days. Wasn't piping hot by the time it was delivered but that's not a short drive so the pics don't do it justice. Taste was awesome and I know they have some incredible desserts too. I've also been to the Sheridan Drive (near Evans) location and love their food & service as well. Highly recommended trying this place. read more

Amazing food and very nice staff. I finally made it to the Williamsville location and stopped in for some delicious desserts. We tried the chocolate cake, the tiramisu and the peanut butter ganache. My favorite was easily the PB one, i could eat if every day all day. I stopped back for dinner to go( because why not?) and we got the red pepper dinner, risotto ball dinner , soup and kids spaghetti with meatballs. Everything was amazing and huge portions. The owner is very kind and helpful explaining the menu. We will definitely back and I'll be trying the pizza next as it smelled amazing! I wish I had pictures but we ate it all! read more

If this restaurant was on my corner I would be there constantly! It's one of these places that has great food and a great ambiance. Where you want to sit with friends and savor your food and drinks winter or summer , people watch everyone on Hertel Ave and just enjoy life. So whenever we have friends from out of town we take them there. They make delicious brick oven pizza. The crust is light and crispy without leaving you feeling like you ate air pizza. The sauce is just right , not too sweet or too salty. So you aren't thirsty all day long!! Their bruschetta is that perfect sweet fresh tomato blend. Crusty bread without the sharp edges that cut the roof of your mouth! And everyone wants the last piece ,looking at it but trying to be polite. Not one bad bite. Their dessert case.... well for me the reason to eat a meal is to get to dessert. I simply can't just have dessert after dinner but I almost always take a box of goodies home for later. The cassata cake, the cannolis the cookies and those little tiny pies filled with something like cannoli filling.... oh so good. I don't think you can pick anything you won't like. At least I haven't found anything yet. There are several locations with hours that you should look up. If you can eat in , Hertel Ave is just such fun with the windows or the outdoor seats. I've been a long-time fan of the desserts here but just got around to trying the food today. I ordered the baked eggplant parm. It was good. It wasn't exactly what I picture when I read baked...parm, but it was good and enough that I had it for both lunch and dinner. I also ordered a piece of the Cassata cake and that was excellent as was the cream puff that my roommate ordered. For his lunch he ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. He really enjoyed the sauce but didn't care for the meatballs. Both of our meals came with a generously sized piece of ciabatta bread and a delicious olive tapande. I look forward to trying their panini next time. Some more notes about the desserts: there are several different types of cake which you can order as a slice or an entire cake. The Italian cookies are fantastic as are the cannoli and tiramisu. read more

Response was well you shouldn't have ordered something you didn't know you might have not liked and charged them for it. Went on a dinner date at the Hertel avenue location. The only bad part was trying to find parking. It took a long time to finally find a spot somewhere and we had to walk a bit to get to the restaurant. Other than that it was a great experience! I just stopped in to pick up some dessert. They have a whole dessert case filled with cakes, cannolis, cookies, and other treats. They also had slices of pizza and fresh breads and a cooler off to the side filled with pizza dough balls, ready made pizzas, and small celebratory cakes available for purchase. The decision was tough but I opted for a slice of peanut butter torte. Layers of peanut butter between layers of moist chocolate cake. For sure a rich dessert but soooooo good. R&J's has been one of my favorite Italian restaurants for over 10 years. Because it is so unpretentious and unassuming, friends have been surprised that it is often my go-to for special occasions. But it is an easy choice for me - the interior is charming and unique (looks like a little Italian plaza inside), and each and every food item is delicious! I've had everything here from appetizers, to pizzas, to entrees, and of course to desserts. It's ALL great! The sauce is on the sweeter side, which I love. My go-to items are eggplant parm or lasagna. For desserts, you can't go wrong with any - their bakery is one of the best in Buffalo. But if you are a fan of carrot cake I highly recommend you order it. It's stellar. A pandemic update: I recently ordered take-out through Uber Eats. The food was just as good as if I had dine-in. It arrived nice and hot, nicely boxed, and everything was just as delicious as I remembered. I was also pleasantly surprised with how fresh and tasty the tiramisu was! This cute little bakery/cafe offers a pizza, antipasto/insalata, and panini menu, but the real draw is the dessert case. We went here for the first time because the restaurant we'd planned on was closed, but I had always wanted to try it. So glad we did. Lunch there was pretty good, a tuna melt on large ciabatta-like bread, but nothing to write home about. Although the bread was perfectly crusty on the outside, soft on the inside with just the right saltiness, the tuna mixture was bland and uninteresting. My kids split a gigantic ham and cheese panini, which they loved. I had a taste of the bread and it was also fantastic, but I'm not a fan of ham so I can't say much else about it. The desserts, though. We brought home a slice of lemon and a slice of chocolate peanut butter cake that the family shared. Both were perfect - not too dense, not too light, rich without being overbearing, sweet but not at the expense of tasting the mingled flavors in each cake. At a later date, I sent my husband back for the sfogliatelle - having no idea what it was called but a clear craving for that flaky sugar-dusted, cream filled croissant type thing in the bakery case. Let me tell you. Try the sfogliatelle. Look up how to pronounce it first. It's a lovely springy pastry - I think maybe made with semolina flour? - filled with a tangy custard cream flavored with some kind of citrus and hint of liqueur, dusted with powdered sugar. It's a cute place (Wmsville location) - small but nice. People are friendly and the desserts are amazing. Only thing I don't like is that there is absolutely NOTHING else on the plate when you get a panini - no pickle, no chips, no side of ANYTHING. It's not an inexpensive place and this just seems really cheap to not offer some small side with a sandwich. Can't think of anywhere else that doesn't at least give you a pickle.... read more

I can't say I've ever really been disappointed by Romeo and Juliet's. I've only ever visited the Hertel location, this last trip during Covid times. We were looking for a spot to enjoy patio dining on a Friday evening on Hertel, and while driving by we noticed a table open here so we popped in to snag it. There were several people inside waiting to pick up to-go orders, and several tables of people eating inside. The food all sounded delicious and we had quite a hard time choosing. I went with the stuffed gnocci with bolonese, and my friend chose the lobster ravioli with garlic and butter sauce. Both dishes were amazing. I just wish we had had room for dessert because they looked crazy good as we walked by on our way out. read more

Came here on a Friday night for dinner and sat outside. The waitress was extremely nice and tentative. She made suggestions based on what we were interested in. We had bread and an olive spread to start for the table. The spread was good but I would have preferred butter or oil. The food was overall very good but the dessert was delicious. I wish I had ordered cheese for the spaghetti and meatballs though. I finished with a cannoli. L I recommend getting the chocolate chip one! If you eat it in-house they will add a whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. read more
