    False advertising

Trask Sampson is an incredibly unprofessional, disrespectful, and rude sales manager. At the end of the sales negotiation, Trask swoops in with no context and resorted to name calling, terms such as "spoiled little br*t" directed at me. As well as "I'm telling you no which is something you clearly have never been told." Absolutely horrible behavior from a grown man. Spoke down on me, my profession, and attempted to belittle me. I felt I struck a cord for him being a young woman just trying to buy her first car at a good price. No matter how irritated you are, there is never an appropriate time to have that language with a client. In addition, the car was falsely advertised on the website. Claimed to have a sunroof/moonroof on the page and when I came in person that amenity was not present. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. That behavior should not be tolerated in a professional environment nor do I feel comfortable supporting a business that allows that to happen. As a woman, it is already difficult to navigate purchasing a car alone. You cannot tell me that Trask Sampson would use that kind of language on a man for being stern and trying to get a good price on a vehicle. I instead took my money to Royal Moore Mazda where I was treated with respect and bought the exact car I wanted with all the appropriate features advertised.

They weren't pushy. That's everything to me. They helped me find a really nice car and helped me to avoid purchasing a really bad car from another dealer. It's like the salesperson, Rafael Alimamedov knew exactly what I wanted. I was given explanations of The car's settings, he set up my Mazda phone connected service app and Took some of his own time AFTER The sale to show me the cars automation features. . I was sold different warranties that were easily sold because they're protecting my vehicle. That is important and worth the time to really understand what you're getting and be sure to ask alot of questions. There was a lot of things going on at once. The experience with Mazda has been very good too. I did cancel the GAP on Mazda Financial services website in a timely fashion with a Mazda rep on the phone. I decided to make a bigger payment on the PRINCIPAL so I didn't need the GAP. They have a really nice showroom and take pride in selling quality cars that you'd be proud to own They have friendly sales representatives that treat you like you're a valued customer. And they're willing to explain how the car works the more more immediate thing you need to know. Mazda has a great online car manual which is easy to use). And a manual comes with the purchase the car. As far as the purchase of the maintenance insurance and extended warranty, we'll see how the service department does on maintenance and I'll come back for a rating on that but separately. I'll also come back to rate how well the service department does. And I'll rate if The pre paid maintenance is worth it. I have confidence that it will go well on part with The total experience. quality cars and quality employees. My only complaint is that all cars nowadays are too expensive!

I get the best service from Ron Tonkin Mazda Bobby is a service representative there. I always ask for him. He is extremely efficient and thorough when caring for my new car. He makes sure the service technician is aware of my concerns and then follows up with me with advice from the technician. I will always take my Mazda here for its service. Bobby is worth the drive from north Vancouver.

My purchasing experience of a brand new 2023 vehicle with Tonkin Mazda of Portland has been taunting. It started with me calling and talking with Sales Professional, Troy Walker. Troy was very persistent in communication as he'd call and text me every chance of the day he can get (for reference this was the last week of March when this all happened). On the last day of March, Troy kept asking me if I could come to the dealership to make the deal happen and I would be in and out within an hour with my new car. Spoiler alert: this did not happen. What ended up happening was a long discussion that went from 4 PM to 8:30 PM where Troy drove back to my place of residence to grab a physical check from me. During those hours of discussion, there was a lot of up selling of add-ons and additional services to be added to my vehicle purchase when I had already discussed with Troy in the weeks beforehand what I wanted with no frills. Each time I tried to shut Troy down on an add-on I didn't want, Troy would ask me why I didn't see value in the items they offered. And in each argument, I'd tell Troy I'm loyal to Mazda's stance on their long-lasting product and I don't need to drop an additional grand on an extended warranty for a power train when I have full confidence in the brand more than Honda, and Toyota. Anyways, I also met Jack Petrino, the Sales Manager that Troy would go back and forth with very often whenever we needed new printouts (this happens a lot). In the end, I managed to walk out with a new vehicle. If you ever do try to purchase a new vehicle at this location, be prepared to spend a lot of time talking and have lots of quotes from local shops for any add-ons you need. I found Royal Moore Mazda in Hillsboro to be a lot easier to speak with, so if the car of your choice happens to be there, I'd do business with them instead. Also, if you get the XPEL PPF (paint protection film) as I did with Mazda, please note that they do not do the service in-house and rather they outsource it to an unknown shop (I haven't been told who). You may be better off contacting various shops in the Portland area to get a much better deal on PPF than Mazda sells it for. And if you get Troy, don't let him downplay your quotes from local shops for a PPF because he will ask whether labor is priced in, yes they all are.

Eventually I sold the Prius (over 200k on the original battery, and going strong!). I bought a 2015 Chevrolet Volt, and got into the habit of having the Tonkin Chevrolet dealership maintain it (I recall I checked and Atomic Auto wasn't in a position to do work on it back then). But over the years, the dealership kept increasing their prices, and I just wasn't happy. So, I decided to go back to Atomic Auto. I'm glad I did. First off, I like how they have invested in simple technology/tools. They have a good system to text with you, so that you don't need to get on the phone. I love that. Their system includes photos, and detailed notes. Also, I like that they have an after-hours drop-off, *and* an after-hours pick-up. I also have found them to be honest in terms of the services. As my old Prius aged, I was getting an occasional error. They told me what was going on, and gave me a low-cost way to maintain it (spraying some mass airflow spray into the intake). It helped keep that guy on the road (heck, it's probably still driving today). Finally, I have found their services to be complete. I complained to the dealership about a super-obvious sound coming from my wheels when I turned, and the dealership said they couldn't re-create it (which seems sus, since it was super obvious and re-creatable). I didn't even mention it to Atomic, but they picked up on it during a test drive, and diagnosed it easily. I'm looking forward to keeping my Volt going for many years to come with the help of this crew.

But, I had an independent mechanic conduct a pre-purchase inspection and also purchased a five year extended warranty. The mechanic found no major issues, so I felt comfortable buying it. I made the trip from Chico California to Portland by Amtrak (14 plus hours) so that I could see and drive it for myself. Unfortunately, in the 20-25 minutes it took the Uber driver to go from Amtrak to their office, upon walking into the lot saw a major dent on the driver side door. The salesperson stayed a parking lot attendant had hit the vehicle causing significant damage to the door and panel to the right of the door. I would have had a body shop give an estimate but it was after 5 pm on a Friday (March 24, 2023) by the time I got to the dealership and the salesperson assured me there was no structural damage. There was no reasonable way to stay Friday, Sat and Sunday to get a quote(s) from at least one or two body shops that Monday. The owner indicated it would only cost them $1000 to fix it and they'd ship it to me. Not wanting to trust their work I requested they agree to pay the cost based on at least three quotes in Chico. They said no and settled on only covering me for $2500. I should've known better but was exhausted and didn't want to take a train back. It was exceedingly bad decision to acquiesce and am now stuck with this problem. I got completely ripped off because the damage to the vehicle that they did, supposedly in the 20 minute ride from Amtrak. For all I know is the damage happened days before I left Chico and they knew if I got there after traveling such a long distance I'd be less likely to walk away. Now I'm looking at least spending another $6000 to repair the damage because of structural damage to the driver side door post, having to replace the driver side door with a new down, and damage further down. I would never recommend this company as they clearly knew this vehicle had more substantial damage than what they indicated. Making it more skeevy was the salesperson telling me they would be fixing it in house & would only cost the owner $1000 to make the repairs. In retrospect, it tells me they're either ignorant, incompetent or outright deceptive. Let my crappy decision serve as a warning that you will likely get ripped off. Do not use this company because the salespeople and owner are unscrupulous. If I could give less than a one star I would.

I told him that the camera had worked perfectly EVERY time I put the Tahoe in reverse ever since I purchased it until his shop serviced it that day and asked him to have the technician that worked on the vehicle undo whatever he did to make it stop working. After three "attempts" to fix the issue over several weeks, he gave up and admitted that they hadn't even tried to figure out the problem because he said that, by working on the AC, they hadn't came anywhere near the information center where the camera picture would normally appear. Through the entire process he continued to gaslight me by insisting that it had been an intermittent problem BEFORE I took it to them for the AC service. Bottom line; they never fixed the issue and I still don't have a working backup camera and now I have to find a new, reliable garage to service my vehicles.
