I hired Ronin to do an in-home pest inspection and was told in advance there would be an $80 fee. After the inspection, I visited their website and found that they advertise free inspections. When I called to ask about the discrepancy, I expected a simple explanation. Instead, the manager, Alejandra, became rude and combative, accused me of wanting something for nothing, and told me to "read the fine print." The problem is that there was no fine print. Rather than addressing a reasonable question, she became defensive and dismissive. Between the misleading advertising and the appalling customer service, I would strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. ***An UPDATE in response to what the company representative wrote: The company representative claims the free inspection offer is subject to terms and conditions. However, the webpage I referenced contains no such disclosure. If it had, there would have been no confusion. I used to really appreciate the service of Ronin. I kept using them in spite of their pricing almost doubling since I started using them. Today when I called for a return visit for rodent removal, they said they would be out in 3 days. When I emphatically explained there was a dead rodent in my home, they put me on hold a second time and said the next day. Only after asking a third time if I could get an apppoint today, they finally said they could do that. I then was told their policy was to bill an additional $350 pest removal fee. Since this was the last of my previous paid, three visits, I found this to be just outrageous. Futhermore, when I asked to speak to a manager, they never bothered to return my call. They had another clerk repeat what the first said, and generally talking down to me. "Didn't you hear what the last employee told you?" A good lesson to me and other would be customer to shop elsewhere where customers are appreciated versus alienating and mistreated! read more

First off, I would say communications have been strong so far with customer service and with the first inspector and between the inspector, customer service and the licensed pest control expert providing the service. Usually, something is dropped between this communication but this wasn't the case. Not only did i get prompt communications, reminders, and an early notification before arrival. Nothing discussed with either of the three was lost in translation. Everyone responded very quickly whether emails, phone calls, or texts messages. Even much later in the day. Sometimes i see a slow down when it gets close to closing. That wasn't the case here. 7 pm and i got a response to my questions right away. First inspector, Jesus, was very professional and understanding of my situation. He not only answered my questions with ease, but also provided recommendations and was very kind and thorough about it. Luis Enrique was the individual who performed the subterranean termite prevention (trench, foam wall voids, and filling up the holes properly, etc.). I have to say i had an excellent experience considering the good communications, thorough and professionalism along with the flexibility and strong code of conduct. Luis is not only hardworking and diligent, but also very adaptable. He quickly found a solution whenever encountering a problem from something as simple as operating on a hill that required attention, etc. I also appreciate the pictures in the report. It's nice to be able to document what was done for my own reference but for future reference as well in case we sell the property, etc. I have had experience with others before and i can tell you communication was always a challenge and it really depends who you get to service you. Sometimes they are great and sometimes they are lazy. All i can say is this was not my experience with Ronin. Overall, very satisfied with my experience with Ronin Pest Control. read more

Jonathan thoroughly inspected the property and set both interior and exterior traps. He also gave helpful advice on how to fix the exterior vent seal and crawlspace door to help prevent rodents from getting into the house. He was friendly, professional, and called about 10 minutes in advance before arriving. The only thing worth mentioning is that both times he visited, he called ahead to ask if he could arrive later than the original appointment window. It wasn't an issue for me since my schedule was flexible, so I didn't lower my rating because of it. read more

We have a toddler and aging dogs and decided to stash our nice dining room rug upstairs for the densest part of the food throwing/potty training/canine incontinence period of our lives. Instead of getting dirty, the rug was quietly ingested by moths, who found the wool quite delicious and good for laying eggs. Moths had also gotten into our primary closet, eating a couple of holes in my husband's suit (insultingly, they got to the pants several months after we had the jacket rewoven). We decided enough was enough and found Ronin Pest Control on Yelp. Ronin is a local family-owned business, but it's big enough to be responsive and professional. I called and a technician came out the next morning, a very nice dude named Willian. He went through our whole house and made recommendations based on the moth activity he observed. He went floor by floor, room by room, closet by closet, and the proposal accounted for every space. We wanted the moths taken care of so our house would stop feeling creepy, and booked the treatment for the following week. The prep was extensive and burdensome, as it involved emptying every closet and cleaning all of the clothes. I have never done so much laundry in my life. The treatment itself was reasonably straightforward. We just had to vacate the house for a few hours so we didn't inhale toxic chemicals. We stayed away all day to be safe and returned to a house in disarray, but at least free of moths, with a 45-day guarantee. This cost $1,200, and since Ronin is in the business of making money, they also offered a complimentary termite inspection. Adrian came out and did a thorough inspection, and it did not surprise me when he found some activity underground and in our dilapidated deck. He wrote up an estimate that included a whole suite of preventative treatment, running like $8,000, even with a courtesy 10% discount. I told him we were getting rid of the deck anyway, and he said I could get away with just the subterranean treatment, and that they'd throw in the deck while they were at it. Ronin followed up, both by email and phone, though in a way that was somehow not incredibly annoying. I think I just like the people there and respect their hustle. I said I was hesitant to spend that kind of money on a non-emergency, but that I did want to get rid of the termites underground. I mentioned my conversation with Adrian and asked for a new estimate, then booked the treatment for the following day. This time, the technician was a guy named Jesus, and he was courteous and communicative and spent a lot of time under my house and in my backyard, where he had to dig a little trench around the garage. It was all more labor intensive than I'd imagined, and maybe I'm stupid, but it made me feel like it had to be effective. There is, ultimately, an element of faith involved in pest control. You call professionals to kill bugs that are often out of sight, and you believe that it worked until you see them again. So far, I feel like whatever Ronin did worked. I'm sure we'll get more moths and termites at some point in this century-old house, and I'm glad to know who to call. read more
