After hearing about Ron's for months, we finally decided to check it out this weekend. I'd heard about their monthly darts tourneys (first Fridays of each month), but I hadn't been. We'll definitely make it a point to check that out soon. Ron's is nestled in a little strip mall near the Galleria, just far enough away from the main roads that you can escape the traffic. As the website explains, when they merged with the next door bar, the shape of bar turned into a fun horse shoe that kind of gives it a nice divide so it never gets too loud. There were plenty of tvs in there for sports fans (I hear you can catch all the great soccer/futbol games here) and a trivia tourney on Sunday nights. We ordered the shepherd's pie (there weren't a lot of food options) and it was surprisingly tasty. The beer was more than decently priced and they had a pretty good selection. Bartenders were a bit slow but really friendly. I blame the shape of the bar for the wait since it is pretty hard to serve both sides when you can't see what's happening on the other side. The lines for the dart boards seemed off just a bit. One board we played on seemed just a tad bit too close and another was a tad bit too far. Course, I could be wrong and maybe my three beers just hit me harder than I thought they did! All in all, this was a great place to hang out and relax. I love the idea of having a nice little haven near the Galleria that I can hide out in while I wait out the traffic. read more

This place is 100% dive bar. It's dark, a bit musty in smell, and you can probably point out the regulars. For the location, drink prices are good with premiums running under $7. You can't beat the drink prices. Several dart boards are set up, they have a patio and offer food service which comes from Cliffs next door. You can go through a doorway and there are more dart boards, another bar, and more space. Staff was not all that friendly I thought. They weren't rude, I just didn't get a good vibe from them. Esp having to flag them down while sitting right in front of them with an empty glass. Overall, I wouldn't take a date here unless you're testing their tolerance. It's more of a local neighborhood bar. Its casual, cheap, and probably more suited for people who can be regulars. read more

What makes a perfect Neighborhood bar? Go here and you'll see. My "goto" bar. Drinks are strong and reasonable, the bartenders are on the ball, and the crowd is friendly. It's the type of place where everyone feels comfortable. They have darts, but that's it. It's like 4 bars in one, and each is separated. On the right, a lounge with comfortable chairs and a few couches. It's dark, low key, and usually filled with the post 60 crowd before 7PM. After 7pm it's for those that just want someplace quiet to have a few drinks. On the left, darts, crowded, more noise, and for the 20 to 40 crowd. One of the best local dives in the Galleria area. Parking lot is super small, but luckily we are within 5 minutes walking distance. Great place for locals- a lot of people know each other here. Friendly patrons & friendly staff. Any Sunday we have gone here, there was free food. They have 60 ounce pitchers for $9.50 on Sundays, you can't beat it! I usually just have a Diet Coke or a club soda when I go there, and they are nice enough to not even charge me. Couch seating, table seating, outdoor seating, and TV's both indoor and outdoors. Darts too! Great service, laid back, friendly people, and easy on the wallet. This a 'Cheers' kind of establishment. read more

Ron's Pub to thy name!!! What's not to like about this diamond in the rough. First off, this townie bar decorated in old soccer memorabilia is the only good bar in a 5 mile radius. Growing up close to here and now living in Midtown, it's a great place to meet old friends in a relaxed environment. Located by Ron's are two of my favorite restaurant's in Houston ( Fountain View Cafe and La Vista) reviews to come...so it's a big plus to eat at those two places then grab a drink or three. After spending Christmas all day with the fam I met some friends here for the new found favorite beer Fireman's 4. They have a good beer on tap selection and the bar tenders are very personable. The cigarette machine compliments the two small but sufficient outdoor patios. If you are a fan of the bar game called darts, their is usually some really good competition here on the four dart boards. Word of advice watch someone play a game first before you challenge him/her to some money. I guess the thing I like most about this bar is that it is full of different ages and personalities yet everyone is getting along having a good time in a dimly lit environment. Wow!!! I've lived in the Memorial Villages area for 8 months, and I just discovered this wonderful establishment! Having moved from midtown, I was used to being surrounded by a variety of bars with options every night of the week... I moved to Piney Point, and the only options I have are where to go to church or which private school to send my nonexistent children to (neither appeal to my interests). Thank goodness for Ron's! This place has all the charm and comfortable anonymity that I look for in a bar! I went on a Tuesday, and there was a good crowd but plenty of room (with seats) for more! A-ok...I wouldn't drive OTL to this pub, but as it is in the perfect HH location to my office, I could see myself going back for more. This is a "Cheers" bar through and through. The regulars have been regulars for, well, probably decades. It's a nice big space, dart boards a plenty. I do dig the loungy table and chairs though...very retro. The service is decent, but I am not sure they are there to serve...they are more like hanging out and giving you a drink sometimes. And the rumors are true...there are a lot of dudes! This is a great place to come relax and relax. Something for everyone. You have friendly Staff. Lots of drink options and beer choices. There are TVs and an amazing Liverpool Supporters Club. The nicest kinfolk of people you can ever be part of. They are a family. To top it off they have a beautful patio so you can just go catch some fresh air with TVs to catch the latest action in sports news and whatnot. I love Ron's because A) it's a 2 min drive from my condo and B) it's a great chill spot. The bartendars are always very nice and fast here. The crowd is a great neighborhood crowd that is a hodgepodge of people. It is not at all pretentious which is a nice relief from some other parts of Houston. If you are just looking to sit back and have a couple drinks while catching up with friends or play a round of darts or golden tee this is the place to stop by if you are in the neighborhood. read more

Ron's is not bad. They certainly have a focus on darts, which is good. It's a pretty open area, with most of the seating out of the way of traffic. They don't serve food, but the Cliff's Hamburgers next door will bring your food over. I'm not a big fan of the happy hour, because it can get a wee bit crowded, mostly white collar Galleria folks, but the crowd thins out by 7 or so. The bartenders, particularly a guy named John, are great here. I've never had to wait more than a minute to be served. I really like the fact that if there's a lull at the bar, they don't sit around staring at the wall, but they will do a lap of the tables, pick up your dead soldiers, and bring you some more if need be. They're some of the most attentive bartenders I've come across. Recommended for any dartaholics. read more

Ron's.... oh yes, it is truly like Cheers. Really chill local pub where you feel like you just walked into someone's house party and amongst friends you haven't seen in a while. Actually that is almost true, at least in my experience! Fun place to go unwind with friends, groups, or just whatever you're in the mood for. It's not fancy, it's a drinkin and hangin spot. It gets five stars because their staff and service is awesome! John, Scott, Louise, Felicia, Jackie and Howie are amazing bartenders and take very good care of their customers. I went in to this establishment just because I was looking for a place to kill some time. I had an amazing conversation with the bartender and decided to come back with some friends. Now it has been many years and I can always trust in this establishment to pour me good drinks and provide good service. Its not the flashiest joint in the world if thats what you are in to, but what it lacks in appearance it makes up for with good service, good drinks and good music. read more

Ron's has a large group of regulars, mostly men. Several tv's for watching games and 5 dart boards spread out over the bar. With two different rooms, an outside patio, a megatouch machine and a great juke box. This isn't the kind of place you go to get rowdy or dressed up. It's a place you frequent with your friends during the week for an after work beer or a night cap. It's dark and smells old, but it's cozy. I enjoy this place with a small group of good friends where you can sit and talk. You can hear each other and get affordable, good selections on alcohol. read more

A bare bones, enjoyable spot in a tiny little strip center on Fountain view. This place looks and feels ancient when you walk inside (in that it looks like it has not been updated since the 70's). There is a wrap around bar with darts and other pub entertainment on one end, tables and couches on the other end. A handful of TV's turned to sports. An old moldy carpet that looks like it has never been cleaned before. Plenty of beer on tap. Though a lot of crap on tap as well. Can't go wrong with Saint Arnold or Real Ale however. I went here last night for the first time, and it's a cozy neighborhood spot. As a soccer supporter, I felt at home with all the soccer scarves, sports pictures, etc. on the walls. Since the place is really more of a pub as opposed to a sports bar, there aren't a lot of big screen televisions. However, there are two rooms and an outdoor patio. The place starts hopping around 6-6:30pm. The long islands were $7.50, and they weren't bad. The bartender kept asking if I was okay while waiting for my friend. I docked one star for lack of food, but you can order from Cliff's next door, who will deliver to you. I should've done this and will keep in mind for the future. A friend of mine feels the place is a bit dingy with its carpet, and it's pretty dark inside, but I liked the place due to its homey atmosphere. read more

Ron's Pub is a nice little spot in an area with not too many options. The large number of darts flying around can be a bit disconcerting at first, but you get used to it. The service is usually quite good, with extra props for John, who's a great bartender. As has been mentioned before, this is not a place to preen or to get rowdy--more of a "come on over for a chat over beers" kinda place. The place is a bit grimy, but in a cosy sort of way. The clientele is mostly locals, but is quite diverse--you can find all kinds of people on any given night. Thursday is a pretty good night to come, if you're a beer drinker--all domestic drafts go for $2, if memory serves me right. read more

There is a patio (fenced sidewalk out front) for smokers, and plenty of tables insides if your group is 5+. I've been coming to Ron's Pub a long time. The reason why they are getting 3 stars is for their 3 Stars, Howard, Pruitt (Andrew) and Shayna. Howard is quick with the beers and he feeds the Bar of his own pocket. Pruitt is funny and a real sweetheart, Shayna goes without saying. She's a doll. Let's talk about Jeremy. He's rude and crude. You get a drink when he feels like giving you one. He's rude to all new customers, old customers, etc. I'm very disappointed that the owner and her daughter will not not take the time to visit with EVERYONE in the bar. After all we pay your bills. And if they took the time then they would hear just how rude and nasty Jeremy really has been. Screw the reviews of some of these folks because you're probably not a regular. I am. Went there on a slow night. The first 3 beers I ordered were out of stock. Not a big deal. The place is kind of dark and ugly but this is probably intentional.The bar staff was very friendly. I worried slightly that a dart would hit me but I was probably being paranoid. People there are happy and there were even people who appeared 60-70ish.
