She went out of her way and even though I'm fine eating alone, it really was appreciated and reminded me that it's not what you say, it's how you make people feel that they remember. I will remember her out of the way kindness more than anything. There looked to be a lot of regular customers, mostly couples, who knew each other. It got pretty busy by the time I left at 6:25 or so. The facility was somewhat outdated and dark, but it worked. J-taps is worth a visit for lunch, dinner or a couple drinks.

I'm surprised to see this place have only a 3 star rating. This place is soooo good. I'm so glad we have them on the west side. The menu is pages & pages long. They have something for everyone and everything I've had here has been great. Sauerbraten, hot bacon slaw, fried shrimp, ribs, crab cakes and the desserts are all outstanding. They're most famous for their fried chicken and I recently tried their fried chicken buffet. It's available on Monday & Tuesday nights. I don't usually eat fried chicken often but decided to try it and man, was it good - just about the best I've ever had. The buffet is fairly small but adequate and everything is delicious. Besides fried chicken they have mashed potatoes & gravy (very good), green beans, corn, French fries, some of the best German potato salad I've ever had, fruit, cole slaw & dinner rolls are also available. In addition to the buffet, at no additional cost, you can have your server bring you a tossed salad or their hot bacon slaw. Beverages & desserts aren't included with the buffet but I highly recommend trying one of their pies - even if you get it to take home like I did. read more

Ron's Roost has lost a life long customer - and I mean LIFE long. We recently celebrated our grandmothers 100th birthday at Ron's Roost. She has gone there since they opened their doors. The week before her birthday we catered her party from Ron's Roost and the day of her birthday nine of us had dinner at the restaurant - they made a tidy sum from us in seven days time. I don't look for handouts but you would think the management would have offered her a dessert on the house. Nope. The fried chicken was really good but not worth the 40 minute drive, in that there are other places we've eaten with fried chicken that was just as good. We also ordered the French Dip.
