I met hubby here one night after he got out of work. We made it just in time for the lady 15 minutes of happy hour. Parking is pretty grim but the turnover it frequent. You just have to be patient and stalk a bit. This is a college area restaurant so I didn't have high expectations. Surprisingly, though, most of what we had was pretty good. Before hubby arrived, I ordered us two margs. The HH special was half-priced margaritas and sangria. The margaritas come in three sizes (16, 32, 64 ounces) but only the single is available at the discount price. I opted for the Something Waco, with Banhez mezcal and a tajin rim. It was nice but a bit too sweet for my taste. We ended up ordering two more later in but they were still pretty sweet. We had their guac & chips and naked wings, to start. They were pretty good. I ordered three a la carte tacos, two fried fish and one steak. They were OK. The steak tasted like steak-umms which threw me, and the fish taco was kind of bland. Hubby had their creamy chimichurri steak bowl and liked it. It was on their specials menu. I had a taste and it was good to me as well. We had a decent meal and the service was good. The staff was patient with us as we took a while to order our items. I wouldn't mind coming back another time, perhaps with friends, to watch a game or something. Great place for Taco Tuesday or any other night of the week. They have daily specials which were reasonably priced. One Tuesdays they have buy two tacos get one free which worked for me. I started off with a Sangria (during happy hour) and it was very good. I ordered the fish, lobster and cajun shrimp tacos with the Mexican corn. The fish and lobster were very good but I didn't really care for the shrimp - it didn't have much seasoning or taste. That corn though was really good - I had it on the cob but you can get it off the cob if you want. I ended with the brownie with vanilla ice cream not that was absolutely delicious! So glad i found this random taco spot when looking for a meal one day. I was originally going to go to the restaurants next door when their TACOS sign drew my attention. I Love me some tacos. When we first entered the waiter greeted and and allowed us to take our time looking through the menu before deciding if we wanted to dine. When we decided to sit in, we wanted a corner and they respectly had one of their employees Move from our table to allow us to be seated. We looked at the menu which was physical, not a QR code and we ordered three nonalcoholic drinks. It was the hibiscus tea water, raspberry lemonade And peach Arnold Palmer. All the drinks were delicious but my favorite of them all was the hibiscus. We decided to get the Mexican corn and the guacamole and chips as appetizers. To be honest it was one of the first times I have ever gone to a Mexican restaurant that perfectly balanced the guac and chips without having leftovers of chipS. The Mexican corn was alright but that's because I'm not a fan of mayonnaise. The aDuya rice bowl was probably the best for the buck from the restaurant. It was a huge bowl and the food was seasoned so well!!! My best friend decided to make her own rice bowl with teriyaki chicken. I'm not gonna lie I did enjoy the tacos but that rice bowl, especially for the price and quantity, was BOMB! Some of the tacos that we got were the Buffalo cauliflower (wrapped in lettuce), Kung pao shrimp with black sesame seeds, tequila lime taco, coconut shrimp taco, and the steak chimicurri taco. The chicken tequila lime was very spicy as it seemed someone took a handful of jalapeños and threw it on the top. That was truly the only flavor I got from this one. And the avocado was already browned. The chipotle shrimp taco was also underwhelming. The mango was very much unripe and hard/crunchy. The chipotle on the shrimp wasn't prominent. Ok so the wife and I were in the mood for Mexican and looking to try a new place and this came up on my search in yelp. Reading the reviews I figured I had to give it a shot. One of my pet peeves is a Mexican place that does not bring chips and salsa to the table, it's like an Italian restaurant not bringing bread to the table, it should be a staple! Anyway my wife told me to get over and not be so cheap and just get the guacamole and chips. The chips had a nice crisp and a slight taste of salt but not over bearing, the guacamole had great flavor and a nice kick to it, my wife did not like the spicyness of it, if they included tomatoes in it, it would become my favorite of all time! My daughter had the cheese quesadilla and was a fan, she took it out of my hand when I went to try it, so that means two things, 1. She really liked it or 2. She was starving because she did not like what they gave her at day care for lunch, I'm going with option 1. My wife had two tacos, I know for sure the coconut shrimp and I think the beer battered one. She said they were amazing and fresh and full of flavor. I had the fajita wrap which was great nice flavor in the dipping sauce and very cheesy!! My wife also had these garlic plantains she said they were very good I liked the garlic dipping sauce with them. And to finish the meal off who could resist dessert. I had the churros and she had the tacos. The tacos came in a bath of ice cream, honestly I think the guy just forgot about it in the heating window, it was soup with taco shells in it with chocolate chips. The churros were good nice and fresh, chocolate sauce was a nice touch but I would have preferred caramel or raspberry sauce. A lot of food coma to a large amount when it comes to pay, we each had an adult beverage and the bill was closed to 100.00. I will be back and I will be bringing friends. I mostly cook at home and rarely order out but WTG has been our go to when in need of a night off and great tacos. Husband and I always order the same thing - the Buffalo chicken taco, the beer battered fish taco and the steak chimichurri taco. Two of each. I'm usually happy to make this takeout exception because I've always been very happy with the quality of the food but tonight we were extremely disappointed. The beer battered fish tacos typically had a large fish fillet. Tonight there was one small fish fillet in each taco which was mostly batter :( The steak chimichurri was typically cubed pieces of steak. However tonight the meat was like cheesesteak which I assume is because it's a cheaper cut of meat. The Buffalo chicken taco was fine but I was so disappointed with the fish and steak that it ruined the overall experience. We all know food pieces have risen and continue to rise. I felt like tonight's food was an example of the result of inflation on customers. Decrease the quality of food provided in order to increase your margins. We heard you loud and clear. I have only been here once before and had a great time, so I decided to try it out again for a second. The staff is good, a lot of huddling around the bar and not really checking on the table. The food was good, I had a shrimp fajita bowl with brown rice and voy was it filling! Nice big pieces of shrimp, melted cheese, peppers, onions.. all on top of a bed of brown rice. It was a nice healthy meal, that I would definitely get again! The raspberry lemonade was refreshing and tasted homemade. So I ordered from them on Uber eats... I was craving for tacos.. however I was a bit disappointed with the way my order came. I was expecting more especially since I paid $31 for this. The tacos I ordered were DIY... on all 3 I asked for steak rice shredded cheese and lettuce. I paid extra for the lettuce btw... $0.25... when the tacos came it felt like the steak took over the rice cheese and lettuce. I barely tasted any of those additions. They were extremely small portions. I also paid additional $0.25 for extra sour cream which I was expecting on the side but didn't get.... not worth the price. They tasted okay I would rate that 3.5 out of 5. On the other hand I paid $11 for beef empanadas and they were very delicious however I think it's also waaaaay too over priced. I bookmarked Westchester Taco Grill a while back because, you know, tacos - but I hadn't had a chance to try it until yesterday. One of my colleagues works nearby and was telling me about how they enjoyed the food and that we should try it. That was good enough for me to meet up for some dinner and catch up. WTG is located in New Rochelle directly across from Iona College. As such, a large chunk of their clientele are students - they even go as far as accepting the college's meal plan which I think is really great. The space has that modern trendy atmosphere - almost industrial looking with a good amount of metal, and open kitchen, and high-top tables. In addition to namesake tacos, WTG offers a lot more - tapas, bowls, full-on dinners, burgers, and sandwiches; I was pleasantly surprised at just how much they offered. We decided to start with beef empanadas and avocado toast. The empanadas were good - they were fried well, had a good amount of beef as well as cheese, plus they came with this tasty side sauce mmmm. I like the avocado toast even more - crispy/chewy toast, lots of guac, and it was topped with pickled onions and crumbled cheese; it tasted super fresh. I had to have the tacos as a main. They had a choice of five to mix and match, so I decided on the shrimp, spicy pork, and buffalo. All the tacos were very good - my favorite of them being the shrimp; they were on the smallish size so three was the perfect amount. We also ordered a side of tostones which were nice and crispy. They were served with some sort of garlic sauce - it was realllllly oily but had lots and lots of garlic which I appreciated. Service was good - fast and friendly which is always a plus.
