After a long renovation, Roost is back, one of the most popular restaurants downtown Greenville #yeahthatGreenville It has been beautifully done and the open space is warm and inviting.. Brunch always draws a great crowd and we were right there in the thick of it, this glorious fall weekend. Amanda was our server and quickly got our drinks and made to order eggs going. Today's brunch had a great variety of selections of breakfast and lunch offerings. Stone ground cream grits, bacon, sausage potatoes and French toast. A huge cold bar full of fruits and veggies. Pulled pork, shrimp and grits, Mac and cheese and Brussels for the lunch side. At noon they were filling empty containers and keeping areas full. If you haven't been to Roost since they've reopened, come on out!!

The food we had was all very good !! I really enjoyed the spicy huckleberry margarita. Service was outstanding and I would return back !!

    Trout

Excellent dishes . We had the wings, mussels, trout , and wedge salad. All very well executed. Next I would do the white wine butter instead of red curry on mussels as it was too hot. Trout portion huge and delicious! Service and ambience great as well. We will be back. Also solid bourbon selection.

Fig old fashioned and isn't she a peach

We sat outside on the patio during the Main Street Friday's blues concert. Great service, cocktails, food and overall vibe! Can't wait to come back

A great dinner for one at the bar

I walked over from my hotel and it was a great location for a nice dinner for one. The service was friendly. The atmosphere had a cool fun but chill vibe. The good was really good!

Bread loaf ~ delicious with whipped butter & olive oil.

This place was so good! We shared a few apps and entrees and everything was delicious. The staff were kind and welcoming and I loved the atmosphere. The restaurant is huge and there is also a nice outdoor patio space. Yeah it's a hotel restaurant so don't expect an outstanding meal but it was solid. I ordered the broccoli Caesar with salmon & it was very good. Lettuce was crisp, dressing was good. I also ordered a bourbon neat which led my waiter and I to have a whole conversation about bourbons. The guy knew his stuff & brought me a sample of a rum cask rye which I loved even though I'm not usually a bit rye fan. He comped part of our order due to the kitchen being slow which was appreciated.

This place doesn't disappoint. I had forgotten they change the menu 3 times a day based on the fresh ingredients they have on hand. This day they had a brisket sandwich with fries, which I substituted for a delicious garden salad. You really can't go wrong.

The service was…read moreprompt and friendly, and the ambiance was clean and well-decorated inside and on the heated, screened-in patio. We were seated on the terrace by the door, which was less than desirable but still good. The chair I was in was awfully uncomfortable, but the benches were suitable. For food, we ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts, Earl Grey tea bread, chicken tamales, berry French toast, mushroom bruschetta and fried oysters. The Brussels were good and perfectly cooked. The Earl Grey tea bread was good, but too sweet for me (not a sweets person). My friends ordered the chicken tamales and berry French toast, respectively, and enjoyed their meal. For me, the menu didn't have anything that caught my eye, so I made a meal of the small plates. I love mushrooms, but I felt that the mushrooms in the bruschetta needed to be chopped. Their meaty texture and large pieces made it less than desirable, even though the flavor was good. The oysters were well-cooked and served in an ample portion, but with cocktail sauce rather than aioli. When asked, she brought me the paprika aioli that's on the Brussels sprouts. Still, I think a lemon-and-herb aioli or a lemon-and-horseradish aioli would have been more appropriate for a fresh brightness to cut through the breading. It was almost a good meal, but oftentimes the devil is in the details.

I love that they constantly have new menu items and features so you can keep coming back again and again for something new. This last time, I ordered some sweet potato pancakes (that must have been a special because I can't find them on the menu now) and they were SO GOOD!!! They had nuts in them and they were not too sweet which was surprising in the best way. My wife got the classic chicken and waffles and loved them and our 3rd wheel got an omelet. He cleaned the plate so we know it was realllll good. We also got the fried okra as an app for the table and we were all big fans. The sauce took them over the top on flavor. We have never had an issue with the service. They've always been communicative and friendly, offering great suggestions on the menu. I love the inside of the restaurant. It fits the vibe of the menu very well. It feels very hometown southern which is perfect because it is my baby's hometown and we will continue going back every time we visit.

I was hungry and didn't know what or where to eat, not like there is a lack of options, but did I want ramen or something more local in regional flare? I picked the second one. I ended up at Tupelo Honey because fresh southern fried chicken sounded amazing and this place wasn't going to break the bank. I guess this place is a chain but I didn't know this until I was eating. The staff were beyond friendly and attentive and they answered all of my questions about the food. The restaurant was super clean. I ended up ordering the half bird with original seasoning on it. The seasoning the put on it is a crystallized honey power and something else in it, it gives the chicken a nice sweet flavor but not overpowering. They also have a spicy version for you spice lovers. The half bird came with 4 pieces as one would expect, the crust was crispy and the chicken was awesome. I was eating the dark meat and couldn't get over how juicy it was. The real test as you all know is the breast, is that going to be dry? Nope, it was so moist and flavorful, it was a home run. I guess they brine their chicken for some good amount of time and it shows. My sides though I wish I would have gotten more adventurous, the meal came with two sides so I got a salad and the fried potatoes as a recommendation from the waitress. They were good but the mac n cheese looked better. Overall this place is great and I would go again. It's right downtown and the service was fast and friendly. Great place for some fried chicken .

We were there on a Saturday night and people were everywhere. But once we stepped into the lobby there was a lovely piano bar . This hotel has a calm, refined feel to it. The bellman met us at the door, took our bags upstairs and even walked around to show us where to park. The only downside for me was that our room was just a little bit elevated from the street so we could hear a lot of the Saturday night fun that was going on. If you would prefer not to hear the street sounds you may want to request a room on a higher floor.

The…read moreroom she gave me was nice, everything was functional, but the bathroom was poorly designed and the whole room in from the previous "generation" of hotel room, so an update is needed.. hopefully in the next couple of years. The property was very impressively decorated for Christmas!! I loved how the large, two story Christmas Tree was in the main lobby and extended to the mezzanine level and they decorated it so very nicely! I also noticed the garland inside and wreaths outside. The whole property was nicely kept up to shape as well, so regardless of seasonal décor, I'm sure it's a beautiful place any time of year! This property has a restaurant onsite, Spoon Bread is what it's called. They also have the Piano Lounge. The Piano Lounge has a bar, which is a nice (and clearly popular) place to hang out and meet prior to leaving the property for dinner. Also a nice place to gather for that after dinner night cap with co-workers. Sleep quality was decent. HVAC in the room was nice and quiet... the worst part of the room was the bathroom, which I hated because you can't open the door and use the shower, because the door opens into the tub. They need to replace the door with barn style or pocket doors, like other properties have. Only other issue was the valet. I tipped a dollar on one drop off one day and the valet gave it back. I've never had that happen before. So, a dollar isn't enough and you prefer nothing at all? Noted! Overall, the stay was nice, but next time I'm in town, I'll try the AC across the street - It's looked way more festive outside and it's worth a try.
