One of my favorite local places. The fish and chips is great, I generally try to go on Monday when it is all you can eat. The place is always clean inside. They have some of the best mozzarella sticks. I don't like hush puppies at all, but my buddy always orders them and says they're some of the best. The only thing I don't care for is their margaritas. My grandmother always told me about this place and how it was her favorite. Absolutely amazing dine in experience today. Me and my son decided to sit out side due to the beautiful weather. My son gets rather impatient for the food so it was very beneficial to sit outside where my son thought we were taking a sight seeing a with all of the turtles and fish in the water. First we started off with hush puppies. They came out nice hot and fresh. Sooo tasty and I can definitely tell they were home made. We came on a Sunday morning. Kids eat free on Sunday and my son loves applesauce but usually ends up leaving the burgers half eaten. He told me he loved his burger and was actually eating it all so that was a plus. I ordered the 1.50$ margarita special and a side ceaser salad and 1/2 dozen oysters. I'm a big ceaser salad lover and I could tell they made that themselves as well. Oysters could have been a little bit better quality. This restaurant definitely could have got a 5 star rate from me if it was on the beach away from all the noise from the traffic. He was either nervous or new, but if a large party walks in, an experienced waiter or waitress should have taken the table. Thought we would give this a try since we were in the area. My wife and I both had grilled fish - grouper and mahi mahi. It was good and it worked but nothing off the charts. My wife had a daiquiri that was watered down and not very slushy. The key lime pie for dessert was really good. My husband found this gem when he was passing through town and absolutely LOVED it! We now live in the area and frequently visit for lunch/dinner. The breading they use for their fried fish is so light and flavorful! They cook scallops PERFECTLY, so they melt in your mouth. Also, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Cajun grits.... Another great discovery in Largo. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. Menu offers were excellent and the service good. A place that has great seafood and even a nice liver dish. PLEASE READ UNTIL THE END! Our family arrived in town today, and as we often do we looked online for a local place that held promise for dinner. With most of the restaurants near our condo already overcrowded, we ventured to Roosterfish Grill to have some seafood, which was completely apropos for a beach trip. Although we had to wait a few moments for a table--not unusual on a Saturday night--when Stephanie, our server, finally arrived, the evening seemed promising. Right off the bat, she appeared to have a great server personality that would make for a lively Saturday evening. After everyone in our family had pretty well selected the food entrée they wanted, my son and I decided to really live up our first night at the beach and order our drinks in the reusable Shark Sipper cups. We both agreed that it would be fun to use them all week on our beach trip. When we ordered, Stephanie said she would have to check to see whether the restaurant actually had any. The whole idea of her needing to check inventory seemed--no pun intended--fishy to me, as each person at our table had been given a separate, laminated sheet advertising drinks and the reusable cups. Why would a restaurant go through all that trouble to sell us on the merchandise but then not have it? Anyway, Stephanie returned and told us, much to our chagrin, that they did not have any of those cups, so we ordered standard beverages instead. With that, my kids and I all requested Dr Pepper. After being gone for a few minutes, Stephanie returned and told us that they did not even have Dr Pepper--she confused it with root beer, which they did have. Okay, again . . . that seemed like a stretch. Who confuses those two drinks, especially when you have been a server at the same restaurant for years the way Stephanie told us she had? We all had to choose our drink alternatives, so we did. And then it was time to order food. When my turn came around, I asked which was better--the Alaskan pollock fish sandwich or the grouper fish sandwich? Well, guess what--I was immediately told by Stephanie that they did not even have any grouper! So far, I was three for three with the rejected item requests! When we reached that point in the dining experience, I did kid around with Stephanie about the fact that they had nothing I had attempted to order, and the joking was done in a way that was obviously not mean spirited. However, later in the meal, when I made a joke about the fact that Stephanie would have to be nice to us after so many things were not available, it was obvious that her attitude had turned, and she actually said "No, I don't" in response. After that point, we had little interaction with Stephanie, but it was obvious that the whole meal had gotten awkward. The pièce de résistance, however, came as our family was walking out of the restaurant. When we got up to leave our table, a different waitress serving a different table behind us walked past us with SIX of the shark sipper cups! SIX OF THEM! Where did they come from? Why had Stephanie deceived us? Was it intentional, or did she just not care whether we got what we asked for?? To say that I was absolutely flabbergasted would be a gross understatement. As a customer, I was extremely insulted. The service tonight was sorely disappointing, and the food was mediocre at best--frankly, the only reason I marked this review with two stars instead of just one (or zero, had that option been available) was the taste of the fish on my sandwich--it was actually good, and it was the highlight of the meal. The hushpuppies were okay, but the fries were downright tepid and the coleslaw was rather bland. Between the food and the service, after tonight's experience, our family will NOT be returning to this restaurant, which appears to be strangely housed in a defunct Shoney's restaurant building. Our first visit was not what we expected but gave it another try at the request of the owner. This time had a seafood pasta dish and my husband had the mahi mahi. We brought friends along and they ordered seafood. This time the oysters were awesome! Perfect size and well worth the price. Our dinners were served hot and prepared to our liking. Ate here for the first time with my Grandma. No appetizers, just got right down to business. I had the Mango Mahi and thought it was incredible. Caribbean jerk style mahi mahi with a mango salsa. On vacation I opened my trusty Yelp app to find a great spot of dinner. I was impressed by the reviews from Roosterfish Grill so I loaded the kids in the car. Upon arrival I found a parking lot with plenty of spots and walked into smiling faces from the staff. Immediately seated we received menus and ordered drinks that came in the blink of an eye. I opted for the unlimited fish and chips that were by far the best I've ever had in my life. Their food is fresh and you can taste the love and pride they put into it. They also have a nice kids menu that doesn't have just fish related items to keep the kids happy. In terms of prices, they're more than affordable. The decor is fun, warm and inviting. If I lived in the area, I could see myself spending lots of time in here drinking some cold ones and enjoying another amazing meal. Well done Roosterfish. This restaurant is a hidden gem that I only recently discovered. Although I've driven past probably hundreds of times , I have never seriously considered eating here. Let's just say the place seriously lacks curb appeal. I ventured in with my three year old grandson on a holiday weekend and got a very pleasant surprise. I had been craving really good fish and chips and boy, did this place deliver! Fresh, not frozen, hand battered and lightly fried, the fish was awesome. The same goes for my grandson's meal of fresh, not frozen, battered and fried chicken strips. The French fries were some of the best I've had and I loved the coleslaw. I had no trouble inhaling my food and neither did my grandson. As picky as we both are, there was nothing left to take home! I've since been back, both alone on a sneak, and also with several family members. I'm introducing them all one by one to my new favorite place. I've even gotten fish and chicken and chips takeout for the nights I keep my grandchildren. While I do think this is a wonderful place, I've learned through some trial and error to stick with what brought me here in the first place and not to expect too much from their other dishes. The clams were not very good and the lobstercargo a definite no go. The decor is dated and kitsch but very clean. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Skip the watered-down mixed drinks and have beer instead, order the all you can eat fish and enjoy. read more

Went on Saturday for a large group gathering of 30 or so people. Had a private room and could not give more compliments to the servers. Despite being a Saturday evening and a room filled with 30+ diners, they worked their tails off to make sure everyone had drinks and food. This place is a hidden gem!!! The outdoor seating was wonderful over topic of a pond! Our awesome server, Anthony, gave our girls food to feed the fish and turtles. They had a blast! Our food and drinks were fantastic! We had raw oysters, clam chowder, calamari, grouper Oscar, fried shrimp, and the kids' got fish and chicken bites!!! Disappointing. Agree with other negative reviews. The food is mediocre at best. Really most of the fish they serve is stuff you shouldn't eat anyway-tilapia, Atlantic salmon, basa. That was a bad sign. I ended up just getting the Caesar salad. It was fine. Service was not great either. Forgot to bring some things. Butter on the table but no bread ever brought. Complaint about the soggy fried food went nowhere. One person in our party got the oysters Rockefeller & they looked good but they didn't taste good. Suspect little of any of the seafood is local. Too bad, I really like to support the local places, but I won't be going back here. read more
