About four other dinner options fell apart but my friend, who's a local, decided to head here and I'm super glad those other places fell through because this was truly delightful pizza. Everyone's pizza was delicious, but I was super happy with my choice of the pig and fig with white sauce, prosciutto, figs and caramelized onions. The crust was perfect, crispy and chewy from the wood fired oven. We also had to get the bruschetta after seeing it on another table and that was a spectacular choice. Our server couldn't have been more distracted or apathetic. She basically disappeared and someone else did our refills and delivered our food. Incredibly disappointed as this was my first restaurant to try in Key West. The food was incredibly overpriced for the shockingly low quality. We got the risotto balls-- they completely lacked any flavor. The fig and pig was hard to get down due to the " caramelized onions " appearing to be from some type of three day old stew and tasting like it. The crust was soft and not crispy in the least. It was a white pizza but I would have thought there would at least be some olive oil or such to bring the flavors together. The Parmesan chicken was just fine--again lacking much flavor and not nearly worth the price. For $70 I would have expected higher quality but I guess they get by in such a touristy area. read more

First let me say this is difficult to offer 3-stars as Roostica is a place Ameal thought of as his 'go-to' great place....no more. We now have to tag em as hit-or-miss. To be specific the last visit my meat balls were cool, sauce hot spaghetti cooked well, but overall disappointing with cold meat. Another time we were both nauseated after dining here....food poisoned...who can say but not appetizing. The Sicilian pizza our favorite is always great except when on occasion it is swimming in grease...not sure why, but not good. Ameal and his amazing gang WILL be back, as we love supporting local hard working people. However let me offer this if Roostica seeks longevity and excellence I will be pleased to come in for a no cost , back-of- the house evaluation. I would give this place ZERO STARS if i could. Everyone was wearing summer beach clothes obviously because we are right by the water but for some reason me and my boyfriend got sat outside. Server took forever to even bring us water, when she finally came we just placed our whole order. Waited for over 30 min just thought it was because it was a little busy but another older nicer dresses couple arrived with a dog so they sat outside and got their food right after we had gotten ours after only being there like 15 mins. We barely saw our server, the bussers were more attentive than our server. Food was TERRIBLE, mediocre and not worth the price or the service !! NEVER COMING BACK AND WOULDNT RECOMMEND IT. Most shitty overpriced food, i always tip even if i have a bad experience but it was so terrible i couldn't even bring myself to leave a tip!! Not sure how this place has such high ratings. As someone who loves Italian food this is some of the worst we've ever had, sadly I would equate it to a Fazoli's. Everything was very bland and lacked any depth of flavor and the red sauce was super sugary. It felt like the food was rushed and not cooked or prepared correctly. Our Greek salad was large chunks and not integrated. We also had garlic bread it was cold and not even warmed and the sauce came cold. Our appetizer was risotto balls also not cooked completely. The service was hard to come by, we even told our waitress Barbara our food was not cooked she did not care and didn't come back around until we had to flag her down for the bill. It wasn't just us the table next to us were complaining as well. We left most our food there and didn't take it home. read more

We ordered the zucchini fries, lemon cello wings,, a supreme pizza, and a diavolo pizza. Every bite was delicious! The wings were a real treat, not fried, so tasty. The red wine sangria was super good! The pizza was fine. Nothing special. Also the service was questionable. We had to wait 20 minutes even though there were several empty tables. Went in yesterday for our happy hour favorite. We come here a lot. But, we unfortunately had a really bad serving experience. Long story short we sat with no drinks or food for over 30 mins when Alex (another server/manager) noticed and took charge. Not only did she recognize us but took over to take care of the issue. Got into town too late to enjoy our resort restaurant but Roostica to the rescue! We called at 9:30 for a takeout order of salad and pizzas and it was ready super fast! The pizza was delicious- we ordered plain cheese for the kiddos and a hippie vegetarian for us grown folks. Delicious! The Greek salad was very good also. SOMETIMES YOU FEEL LIKE A NUT... SOMETIMES YOU STILL DO. I could write a long, flowery view and God knows I am prone to just go on forever. Instead two words - pistachio pesto. I have never tasted such a flavor frenzy. Yeah, I said frenzy. How did I manage to get to the frenzy? Shooting a movie in Key West, we were housing at Oceans Edge Hotel (yes that is Oceans and not Ocean's, but that's another review of an outstanding Key West offering). Long days often turn into longer nights and as usual, the ravenous car-less crew was roaming the area looking for the closest place to chow. They stumbled over what they expected to be the local pizza joint. Good, not great, but fast and cheap. Many times the crew starts a shooting day with big plans for an evening loose on a new unsuspecting town but by the time we wrap, everyone is staggering to the closest food hole. Roostica is not just a local food hole. It's a rockin' local wood-fire inside-and-outside-seating pizzeria/taverna with a hoppin' social media base, The fact that the food turned out to be not just good but especially delicious was just a bonus. Not sure how they do it but this joint makes a pistachio nut pesto served with fresh burrata mozzarella and prosciutto that cannot be matched anywhere. The burrata is the dreamy texture of Gumby after a minute in the microwave...wait that probably doesn't sound appetizing! But IT IS! It's soft and stretchy and nestled in the most glorious pesto you have ever tasted. Rick's mozzarella puffs are another appetizer not to be missed and you will not be disappointed with any of the salads (I hear the beet salad is divine - my staff loved it - me, not a beet fan!) or the sacked antipasto. The wood-fire pizzas range from the fat Sicilian deep dish smothered in meats to the thin Hippie vegetarian delight. You name it (bacon, lobster, clams, truffle and more meat) to the simple white pizza - they have a vast variety of interesting pies to offer. The Cuban is a food disc fit for Miami and my crew absolutely loved it. In the mood for pasta? Try the hogfish piccata featuring the local catch that keeps the Keys in business. Or stay simple with spaghetti and meatballs. Look, it's a just great place to eat with terrific service and a fun backdrop. You don't have to be in the movie business to dig it. But we will come back down here to shoot even if all we actually do is eat at Roostica. In fact, I feel like some pistachio nut pesto right now! read more

^^ 3 1/2 Stars. For this visit we decided to place an order for pick-up and eat in. They don't have delivery, or at least not to Old Town. We ordered the meatball and ricotta pie which comes one size only, 12", along with the chicken wings with hot sauce on the side. The order was ready for pick-up, but due to the long drive there and back with traffic, the pizza was cold by the time we got it home, so we had to nuke the slices as we went. I'm not a fan of nuked anything, but the extra heat brought out the flavor of the ricotta. THE PIE: The pizza was very tasty once heated, though we were both surprised on the presentment of the meatballs. Not what we expected. It looked like just ground beef as apposed to actual meatballs in red sauce, meatballs slices with red sauce, or mini meatballs with red sauce, as I have also seen. For the $16 price tag for this 12" pie, I thought the pricing a bit steep. The dough seemed lacking and the overall taste of the pizza fell a bit flat in overall flavor. It was overall, okay. THE WINGS: Capitol L-O-V-E-D them! They were cooked perfectly, the onions and peppers on the top added extra yummy goodness, and the side of hot sauce was good. I'm still dreaming of them. BOTTOM LINE: I would visit here again to give it another go, but only if I was already out that way to eat at the restaurant. Too much of a hassle for pick-up. read more

The jerk wings are not hot at all (a bit of a disappointment in fact) but what's nice about them is that they are purely wood fired and not deep fried. The margherita pizza was great! We really liked Roostica. Nice cocktails. Really good arancini (fried rice balls), great pizza. We tried a margherita extra, a rocket, and a kid's marinara. Keep in mind that their marinara isn't a true marinara (it comes with cheese rather than just sauce like it's supposed to). But they made one with just sauce for my son. Really nice service too. If you like Napoletana pizza, this is most likely your best bet down here! Good prices too. Loved it. read more
