I was not expecting to enjoy kombucha as much as I did, but thanks to the great tasting kombucha here, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. They offer half cups and full cups of kombucha so you get to try a variety of their flavors. I personally loved the grapefruit kombucha. Favorite kombucha I've had! They do flights if 4 x 5 oz pours, which are fun to try out all the flavors. Some interesting flavor combinations with spices and local plants but they all worked surprisingly well. Picked up a 4 pack for the road but wish they shipped or sold in Illinois because I'll be daydreaming about this kombucha for a while! We tried these flavors: Ginger- light and refreshing. Solid classic Blueberry- juicy, good Raspberry sumac- made with interesting fluffy plants we saw on the hiking trail. A year ago, this place had the best kombucha I'd ever had. Can't say the same this time... The menu, although creative and unique, did not deliver when it came to taste. We opted for two of the flights, covering every flavor. Every single one felt watered down, unlike last year. There was little in the way of differentiation from one glass to the next. So there I was, browsing Yelp in a city I've never been toD my friend wanted to go to another kombucha place down the road which we did venture off to, but then i found Root Wild and it sounded really good! I'm really glad we decided to stop in! It's really light and airy in here, it's a hidden gem! Decided to do a sampler and went with - grapefruit, blueberry, beach rose and rhubarb. Super cozy & good environment to be in! The place was clean, aesthetically pleasing, good music, and great choices for kombucha! My favorites were the ginger and grapefruit and my partners favorites were the ginger and purple wave (I think it's called but purple something on the harder side)! Don't get me wrong, I love me some spirited beverages, but sometimes it's nice to have the option of meeting up with friends over something a little healthier. Root Wild is adding some serious competition to the Portland kombucha scene (which is minuscule), and they are doing it right. I came to Root Wild after hearing about it from a few friends that had checked it out previously. A friend and I decided to check it out one Sunday afternoon. First off, the space is pretty industrial, and it looks like one of the many breweries that Portland has to offer. But it certainly adds to it's laid-back vibe. There are a variety of seating options ranging from high-top tables and seating at the bar. There is also a ping pong table for patrons to utilize as you sip on some beverages. My friend and I ended up sitting at the bar. The bartender happened to be super friendly and was knowledgable about their offerings. Come to find out, the bartender was the owner! They had a variety of kombucha offerings, and I especially liked how their kombucha variations were unique. I decided to get a flight of 5 kombuchas. When you get a flight of kombuchas, you get 4 oz worth of each kombucha, which is something that sets Root Wild apart from it's competitor in the Portland area. And the flight was only $8. My friend and I noticed that Root Wild also had some beer offerings. I ended up getting a flight to try them all out. The beer was decent, with my favorite being a mango sour beer/kombucha hybrid, which was unique and really good. If you choose to take some kombucha home, Root Wild has their kombucha in cans and you can take a four-pack home with you! Overall, I think that Root Wild is doing kombucha right and I will definitely continue coming here to try more of their offerings in the future! read more

The kombucha was great and the service was exceptional. We went in and purchased to tasting. The flavors were flavor forward and had great aromatic scents. We enjoyed the outdoor seating which made it a very appealing spot for people who are being Covid safe but wanted to experience some fun social activities . My husband was not a big fan of Kombucha but Root Wild has won him over. He can't wait to finish our blueberry craft so we can return to purchase our next selection. Love the location and the kombucha! Perched on a hill, root wild has both outdoor and indoor seating including 2 couches surrounded by lots of plants, making you feel relaxed and at ease. My boyfriend and I both got a flight , which mind included peach, plum, ginger and blueberry. They all had distinct flavors that were unique and delicious, with my favorite being the blueberry. Years ago, we met Reid when he was working at UUF and talked with him about his passion for fermenting. When he opened Root Wild, we were so excited and visited immediately. Since then, we haven't been able to go back until recently. We were just as blown away as the first time we had his brews! Take our money Root Wild! He really is the 'brooch master. Root Wild is the latest addition to the expanding selection of food & beverage businesses on Washington Ave. It is a kombucha and beer brewery/taproom (though the beer is currently brewed at nearby Lone Pine). The design is similar to other modern taprooms around the country in that it is industrial but still warm and welcoming. I really love the concept of Root Wild. Sometimes I am with people who want to go out for a beer, and I just don't feel like drinking. At Root Wild my friends can get beer and I can get kombucha, win-win. The ambiance is great for hanging out, as they have a variety of seating options and board games to keep you entertained. Knowing that the beer here is brewed at Lone Pine, it shouldn't come as a surprise that it is fantastic. I actually like the beer here better than the kombucha. To me, the kombucha is on the sweet side and the flavors are not as pronounced as I'd like. I had a flight recently and some of the flavors tasted pretty similar. The beer is really in your face flavorful, the kombucha is pretty subtle. All in all, another great addition to the neighborhood. read more

Love that there are now two options for kombucha breweries in Portland now! Was so excited to pay Root Wild a visit and was not disappointed. The space is cute and just what you would expect for Portland-- garage door that opens up on sunny warm days (it was pouring the day we went so it was closed up), bar and table seating (you can bring food in to eat there), and lots of locally foraged ingredients in the kombucha. We did a flight of 5 and my favorite, hands down, was the Rhubarb kombucha. It was SO good! (I actually went back the next day to get a growler of it!) The blueberry and the mint were also awesome and those come in cans that you can easily buy around Portland if you can't make it to the brewery. (The only flavor I did not like was the vanilla rooibos, but the next day it was gone and replaced by something else.) They also have four beers on tap. We tried one and it was good, but if I'm going to a kombucha brewery, I am going for kombucha. Will definitely return to see their rotation of flavors again soon! read more

We had a pretty aggressive brewery/distillery day so we limited ourselves from trying their beer. Split a flight of kombucha, and liked the sassafras blend best but they were all so flavorful and unique. Rotates seasonally. Thought the quality was much higher than at Urban Fermentory, and much preferred the low-key, clean, and attractive vibe. A weird quirk is that they still ID and you need to be 21. The kombucha is maybe 1-2% ABV and is readily available for purchase in stores, but maybe they need to ID because they also serve beer on premises? read more

This place was hoppin' when we arrived around 3pm on a Saturday! All the brews are made from locally sourced ingredients and can be served as individual pours or in a flight. Growlers were inexpensive and refills equally so. We tried most of their options and all were light and refreshing. My party especially enjoyed the 'pine & lavender' 'minted' and 'rooted' kombuchas.
