Back again for the second time this month! Made a reservation for 7pm for two people and was able to get sat quickly. I again have to give 4 stars due to the service; it's just not as attentive as I would've liked. Food is absolutely stellar-- I got the half chicken, truffle fries, and brussels sprouts. Chicken is moist and juicy, the fries were cooked perfectly, and the flavor of the brussels sprouts with the balsamic reduction was fantastic. We tried a lemon drop which was perfectly balanced, and their house-made raspberry lemonade, which was very sweet. We also got the dessert of the day, which was a strawberry waffle sundae. The waffles were warm and fluffy and it came with a side of Taharka ice cream. We got the Cesar kale salad, charred shrimp, mushroom bowl, Mac and cheese and a side of bread. We loved everything! The Cesar had a little too much anchovy taste for me, but it wasn't bad. I'm just sensitive to it. I wouldn't have traded anything we got. The owners were there and came over to each to table to ask how everything was for our dinner. I'm actually upset that I didn't know about this restaurant earlier. Everything - and I mean everything was superb!! That chicken?! Oh my goodness. It was marinated to the gods!! The owner came over to our table and told us that all their chicken is marinated for 24 hours, and boy, does it taste like it. I think this was probably one of the best chicken I've ever had. Came back and was so happy I did. I hosted a few women in the area for a dinner so the stakes were high because I gawked over how good Rooted was on my first visit. They did not disappoint! They had a little name tag and our table was ready when we arrived. As always, customer service felt like home. First time guest and I had a good experience! They've been on my list for a while and came highly recommended so I was excited to try them out. I had a reservation for 2 at 6:30pm, and we were seated quickly, it wasn't super crowded but it was pretty full. I spent $56 including their automatic 18% gratuity. They are a bit pricey and they don't split checks by items but you can pay with multiple cards. The food was delicious though! I got the duck confit ($28) and the house drink by the glass (a lemonade--$5) along with lemon cake for dessert. I've never had duck and it was cooked to perfection! I will be remised, if I did not update my review from last year. Even after a year, Rooted Rotisserie still checks all my boxes. Stopped in on a Thursday evening with my good good girlfriends just to catch up and unwind from the week. And even on a Thursday night, they were packed, which is always a good thing. Now they have their liquor license, so they have a really nice curated cocktail and wine list. And they offer a nice happy hour from 4-6 pm, so I will definitely make sure I stop in for that. We just came for dinner as always. My friends love coming here and we pretty much keep it simple. We split a whole chicken, order two sides, the broccolini and their mac and cheese. For dessert they have the best key lime pie here. I am not a fan of key lime pie, but I will eat theirs. It is so delicious and light with that delicious graham cracker crust. They did not have the soursop lemonade this evening, which is ok, hopefully they will have it next time. The vibes here are just chill, they always have a really good playlist playing and it really feels like home there. The service was TOP TIER. I have to say that first. Here's why I say this: because of their limited hours, it's hard to get into. Everyone had a reservation because they knew lol I was just operating on vibes. And even then, they fit me into the bar. I wouldn't try it again though haha. I'll get a reservation. Even with a relatively full house, they were attentive and pleasant. If you're gluten free, there's not a ton of choices but they do work with you. In fact, when they ask for your order they also ask if you have any allergies or food concerns. I ordered the sparkling water with the half chicken and the baked potato, but the fixings on the side. I asked the waitress what sauce she usually gets and she suggested getting the white truffle aïoli with the pepper sauce. She did NOT steer me wrong. The half chicken was great and I liked that I was able to customize my potato. My only critique is that the plates were too small and they should give you automatically two sauces for the chicken. Love this place for its liveliness, hospitality, music... and did I mention food? I've been here three times, as this is where I bring my special folks to celebrate their birthdays. The space itself appears to be a renovated house with a simple clean design, very hip spot with a mix of nouveau soul, Afro beat and world music that gets you in the mood for a chill evening of good dining. Staff is genuinely friendly and accommodating, definitely helpful with different selections featured. But the food is what it's about. On all three visits, we've enjoyed the rotisserie chicken, both succulent and crispy. Definitely a hit. The Mac and cheese is dense and cheesy, maybe not as flavorful as expected, but good. On all three visits, we've gotten the braised cabbage which although flavorful, has been either perfectly al dente or somewhat mushy. It was tender, but would have loved more pronounce flavor. The sauces did that trick. The truffle aioli and aleppo citrus (cant remember the exact name) tasted as named. The stArs of the show were the homemade ranch and the pepper sauce both were A1 and tasty. The ranch was nothing like the bottled stuff. It was dill forward and had a nice flowing consistency. Im typically not a spicy gal but the peppa sauce was so flavorful. You not only experience heat, you get depth of flavor. Another star was the mac and cheese. creamy rich and decadent. Perfectly al dente noodles in a cheesy sauce. I tasted Gouda which is my fav cheese. The shrimp were cooked just right. We started with the Maryland crab dip and the House Caesar salad with is made is Kale. Loved both, but would have loved the dip to be hotter. For entrees we both went with the half chicken. I chose the chicken Demi glaze (similar to thin gravy), with cabbage. My friend chose the garlic aioli as her sauce, Brussels sprouts and flash fried Yukon potatoes. We loved them both. I typically don't order Brussel sprouts so I'd easily go with the cabbage again. It's some of the best cabbage I've ever had in a restaurant. I wish the serving of cabbage was bigger. The Brussels and potatoes sides were so big they looked like main dishes. No cocktails this time, we went the House drink, a refreshing lemonade. One thing to note, the 2 seater tables are really small, be mindful in the timing of ordering your dishes. Everything came out quick! They do not serve liquor. Third you will need to make a reservation. For the appetizer i ordered the L.I.B chicken wings. They were seasoned and the homemade ranch topped it off. Then ordered a mess of food for the table (Duck Confit Gumbo, Branzino, Pepper Steak and Half Chicken with Mac and Cheese on the side). The fried orka that goes in the gumbo is chef's kiss!
