Rootens will now be our go-to retail store for our luggage needs! The hubby and I have been trying to travel a bit more, and needed to replace some of the more budget-friendly luggage that we own. Finally decided to take the plunge in the more expensive (but much better quality, warranty, and endurance) realm of luggage! When we visited, we really loved how large the store was, and how each part of the store had their own section. Briggs and Riley were in the far back right corner, Eagle Creek was on the right side of the entrance and in the center, Travelpro was in the center, Osprey was in the center, but more to the left, etc. Purses/bags lined the walls, and the smaller travel-conscious items (e.g., toiletry bags) had their own small section, as well. They also have tables that you can place the luggage on to better inspect their features. Price-wise, majority of the luggage would definitely be considered expensive (especially Briggs and Riley). But, the prices do reflect the quality of the luggage, and the touted lifetime warranties (brand-dependent). We ended up deciding on one of the Eagle Creek ones to start with and will come back to slowly replace our older luggage. Beth and Ryan were the employees that were there, and we appreciated their assistance and friendliness. Parking wasn't too bad, but I can see it being a fairly busy business center that would lead you to park a little more further away in the center. Rootens is at one of the corners of the center, and there's definitely more parking behind the corner. read more

Beast store for all travel needs. I've been going there for years. The service is outstanding. Everyone I've talked to is knowledgeable, patient, and eager to be of assistance. They sell all brands of luggage, but Briggs and Riley is my favorite. I had an older Briggs and Riley's suitcase that I just loved. Delta Airlines had damaged the carry handle and had offered to replace my suitcase. I didn't want to replace it so I took it to Rooten's Luggage Center. They sent it to Briggs and Riley and the damaged part was replaced at no cost to me. I highly recommend Rooten's Luggage Center for any luggage and travel needs. LUGGAGE MATTERS!!! You don't often think of it. It's not something we all typically talk about. But what does having excellent luggage say about you as traveler? About you as a person? It wasn't until I got stuck with a bad wheel in Frankfort and had to walk through multiple concourses sounding like I had a broken muffler -- with EVERYONE turning to stare at the racket that was approaching them -- that I began to think about upgrading my travel game. Before that it was always just the suitcase de jour. Just whatever we had laying around. Not a single piece matched and nothing was intentional. (And as a family we traveled a lot and I did travel for work...) After some online research, we came across Briggs & Riley and the closest reseller was Rooten's. So we popped over and spending that much on luggage the first time was a hard line to cross. But the impact and effects were immediate. I felt like a king on my next work trip (I even took pictures of my luggage as I moved through customs in China.) And I've felt like a king every time I've traveled since. I take more pride in my luggage and derive more joy than I can explain so when it came time to add to the collection, WE WAITED UNTIL WE WERE BACK IN CALIFORNIA to go and visit Rooten's to complete the set. Rooten's customer service is fantastic but more importantly, their selection and offerings of the Briggs & Riley line is why we went back. And this time I didn't even blink about the pricing because I knew exactly what tremendous value I was getting and my second time shopping with Rooten's was even more enjoyable than the first because this time I was on the level. I knew what I wanted and they helped facilitate and enable. I even went all in with matching monogramed luggage tags. And I couldn't be happier. It is the little things that often matter most. You wanted me to pick the bike up at your store, have that in writing as well. I have contacted law enforcement, and more agencies than you can imagine about your treatment of consumers. WOW! What a difference between Rootens and another luggage company I just dealt with. The first company shall remain nameless but were so incredibly rude and wouldn't help me because I didn't buy my suitcase from them (they got a complimentary one star review for the experience). Rottens was the exact opposite - professional, friendly and helpful. I talked to Steve on the phone first and explained that the airline had destroyed the suitcase I just purchased. He said Rootens would be happy to help me, asked me about what happened, where I got the suitcase, and told me to bring it in and he would be glad to assess it. I bought the bag in, he evaluated it, gave me a receipt for the airline and thanked me for choosing Rootens. He didn't try to sell me anything and he wasn't pushy. He simply told me that it had been a tough year due to COVID and that if I decided to get the bag fixed or replace it, he would appreciate if I gave Rootens the business. While visiting Orange County for work, one of the wheels on my new Briggs and Reilly Baseline suitcase inexplicably threw its bearings and could no longer roll under load. After looking up local providers on the B & R web site, I called Rooten's to ask if they had the part and could do the repair. Interestingly, the owner responded with a decided lack of interest, asking "Where did you buy the suitcase?" When I replied that it was an online purchase, the owner responded "That's a problem - when you don't support local merchants, it's hard to expect support in return" Knowing that he would bill B & R for a warranty repair, I then asked if he had the required part to accomplish the repair. His reply: "We don't keep a stock of parts on hand, but we may be able to cannibalize a part from another bag; you can bring it in and we'll see what we can do". To this I simply replied "Thank you" and ended the call. If I may, a few thoughts. As a business traveler my entire adult life, I know the value of B & R luggage includes a lifetime warranty and an extensive network of authorized repair providers. In 30+ years of owning B & R, this is the first B & R provider I have encountered who did not have even a rudimentary inventory of spare parts on hand. Other reviews describe this business in glowing terms as a source for new luggage. As this was not my need, and I did not visit this business after my disappointing call with the owner, I cannot offer an informed comment. Edit: To be fair, Rooten's is listed as an 'Extensive Retailer', and not a repair facility; my error in attempting to navigate the B & R web site on a mobile phone. That said, I am unsure why Mr. Wooten did not direct me to the closest B & R repair provider after hearing my need; from his reply, perhaps he reserves his best service for those customers who purchase from him. 5-star review to follow for Avion Luggage Sales and Repair in Santa Ana (the nearest B & R repair provider). There, the owner Mr. Carmen Bernal - responded to my phone call with a "Bring it in, we're open until 6"; and - upon arriving at his store, cheerfully replaced both wheels and had me on my way without charge in 5 minutes. read more

Earlier today I went shopping at Rootens for some travel accessories. This was my first time there and it is absolutely beautiful, clean, and had tons of merchandise. I had looked online before going, thinking they probably only had a small amount of luggage tags in stock at the store, but to my surprise they carried an incredibly collection of locks, tags, suitcases, bags, and anything else for travel. The employee was extremely helpful and I was able to get two tags monogrammed for free and it only took five minutes. He was so full of information and suggestions. On a whim, I pulled in to see what they had. I was fortunate to meet Cindy and Steve Rooten, who proved to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I detailed how much I travel and what I typically take with me. They recommended Briggs Riley luggage which has a lifetime warranty. In the succeeding 2 years I now 6 pieces and I am completely happy with them. They also have classes on who to pack efficiently using the Eagle Creek system, something I need to attend badly and plan to do so in Q1. For a store who has a long-standing history and legacy in Orange County, Steve the owner asked what kind of bag I have been using? When I replied a Hartman he put down the brand even though Rootens for many years sold Hartman, not to mention how many bags they sold if Hartman for many many years. Samsonite has since purchased Hartman but they still make a very nice bag for the money. A rather unpleasant customer experience in general. Try Bloomingdales luggage department in Fashion Island , great customer service complimented with outstanding product knowledge. I purchased three business portfolios here for gifts for college graduates. There was a great selection with a variety of colors and material that made it hard to choose! Steve was very helpful and informative. He stamped each portfolio with the initials of the recipients and they all looked great! They were super excited when they opened their gifts and are planning on using them for interviews to hold their resumes and take notes. There was a great selection of other products in the store! These days, almost all luggage made comes with wheels, but you still need a cart for boxes and other heavy items that one still needs to travel with during business trips. And my old cart was showing it's wear and becoming frustrating to deal with. I looked for carts at a couple of big box warehouses, but their selection would not work for my purposes. So I remembered Rooten's and thought I'd try there. They had three choices that I thought might work and I bought the smaller of the three because I'm not afraid to admit I'm cheap and if it works, I got a better buy than if I bought the more expensive one. They were super friendly and once I selected the cart I wanted to buy, they allowed me to shop and check out the other stuff they had on sale.
