Following heavy rainfall over Easter weekend, my neighbor asserted that our property had caused flooding in his home due to leakage. Subsequently, the Irvine Water District was called to shut off our water supply at 10 pm. The next day, we engaged Rooter Man, relying on their favorable Yelp reviews, to investigate. They determined we needed a leak detection service, priced at $1300. With no water to the house, we proceeded with the detection, and Rooter Man swiftly identified two broken pvc pipes connected to the irrigation system as the source of the leaks, each costing $1300 to replace. However, they were unable to explain how either of those leaks could cause flooding to the neighbor. Additionally, they recommended installing pressure control for the main line, priced at $2500. Despite our urgency to restore water, our insurance company's assessment found no leakage, attributing the neighbor's flood to natural causes. Their estimate for the work, including leak detection, came in under $2500. Feeling misled, I reached out to Rooter Man' manager, Irene, to review the charges, but received no response despite multiple attempts. It's disheartening to have paid nearly $7000 for work that could have been done at a fraction of the cost.
