I learned of Purdy Plumbing from the man who handle the landscaping for our HOA community. Our association had a couple of septic system field line root issues. We got quotes from two other known Plumbing companies before we knew about Purdy and the first quote was out of sight and the second was only have way out of sight. We contacted our landscaper about a plumbing company and he suggested Purdy. They came out and inspected the situation and found the problem and gave us a quote that was reasonably high, but much more inline with reality. Two technicians came out and dug up the two problem areas and took care of the roots and repaired the breaks in the lines. They then checked with a camera line 100 feet up and 100 feet down the pipe to make sure there were no other breaks. They left the repair sites, pristine. Because they did such a great job and were somewhat affordable, I called them when I needed my tankless water heater serviced and a complete kitchen sink and faucet plumbing redo. One of the same very nice technicians (Richard Sherman) who helped the HOA was the one who arrived to help us. Four hours later the jobs were completed. I had everything out to go under the kitchen sink cabinet to thorough clean and when I opened the doors, it was spotless, just like new. if there was less stars than this I would choose the option. Owner was rude. plumber that showed up ( not on time) had no idea about troubleshooting clogged tub drain. He wanted ti replace the drain for 900$ more after the initial 300$ for showing g up without a snake and poured blue liquid into tub. called another plumber who had everything done for 300. worst company ever. read more

Purdy is my new go to for all things plumbing! I called 4 companies and they were the only ones to respond. Tammy in the office was so kind and got me set up the same week to have my issues resolved. We had a leaking bathtub faucet, sink that won't drain, and toilet issue. Rich was was on time and communicated throughout the process and gave me options and pricing so I could decide what to do! PPR response not true, they would not come out to look a and quote the installation so I looked for task that they could peform - that being said found a few other plumbers that took care of project and few other jobs they would not do. They claimed that the requests were not to code- asked 2 other plumbers and they said code was not an issue. I had a bid yesterday from another plumbing company in Tacoma. It was to repair a leaking outside faucet for a hose hook up. He looked at it and then wanted to see the basement. Came back up and said the whole house needed to be repiped/plumbed We have copper piping. At a cost of over $24,000. I almost fell over. We are both retired and my husband has Parkinson's disease. Not something we wanted to hear in our golden years. Today I called Purdy Plumbing told her the story without mentioning names. She said I know who this is and she was right. They are well known on scamming their customers. Purdy Plumbing had a cancellation today, came over, replaced the faucet and bib etc. Cost was under $300. I used my home warranty to fix a plumbing leak in my bathroom. There was weird miscommunication between what I'd told the home warranty company and what they told Purdy, but we got that cleared up on the scheduling call. They were flexible with my schedule and were at my home on time. They wore masks and kept everything clean. Not only did they fix the leak, they also discovered that somehow the hot and cold water was revered in the shower, so they fixed that at the same time. They happily talked me through the repair and showed me what they did. I would use them again. read more

Finding a good, honest plumber to maintain your home is crucial. Based on recommendations, I hired Purdy Plumbing. I initially spoke with Tammy to schedule an appoint. She is very friendly and easy to work with. Richard fixed a leak in my filtration system and three leaking spouts on the outside of my house. Purdy Plumbing is an honest, family-owned company. They seem to care about getting the job done properly. Richard even took the time to explain how water flowed to the filtration system and the proper way to shut off water to my house. read more

FRAUD ALERT: Caution; office practices and billings are crooked. We agreed to a written estimate of a small project to bring water to our garden. We do the trench, lay the line and they just have to hook the pipe to our home water. Very accessible, clean dry, easy job. Inexperienced 'estimator' was out for 15 - 20 min. Our place is 2-3 miles from their office. No details on the written estimate of $2500 dollars. We were told by office that is "for two plumbers at $165 / hr" How many hours? Materials? We are honorable and we paid in cash but the "$165" for our estimate turned into $200 for fuel surcharges, and extra fees, including a credit card fee. What?? No use talking to their office, we are "getting a deal". As with other poor ratings, they may have a pattern of bullying women. We will not proceed with the work as our dealings with the "estimator" and their office have been unacceptable, if not illegal. read more

This business was recommended to me, however, I found that their charge for a service I had previously had done two week prior was ,over twice the price or another plumber. It took two weeks to order a part and complete a job, causing a slow down in other work. The plumber sent was competent, but had a nasty attitude towards me and expressed it. Used them for a large repair in master bathroom, over $3000.00, which went pretty well except for an item (shower wand with a vacuum breaK). They called to say the vac break would be more money, so I authorized it. It was never installed, they have refused to call me back after Several attempts. Our community strongly recommended them but I will be posting caution for the 130 homes here. Tried 3 times to get them to call and discuss. Sadly, it stinks. read more

So he left the next person that came over was horrible and nasty and rude and they literally left feces all over the floor and didn't clean up the mess that they made. I have had Purdy Plumbing out three times. Once was a small job. Once a major job. Yesterday they came to replace my water heater. I can't say enough good things about these people. They are friendly, helpful and timely. They show up when they say they are going to show up. There are no hidden fees. The quality of the work and the cleanup afterward has been excellent. The plumbers have all been super friendly and are happy to answer questions. I highly recommend them. I notice on the bad reviews that there is some mitigating circumstance that seems to me to be more the fault of the customer than Purdy Plumbing. Just my observation. read more

On June 7, 2007, the year after we bought our house, we noticed a leak in an outside hose bib. We called Purdy Plumbing to come out and repair it. He was here for 25 minutes. Installed an 8 inch hose bib and nipple and reconnected it to the existing plumbing. He used a "frost free vacuum breaker" valve. When recently moving furniture in that room, Behind our big roll-top desk, we found that the whole wall was black with mold and the carpet beneath it was as well. All this damage after charging us $191.69. I'm sure to fix it, it's going to be several thousand dollars. read more

Purdy Plumbing is a family owned and operated company. My family tries to support local/small business when we can. I called them and said I needed a shower pan installed and a hot and cold supply dropped out of the ceiling. They did not want to come out and bid it but they quoted $1500 which was fine with me. They showed up two hours late on the date scheduled. When he got there he realized the scope was different than they expected based on a phone call. (FYI-that's why you go to the site and bid!) Big surprise... He left after an hour and rescheduled for another day. Another day comes and no plumber at 8, 10, 11 or 12. I called periodically and asked for an update... "he's coming". So is Christmas... I don't know about you, but I have to take time off work to wait for the plumber. It is expensive but there is no consideration of that or the value of your time. He never showed. They finally said around 4pm they needed to reschedule yet another week later. I rescheduled. I grew up in the trades and had the skills, not the time to do the job. But I finished it myself out of frustration over the weekend. I called them 5 days in advance of their rescheduled date and said I did it myself over the weekend. I asked for an invoice for the shower pan and his one hour on site. He delivered a $400 shower pan they charged me $450 for. They charged me $230 for his hour of time onsite. With travel time included the total bill for a shower pan and an hour of their time was a whopping $816.70!!! I paid them immediately but would never use them again. Even so, I still saved almost $700. No, I would not recommend Purdy Plumbing. read more

(Turns out issue was NOT covered) They took 2 days to come out, showed up unprepared to do any work, and said they could starting looking for the leak on Friday. THIS was 3 days AFTERWARDS. NOT a fan, not good business to leave a person w/o water! They also did noting to patch they water to the house, nor did they even look under the house. read more

I Find it interesting that of the 12 negatives reviews In Yelp that Lori's responses are all defensive and point to the customer being the problem. How can this be in every case? Here's what I experienced. Discrimination as a woman. When I escalated an issue and asked to speak to the owner he was completely condescending and asked to speak to my husband at one point when he thought I wasn't understanding him. I don't have a husband. To assume I need a man to explain things to me is beyond my comprehension in this day and age. The very first part of the call he talked down to me belittling me. It started calm and escalated because I couldn't believe how I was being treated. At one point he handed the phone to Lori who said, "listen Honey" which she called me multiple times in a condescending tone as if you say I knew nothing. She apologized I didn't have a husband (?!) and stumbled over herself saying she's send out her insurance adjuster (they caused damage to a tile wall). I don't care who is wrong or right, but to have any human treat me the way I was treated was absolutely beyond shocking. Never in my life have I been talked to the way they talked to me. Now, what Lori will say is that I was escalated and abusive as her defense, because she has no other defense and will not accept accountability, I used Purdy Plumbing several times prior to this and had good experiences but the second something went array, all they want to do is blame the customers. The guys doing the work have been nice, but I will never support a business that at the top has such chauvinistic, condescending, views toward women. By the way. I've remodeled every single thing in my house and dealt with many contractors and I've never had a problem with any of them "explaining" anything to me as a woman. There also is a fuel charge apparently for each job which of course wasn't disclosed. Who charges a fuel charge? Build it into your pricing or be reasonable and not charge the $9 for a 20 minute drive. read more

Sadly I didn't listen to the previous reviews. This company overcharges and does horrible work. I paid $1400 to have a gas line and kitchen sink put in. They both leaked. After standing me up twice, 4 kitchen floods and no oven for almost two weeks they came out, angry. I had already hired a handyman to fix both problems for half of what I paid them, I asked to be reimbursed for that expense and they called me a liar and told me to call someone else next time. I would use Purdy Plumbing again in a heart beat (if needed!)-- they called to confirm I was using a home warranty for my hot water tank and asked a few questions, very friendly! They said they would call back after looking at the schedule. A few minutes later I got a call from the plumber asking if he could come now and he said he wasn't far away, thankfully that worked out. He was very familiar with the process that needed to be taken since it was going through a home warranty and explained everything to me. He was very patient considering he knew he would have to call a call center. Once he got the go ahead it, he got to work and made it seem easy. He was very efficient! 6 weeks without hot water. We have been working through our supplemental home warranty provider, which ran us around for weeks. 1.5 hour wait times on hold just for step one. Anyway, 1 plumber, 1 electrician and 4 weeks later, Rich at Purdy came by and said that our tankless hot water heater needed to be replaced. Pretty shoddy original install in the end. So they shuffled their heavy work schedule and got us a new, upgraded water heater. The customer service was excellent and I felt great confidence in their knowledge. I found their behavior to this matter SKETCHY and UNPROFESSIONAL. RE: outdoor hose bib leaking / water-well psi When trying to fix my outdoor leaking hose bib, they turned my water-well psi up because they said I needed more water pressure to stop my hose bibs from leaking. He said he didn't work on well-systems, but he worked on it anyway and turned up the psi. I hired a water-well company to come out afterward and they said the plumber turned up the psi way over what it's supposed to be - could have been damaging if I didn't get the water-well guy right out to do it right. Asked the plumber for a partial refund for the time he worked on the water-well psi since he admittedly didn't know how to work on well-systems and turned it up too high, but the company refused. They also charged a fuel charge (I'm only 13 miles from the business) - that was not disclosed when I initially called and asked about all of the pricing. read more

Also sent out by my home warranty service on 3 different occasions. Compared to the others I was satisfied with my service. My water heater was leaking and it had to be replaced which wasn't covered by warranty, but I don't blame this company for it. Had several stopages.. came out and fixed in 1 to 2 days. Never had a situation where I was without water but I would hope I could get same day service for that but again that is a issue you take up w/ your warranty company. read more

Purdy Plumbing Repair saved us.. really. We moved from California.. into a gas leak. PSE turned the gas off and we were without heat, hot water, and our oven/stove for 6 days while we went through 3 plumbing companies until we came across Purdy Plumbing Repair. They were the first company to come out to our home with the appropriate equipment and ethics. They charged us an extremely fair price for their services and even hung around while I called PSE to make sure that we had taken care of all their requirements to have the gas turned back on. On a side note- it's not every day that a repairman will talk you out of the most expensive option for utilities and suggest a cheaper solution that will better fit your needs. I'm sold. When I called I was told by Lori that it would be $119 for first hour and fees may be added on for extra materials and time after that I was billed $119 for 45 mins and $30 for another qtr Hour. I asked Jason, the plumber about this and he said " call Lori". He as very nice , quick and efficient. However, I don't like that they don't wear shoe covers in my house. Be aware of u use them and get the quotes in writing or make sure you get a definite verbal. The job was well done and the plumber was professional and nice. I was just a bit thrown off by the extra 15 minutes to pay. It wasn't mentioned and Initially, it may have been an oversite. At the time it may not have made any difference. read more

Richard came out to my house to work on two jobs. The hard one was a faceplate on a shower valve. Unlike the previous plumber, Richard realized that the cartridge was not originally installed quite right and invented a fix that saved the problem. After going through two other companies, one big and one small, I believe that I have found my plumber. read more

If you are in need of a plumber, DO NOT CALL PURDY PLUMBING!!! My husband and I always try to support the small family local businesses, so we called Purdy Plumbing to come and fix our bathroom tubs that were dripping from the faucet. My husband made it very clear what part needed to be replaced to fix the leak. When they came to our house, they spent 4 minutes looking at our faucets and 10 minutes looking through their van for the part that we told them they needed in order to complete the job. Not only did they not have the correct part, but they showed up 5 hours early for the job, unannounced and said they would have to reschedule. We double checked with the plumber that we would NOT be charged for the visit since they came unprepared and had to reschedule. The employee stated he would NOT charge us and we could call for a reschedule. Needless to say, Purdy Plumbing billed us for an initial inspection and gas/mileage. We attempted several times to discuss the inaccurate billing with their office and their only response was if we didn't pay by a noted date, they would send us to collections. Omg, just let go of my ankles.totally bent over by Purdy Plumbing. Bought stuff at Home Depot. Told by PP that they have to use their supplies at a higher price. $139 hour labor with a 3hour minimum. Took him little over hour. Replaced my perfectly fine expansion tank for new one. There shop is 20 mins away,still had to pay a travel fee and $5 gas charge. I called last Friday (12/29) to have someone come out & fix our toilet. The owner set up an appointment for 3:00 that day. She was nice enough to call & let us know that he wasn't going to make it due to the job he was on was taking longer than expected. OK I can understand that & we set up appointment for 8:30 today (01/02). Due to our schedule that's a bit early for us but we set our alarm for 8:15. He called twice at 8 but we didn't answer. As soon as I got his message at 8:15 I called him back but he informed me that he was already at another job & wouldn't be available for a couple of hours. Which didn't work for us because we had to leave for work shortly after. When I called her to tell her I wouldn't be rescheduling and that I wasn't happy about the situation, I was informed that it wasn't the company's fault that I misunderstood. That their hours are from 8 - 5 so I should've known it was 8, despite the fact that she specifically said 8:30. I even repeated 8:30 to which she confirmed to me was correct. I understand the reason she gave me was because if there is no answer - we may not have been at home but as I told her there could be a million reasons why someone doesn't answer - not just because they aren't home. I'm sure that she'll respond with her excuses as I've seen with the other bad reviews, but this is just bad customer service (I worked over 30 years in customer service so I think I would know) plain & simple. read more
