"Please wait to be seated." It's said right at the entrance. Before we decided to come to this place, me and my hungry buddy made sure that they were still open. We did not want to be coming in during that time where they were just about ready to close. Having a daughter that works in a restaurant, she has told me about how it feels when customers would come in 10 to 5 minutes before closing. It was 10 o'clock in the evening and Roppongi is supposed to be closed at 10:30 PM. It was a weeknight, and it was a warm night. Me and my buddy were dressed very casual he's wearing flip-flops and shorts and tank tops. So was I . There were people inside and the sushi chefs were still actively conversing with the rest of the clientele. My friend lightly waved at the waitress who seemed to be coming towards our direction and surprisingly she seemed to intentionally redirected her gaze to the opposite side of the room. Fast forward to prevent any premature ejacu... I mean, blood bath. We got seated and offered our drinks. We were given the menu and given some time to figure out what we wanted. Eventually we were told that it was last call for the sushi chef because they were close to closing time. Since my buddy was famished, he opted for the Ramen and I opted for the ankimo and the salmon skin salad. In my experience with Japanese dining, one can never go wrong with plain ankimo and salmon skin salad. It's fast (frozen fish liver) and it's smoked fish skin. Our food arrived in not so long. According to my whiny friend :p his Ramen was good. I thoroughly enjoyed my ankimo and also enjoyed my salmon skin salad with an addition of the soup from the ankimo. Our server, the same lady who was not paying attention to us from the moment we arrived at the restaurant preserved the same behavior up to that time and consistently refused to pay attention to my friend whenever he tried to get her attention. During one occasion, he wanted to have our waters refilled, she seem to be looking our away but he totally ignored him when he tried to get her attention by waving towards her direction! What a twat ! There, had to say that (foul-mouthed, you know I can be, motherfuckers!!!) Good thing my friend is very patient. So we finally finished with our mother trucking food. We drank our waters. We took a few selfies ... Yes, we did, and mind you own biz because you didn't pay for our dinner. We left and we were their last customers that night. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner despite the poor service from this Roppongi gigigigi. There is a reason places have a closing time posted on the door. People can and may still come in five minutes before the closing time and they still deserve to be served as normally as if it was an hour before closing time. My buddy and I came in at 10:00 PM. We were treated as if we weren't even there. What is up with that? Was it because we were dressed as if we didn't have a penny? And that waitress who cannot pay attention, does she need some Adderall or metamphetamine ? I can definitely recommend a doctor for her. Doctor Strange. read more

Had lunch with my friend here a couple of weeks ago. Typical Westernized-Asian food. I got one of their udon bowls and was thoroughly underwhelmed. The broth was almost sugary sweet. Maybe I'll give them a second chance with the sushi, but I'd pass on their lunch specials. read more

Happy hour is a MUST! I'm making this spot my go-to place to eat and drink on Sundays. The beer is literally like $2 during happy hour and you get a ton of food to select from. Happy hour starts 9:30-close. This is the ONLY sushi place around that is open till midnight or so. Food and service is great, the girls are so happy and fun all the time. It was our first time at this place. We came in during lunch time, were greeted and seated. The music that was playing was slightly loud. We got our ordered food pretty fast. The only thing there was a misunderstanding about our appetizer. But since they give salad and a miso soup with order I would skip appetizer next time. Food was cooked great. They have a happy hour that has decent, inexpensive pricing. Smaller restaurant, so not good for groups. I was greeted promptly and seated immediately. No wait and I went about 15 minutes before happy hour ended. Happy Hour means, not just cocktails but they have a separate menu with an assortment of items. Plain edamame $1.00 and I love, love their garlic edamame for $3.50. Small Asahi beer only $2.50 (regular 8oz) and Lion King $7. no charge for salads, and my son got spicy tuna for $4 and the spicy salmon (wasn't on happy hour menu, but still only $4.50). Sashimi was just okay. Husband got the 9 piece, salmon, tuna and ahi. Not super fresh, but for $12 couldn't beat it and was satisfactory. Parking is difficult on the street, but head to the back and if you're not there on a weekend, you're okay. First time trying this place.. Ordered for delivery from doordash.. Ordered the bento box 2items teriyaki chicken and teriyaki beef. The chicken was good and fresh and the beef was amazing even a little red and very tender which is what we like. The miso was wonderful and there was enough food for two with one bento box! I ordered the Nigiri Special and got food poisoning here recently. Not a fun experience. Looking back on it, the fish choices they gave me didn't have any of the normal fish you would expect. Honestly the size of their sushi is about the size of the sushi you would get at a Chinese buffet. The quality is slightly better than buffet sushi. Came here for a late lunch with my colleagues. It was happy hour when we got there. We surprised about the prices (quite low) and decided to order a few rolls. Overall, the food was pretty good. Not the best sushi I've had, but I would definitely come back. We had the spicy tuna roll and california roll. Another one of my colleagues got a chicken entree which looked good. Second time at Roppongi..we were greeted right away.we sat at the sushi bar..Roppingi Jr roll and Mexican roll both delish! bento box spicy pork with tempura veggies and goyzas ..it's not too spicy and I like spicy I wanted a little more heat. The veggies were great..the goyzas were also delish you have a choice of meat for the filling I got the pork very tasty! Love this place! The sushi is d'lish and I love that they are right in downtown. I wish their menu was online, but the food is totally worth the wait if you are doing to-go. Dining in is great too, I love that they have indoor and outdoor seating. Service is quick and polite. They have a lot of rolls to choose from and so far I've loved every single one. This is one of the best sushi places in livermore. It is right downtown so the location is great. The fish is always super fresh and yummy. I like to get the deep fried California, the Livermore roll, The mixed deal of nigiri, sashimi, miso soup, and salad is also always fabulous. read more

Was supposed to be a 1st time for us going there... called the restaurant before going to make sure there are available seatings and the person who answered the call said if we want to sit outside there is a wait list but inside there is not a lot of people, he actually got my name and asked me how many we were and told me to cone on over. I really love this place! Right smack in the middle of downtown, is a Pan Asian restaurant serving Korean, and Japanese cuisine, including a sushi bar. I am impressed with their extensive maki menu, and also the traditional Japanese and Koren dishes. I ordered the Crunchy Roll, which was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the Beef Dol Sot, which was unfortunately, rather disappointing. It lacked flavor, and seasoning. The beef was bland, which we took note not to order it again at this place. I had the combination bento with Tonkatsu and short rib. Always a safe choice. It was delicious, and the price was great for the portion. The service was excellent, and understand that the place tends to get a bit busy especially on a Friday and Saturday night. If you are in a hurry, you may not want to eat here, or at least call your order in ahead of time during lunch and peak of dinner service, and just order take out. They also deliver, but I am sure it's during the time they are not slammed. read more

Good sushi spots are hard to come by. When you find a good one. Its hard to leave the place. Ive been a patron of Roppongi sushi since the 1st owners. The newest owners Marc and ellen are the most sweetest and caring people in the sushi game. When i found out the last owner sold over. I was very unsure of this place. But Marc and his staff showed me nothin has changed. I will still get the great customer service and quality of fresh fish in the tri valley. Go to Amakara in Dublin and pay 100$ bill when you can get the same quality and better service at Roppongi for a way lower price. By my standards i can come to Roppongi 5 days, get great service and great food. read more

We stopped by to place a to go order and because of the wait they threw in complimentary edamame, miso soup, and salad. Not a fan. The rolls all have funny, creative names, and I really wanted to like them, but it's a bit to kitchy for me. Numerous rolls to choose from, but all minor variations on the same couple of themes. I rate a sushi spot, primarily, based on the quality and freshness of the fish...and this is a problem for me here. Sunday night dinner with my best friends. OMG the food was awesome !! started with a small salad, then the combo Fat Boy, Cucumber roll and several others rolls. Every bite was scrumptious. Had dinner tonight with 3 other couples at the recommendation of a friend. A little reluctant when I first learned from my wife where we were eating. Ate there about 3 years ago and wasn't impressed. Big surprise! The food, and service was excellent! Sashimi was VERY fresh, and the combo Maki sushi delicious with unique touches (like the addition of Ume). Yum! Very rarely do you get Nigiri where the fish drapes the rice. Wow, that alone is amazing! And the Asparagus Beef used "large" stalks, not the skinny ones at some of the better establishments.
