This is the absolute best Mexican food in the Sacramento region! I've gone there three times in the last month for my dad's, mom's, and my birthday. The staff is always excited and friendly but the food is absolutely amazing! All of the decorations are just top-notch. I can't wait to go again in a week. This is my new favorite spot!

The food was pretty good, but I feel it has some more room to grow, the service was actually willing. Great. We were sitting next to the bartender, and he kept on checking on us to make sure we were OK , and I really appreciate customer service like that. As soon as you're walking in you notice the vibes in this restaurant are really great !! I loved how the restaurant looked inside. Overall id say 4.3-4.5.
We came in on a Tuesday, it wasn't busy so we were seated right away. The server gave us waters and let us look at the menu for a while. There was only one other group in at the same time so it was a little quiet but I imagine it can get crazy on the weekend. The decor was gorgeous. We ordered quite a few drinks along with our food. While everything was a bit pricey the drinks and food were all tasty! I'd come back for food but maybe get drinks elsewhere as the sizes were a bit small for the price.
I loved this place! I came here to celebrate a friend's special occasion, and it was an amazing experience. The food was phenomenal, and the service once we arrived was friendly and attentive. The inside is sooo cute! I absolutely loved the decor. Everything is decorated so uniquely, and it makes the whole experience feel special. The atmosphere is fun, welcoming, and perfect for celebrating with friends and family. The only downside was that it was difficult to get in contact with the restaurant beforehand. I tried calling several times to make a reservation, but no one answered, and one call was even disconnected. Their website also only allows reservations for up to four people, even though they clearly accommodate larger celebrations for friends and families. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and in person service were amazing. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back!
I found Rosa Madera when searching for "queso" in Yelp...(I really was wanting some queso). Anyways, funnily enough, I read through the menu when I got here and ended up getting nachos in place of the queso...that's fine though, it gave me an excuse to come back another day. It's a nice looking place inside, especially considering its general location. They were busy even at an off hour mid-week, but I can see why because the food is great and so is the atmosphere. My first visit, I tried the following: Enchilada Verde (Lunch Menu), Mini Birria Tacos (Lunch Menu), and Nachos de la Casa (with asada). They also brought out complimentary chicharrones de harina, which was especially nice because I was super hungry! My second visit I had the following: Queso Con Rajás Dip, Los Favoritos, and the Burrito de Carnitas (Lunch Menu). I ended up liking the nachos way more than the queso. I wasn't expecting the queso to just be the consistency of slightly melted cheese. I also wish they were a bit more generous with the chips since I ran out of chips way sooner than the dips. No complaints on my main dish portions though! Really loved most things I've tried. The presentation of my dishes I've ordered here, the Enchilada Verde and the Burrito de Carnitas, was great too. The chicken was just slightly too dry for the Enchilada, but the flavor made up for it. Only complaint is while the service was nice, it was SO slow both times I've been here. It took forever to get the check and when they did bring out the card reader you can't see the receipt, only a total. Then their lowest automatic tipping button is set at over 22% (with two higher percent options), which is honestly crazy to me since most places start at around 18%. I way overtipped on accident the first time I came. I think it's highly likely they get overtipped for this reason, which is nice for them but kind of not fair to the customer. I'll continue to return!
This is the go to spot for chilaquiles in town. My go to is the salsa verde chilaquiles. I also love their huevos rancheros. Their drinks are also very delicious including their micheladas. I love that they provide you with chicharones upon arrival at no charge. The service is always top tier. I give the chilaquiles a 13/10 and the huevos rancheros a 9/10
We finally tried Rosa Madera, and it was really good! The service was great, and our food came out super quickly. Everything was delicious, and we definitely enjoyed the experience. Would come back again!
I ordered the quesabirrias and they were delicious! The dish came with 3 tacos, rice, beans, and consommé. The consomme was made from the broth used to slow cook the beef used in the quesabirrias. The quesabirrias were delicious when dipped in the consomme. They were swerved with onions and cilantro on the side, however would have benefited from more veggies. The carne asada nachos were yummy! The nachos contained tomato, onion, cilantro, guacamole, jalapenos, radishes, carne asada, and cheese under fresh tortilla chips. All the ingredients were of high quality and tasted delicious together. Complimentary chicharrones de harina were served with hot sauce. This is the first time I've been to a restaurant that served complimentary chicharrones de harina. Chicharrones de harina are a Mexican snack that are made from fried wheat flour. Service was good as the workers were friendly and polite. They were short staffed so service was slower than if they were properly staffed. It was surprisingly busy around 2pm on a weekday.
Loved the vibes! Great for dates and family celebrations! They have great food and friendly and quick staff. I'd come here again to try the burritos! The rancheros tacos were fireee! Strawberry marg was my fav. Not too sweet. Great seating and chairs. Came on a Friday and there was a mariachi band!
Food was absolutely on point from the tacos, enchiladas, and fresh guacamole to the beef birria chimichanga, which might've been my favorite thing ever. But honestly, the pinwheels instead of the usual chips and salsa? GENIUS. 10/10 food across the board. The service was just as amazing... server was attentive, kind, and patient even while busy. The vibes here are a solid 100. If you're celebrating a birthday, they come out with a sparkler and a drink to celebrate, which made the experience even more fun. I absolutely love the decor here. It is elevated and makes you feel like you're in a different city! Idk, it's just a beautiful place to take someone on a date, have food with friends, or for a celebration. Highly recommend...this is a must visit spot. I'll definitely be back again and again!
This is all about SERVICE. I tried to join their waitlist but could not, thought it was glitching because of Mother's Day. I called no answer, then I drove over at 1:30- joined their list and was told 2.5 hrs. Ok, no problem. Over 3 hours later - still maybe 45 mins. I'm so done. Unnecessary waste of time on Mother's Day It is Mother's Day and super busy but be realistic about time, they are the worst when it comes being realistic. People waited 4 hours, no thank you. We only dined once before for my moms birthday and experienced the same wait times. If you are down to wait for hours go ahead. This has to be stressful for the staff as well. We walked in on a Sun to a beautiful mariachi playing live music. The place is gorg inside and has really nice vibes. You could sit at the bar for a quicker wait time but it took about 30-40 mins for us to get a table. Everyone was super nice though. Once we sat down, things happened quickly. It took about 5 mins for our drinks to come but once we ordered our app guac, It came out really fast. We ordered our food and it came within 5 mins piping hot. I got the garlic shrimp which I was a lil more garlicky. My daughter got pastor/asada tacos which she said were really good and my hubs got shrimp tacos. Even though they were breaded, he said they were soft and delicious. Overall the food was really good and it didn't seem like a lot but we all walked out stuffed. We def will be back!

Good quality food and large portions. Service was great. Allergy and special requests were mindfully accommodated. Decor and ambiance was cool. We were traveling through the area later in the evening, after 9pm. We hoped to find a decent Mexican restaurant. Checked yelp and settled on Rosa Madera. Glad we found them! Will stop in again on our next trip through the area. Chicken Mole, Fajitas, and the Enchiladas were all top notch! read more

We went to Rosa Madera this Mother's Day. We were expecting a crazy wait but we got seated in less than 30 minutes. The food came extremely fast!!! Love that. This place is a whole vibe. Beautiful decorations throughout the whole restaurant . Perfect for date night or catching up with the girls/homies. went there for Happy Hour and it's now my new favorite HH spot ! Prices and portions were great! Will have to come again for the next happy hour. read more
Been here a couple times, the hype is real from the service to the food. Not only does it look nice but the food is very good, for the appetizers the best is las favoritas because you get a mix of everything. All the drinks are good even the aguas frescas. The vibes are greattt, even when you go on a Tuesday night it feels like Saturday. The birthday shots are also very enjoyable. The only thing that sucks is the wait but I will tell you it is worth it and the prices are not bad. read more
Time for an honest review. The food wasn't even close to being good. The rice was mush and bland. The beans however were decent enough. The real bummer though was the chicken in both the molè and the enchiladas. It was so unbelievably bland and dry. Probably because they used boiled chicken breast instead of grilled dark meat. I can't stress enough just how awful that meat was. Just big chunks of unseasoned chicken breast that was hard to even swallow. The drinks from the bar were REALLY good though. Delicious and not too stiff or weak. The service was just ok. Good ambiance. Overall there's MUCH better spots with MUCH better food at MUCH better prices. We were deciding back and forth on this but SOooooo glad we did! The hostess was about seat us in about 8 minutes with a full restaurant. We also were able to switch tables because of the table being unsteady so that was plus one. The waitress seemed busy but on point and eager to help with questions and answers. The vibe was pretty cool with a Mariachi Band and all. They had music as well and everyone was jamming! The food was just the topper with good dishes and great drinks. read more

Everything was really good until I found a long straight hair in my food. I asked if it could be remade and the server took it back, but then when I came home I found the same long strand of hair (or it could've been a new one, idk). While our server was really nice, I really hope that they didn't just reheat my food and tried to pass it off to me as new. Sadly I don't think I'll come back to this establishment. I did notice that most of the servers had their hair down which I think should be changed if this has happened "twice" to me already. Also I knew it was not mine because my hair is curly and was put up in a bun. I was really rooting for this place but this just left a bad taste in my mouth :( read more

We had such a great experience at Rosa Madera! The vibe inside is really fun and welcoming -- just a cool place to relax and enjoy a good meal. Rosie C. was our server and she was seriously the sweetest. Super attentive and even came back after we had ordered to let my mom know the shrimp was going to be breaded on her original order she placed, and my mom wanted grilled so she was able to change what she ordered to get tacos with grilled shrimp instead. She made the whole experience even better. I had the quesabirria tacos and they were SO good , full of flavor and just hit the spot. My mom ordered the tacos Gobernador, the shrimp were fresh and perfectly cooked. We also got the La Quera Picosa drinks and they were fresh, delicious, and perfectly made. Everything was on point. This place was beyond amazing!!! I've been dying to come here for months and finally got to visit and hands down coming back again. Let's start with the service, they are super attentive and the vibe of the place is just dope! The food was just so darn good! It tasted like straight home cooked food. This place was on my list for a while now so glad we finally made it in . It took us 45 mins to get to this restaurant but I don't mind driving to eat at a new place. It was a Saturday night there was a lot of people waiting around outside . I talked to the hostess I put my name on the wait list and she said it would be a two wait for 2 people . No biggie we were lucky enough to find a seat at the bar . The inside is gorgeous you can tell they paid a lot of attention to detail on making all the decor. There is a little open space where u can see a lady making the tortillas handmade . I went over and I talked to the lady making them she was so nice . We order some drinks at the bar Angel and Gerardo where super nice and attentive. Angel was giving us advice about which drink to get he was super helpful. We hung out for a while at the bar then we got called to a table . Carina sat us down and gave us these little circle chicharrones instead of chips and salsa . We got some food it was delicious with the homemade tortillas . Carina was super attentive and very bubbly we had conversations about my nails she was so sweet . One thing about this place their service went above and beyond. They had birthdays left and right when there's a Birthday they turn up the music and sing Happy Birthday to the person . The vibes were fun with the music I loved it . Definitely a great place to check out for a fun evening. read more

Since it's located in a shopping center by a grocery store, there is ample parking but because this place is still quite popular, it still fills up fast. I highly recommend using open table to put your name on the waitlist before coming because wait times can be over an hour even on a weekday. Inside really beautifully decorated. A huge improvement from the previous establishment. We were served duritos (puffed wheat pinwheels) instead of chips and salsa which I actually liked. I had a michelada and it really peppery which I wasn't a fan of. My wife and I split the molejecte. It was a decent size and was the perfect amount for the 2 of us. It's a really nice place but because of the hype surrounding it right now, if you don't have patience, I'd say wait to come until it dies down a bit. read more
Talk about vibes!! This place is it, from the drinks, to the food, to the esthetics (great photo spots), to the birthday celebrations. Came here on a Tuesday night for dinner and it was PACKED. First time here so I wasn't sure what to expect but the vibes did not disappoint, lol. When people were celebrating their birthday, they brought out a sparkler and drinks (shots), almost felt like I was in the club watching bottle service get delivered if you don't like a fun place and want a quiet dinner, this is definitely not the place to go. I love that they brought downtown energy to south sac. Only reason for rating a 4 was that I am pescatarian and haven't ate meat in years so I ordered cheese enchiladas but when the food came out it was chicken enchiladas, guess the server didn't hear me (or wasn't really paying attention) but all was fine they corrected the mistake. read more

I was excited to finally make it to this highly acclaimed restaurant. First off, the exterior of the restaurant did not prepare me for the beautiful esthetics inside! You really feel like you are in an establishment in Mexico. The chairs and benches are so comfortable which is a plus. I loved the Mexican jarros/plates used. 10/10 for making us feel like we were visiting Mexico. Food: Then menu has so many options! It was hard to narrow down our final choices. Our server was so helpful and patient. I had the molcajete michoacano, my family had the tacos de papa, enchiladas de pollo (mole and chile rojo), and shrimp tacos to name a few dishes. The food was all delicious! The salsa they put on the tacos de papa reminded me of my MIL's salsa. My molcajete was so delicious - the salsa with the riblets is amazing! I plan to return to try other items on the menu. Drinks: They have so many drink options just like with the food menu. I had the chica fresa and it was so good, not too sweet and just wonderfully refreshing. Certain drinks on the menu trigger a show when your drink is being brought out (be prepared). Birthday: We were celebrating my sister's birthday but turns out that so were many others parties there. You get the option of a shooter or a flan dessert and the staff comes out singing to the birthday person with lit sparkles. It's an awesome experience for the birthday person! The only reason why I rated this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because the music is really loud all the time. It goes from loud to louder when they come out to sing HBD to someone or when they are bringing out a specialty drink. It just felt like a lot was going at once (some of our party was overstimulated). I recommend noise canceling headphones for babies or people that are overstimulated by noise. read more

HOT NEW BRUNCH / BREAKFAST IN SACRAMENTO ELK GROVE LOCATION! This is definitely one of the don't judge a book by its cover type hidden gem. It is across the street of cosumnes river college in the plaza of foods co, tucked in the very back of the area. You will not notice this place at first as it blends in with the neighboring buildings, but once you're inside, you are entranced by the beauty and energy of this magnificent place. The place is very vibrant, colorful, cultural, and very inviting. Such a historical vibe with the staff quick on their feet and serves you instantly. This is becoming my number one brunch spot as the food can definitely speak volumes for itself. Each dish is very flavorful, seasoned to perfection! The aroma makes you jealous of others as you wait for your own to arrive. The carnitas was pull apart, smoky, and juicy that was accompanied by a smooth and creamy bean on the plate. The tres leches French toast will turn you into a 5 year old all over again. If I had the stomach, I'd order the entire menu, but I will definitely come back to try the others! The drinks that ANGEL had made were spot on. Each drink was a signature for their breakfast/brunch menu. Each was smooth and the perfect balance to entice the palate. read more

So here's an update: Rosa Madera is 2/2. I live over an hour away but the hubby and my daughter and myself decided to go for dinner. First no reservations on weekend only Google waitlist. It gets busy in the evenings on weekends so time yourself. But the food as amazing AGAIN! I had the pastor tacos again and hubby had the shrimp tacos. Those were sooooo good. That's my new favorite and I'm not known to order shrimp tacos but those were A-ma-zing! My daughter had the ceviche and she loved it. The atmosphere is very festive with a live mariachi band so if you're looking for a quiet evening out the weekend on evenings may not be for you. I love it. Again 2/2! read more

Came for brunch and everything I tried was delicious, from the French toast to the Flautas. Very lively ambiance with music, a mariachi performed as well but I'm not sure if that is a daily thing. So many things on the menu I'd like to come back and try. Our server was very patien , pleasant and had a happy demeanor despite the amount of additional drinks we ordered. Highly recommend their michelada and the cocktail Rosas del cielo ( tastes like a strawberries and crème from Starbucks). Everything we ordered arrived in a timely manner. read more
My dad chose this place for his birthday dinner, and. man was it a dinner! We started out with drinks, my father taking it upon himself to order a cocktail in a BOWL. insanity. He enjoyed it nonetheless. I sipped on a DC (Diet Coke) (finished it within minutes) and we split a couple appetizers. The birria chimichangas were so good, the consume was great and the guac was also pretty good! The chips were a bit under cooked, my sister got a slightly raw tortilla at some point, but we ate them anyways. Everyone enjoyed their food, although the beans were.... a tad watery??? flavorless?? Unforch, none of us ate the beans. The interior was really nice, and the reggaeton constantly playing was a fun touch. (Although they skipped my favorite Young Miko song, and i will admit I was a tad disappointed.) I apologize to the waiters who had to deal with my father. He ordered another "soup" against our wishes and I think our waiter was a little afraid. Again, I am so sorry. We enjoyed our dinner despite everything going on, and we were all full before we could finish our plates. I would definitely go back and try some different items off the menu! When we arrived we checked in and were told there was a 2 hour wait! The food looked so good, I was willing to wait but luckily we only had to wait about 15 minutes and we were able to be seated. The ambiance was nice and it was really busy, we had our kids so it is kid friendly. I do want to return without the kids to really experience this place. The servers were great! Food was delicious, I mean I highly recommend this spot for a date night! I had the chicken and shrimp fajitas and it was to die for!!! The drinks were delicious as well! Overall it's so many amazing things to say about this place, my advice is see for yourself ! read more

Taco Tuesday Wins, Wallet Weeps Came here to celebrate a birthday dinner with family. We were looking for somewhere festive with good food and strong drinks -- Rosa Madera delivered on both. We dove into their Taco Tuesday specials, and honestly? Highly recommended. The tacos were packed with flavor -- juicy, well-seasoned, and made with fresh ingredients. Everything we tried tasted great, from the appetizers to the mains. Nothing disappointed in terms of flavor. The vibe here is lively and stylish -- definitely has that upscale, night-out energy. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure the birthday celebration felt special. The place was buzzing but not too loud for conversation. Pro Tips: * Definitely hit up Taco Tuesday -- it's the best value on the menu. * Drinks are pricey, so maybe plan ahead if you're ordering rounds. * The place is loud and gets super busy, so plan ahead. Overall, I'd give this place a solid 4 out of 5 stars. The food was legit and the atmosphere was perfect for a celebration. My husband surprised me with an early Valentine's day lunch date. I've been wanting to try out this place for awhile now, so when we pulled up to the shopping plaza, I had a feeling it was either sushi or this place. Walking in, it was bright and beautifully decorated. We even noticed how beautiful and sturdy the table was. We sat by the front windows, so it was extra bright out, but it was a rainy day, so not too bad. I can see how it can be a bother if it were sunny out. Immediately, our waitress came up and asked what we wanted in spanish. My husband and I looked at each other, then at her. She never made eye contact and proceeded to ask again and finally looked up. She apologized and spoke to us in English. Although my husband is half mexican, he does not speak Spanish. After that, we barely saw our waitress. We ordered the los favoritos to share and I ordered the berry romantic spritz from their drink specials menu. That drink came out so beautiful and tasted light with just a perfect hint of blackberries and sweet. I'm not a fan of sweet alcoholic beverages, but this I'd order again on a nice and warm day. Surpringly, I got a nice buzz off of that one drink. The appetizer was so flavorful and plentiful, my husband and I were impressed. I ordered the shrimp plate, which came with tortillas, they were good as well, but I only ate one since I was already full off the apps. My husband enjoyed his taco plate, I think they were chicharrones. We are looking forward to another visit soon. This would be a great spot for a celebratory occasion or just a fun night out. Wow, wow, wow! We walked in on an early Wednesday evening and by surprise made it in time for happy hour! This place is BEAUTIFUL! Service was quick to get us started with drinks and apps. The place was just starting to fill up as happy hour ended. This place seemed popular for large groups as 4 large parties were dining during our visit. Food was great! We opted for nachos and chimichangas for apps. Which came out so incredibly fast! The margaritas are fantastic (did take a bit to get our drinks) Our server was very attentive, courteous and had a great attitude! (I wish we got her name) The deep fried ice cream is a MUST and we'll be back for that alone! Parking was ample but it was somewhat hidden in the back of the parking lot and being unfamiliar with the area felt the signage a was lacking. The decor is top notch although my only complaint is the tables in the bar area didn't allow for leg room as the table bases were large so it did make for slightly awkward and uncomfortable sitting. The joint is LIVELY and super fun for birthdays as they crank up the music and come out with flashing lights and a sparkler desert! All eyes on the birthday folks!! What a fun experience! read more
