Rosa Madera is such a beautifully designed restaurant. The space is pretty, romantic, and perfect for a nice night out. I do agree with some of the reviews that the place is very compact. You can hear every conversation around you, and if the music is turned up even a little more, you would have to start yelling just to talk. That part took away from enjoying time with my company because the whole point of going out is to have a good time together. The food overall was good and the staff was very attentive. The menu feels a little overwhelming, so I wish they offered recommendations on their best or most popular dishes. We ordered the happy hour margaritas and they were on the sweeter side. The flavor was still good, but a bit too sweet for me. I liked that they offered different flavors, but I think our order was mixed up because we ordered peach and it did not taste like peach at all. My family of 6 (4 adults + (8yrs old and 2yrs old) and I visited this place today for the 1st time and it was late lunch. We checked in for wait list at 230p, didnt get seated over an hour later. Service was a bit chaotic, restaurant was pretty full with 6+ ppl per tables celebrating bdays and graduations. Servers didn't know what tables were assigned to them. Food was average. It was served randomly, not all came at once. Ambiance was really great. I like the less taqueria style. One thing I wanted to note when you order an entrée you only get 2 tortillas per order. Imagine if you order the combo fajita and you only have 2 tortillas. when we asked how money tortillas was given to us our server said 6 but we only had 5... she actually continued to argue that she served us 6. So glad they opened a place like this in Sacramento! The vibe reminded me of Toca Madera in Scottsdale, but on a smaller scale. We sat at the bar waiting for our table, then got sat, waited 15 minutes until I had to ask a bartender or manager if we could get some chips to hold us over. I rarely saw our server. I've been wanting to check out Rosa Madera for some time know, but the long waits in the past made for no such luck before. This time however while the wait for a table flwas a 90 minute wait, bar seating for open so decided to dine there. We were greeted by the bar tenders and provided drink & food menus quickly. After spending a little time looking over everything, we started off with an appetizer and drinks. Overall we ordered the following: Complimentary: Pinwheel chips & hot sauce Appetizers: Flautas de Tinga Drinks: Guava Margarita El Coyote Coconut Margarita Tamarindo Margarita Main Courses: Filete Tropical Filete Zarandeado The food was delicious. The chicken flautas were nice and hot and perfectly flaky, and the melted cheese and chicken was perfect. And my order of the Filete Zarandeado (Grilled bass with spice Adoba sauce) was amazing. I also liked the fresh Nopales (cactus) and diced red tomatoes on top as well. My girlfriend also really liked her Filete Tropical, and said it had a nice little but of heat as well. While dining and taking everything in, we got to witness two separate Rosa Madera birthday celebrations. While is an experience in itself jist to watch. Imagine getting celebrated like you're in a nightclub in Vegas. And the staff come out as the music plays, while all carrying a giant shooting sparklers, a strobe light, and birthday dessert. And singing happy birthday to you, as the entire restaurant joins in with them. Talk about an awesome celebration of that special guest...kudos! Stopped in during brunch hour on a Saturday morning with a group of friends! Upon walking in, I felt like I was transported to Mexico! The decor, music, and overall atmosphere felt very authentic. We were there to celebrate a friends birthday but were never asked if we were celebrating anything, this was unfortunate as we would have loved to get her a dessert to celebrate her birthday in some way. Stopped by this restaurant after a paint day if you are stopping by on a Friday Saturday or Sunday, there is no reservations, but they do stay pretty busy I would suggest joining their waitlist or at least checking in a half an hour to an hour before going The exterior and interior are both incredible. The decoration is so nice so welcoming it almost transports to this beautiful forest. As soon as you sit down, you will get a bowl of Mexican style chips which are complementary to munch on before you order. This is also an amazing place if you want to celebrate a special occasion as they have a sparkler and a really great environment or any celebration. I was able to try the mixed fajitas which had chicken beef and shrimp grilled up fajita style. It was piping hot steam coming off of it. Delicious. Bold flavors. We had to try out at least one of each dessert so we did get the flan and strawberry cheesecake and their fried ice cream. They were all so delicious perfectly sweet. My absolute favorite has to be the fried ice cream. You get this giant bowl of ice cream deep-fried and crispy dough on top of a bunielo style Taco shell that is dusted with sugar and cinnamon!! The entire meal was incredible. Delicious and I have to come back here again. It was a wonderful experience. The staff was all incredible. I did not catch the waitress's name, but she was amazing. She also made the recommendation about getting one of each with the Baja tacos (good looking out). The restaurant is so adorable! The complimentary chicharrones laced with a light hot sauce was tasty, light and crisp. I had the enchiladas rajas that looked like mini tacos made with chicken and potatoes, in a light red sauce, topped with shredded cabbage and a vinegar-like sauce that I asked for on the side. It was different from a typical enchilada but it was good. Several had the fajitas trio, which came out steaming hot, and looked delicious, but the chicken was a bit dry. The fajitas came with readymade fresh and hot tortillas. All dishes came with rice and beans and it was delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal, and can't wait to try their other dishes because there is such a variety to choose from. The he service was excellent, and the server was very helpful explaining the dishes to us. I have been searching for a restaurant that served good mole and I believe I have found it here at Rosa Madera. Their Mole was probably the most flavorful I've tasted thus far. First time trying this place. Food is really good. We ordered huevo con chorizo and green chilaquiles with chicken, it was delicious and the portions were good. The service is very good, we did to have to wait because we decided to eat at the bar area, but if we wanted to get a regular table we should wait at least 25 minutos ( on weekends the restaurant is very busy). Our waitress was very friendly. We experienced live music ( mariachi) we do not know if that was for special event or if the mariachis play every weekend. Wow, just wow. I honestly don't even know where to begin. We was so impressed from the moment we walked in. The decorations throughout the restaurant are beautifully done and really set the vibe. We were told the wait would be about 40 minutes, which we didn't mind because we've been wanting to try this place for a while, but we were seated in closer to 20 minutes. While waiting, I noticed how attentive the staff was and how happy all the patrons seemed. It already felt like a great experience before we even sat down. They also had a complimentary mariachi playing, which added such a fun and lively atmosphere. At times the regular music would get a loud, but it was part of the birthday celebrations the staff would do, which were actually really entertaining to watch. Every time the music started, I found myself looking around so I wouldn't miss the show. Our server, Cesar, was hands down one of the most attentive and friendly servers I've ever had. He made us feel genuinely welcome, answered all of our questions, and consistently checked in without being overbearing. I also noticed him giving the same level of care to other tables, which says a lot about the service here. For drinks, we ordered the Rosa's del Cielo and the Paloma Enamorada. The Rosa's del Cielo was perfection; a light, creamy strawberry drink that was so good it felt dangerous because I could have easily ordered several more. The Paloma Enamorada was more refreshing, like a classic Paloma with a strawberry twist. For food, we ordered the enfrijoladas made with homemade tortillas, which had a rich, savory blend of creamy refried beans and came with meat, rice, and beans. We also had the enchiladas verdes, filled with shredded chicken and cheese in perfectly tangy green sauce, also served with rice and beans. Lastly, the Mi Ranchito plate featured thinly sliced steak, whole beans, refried beans, cactus salad, and a small tostada topped with chorizo and beans. The steak was cooked perfectly and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. Overall, everything from the atmosphere and entertainment to the service and food was on point. She brought her niece along and it was her birthday recently so we ended up requesting for a birthday surprise which consist of a candle and a mango mojito shot!
