A friend and I came here for lunch before we had to attend a work event. We both were super hungry and were craving Mexican food. Rosa Madera sabores de México Mexican restaurant is tucked away in the south east corner of the ------- shopping center. Upon entering this little restaurant I noticed the impecable Mediterranean decor. The south wall in the entry way is adorned with ceramic Mexican style pottery. To the left is an enormous full length "wall to wall" bar and a gorgeous Freda Cualo painting overlooks the main dining room to the right. Suspended from the vaulted exposed ceiling are several woven lanterns in addition to wood stalks intertwined with red roses and twinkle lights, which align the wall decor. Once seated we were served with iced water paired with a complimentary bowl of chicarrones. Moments later the waiter appeared to take our orders. I ordered additional chips, salsa, and guac as an appetizer as my friend was interested in trying the guacamole , which was freshly mashed and came topped with pico de gallo and sliced radishes. The red salsa was prepared "arriba" style with flash fried blackened chiles. I could've made this antojito appetizer a meal by itself but I had already ordered my 3 shredded beef tacos with beans and rice. My friend ordered a sample plate with taquitos sliced chimichanga, and enchiladas. Both plates were extremely generous...be mindful to bring your appetite when dining here. I was pleasantly surprised with the prompt courteous service and have all intentions to return as soon as possible.

Food was absolutely on point from the tacos, enchiladas, and fresh guacamole to the beef birria chimichanga, which might've been my favorite thing ever. But honestly, the pinwheels instead of the usual chips and salsa? GENIUS. 10/10 food across the board. The service was just as amazing... server was attentive, kind, and patient even while busy. The vibes here are a solid 100. If you're celebrating a birthday, they come out with a sparkler and a drink to celebrate, which made the experience even more fun. I absolutely love the decor here. It is elevated and makes you feel like you're in a different city! Idk, it's just a beautiful place to take someone on a date, have food with friends, or for a celebration. Highly recommend...this is a must visit spot. I'll definitely be back again and again!

This is all about SERVICE. I tried to join their waitlist but could not, thought it was glitching because of Mother's Day. I called no answer, then I drove over at 1:30- joined their list and was told 2.5 hrs. Ok, no problem. Over 3 hours later - still maybe 45 mins. I'm so done. Unnecessary waste of time on Mother's Day It is Mother's Day and super busy but be realistic about time, they are the worst when it comes being realistic. People waited 4 hours, no thank you. We only dined once before for my moms birthday and experienced the same wait times. If you are down to wait for hours go ahead. This has to be stressful for the staff as well. Food was delicious! Great friendly Service. The building itself is understated and you wouldn't expect it in the shopping center but once you open the door, the ambience is so romantic and the decorations are cute. I had the espresso martini that had banana Lecure it honestly wasn't my favorite but drinkable. We also had the appetizer with the flautas and chimichangas and the nachos. Absolutely delicious.! and then we had the Carnitas and steak platter. They were out of cactus so we were a little bummed but everything was so delicious. We are definitely going back to try other dishes

We walked in on a Sun to a beautiful mariachi playing live music. The place is gorg inside and has really nice vibes. You could sit at the bar for a quicker wait time but it took about 30-40 mins for us to get a table. Everyone was super nice though. Once we sat down, things happened quickly. It took about 5 mins for our drinks to come but once we ordered our app guac, It came out really fast. We ordered our food and it came within 5 mins piping hot. I got the garlic shrimp which I was a lil more garlicky. My daughter got pastor/asada tacos which she said were really good and my hubs got shrimp tacos. Even though they were breaded, he said they were soft and delicious. Overall the food was really good and it didn't seem like a lot but we all walked out stuffed. We def will be back!

I would describe this restaurant as: upscale Mexican. Everything is elevated. The decor is Instagram worthy. The food presentation is thoughtful. The service is refined, and the atmosphere is almost club-like. We were here on a busy Saturday night and sat at the bar for dinner rather than waiting for a table. The restaurant was poppin' with birthday celebrations. Shots were served with fanfare by multiple waitstaff with flashing strobe lights, sparklers, and heavy club music. It felt like bottle service at a club. The food is a cut above. You aren't served tortilla chips and salsa here. Rosa Madera doesn't want to be just another Mexican restaurant. Instead you're served chicharrones chips. The Los Favoritos appetizer platter is hearty enough for 3-4 people with Flautas de tinga, birria chimichangas, and nachos Al pastor. All were good. I had the Tacos De Ranchera which were hefty and tasty. The order comes with two tacos and were filling. My friend got the fajitas trio which looked *super* good and had in it massive pieces of chicken, steak and shrimp. Everything was good, tasty, different, and just a little bit "extra" to make this dining experience unique. I will be back to try other items on the menu!

Came here recently for a birthday dinner with family and it was a lovely experience. First I want to say thanks to the staff who were very accommodating in rearranging tables to make sure we had enough room for our party. The staff were friendly and helpful in serving our large party. The inside of the restaurant is so beautiful, the decor is romantic with lots of flowers and warm lights. There were people there celebrating birthdays (not just us), on dates, and having dinner with friends and family. The menu is very large with lots of options, the prices are on par with other "nicer" Mexican restaurants in the area. I everyone ordered something different and seemed to enjoy their choices. I got the birria plate and it was delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly and was flavorful, I wish it came with more than two tortillas! The cocktails were also delicious. I would come again!

Stopped by Rosa Madera on Easter Sunday with my family. When we arrived there were a couple families waiting, but we were quoted about 10 minutes which wasn't bad at all. First thing you notice is the decor. The place is really beautiful and has a more upscale feel. The murals inside are a nice touch, and they have a full bar along with larger tables for bigger parties. The music is pretty loud and gives more of a night club vibe. I ordered the filete con camarones al ajo. The filet and shrimp were really good, but the beans and rice were just okay. The handmade corn tortillas were definitely a highlight. We also tried the pollo en mole and my mom said she would come back but probably wouldn't order that again. My dad ordered the filete zarandeado and said it was good but his rice was a bit hard so he didn't really eat it. Service is where things could improve. There seemed to be a lot of staff around but our server didn't seem very enthusiastic. She checked in but it felt a bit rushed and not very welcoming. Overall the decor really stands out and makes the place feel special. With a little more warmth in the service and some consistency with the food, this could easily be a great spot. I would come back especially to try the drinks.

Saturday 330pm. Just about half full at the tables but all the bar tables and bar was empty. Everyone has been telling me about this place. And we can't wait to come back. The decor has just the right details for authenticity. La Virgen and Frida Kahlo on the walls. Pretty baskets and greenery hanging from the ceiling. Went to wash my hands and noticed the bathroom had nice tiles on the walls and similar baskets and greenery. I like it when places extend their beauty to the bathrooms. (Small issues here with overflowing trash cans but thats minor overall.) ... we came here for the food of course! We ordered the LOS FAVORITOS - sampler and some aguas frescas. The sampler has Flautas de tinga, nachos al pastor, birria chimichangas. The attached pic isn't beautiful but we asked for everything on the side (Sides of guac, crema, salsa, and pico de gallo.). The meats were amazing. The flautas and the chimichangas were fried perfectly. There is something special about the Al pastor - you have to try it. It's different than any I've had but in a good way. The guacamole was also great. It wasn't over run with onions and it featured the avocados. I'm picky with guacamole- but that's just me. Hubby asked for an extra side of something spicier and they brought out a dark salsa that had a smoky and spicy flavor - it had a kick at the end for sure. TIP - get there when they open. Our amazing server said if you get there after 430pm you will be waiting.

Wow! What a beautiful place! I loved the food here it was really amazing! I was able to clean off my plate be ate it was super yummy. I came here with my girlfriends for Galentines and it was 7 of us and we enjoyed every moment of it. I loved our server, he was very kind. For the wait time, it was pretty busy! They only sit your parties if all your all here so there was a delay on our set reservation time. Regardless, the food was worth a wait. They celebrate birthdays as well so they put very loud music and come celebrate you!! Will comeback here again!!

Heard from many people that this was a great place to go eat and the food was really good so we decided to give it a try. First appearance when you walk in this is one of the cutest restaurants I've ever been to! I love the /hen B/, Tic decor and plates and cups and the vibe ball around. Perfect for a date night or even a larger celebration. The bar area looked super nice as well. Our server Araceli was extremely nice and helpful in us making our selection because there was so many good things on the menu. It was hard to pick! To start off for an appetizer, we got the trio because we wanted to get multiple things so that was perfect! Everything on there was bomb and the salsa we killed immediately and we should've asked for more! For dinner, I decided to go with the chicken mole enchiladas and my husband got the birria sopes. Both were a five out of five! The mole was not too sweet and the enchiladas were stuffed with chicken. The beans and rice on the side were bomb. My husband says the sopes were more on the classic traditional tasting side and he loved them! We have already text our friends about it and plan to go back and try more things on the menu!

I've been to this place a few times now. Every time I've come, absolutely, everything was great. The different dishes I've tried, every dish was full of flavor and good. This place does get busy, especially during the weekends. We always come early. They do not take reservations. I've heard they do a brunch on the weekends. I do want to try one day. read more

We got lucky to enjoy the few minutes of their happy hour. Just make sure to remind the server bc they give you a regular menu despite the time. It's so festive inside especially when the mariachi band was present. That was the highlight of the night! We came during the week and it gets full inside easily plus long waits outside. Online reservations does not work, they said call few days ahead but we tried and no one was answering. Regardless, it's worth the visit! read more

I decided to take my friend out for a dinner date to cheer him up after a breakup. I found this place through a Sacramento foodie Instagram account--it looked fun and trendy, and it definitely had that high-energy vibe. But fair warning: it's not the place to go if you're hoping to catch up and have a conversation. Every time there's a birthday (which seemed like every 2 minutes), the music cranks up, the staff comes out with hand held flashing lights and sparklers, and either cake or tequila shots. It's fun if you're in party mode, but probably not ideal if you're just trying to enjoy a mellow dinner. We went on a Tuesday night. There was a wait, but since it was just the two of us, we were seated quickly at a tall table near the bar. The complimentary pork rind-style chips they bring out were surprisingly good--especially with some hot sauce (according to my friend). I ordered the Baja tacos--one shrimp, one fish. The shrimp taco wasn't spicy but was so soggy that the shell completely fell apart, and I ended up picking at it piece by piece, which was super messy. The fish taco was the opposite--very spicy, despite me telling the server I couldn't do spice. He acknowledged it, so either it was forgotten or the wrong salsa was added. Either way, I couldn't eat it and ended up giving it to my friend. The decor was pretty, the music was fun, and the people were cool, but the food and noise level didn't quite hit the mark for me. If I could, I'd give it 3.5 stars. I'd recommend it for birthdays or celebrations--but not for a casual dinner or if you're hoping to actually hear your dinner date talk. read more

Waiting time was over 1 hr on a Sunday @ 1pm . Food was authentic and hot, my only real issue was how LOUD it was. Live Mariachi was fun, but added to the level, making it almost painfully loud. The atmosphere was great , the food was as adventurous. read more

I've only been for brunch but each time it's amazing! The restaurant is so beautifully decorated, every angle is picture-perfect. The servers have all been great, really helpful with recommendations and patient when we come in with a big group. Everything I've ordered from the menu is incredible! The food is so flavorful and the portions are generous. For brunch, I always order the cafe de olla- it's the best I've ever had! Looking forward to come for dinner soon! read more

Love the vibe here! Love the music, drinks & food. There were so many birthday celebrations the night I was here. Food was good & the drinks were perfect. Happy hour is 2p-6pm Mon-Thurs. I had the carnitas plate with flour tortillas. The food was excellent and the service was superb. This restaurant is beautiful. I loved the decor. There were quite a few tables celebrating special occasions and the servers would come out with sparklers to bring attention to those tables. Each time the sparklers came out creating a party atmosphere, the volume of the music in the restaurant would become uncomfortably loud. That was my only complaint. But the food is amazing and I will definitely return. read more

I've been wanting to try this place alot. It didn't disappoint. Yhe food was tasty and happy hour is until 6. I will definitely be back, portion sizes are not small. I had shrimp and bass, rice and beans with tortillas. So much good food. If you're celebrating something, go here. They'll help you celebrate right. I think because they stay very busy, there may be a delay in the hostess checking up on you. Party atmosphere at times, if you want a quiet and intimate place pick another location. read more

Recently visited with some girlfriends to celebrate a birthday, and we had such a blast! We got there around 1 PM, and while it was a bit loud, it really added to the fun vibe. The decor is super colorful and feels like a party! I had the shrimp enchiladas, and wow, they were so good--everything came out hot! I also tried two of the mango margaritas, and they were amazing--definitely a 10/10. At one point, I joked with my friends, "Did we come to Miami for lunch?" It really felt like a mini getaway since we don't have anything like this around us. Just a tip: they don't take reservations, and the waiting area is pretty small. They'll only seat you once your whole party is there, so keep that in mind if you plan to go. Overall, I can't wait to come back! read more

The food was very tasty and I liked the different varieties of Mexican food. Not the same old, same old. Drinks were very good also. Service was mostly good just had our dirty plates sitting there a little too long for my liking. Ambiance very nice. The one problem I'm sorry to say is apparently they have mariachi's playing every Thursday-Sunday and they put us (4 ladies) all the way in the back right where they were set up to play.. They were extremely loud so we could not talk the whole while they played!!!!! They seriously need to tone it down. I will go back BUT NOT EVER ON THOSE DAYS!!! read more

My dad had surgery at the nearby Kaiser today. Googled this place the first time in the area months ago. Returned again today. Ordered a michelada. Yum. Dinner was the potato carnitas tacos and beans and rice. Mom ordered the chili rellanos and we swapped. The food was delicious! Leslie the waitress was sweet. I Was going to visit my sister in Sacramento and came across this spot on TikTok. There was about a 3hr wait but I decided to stick it out since I drove from Oakland. Despite the long wait time I will say I would 100% do it again! The food was soooo good and can't wait to go back for the enchiladas. The inside is really beautiful and the staff comes out with sparklers and music like you're in the club when it's someone's birthday lol! Okay this is a two part review. I came here yesterday for my birthday and let me tell you. A time was had. Rosa Madera made this Birthday one for the books. From start to finish everything was amazing. From the mariachi band singing me Happy Birthday and the excellent food. I couldn't ask for anything else. Also side note. 4 stars!!!! Although I didn't order food, this rating is based on the cocktails, service and ambiance! So I came here for happy hour and upon entering I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor and ambiance of this restaurant. If you are familiar with this area, you already know that the parking lot can look downtrodden. But as soon as you walk into this restaurant, you will feel like you're in a posh Mexican restaurant located on the shores of Puerto Vallarta! This place is absolutely stunning! We came for happy hour and our bartender, Mikey, was cool and made awesome drinks. Unfortunately, I am unable to rate their food quality but I definitely recommend this restaurant for happy hour if you're in the South Sacramento/ North Laguna area! read more

Amazing customer service, everyone was super welcoming and very attentive to our needs. We went a little later right before closing and the bartender Andrés made our night. The food was delicious and fairly priced for the amount you're served. Drinks were delicious and beautiful with lots to choose from. The menu had so many different options and I'm excited to try more from them!! It is a "birthday spot" though meaning that it gets quite loud when they bring out the bottles/cake etc. but I didn't mind at all! What a gem! This place in the Winco - yes Winco - shopping area looks quiet from the outside but enter Rosa Madera and you are transported to some place beautiful in a nano second. The decor and vibe is FUN! vibrant and welcoming! The food is outstanding. Fresh and tasty. My friends and I came for lunch. All of the attendees are foodies and everyone loved the food. Pro tip if you come on Saturday take advantage of brunch and have the tea leches French toast it is awesome! Service is fast and friendly. The bar service was great with lots of options. When I come back I am going to get margarita flight which is three different margaritas served. Family friendly but also fun enough to accommodate an adult party too! The vibe is great. What a fun place! Came in for happy hour on a Tuesday afternoon. Ordered queso con chorizo, nachos al pastor, birria chimichanga, and a couple of tacos. Tacos were $2 each. Other apps were $8. Great prices. We shared everything. Queso was creamy to the end. Chips held up well. Nachos al pastor were flavorful. Birria chimichanga were crispy and delicious. Tried the Jamaica margarita. It has hibiscus syrup. The music in restaurant was energetic. They turn down the room lights about 5pm and switch to table lights. It wasn't too loud on this visit. Rey was our server. He was everywhere including bartending. The staff work well together to take care of customers. read more

Went for happy hour and wasn't too busy on a Friday at 4:30! We order the asada fries, flautas, birria chimichangas, and mini birria tacos. Food: I definitely don't recommend this place for vegetarians. I believe their beans and rice are made with lard. Drinks: 10/10 their drinks are fabulous and so are their bartenders too! Service: bartenders were amazing but the food servers, not bad at all. I would give it 9/10 for food servers. Ambiance: WAY TOO LOUD, if you are meeting up with a friend or someone who you want to have a conversation, do not, do not go there. Food is a 10/10! Flavors and portions are all there! The coffee is perfect too! Why not 5 stars? The noise level (music mostly) inside is club like. For a Sunday brunch hour this was too much for me and my family to handle. We literally had to text each other to be able to communicate. People are trying to yell over the music so that makes it even louder. Also, service is a bit lacking. You see your waiter when you arrive and order, once when food is delivered and then that's it. There is a $2 charge for coffee refill (a bit much) but I didn't have to worry because they never came back. I had to go to the bar to ask for a water refill. Important note for parents with young children or women like myself who have to use the restroom frequently - there are 2 bathrooms. Plan accordingly and be prepared to stand in line. Think of this is an upscale Mexican restaurant. As soon as you walk up there's a red carpet welcoming you! Inside, it's lovely decor with tall windows and beautiful lighting. Colorful and picturesque murals on the wall, complementing the wooden furniture and accents. You are met with friendly staff and a large menu, plenty of options for all! I had dinner at Rosa Madera last night, a Thursday, and wow it was super packed! When I checked in, the hostess let me know the wait would be around 45 minutes, but it ended up being over an hour and I felt like the parties ahead list moved very slowly. The ambiance and the decor is stunning and the vibe is lively if you want a club-like experience. That said, it was very loud, which made it a bit overstimulating for me and my friend as we were hoping to catch up. Between the music and the mariachi (which were both great!), we found ourselves shouting to hear each other. If you're looking for a more low-key dining experience, this might not be the best spot for that. One thing I loved was how big they go for celebrations--birthdays feel like you're in a club, and it's such a fun energy! I'd definitely want to come here to celebrate my birthday! Delicious and one of my favorite places to eat in the area. You HAVE TO try the Molcajete. It's delicious, boiling hot (I love when food is hot in temperature), and HUGE. You can probably share this plate among 2-3 people. I also ordered the fajitas which was delicious. I'm looking forward to trying the birria taco place. The ambiance - wow! So much artwork and design in this space. Everything from the walls, to the table, to the plates was carefully thought out and gorgeous. I will say that the lighting is dim (hard to see). She also made the recommendation about getting one of each with the Baja tacos (good looking out). The restaurant is so adorable! I love the lighting and design (especially the woven baskets on the wall. The bathrooms are small and not as nice as the restaurant style. Came here to celebrate a birthday and had a great time overall! The location is super convenient and the staff were very nice and accommodating. I ordered the Los Favoritos Platter, which is technically an appetizer, but I had it as my entrée and it hit the spot. Flavorful, satisfying, and a great way to sample a few things at once. The drinks were also a highlight. They were delicious and definitely crafted with some flair. The atmosphere is vibrant and very Instagrammable. It's great for those who appreciate a good aesthetic. One small downside: it can get a bit loud, especially when they bring out the sparklers and crank up the music for birthday celebrations (fun in the moment, but I do wish they'd dial it down a bit more afterward). The Camarones was a new recipe apparently. More chipotle flavored with a slight kick. From the looks the shrimp were very plump. My Torta was great. Bread was nice and butter and the carnitas were magnificent as advertised by our friendly waiter, Dustin. I also had a Horchatalada which was a sweet way to wash down this heavy food. Great experience and i cant wait to come back and try something else.

From what I could see, the restaurant looked really inviting and I appreciated that they have a dog friendly patio. I always have my pup with me and that is the main reason we chose this location. I liked the style and design of the interior of the restaurant and overall it had a very nice vibrant feel. The staff was also warm and friendly. Unfortunately, the food was a mixed bag. The Torta Gorda was the biggest disappointment. The meat was very bland and seemed barely seasoned while the bread had become soggy by the time we got it home. There just wasn't much to it. The mole also missed the mark for me. The sauce lacked the rich complex flavors I expect from a good mole and the chicken was noticeably dry. The rice, beans and esquites were ok. The nachos on the other hand were quite good. They were flavorful and satisfying and although I thought they were a little heavy-handed with the radishes, I mostly enjoyed the flavors. For for three people the bill came to around $100 after tip which felt a bit steep, especially considering the overall quality of the meal. While this visit didn't live up to my expectations, I'm willing to give Polanco Cantina another shot and probably dine in next time. I have a much better idea now of which dishes to steer clear of and the restaurant itself seemed promising so I'm hoping the experience is improved when the food is enjoyed fresh from the kitchen.

Or drop in for taco Tuesday when their street tacos are a little over $2 each. I usually order the carnitas (drooling, has the right amount of soft and crispy bites), carne asada, shrimp and fish tacos! I have also tried the quesadilla which is packed with meat so there's bang for my buck. They put a good amount of meat on the tacos and toppings as well, so I get full pretty fast because of all the protein. Can't forget to mention the complimentary, fresh salsa bar with the grilled onions and jalapeños! The chips are mostly fresh, I have gone on some days where it appears and tastes like the chips were double fried and stale. But overall, on most days, the chips are warm and fresh. The staff are friendly, hard-working and they keep the place spotless and clean! It's a taqueria I have gone to several times in the past and will keep going back to for the refreshing margaritas, yummy tacos and excellent customer service. FYI- I believe they offer slightly lower prices if you pay with cash versus paying with card so it might be a helpful thing to know for people who carry cash.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rosa Madera, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The place was super clean and very welcoming. The location gave me authentic Mexican vibes from the decor to the handmade tortillas. The food was amazing, and the cocktails were uniquely handcrafted. What made this happy hour event turn into a full out incredible experience was the service. The entire staff from the hostess to the leadership. A1 service. Our server, Angel, went above and beyond to ensure that every detail of our meal was perfect. His attentiveness, warm demeanor, and deep knowledge of the menu made our evening truly memorable. He was also the bartender! Angel was the multitasker supreme! Great personality and truly authentic. The ambiance of Rosa Madera is inviting and sophisticated, making it an ideal spot for a special night out, celebrate a birthday event, the daily deals and their awesome happy hour deals. I highly recommend Taco Tuesdays there! But what truly sets this restaurant apart is the leadership of their manager, Miguel. It's rare to find a manager who is not only highly competent but also deeply committed to making every guest feel welcome. Miguel's people skills are second to none, and his leadership is clearly reflected in the high level of service provided by the entire team. We recently dined at Casa Madera and had a delightful experience with the food. We ordered the molcajete, and it was absolutely delicious with a fantastic flavor. The salsa was spicy enough and sooo good. The molcajete came with chicken, asada, shrimp, nopal, chorizo, and cheese, accompanied by a jalapeño and some cebollitas. The chicken was tender and juicy, the steak was grilled perfectly, the shrimp were nicely grilled, and the chorizo added a bold flavor twist. We also tried the Bistec Ranchero, which was a good cut of meat, very tender and perfectly cooked. Although it lacked a bit of flavor compared to the salsa in the molcajete, we ended up using the same salsa for this dish as well. A small note: we had to ask for tortillas, so they don't seem to come with the meal. Be sure to order both flour and corn tortillas. The wait was quite long. We arrived, signed in, and were told it would be a one-hour wait. After shopping and returning, we still had to wait another two hours for our table. This was on a Friday, so keep that in mind. The atmosphere was lively with loud music, frequent birthday celebrations with sparklers and strobe lights, and a mariachi band playing a few songs. It's a great spot for celebrating birthdays! The service was okay, though it was evident they were short-staffed. Our waitress did her best to accommodate us. I would return but not on a Friday and wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes for a table. Hopefully, they will take reservations soon. read more

Luckily, we decided to sit at the bar, and that was hands down the best decision of the night! Our bartender, Kino, was absolutely amazing. His customer service was top-tier, and his passion for his craft was undeniable. From mocktails to shooters, every drink was crafted with precision and flair. It was like getting a dinner and a show, he truly embraces the art of mixology and makes sure every guest feels welcomed and entertained. Now, let's talk food--incredible! The flavors, seasoning, and authentic Mexican taste were on point. Everything we ordered was delicious, making the experience even better. While the energy and vibe of Rosa Madera are unmatched, I will say this: if you're looking for a casual night out with the kids, the evening crowd might not be ideal. But for a night out with friends? Absolutely perfect! Overall, I'd definitely return, but after experiencing Kino's hospitality and skill at the bar, I'm not sure I'd ever opt for a regular table. I had been eagerly anticipating my visit to Rosa Madera, and it did not disappoint. We arrived at 3 pm, as Google indicated that was their opening time, but it turned out they had actually opened at 11 am that day. Fortunately, it was a Tuesday, so the restaurant wasn't packed at all. The interior decor is beautiful, and we were immediately seated where we wanted to be. To start, we ordered two drinks, which were delicious. We opted for the sample plate, which came with a variety of items. Everything on the plate was delicious, with the meat being especially tender and flavorful. The sample plate was huge, more than enough to feed my friend and me, but we decided to share fajitas as well. The fajitas included steak, shrimp, and chicken, all of which were incredibly flavorful. Although Rosa Madera is on the pricier side, the portions are large and satisfying. However, I do have two complaints. First, I think they need to improve their free appetizer. They currently offer pinwheels, but considering the high-end vibe, why not provide good tortilla chips with salsa, bean dip, or queso? Second, the music did not match the ambiance. They were playing pop music, but I believe they should play Spanish music, such as Norteñas, mariachi, or even reggaeton, to enhance the atmosphere. Despite these minor issues, I will definitely be going back to Rosa Madera. read more

I recently dined at this new restaurant in Sacramento near Elk Grove and had a mixed experience. On a Monday evening, the wait for a table was manageable, but I can only imagine how hectic it might be on a weekend. During the wait, I unfortunately witnessed a distressing situation involving a man and a woman beside my car getting physical with each other. Once seated, the service was quick but could use some improvement to match the environment/ambience. The environment, however, was vibrant and the decor was beautiful, which definitely made up for some of the other shortcomings. The drinks were exceptional; I highly recommend the pink rose tequila crème drink, which was my favorite. The food, unfortunately, didn't live up to the hype. The portions were generous, but the rice and tacos lacked flavor. I couldn't even eat the beans there because it is made with lard (pork), and most Mexican places now abstain from cooking with lard to cater to vegan/vegetarian preferences. Our bill was over $200 just for myself and a friend, and while the dining experience was disappointing in terms of food, I'd consider returning for the drinks and perhaps check out their happy hour to see if it offers a better experience. read more

My family and I confidently strode into the new restaurant, eager to experience the much-talked-about hype. Despite being informed of a two-hour wait, we were promptly seated. It left us questioning the validity of the initial wait time, almost as if they were trying to deter us as the lobby seemed empty. I did mention that to the host and she said it was due to a wait list on yelp, however I could not find such wait list. The strange encounter left us feeling off from the start. We started with the appetizer, queso con rajas, which was decent, but our enjoyment was marred by the discovery of a piece of fried plastic in our chips. The thought of plastic in our food was disconcerting. I opted for the carnitas asada, only to find it disappointingly lackluster, and they even forgot my nopal. The absence of the item went unnoticed by the staff, and it wasn't until later that I realized it was missing. The prices seemed exorbitant for the quality of the dishes served. We had to flag someone down to bring us plates for the appetizers. One friend's food arrived cold, which was disappointing. The two-hour wait times are tough, especially with limited bar seating, so you can't hang out at the bar while waiting. Plus, the online waitlist feature gets shut down when it's too busy, which meant we couldn't check in online during our visit. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing--everything we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. You can tell they really take pride in what they serve. Let's just say the girls put a lot of effort into their photos, and hey--happy wife, happy life, right? The vibe of the place was perfect for a night out--modern, festive, and just the right energy for a birthday celebration. The service needs significant improvement. Last week, I was placed on the waiting list and ended up waiting for over two hours. Unfortunately, another group was called before us. When I inquired about the waiting list and why that group was prioritized, the staff member made excuses and was not truthful with me. We had arrived before that group, which had only waited for 40 minutes. I felt embarrassed, especially since I had brought a friend to celebrate his new job.
