Since I first darkened their door years ago at their Lincoln Center location, I have to admit that I've always had a soft spot for micro-chain Rosa Mexicano. Admittedly, the food here can be hit or miss (mostly hit) and the bill can sometimes seem outlandish but everyone seems to forget that Rosa is the consummate review proof, bar-first restaurant. The menu here is a necessary prop and entirely besides the point as anything tastes great after a few of their world-class margaritas. Rosa Mexicano is just fun or as Robert Plant so poignantly pointed out, "Does anyone remember laughter?" So, unstarch your collar and go play food critic elsewhere as Rosa Mexicano is just a good time. Five easy stars. read more

We got the Baja tacos - 8/10 and the shrimp tacos 7/10. They definitely had seen too much of the heat lamps in the back. Bartenders were super friendly and the frozen Pom marg was next level. The consistency and alcohol content of a frozen drink was one of the best I've had recently. If you like heat on your food ask for the hot sauce/paste - whatever it was it was delicious and burnt in the best way possible. If you sit at the bar, don't sit left of the margarita machine and if you do bring ear plugs. Ticket time was a little long but the bartender made it right. First time trying this place since the previous Mexican spot closed down. Super impressed by the decor and how much they turned this place around aesthetically. The star rating goes solely to our server Bintou. She was relatable, read her audience well, made active suggestions and gave her honest opinion on the dishes which was appreciated. She was prompt, and checked on us multiple times. Job well done on her end!! The food however was not my favorite to be honest... just very bland and lacking in flavor. The best thing I ordered was the crab guacamole which I would definitely come back for but that's about it. Full disclosure - I came here for dinner with a friend as I had come here earlier in the year for a Yelp event. We needed to eat in the area so I recommended here, due to the great event. I want to give this experience a 3.5 stars but darn this full star system! First the margaritas. I ordered the jalapeno cucumber margarita as they are my favorites and this one was fine. It wasn't the worst but it wasn't the most memorable. There wasn't that hit of spice that I like but it was still tasty. My friend ordered the mango chili and she also said that her drink wasn't giving all that she wanted it to give. My friend and I wanted to split the black bean and cheese empanadas but as soon as we ordered them, our server came back to tell us that they were unavailable. We went with the queso as our backup, and while the queso was tasty, it came out lukewarm. I wish it was just a little bit hotter, temp wise. I got the roasted chicken suizas with the tomatillo salsa verde. They were ok. Again, it was good but I just felt like it wasn't 100% want I would want to order it again. Our server was very attentive, almost to the point of being too attentive. He came by more than the normal server to check in. He then brought over a trainee and they stopped by a few times. Not that its a bad thing, but we would be in the middle of a conversation and there would be another check in. When it came time to pay our bill, our server and the trainee took our cards and then were gone for a substantial amount of time. We had a class to get to so maybe it just made the wait feel even longer because we needed to leave. When we got our bill to sign, they had charged our cards against the wrong table's bill. I couldn't find our server or the trainee anywhere. A man who worked there wearing a suit, so maybe management? named Thomas (I think!) saw us looking bewildered and stopped to ask if we needed assistance. We explained the situation and he then went back to refund the wrong charge and then charge us correctly and then told us to call back the next day if the refund did not go through on our credit cards. Mainly because I don't live in the Ardmore area, I do not see myself coming back. I love Mexican food and I have had better in my local area, so this would not be a destination meal for me. I wanted to give 3 stars really, but couldn't. In reality this rating is more like 2.5 stars. The service here was just so poor that I don't think I can really recommend this place just yet. It's unfortunate, because I attended a Yelp event here that was fantastic, but that seems like a one-off experience. To start, we sat in the bar area, which though not in the main dining area, still had 2 high top tables with "regular" seating. It was us and another table. Hardly anyone paid us any mind upon the arrival of our full group, and it was irksome considering my one friend had already been served a drink. I believe the bartender was serving our table and tending to the bar simultaneously, and with the bustle of a Friday night unfolding there, we were woefully neglected all night long. Even flagging down another waiter and asking for water yielded us nothing. By the way, why were the water glasses so absurdly small? Anyway, in terms of the food - the queso dip with chips and the tempura shrimp tacos were good. The dip struck me as a high price to pay for chips and dip, but I thought the tacos were worth it. The cheese in the dip had a certain smokiness to it, and the tempura shrimp had a nice crunch. The cosmo margarita was actually quite delicious, and probably the highlight of the night. The refried beans were totally bland, and I don't know if I selected the right beans another reviewer raved about. They were nothing to write home about, least of all Yelp about. I also sampled my sister's fried rice, and it had a marked saltiness to it that, coupled with the heat, made it inedible. I know this restaurant hasn't been here long, but they could do a lot better, and should maybe have a manager floating around to ask about the dining experience. I really would have liked to give feedback that an overworked bartender should not also be manning bar area tables. He was nice enough, but seemed to be focused on his bartending duties instead of waiting tables. Others that assisted us in his place were OK - but they seemed unengaged since they weren't our servers. The one waiter didn't even look at me as he spoke to me (very odd). Our waitress politely took our order and than left... for a really long time. Someone else brought us food but it was the wrong order and without silverware. When the waitress did come back, she nicely fixed our order but then left again, for a longer time. This time we seriously considered leaving, all the other tables around us emptied while we were waiting in the dark. We had a good meal at Rose Americano. We have been to other branches that were much better. The star of the meal was the guacamole made at the side of the table. This was terrific. The empanadas with mushrooms and beans were really good. The cheese enchiladas with Guajillo sauce were mixed: The cheese filling was blend, but the red chili sauce was outstanding! The Chile Riano's were unusual, with a nice spicy red sauce, but the chilies were roasted instead of battered and fried, and the filling was interesting but not special. The ambiance alone at this place deserves some stars. Beautiful design indoor and outdoor. It's situated in an Ardmore shopping area so there are other things to do and shop for before and after your meal. Unfortunately, on the night I went, that's about where the pros stopped. The food was decent, but the place seemed so beautiful that I was expecting more. This was a meal I could have had at Chilis. The drinks I will say are ambitious and not bad. Alcohol was limited, but I would say they are worth another try du to their creative choices. The service was friendly and capable when it arrived, but we definitely sat for a while before anyone came. And the floor was dirty with wctual trash for about 10 minutes before the hostess actually came and swept herself. I will definitely try this place again solely on the decor and vibe, but I felt a little disappointed at the rest. This was a late night visit so maybe I will try the day. read more

We had a pretty good experience at Rosa Mexicano. I started with a classic margarita, which was very tasty, and we got the table side guacamole. It was definitely fun to watch them prepare it in front of you and it went great with the fresh chips and salsa they bring to your table. We had the empanadas as another appetizer and they were fine. For our mains, I got the birria tacos and my wife had some enchiladas. Both dishes were very good, but not huge portions (although I liked mine more than she liked hers). Overall, the food was pretty good, but it ended up being pricier than I expected. The service was just ok. You pay using one of those handheld devices, and the waiter just never came back to our table to collect it afterwards, which I thought was odd... Most delicious carnitas tacos I've had in a while. Generous serving of tortilla chips (for two people), with an interesting salsa on the side. The tacos were a delightful melody of flavors (especially with the fresh lime). The carnitas were crisp and smokey, and the juice would drip with every bite. I would dip the taco in the juice just to soak up all the flavor. It was messy, but most definitely worth it. The rice and beans were filling as well. I haven't been to Rosa Mexicano in about a year but when friends wanted to go for Mexican food for dinner, I suggested Rosa Mexicano. When I dined here about a year ago, the drinks, food and service were all great. Well, times do unfortunately change. The service wasn't good. Is everyone mad about working here? Nobody was friendly. They were out of ingredients to make a Paloma. Our waitress just said, they don't have the ingredients. My friend asked for another type of margarita. The waitress said they didn't have the ingredients for that either. Then just stared at my friend. Friend had to ask for a menu to look at the other choices for drinks again. The food was mediocre. There was a foul sewage smell coming from the bar area and the bathroom. My friends ordered coffee for after dinner. It came without saucers, cream or sugars. For $6.00 each. Pathetic! We also weren't offered dessert. A positive point was that the guacamole was delicious. read more

Margs we're very very good which is why I am going 4. Service was pretty horrible - it was somewhat busy but not packed. Order for my husband and brother was mixed up- they were unsure which was which temperature and forgot the fixings on the one who wanted the jalapeños and who didn't. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon so there were plenty of people eating outdoors. Though it was a 30 minute wait to sit outside, the inside is huge so I would say reservations are not needed. I love the indoor decor. The whole aesthetic is tropical, vibrant and fun. You feel like you're on vacation. I love that. This place is perfect for friends, family, a date night. All of it. I ordered takeout from doordash. I ordered black beans, chips and salsa and shrimp tempura tacos. The tacos were putrid. Dry cabbage flavorless hard over cooked shrimp and the bottom of the taco had some weird Mayo and green sauce. It was absolutely disgusting. Had no flavor and weird texture. Gross! The beans were good texture but NO flavor. I'm so confused how u mess up beans. The salsa was watery and no flavor. The recurring theme is NO flavor. It's so gross. When you enter the restaurant is beautifully decorated and the hosts are welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious and we were pleasantly surprised to find it was taco Tuesday and tacos were half priced! The drinks were delicious but we had a couple of tries getting them right. I really did love this place! Daniel our server was top notch so that could've been the difference. We were celebrating a birthday and got delicious table side guac (double order), shrimp tacos (ah mazing), steak nachos (individually topped so no crazy pile of toppings), duck tacos (good and tasty), Birria tacos (one person felt dry, even with consume... yet other felt delicious) so with the disappointed Birria taco, she replaced with a burger (waffle fries!) and it was delicious. Thennnn churros for dessert and YAAAASSSSS. I would return, the Mezcalrita actually had both mezcal and tequila with triple sec and it was served over an actively smoking glass. I had two. The others got frozen margaritas mango and guava and they were good too. They have a huge list of mezcals and tequilas to try and a huge space with indoor, outdoor seating that is bright airy and open. I absolutely am returning and will try more tequilas and mezcals. Definitely would not recommend or go back to this place. The staff was pretty rude and for some reason they thought it was a great idea to pile 3 large parties right next to our table (which had our two screaming toddlers). At least 10 open tables nearby but we were stuck, with b$itching patrons near us, as well as right next to the bathroom. The biggest issue with this place are the prices: if you see my picture, they give you a "baby" size margarita, filled with ice for $15. Additionally, it took 30 mins to get the drink and the food was out before I received the first one. Seeing how small it was, I had to immediately order a second. I asked if there were "ANY" bigger margaritas on the rocks and the answer was no. Only frozen margs come in the large glasses advertised in the menu. So $30 for about 6 sips of margarita, that tastes no better than one from a chain Mexican place. Food, again, way overpriced. Fish tacos were awful and slimy. The carnitas tacos were better but there were many huge chunks or pork that was inedible without cutting parts off of it. The best food item was actually the quesadilla for the kids. When we left, my husband came back in to grab an item we left and they were complaining about the mess. Overall - awful experience and waste of money. Ok, so this place just opened here in Ardmore. We had a chance to go last night. My wife and I snuck out for a quick date night. The good, 1- The food is very good. We had the ceviche sampler. Try that! The rest was on the higher end of what we can find around the main line. 2-design and decor is really cool in there. The place just looks nice, eclectic and fun. 3- the crowd was pretty good for a new place like this. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. 4- the bar is also good. They do a nice set of drinks for a Mexican restaurant. The not so good, 1- supply chain.. they are still in setup mode. They did not have coffee or coffee cups. This is not a huge deal, but speaks to the start up mode. 2- the service was ok, but they are definitely not working with a full or experienced staff. We were there on a Saturday night and the hostess and servers were just not a team yet. The servers did not know the right things to say to address supply chain issues. They kind of forgot about us outside for a bit. Service outside and seating still seem to be a bit of a mystery to the wait staff. I am probably giving the crew an extra star of credit as the place is so new. It has promise, but still needs to come together a bit on the service side. Horrible experience! Came in a little early and our table was not ready, so we sat at the bar. Reminded hostess 20 min in and she said they were just bussing our table... as we watched couple after couple sit. Spoke to manger and he said he will come get us from the bar.. and 20 min and still nothing. 40 min after our reservation, 50 min after walking into the restaurant we walked out. Sad experience. horrible experience. it took them 5 minutes to even notice us at the door. they brought us chips and guac which was good and we placed our order. it took at least 35-45 minutes for our food to come out. on top of that they only brought out 1 of our meals. they came back 5 minutes later and said they didn't have any more of what I asked for. I said it's fine take it off the bill. he insisted I get something else and he'll make sure it will be fast. after about another 20 minutes, nothing and then he said "they didnt come out yet" I said no just take it off the bill. so basically we got 1 meal (20$) and I didn't get anything for an hour and a half. it set me off when he said it will be quick n then cost me another 20 minutes of my friday night after already taking an hour up. don't recommend. read more

After not being able to get a table on an early Monday evening around the corner at Dan Dan, for some unknown reason.... the place was empty & had plenty of reservation openings. We decided to have dinner here. I'm very happy we did. This restaurant is a jewel in Ardmore's Suburban Square. Vibrant atmosphere, great decor, friendly people, excellent service, and exceptionally good food. Great margaritas, with alcohol and also their mocktail version. Shrimp Quesadillas, perfect. Guacamole with Grilled Pineapple Pico de Gallo, excellent. Crispy Shrimp Tempura & Pork Carnitas Tacos were the best tacos I've had in a long time. I can't refuse churros when I'm at a Mexican restaurant. Their churros with dark chocolate and raspberry-guajillo dipping sauces were the perfect ending to a great dinner & way above average dining experience. I should mention to the person who posted a photo of a half drank margarita claiming that's how she received it. The next time you try to convince people the glass was only half full, wipe the lip marks off of the rim of the glass before you post your photo. Or better yet, don't lie about it and post fake pictures. I'll definitely go back when I'm back in this area.. read more
