Ate here for the first time tonight and it was so awesome food wise! There's a small little indoor seating area and an outdoor patio. There were only a few people dining inside and we seated ourselves outdoors. We scarfed down the chips and salsa before our food made it out lol. Their chimichangas are delicious, not over fried like most are, beans & rice were flavorful. I also decided to try their lemonade and I was surprised to find it was frozen lemonade that was actually REAL lemonade not fake flavored. Yum! My daughter ate her bean and cheese burrito which is amazing considering how picky toddlers are. We definitely plan on eating there again! Side note: If you're sensitive to smells you might want to avoid eating out on the patio after a hot day or you'll catch food whiffs of the trash can. We were in town and wanted Mexican food. There are lots of options, but we wanted a place that was air conditioned with inside seating. We actually went to another place first but it was hot inside and no air condition. This place is located in a strip mall. It's on the corner and has a sizable patio area. We sat inside with a nice cool air condition table. My hubby had the chicken burrito, my son had the fish taco and i ordered rice. My hubby and son raved about their food. The beans were good, rice was good, overall flavors were there. The green salsa is amazing! The red sauce is mild and more like a Pico de Gallo sauce. It was good but not as good as the green one. If you're looking to get out of the heat or sit outside on the patio this little jewel has it all. They serve cocktails like beer and coladas. The food is decent there, but every time I go there, the prices are up and the portions are down. Somehow spent over $31 on something that cost $8.95 and something else that was $10.95. I guess it was the ice tea and the chips/salsa that tipped the scale for the remaining $11 (taxes too, of course) I did leave an 18% tip for a total of $36, but it seemed like a lot for just two dishes. Won't be going back there... Also, their shrimp cocktail takeaway portions are half what they use to be and more expensive. I understand that operating costs go up, but this just seems like they're taking advantage of people. read more

Best Mexican in Fallbrook. The Green Sauce is the reason to keep coming back. Love the rolled tacos, beef is moist and tasty. Shrimp tostada is lovely only missing sour cream. The smell of shrimp fajitas being delivered is enought to make you hungry even if you have finished eating. read more

Good service. Decent Mexican beer selection would be better with Dos Equis. Bland salsa - both colors Beef taco is dry and hard to chew. The meat is not flavored that I could tell. The shell was super thick. Only dry lettuce and cheese on taco. No tomatoes. Really? The chile relleno was not crispy. The batter was super thick (maybe was fried earlier and just heated up?). The chile was fresh and hot. The cheese was nicely melted. It was covered in some red sauce. I think it was enchilada sauce out of a can. Rice was dry and stale. Beans were fine. The most edible part of the meal. The garnish was more dried lettuce and a fancy orange slice. No lime? Tomatoes? The thing that kills me, I don't think there was any onions or peppers used in the whole meal (except the relleno, of course). This is great place if you can't handle spicy foods. It's sad that a few people in town recommended this place. We are so close to Mexico that there is no excuse for what they served me. read more

My favorite Mexican food place, arguably the best in San Diego County. They never mess up an order, and everything is prepared extremely well and quickly. They have the BEST green salsa by far, it's so good that my wife actually ordered a whole cup full to go once. My favorite menu item is there California Burritos, they're perfect. Rosa's is unlike any other Mexican restaurant i've been to. Mexican restaurants fall into a few categories, hole in the wall, upscale chain, fast food chain, and family style authentic. Rosa's is none of these though closest to family style authentic. However, what sets it apart is the quality of the food and ingredients and the presentation. The shrimp tostada is fantastic. A mound of shrimp with another mound of avocado chunks and salsa served on a crispy corn tortilla. Yum! I also like their super tostada and the garlic prawns. Some of the things are fairly ordinary: the burrito is not bad, not great. I also think that different people cook on different days and my favorite day to go is Thursday. Good atmosphere too. A small place with a very nice outdoor patio with umbrellas where I like to sit. All the servers are friendly. I live in Oceanside and make lunch or dinner at Rosa's a fun time out. read more

Based on other reviews, I promise to try this place again however, my experience at Rosa's was horrible. From the service to the food to the atmosphere, it felt like we were eating in a converted broken down store front, trying to be a restaurant. The icing was the skateboarders in the alley and the "go around the back" (not clean) bathrooms, also in the alley. The food ... typical Mexican cuisine .. nothing special. Portions and taste were so so. We waited a long time before our order was taken. Once we received our food we instantly became invisible and had to go inside to get, water ... straws and the bill. The crunchy tacks here are bomb and their green sauce is the best in town. We buy it by the big cup full and make chile verse at home. To die for. Breakfast burritos are ok, but the bacon could be bigger crispier pieces. But that's just my personal preference. They also have little to go packets of tapatio which makes my son really happy. Wasn't very good at all. I eat Mexican food all over San Diego at least once a week and this place is one of the last on my list to ever go back to. I called ahead and ordered: one bean and cheese burrito and one carne asada taco. The lady on the phone told me 20 minutes. We get there to pick it up and they say they're working on it. It took them another 20 minutes to get it all out to us. Our food was done 45 minutes after calling in, ridiculous. Also, the carne asada had no flavor and was very dry. I only had their red salsa but it was really bad. The bean and cheese burrito was good, I gave two stars because they have good tortillas. Went in for lunch Friday, we were basically asked to leave. Walked to the outside area to sit down and we were told no, no seating outside. So we thought we would try to sit inside.. waited a few minutes and no one said anything to us. I've eaten at Rosa's several times due to its convenient location and found the food to be passable. Tonight however, will certainly be my last time. My order was for carry out nachos, I also asked for a side of chips and salsa. Just the chips and salsa, which are free for those dining in, came to a whopping $6.25! The biggest disappointment was yet to come though. When I got home my nachos were covered in the sour cream I had expressly requested not be included. I was already home though, so I got most of it off and went about eating my dinner. Mid way through my subpar nachos (mostly stale chips piled atop one another sans a hint of cheese or beans) I suddenly had that sickening realization that I was chewing on a long piece of hair. Sure enough a 8" strand of black hair was stuck between my teeth. I'm a military man, so you can bet there's no way that was my hair. There are better places for Mexican in this town. read more

Let's see, our day began at 11 with breakfast, followed by a LONG 2 hour drive to Fallbrook, followed by viewing 2 apartment communities, then at 3:00, deciding on what to eat. I packed my lunch but my husband & son needed to find somewhere to eat...it would either be pizza or mexican. We saw "Killer Pizza from Mars" and "Rosa's Mexican Food" (Domino's Pizza wasn't even an option for us). Well, after looking at the price of the pizzas, we decided to go for a burrito. We went in, was greeted by a kind waitress, and sat down. My husband ordered the carne asada burrito and I chose a quesadilla for my son. The food came out quick...the burrito was pretty big, and the quesadilla was also pretty big. The taste...eeh...not so good. My husband kept saying that the burrito needed some rice. It was just a lot of meat. The meat itself was ok too. The quesadilla was made with white cheese (Probably mozz). It didn't come with anything...no salsa, no sour cream, not even a cilantro leaf. I got my son to take a few bites of it, but he wasn't into it so I tried it. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. I ended up eating most of the quesadilla (but only because I didn't want to waste food/money and was able to dip it in some green sauce they brought out with the chips). By the end, we were full and the bill was under $10. so yes, we were full and we didn't really lose much in the meal so there's not much to complain. I guess we got what we paid for. At 3:00, we were hungry, but we still had taste buds to cater to, and we failed them. At our next hungry hour, we'll still have the same taste buds that will be royally disappointed if we return. To be fair, a little before we left, another couple came in and ordered a combo plate. My husband said that dish looked better. Maybe it was. I will never know. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service. I ordered take out just to have to warm my food twice when I got home. I asked for the owner to call me and never received a call. This was a place we would eat at least once a week. After this incident that will no longer continue. And who wants to drive back into town once you've gotten home and settled. read more

My husband ordered us takeout from here today. He was charged $11 for chilaquiles that when he got home realized there was no chicken or egg on it. Just sauce over chips, for $11??! He called to tell them about it and was told that if he wants to bring it back they'll put an egg on it. Terrible. Apparently customer service was bad during ordering too. Rosa's is my go-to when I'm craving a California burrito or a torta! Their carne asada is sooooo good! Seriously the BEST Cali burrito I've EVER had! This place is probably my all time favorite for mexican food in San Diego County. I used to live nearby and i'd eat here at least once a week. Interestingly enough, it's almost as hard to find this on yelp as it is in real life. I searched yelp for "rosa" near Fallbrook, CA, and it kept taking me to the cantina in temecula. Weird. The food is amazing here. Rosa's is very authentic, so if you're a taco bell-type mexican food person you're probably not going to like it. I don't really know much about the menu because i get the same thing every time -- Carnitas plate grilled extra crispy. Really, REALLY good. Prices are very reasonable, too. The service is painfully slow. Every time we're there people get up and leave before food arrives. The food is not bad just really average, it's a Roberto's that brings chips to your table. I can't take them serious if they don't even offer even canned mole. The green salsa is really yummy. The location is good, people know the place but they need to hire more waitresses/help.
