I have tried Rosa's a couple of times over the last year. I have found that out of all the options in Florence, this is my least favorite Mexican place. The food is surprisingly bland. The salsa was bland. I added salt and that did not help. I ordered nachos with ground beef and the meat had some flavor, but the retried beans had no flavor. My dad ordered the burrito grande. It was huge and looked delicious, but he didn't like it. The flan was delicious. The food wasn't the worst ever, but there are better options in town. read more

We are on vacation from Arizona and wanted some good, authentic Mexican food. We found Rosa's after searching thru Yelp and decided to give it a try. The food was amazing especially the homemade guacamole and salsa. The staff which consists of the husband and his wife (cook) were downright wonderful and very hospitable. Rosa's was neither good nor terrible, but I think other reviewers were a little off base in giving it 4-5 stars. I don't know why other reviewers are touting it's authenticity as it seemed to be pretty typical non-authentic mexican food serving up huge plates of meat, beans and rice. I would much rather eat at a taco cart than here. Excellent. Freshly made corn tortillas, are you kidding me?! The chicken mole could have come to an upscale Mexican place in NYC or San Francisco (or Mexico City for that matter). Definitely seems like a locals place, with lots of polaroids on the walls, and lots of locals eating there. So, it's not exactly the most attractive setting I've eaten in, but the food trumps everything else (including the small, hard to see/read sign outside). So, keep your eyes open or you can drive right by it; but this place is worth finding. read more

Worst service ever. We went there after reading reviews and decided to give it a try. There was one other table of people when we arrived. The server could hardly be bothered with us. Water was never refilled or were we asked how things were. The food was very bland (although the salsa was tasty) we had the fish taco and fajita salad. Both were very mediocre. From a warm welcome to a delightful meal, great food all around. Homemade salsa and chips, cold beer in a pilsner glass, great friendly service. We will be back for sure. The heat of the food is geared to a more gringo population, and elderly population as well, but a little hot sauce got it to our preference. Would rather add heat than trying to get rid of it! I had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and my husband had chicken tamale and the carne asada with rice and beans. My husbands meal came with flour tortillas, and with different kind of bell peppers. I didn't really like the rice and beans but the enchiladas were really good. The chicken was very moist and flavorful. My husband liked everything about his meal. My favorite thing about Rosa's is they provide toothpicks at your table and give you an Andes mint with your bill. I don't know any other restaurant that provides you with toothpicks at your table. That's pretty cool. Our waiter was ok, he always refilled my husbands soda but not always refilling my water. Which I kept putting on the side of the table so that he would notice. No such luck. Rosa's was recommended by the hotel we are staying at. We went looking for some authentic flavours and dishes. The server was attentive and helpful, however she had limited knowledge of the menu as she was in her first week of working there. We started with chips and homemade salsa, both were good. We had margaritas, they were tasty but they could have been mistaken for virgin margaritas. Mains were a quesadilla, and a fajita burrito, served with rice and beans. We had dinner at Rosa's. Very cute place inside with full bar. Our waitress was fantastic! The margaritas are not pre-mixed but made with fresh ingredients and were great. I am a local and have eaten here several times. Even recommended this restaurant to friends and family as the best Mexican restaurant on the central Oregon coast. But not anymore! Today my wife and I brought a friend for lunch and we were all seriously disappointed. The service was bad and the food was merely mediocre at best. The once amazing fresh salsa was now a watery mess clearly from a bottle. The tortillas that came with my fajitas were dry and brittle. My wife is a vegetarian and two of the menu items that she was interested in were unavailable (who runs out of potatoes at noon?). All three of us found the food boring, uninspired and lacking flavor. We were stunned at the sudden poor quality of the food and service, especially compared to the amazing experiences we have had with this place in the past. We will not be coming back... it was that disappointing. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants that while not as good as Rosa's once was, now do a better job than Rosa's now does. read more

Firat time here my husband and I stopped on our way through Florence. Great choice! I had a taco and enchilada combo. It was excellent! The enchilada red sauce was very flavorful! My husband and I have been obsessed with Rosas for the last two years. When we started going there, we promised ourselves that we would try everything on the menu and we have done a good job so far. Basically you can't go wrong with anything you order...its all delicious. We have traveled to the area of Mexico that Rosa is from and I can say seriously that her food is very authentic and the Pozole is as good as any we had in our favorite small town in Mex. I was passing through town and stayed the night in Florence. I saw all the Yelp reviews, and with my constant Mexican food craving, I thought this would be perfect. Well, first of all, I was not treated as great as the others.... Now, I am a lady that smiles a lot and has a positive disposition....so, for this guy to act like he was doing me a favor by seating me, brought me my food, and never ever asked if I wanted another margarita (which I seriously did, but he only showed up at the end, when he brought me my total as if he was done with me?!!)....OH...and the food....definitely not as good as I have had, by any means. I think we have been to every Mexican food restaurant in Florence. This one had great reviews and was also voted highly in a 2018 restaurant award. I didnt like it at all with the exception of the salsa which was great! I was trying to find a traditional shrimp dish and the server, who was great and efficient recommended Garlic shrimp. It was tasteless. The burrito my friend ordered was small and didn't fill him up. I also ordered a blended marg that felt like it came from a slushy machine. Coming from California, I have found most of the Mexican food in Oregon sub-par at best but such is not the case for Rosa;s. Best mexican food in Oregon. Reminds me of the food I grew up eating. Portions are good sized and food is always very fresh and served piping hot. Their Tres Amigos platter is my favorite but honestly I enjoy all their dishes. Dinner menu is available for lunch if you request it and has many more dishes. Service is awesome. I routinely drive 200 miles round trip just to eat here. read more

I am staying in Florence for a week and decided to try Rosa's Mexican Restaurant. I ordered the "Macho Burrito" with was supposed to contain chicken, pork, beef, pico de gallo, rice, and beans. It was 90% rice and beans and 10% meat and pico. It was a tasteless waste of $12. I ate a little bit of it and then paid and left most of it on the plate. I go to mexico and the southwest every year and have excellent Mexican food, this does not measure up at all. It's quite possible that they have altered recipes to accommodate local taste but irregardless, it's not good. The waitress was like "is there anything I can do to make it better?" I'm not usually a huge fan of Mexican, unless I have a craving for it, and that craving came today. While driving through whatever small town that happened to be, Yelp led me to Rosa's. The sign just looks like your cliche Mexican sign and the outside is nothing gorgeous; both are misleading. The inside is larger than it looks and it's nicely decorated and very clean. After being seated they bring out the usual chips and salsa, but this salsa is AMAZING. Literally the best salsa I've ever had. I asked for more to go with my meal because I liked it so much. I ordered Mexican-style chicken enchiladas, served with a green sauce and sour cream (I asked for the avocados to be left off), and it came with rice and refried beans. The enchilada was delicious, especially with the sour cream and salsa. The rice and beans were ok too, and I don't normally even like beans. When looking at the dessert menu, keep in mind that only certain desserts are available on any given day. I went with the Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake. It was DELICIOUS. Think of it kind of like a Mexican version of tiramisu. Of all the food I had there, I ate every bite. I went to Rosa's for the first time this weekend and it was delicious. I wish I would have found this place sooner. The chili relleno and enchilada were both great and the beans and rice were tasty. Everything was fresh. They don't add a lot of spice to the food but just ask for jalapenos or or spicier salsa if you prefer spicy. Friendly service. This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten in. The food is traditional, but incredibly well prepared. They have Mole', Menudo, and even Birria!! Everything we tasted there was phenomenal. Prices are about $10 a plate, with reasonably large portions. It appears to be owned and run by "Rosa". All in all, a 'first pick' for Mexican food!!! read more
