The fries were crisp, had the right amount of salt and were priced right for the amount you received in an order. The canned soda was approximately cold and the had a good variety of Pepsi products in both single cans as well as 2 liters. The pizza was cooked through without being burned. It was not overly greasy or oily and the vegetables were fresh. It was busy for a Friday but the staff were polite, the restaurant was clean, the food was done on time, and it tasted great. Continued expansion may be inevitable, so I figured I'd give their food a try see where it stacks up against other chain pizza stores. For Pi Day (March 14th) they had a special of a 6" mini pizza for free with the purchase of a 20oz soda. I got extra cheese and linguisa (a type of sausage) on the pizza. I also ordered six garlic not-knots for an appetizer. The garlic not-knots were very good. I didn't read the item description before ordering since I assumed they were just garlicky dough, so I was pleasantly surprised that they had cheese on/in them and a little crunch from the baked cheese. The pizza was ok. The linguista didn't stand out like I hoped it would and the amount of cheese on the pizza is what I would have expected it normally have, so I don't know if they added extra or not. That said, I'd rather have their pizza than Domino's, Pizza Hut, Toppers, or Little Caesars. Papa John's is still my preferred chain pizza store though. Two things that may hurt this Mountain Mike's chances of succeeding: price and location. Their pizzas are pretty expensive (for example, a 14" cheese pizza is $25). I definitely recommend signing up for their rewards to get discounts rather than paying full price. As for location, this particular strip mall is always packed, making parking very difficult. Being in a busy area not far from Southridge Mall is fine if you want a lot of potential customers, but that location might be a turn off once people try to visit.

They also suggested that next time we try their garlic bread, describing it as similar to Mama Mia's, with thick bread soaked in butter. They even gave us a couple of paper menus to take home. Atmosphere: There were several other people waiting for carryout orders when we arrived. They also have a dining room, although it wasn't being used while we were there. The seating is simple, with sturdy picnic table-style tables, but it looked clean and comfortable. The interior is an understated, tasteful, comfortable, semi-hippie blend of artwork and plants. Last visit, I enjoyed perfect fried eggplant, and one of the very best Margherita pizzas (here, the "Margaret") that I've ever had. Real, fresh mozzarella; real, fresh basil; and, maybe most important, actual slices of red, fresh tomatoes (not just cheating with a mere tomato sauce, as some places do). This time, I started with a real bargain of a tossed green salad. It had so many ingredients (by my rough count, around a dozen) that I couldn't even identify some. A heaping, colorful, healthful and appealing salad that puts to shame the side salads that most other restaurants merely "phone in". (The balsamic vinaigrette is strong, so I'm glad that I stuck to my rule of ordering it on the side, so that I could control the amount used.) Pizza: Pepperoni and mushroom, with FRESH mushrooms, correctly sliced (large, flat slices taken top to bottom) to maximize their flavor. A satisfyingly thin and crispy cracker crust. Nice sauce. In addition, it contained only seven penny-sized pieces of sausage and about six slices of mushroom. I have spoken with both the owner and Hannah multiple times about pizzas and salads with missing ingredients, yet nothing changes. It is extremely disappointing and frustrating to have to drive back to the restaurant to address issues that should have been caught before the food was served. The owner appears unwilling to hire an experienced manager to oversee quality control, and the result is a product that is consistently falling short of low expectations. What makes this especially sad is that the previous owner and his wife spent decades building this business by taking pride in the food they served and ensuring customers received a quality product. Unfortunately, that commitment to quality no longer seems to exist.

We had a large order, as we were feeding 16 people, and the staff member who took the order over the phone was very patient and attentive, answering any questions I had quickly and allowing several substitutions/alterations to occur. The guy who delivered it a few days later to us at work was super helpful--instead of just handing the order to us at the door and scramming, he took time to carry all of the food and drinks inside and helped us set it up around a large table. He made sure we had everything we needed before he left, and he left a warming bag with us to keep some of the smaller food in before we busted into the boxes (we returned it later, and there wasn't a certain time by when we had to get it back, which was nice). The food itself was pretty good--the pizzas were a little greasy, and the cheese bread a little overcooked, but otherwise it was excellent food. We got orders of cheese curds, garlic bread, cheese bread, pizzas, sandwiches, and a salad, and all of the food was fresh and/or hot, with nothing seeming like it had been cooked far in advance and then left under a heat lamp until the order was ran over to us. I personally ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich, and it was excellent--the chicken tenders in the sandwich were crispy and warm, the marinara sauce not too sweet, and the cheese perfectly melted.
