I took my bridesmaid dress here for a very last-minute hem job and was relieved that the owner was able to accomodate me. Turnaround time was less than a week and she only charged $20 to hem and press a two-layer, silk tricotine dress. I've paid as much at other places for the same job in less complicated fabrics. While she was pinning me I noticed that she only did the front of the skirt and I was afraid it might drape unevenly in the back. Other tailors use chalk to make sure the hemline is even all the way around. But the hem came out perfectly and I was more than satisfied. Came here to have a bridesmaid dress altered 9 years ago. Quality was excellent, and I've been going here ever since for drycleaning and alterations. The price is very fair, so if I find clothing I love but doesn't fit quite right at the store I don't mind having it altered so much. Just a couple blocks off the 101, easy parking. I usually use an alteration place in Sunnyvale that is very good but it was too far so I went to Rose cleaner's based on the reviews here. Based on Sarah's review, I took in an A-line 3/4 length dress. It had to be taken in at the sides and the length shortened to above the knee as well as brining the shoulder strap up. I asked the woman if doing the reconstruction was going to ruin the shape of the dress and was told no. I was quoted $35 and a week for the alteration. I went back and when I tried on the dress, the right side was puckered, I could see the thread on the helm and the stitching on the shoulder strap was very visible. Overall the stitching was very poor. It definitely wasn't a blind hem stitch and I could have done a better job. I told the owner and she said she would fix it. I went back the next week and the hem was much better and although she fixed the stitching on the shoulder, the clip that holds your bra strap was also sewn so no longer usable. The sides still puckered but when I keep my arms down, it wasn't noticeable. She did tell me if I wasn't satisfied she would give me my money back or redo it. I didn't go back with the dress because any further alterations was going to ruin it. I gave this place a 3 star because I think she is capable of doing simple jobs well but for more complex ones, like a dress reconstruction, I wouldn't trust her. I feel because the first and second alterations were done not too well, any further will just ruin the dress. One thing she's not good at is telling you what will happen to the dress if you do the alteration. I had another simple dress that needed to be shortened and it wasn't a hard job. The stitches showed on the bottom so not complex. When I went back to try it on, because it was shortened there was a lot of flap in the back. It's okay but when I asked her why she didn't tell me this might happen, she said she wasn't paying attention. I expect experts to tell give me advice as to what will happen to my clothes when I do an alteration. I may go to her in the future for simple hems since she is nearby and very friendly but I wouldn't take my more complicated alterations to her. read more

This is for alterations only as I've never had dry cleaning done here. I recently had my wedding dress hemmed and bustled here. As I don't normally require alternations on clothing, I scoured Yelp to find a place I felt I could trust my dress to. I chose Annie based on the reviews and also since she actually picked up the phone when I called, very important. She is highly accommodating (and yet offered advice on length, etc based on her expertise), the work was accurate and fast, the price extremely reasonable, the timing as promised. She also took payment after the work was done, as opposed to some who require it before. Best of all, she was genuinely complimentary - think about it, not many people get to see your dress before the wedding, and it's nice to get confirmation that you chose a good one! :) I felt confident trusting Annie with my dress and got the bonus benefit of increased confidence in my chose of dress going into the wedding. :) read more

Now I add my daughter's treasured princess dresses among the things I bring in for alterations & cleaning. She always does an amazing job getting them to look brand new again--probably not an easy task for a 3 year old's wardrobe :) Alterations are very reasonable & turn around time is quick! This is your typical dry cleaners. Nothing overly exciting. Took my husbands shirts here to be dry cleaned once a month for the last 6 months. In the beginning my experience was great. However, the last few times I have been there I have run into problems. One time I lost the little ticket stub and she told me she could not find the items without it...luckily it turned up a few days later and we were able to get the shirts. We bring in 10 shirts at a time typically and the last 2 times we have dropped them off we were given a specific pickup day and timeframe (I.e. Thursday afternoon etc.). When we went to pick up they were not ready as promised. It's fine if they are not ready but it would be nice if they let us know they needed longer to do the large quantity of shirts BEFORE we drove other there. We have switched to another dry cleaners for this reason. It's simply not convenient. read more

Took in a wedding (well really an elopement) dress in 2 days before the wedding. It was super wrinkled out of the ship bag and had pleats-no way was I dealing with getting wrinkled pleats to lay flat. YES!! After calling nearly 10 local cleaners, I settled on Rose Cleaners to dry clean 11 neck ties. Not only did they offer the best rate (nearly 50% cheaper than some of the other cleaners in San Mateo), but they were also courteous, prompt and honest in their work. To top things off, they even minimally repaired two of the ties that were starting to fall apart at the seams. I love this place. I have been coming here for about eight years now. Annie is so nice. She does a great job with my dry-cleaning and alterations. They always have my garments pressed on time and really nicely wrapped up. So convenient and easy for me to pick up. My alterations are also really nicely done. I always take my jeans to her. She hems them up really nicely and they always come back better than any other place I've been to in the past. She also greets me with a friendly smile every time I walk in. Annie always remembers her customers' names. I promise you, if you walk in a couple more times, she'll remember you for sure! Annie's the best. Convenient location at Shoreview Shopping mall in San Mateo, Annie also does some seamstress work along with the regular drycleaning. It gets busy sometimes but that's the price of popularity. Parking is a challenge sometimes with the construction of the new Chavez Super market at the old Key Market but I'm sure that will change in a few months. read more

When my wedding dress was hacked by another shop, I was concerned that it would only be $30 to fix it. When I came back the dress was beautifully altered. as the first guy to review this place on yelp, let me just say that this place is excellent for suit alterations. i came here on a leap of faith. i had a suit that i wanted altered, but i got it cheap (one of the few benefits of a recession) and felt stupid paying $150 for alterations. i got my my pleats converted to flat front, waist taken out, sleeves on the jacket taken out, and the pants hemmed for a total of 50 dollars. more importantly, the workmanship was excellent. read more

I have been here a few times for dry cleaning and was satisfied until this point. (My Mom thinks that the alteration prices are too high, especially for hemming). Anyway, I took my daughter's folklorico skirt in on Memorial Day. The skirt only needed lace around the skirt and satin ribbons--three different colors. Oh and I asked for elastic wasteband. I provided the lace, ribbons and elastic wasteband. She refused the elastic wasteband I provided and preferred to use her own. I was generous to give her one week to finish the skirt. The skirt was NOT ready when we went to pick it up. We had to return several hours later and then was charged $55. I could not believe how much I was charged! And she took it upon herself to REMOVE the ties of the skirt and replace with a hook for buckling! Lastly, the one blouse I took for dry cleaning, was not ready either. I will not be going back for any services. read more
