Loved this place. Started with Abby who was hostess in near the sidewalk. She found us an outside seat on a beautiful June day and was also giving out different flavors of fudge that they make! She was very personable and made us want to give the restaurant a shot, and we were glad we did. The food was delicious. Salads with blueberries and raspberries in them and a flatbread caprice pizza....just different stuff. It was served to us by our waitress Hannah, who was very sweet and on the ball. Wow!!!! First visit here on Monday of Memorial Day weekend! Surprised by a few of these negative reviews as we had a fabulous lunch! Great staff -so friendly and responsive. Super clean, and great location. Outside under a canopy with our own table fire pit- people watching and enjoying the sights and sounds of downtown Ogunquit. Our selection was a simple chicken club sandwich - avocado, bacon, cheese with lettuce and tomato. It was cooked perfectly on fresh roll with delicious French fries. Who would think such a simple sandwich could be so tasty! Can't wait to return this summer! And oh yes - the fudge is yummy and all desserts are made by the best bakery in OGT. Enjoy! read more

The atmosphere @ the Rose Cove is awesome! We wanted to sit outside at the fire pit tables and enjoy the ambiance. It was really nice! The food was good too. The only reason I lowered a star is because when I got to the bottom of my salad I found a dead fly. I get it. Flies die all the time and fall in things. But when I brought it to my waiter's attention, he apologized and then proceeded to clean off the table and leave the dead-fly salad there. I don't think he did it on purpose. I was just hoping he'd offer me a new salad or a free dessert. :) The blueberry pie was amazing, btw. So good food and wonderful ambiance, but inexperienced waiters. Right in the heart of the downtown. Great for people watching while al fresco dining. Out door seats all have gas heaters built right into the table for both ambiance and warmth on those cool nites. Six of us strolled right in and sat at the bar on a Sat nite around 530 pm. Young bartender I'm told is the new owner. Very pleasant and efficient. He used to work across the street at the Front Porch. Apps ordered were calamari which were light and crispy . A few orders of wings . One buffalo and the other a special Spicy caramel and sea salt. The Caramel Sounds weird but they were rather flavorful. My fave is the scallops wrapped in bacon! I ordered the fish tacos. Three good size chunks of Lightly battered fried Haddock on a soft taco. Very good flavor. I highly recommend. The fish and chips was huge and also superb. One entree was the lobster roll and chowder. I'm told the chowder was very good but the lobster roll disappointed. Very cold lobster knuckles in a Bulkie roll. No mayo and super dry. Got to get the lobster roll down to get a better review. Especially in a sea town like Ogunquit ! Throw in some mayo and a hot buttered roll and it would be awesome . Prices were reasonable and atmosphere was very good. Bathrooms super clean but one door was severely sticking to the point u needed three men and a boy to open and close. Throw in a few 3 in screws in the top hinge and problem solved. Overall I thought the place was good and would come back. A few tweaks and this place would get 5 stars instead of 4 ! read more

This place was.... interesting. My boyfriend and I were walking around aimlessly looking for lunch. So many places we couldn't decide. We stopped and looked at the menu and a girl ran out with a platter of fudge for us to try. Enticing. We actually walked around some more and eventually ended back at Rose Cove because he was craving a Fisherman's Platter. We go in and I was surprised of how casual it was inside. Half of the place is a restaurant the other a candy/ice cream shop. Odd. We're hungry and decide to stay. The ambiance is so lame. The tables and chairs were super cheap. There were actually table numbers taped to some of the tables - really? So he got the Fisherman's Platter which was actually perfect. The scallops were my fave. I got the Lobster Salad. Now it's funny it didn't have a description and for some reason I didn't ask what kind of salad it came with but I certainly didn't expect everything but the kitchen sink. There was a nice amount of lobster meat a top lettuce, tomatoes, grapes, raspberries, blueberries, mushrooms, summer squash, zucchini, broccoli -- what?? And it didn't come with a signature dressing. I chose olive oil and vinegar but couldn't eat the salad as a whole since nothing really went together. So strange! Service wasn't great. I kept having to catch our waitress's eye to ask for things and when that came to the check it took a while. I'm a sucker for anything with Rose in the name but I probably won't be back here. read more

The fish taco was wonderful! The ambiance was excellent, right in town and outside with lovely fireplaces. Unfortunately,we were very disappointed with the lobster roll. They advertise 6 oz of lobster. I truly don't believe there was more than 4 oz and the bread was far too bulky for the amount of lobster in the roll. For $26, we expected better. This place is masquerading as an ice cream shop where you can make sundaes, but really it is a hidden fried food place. We come here at least a couple of times while staying in Ogunquit. Their fried scallops are sweet and not too heavy. Their fried clams are crispy and full-bellied but the last time I popped by they did not have any (tsk, tsk). My oldest son, the lobsta roll enthusiast, loves their rolls here and he is hard to please. Did I mention they have a sundae bar? The restaurant has very nice setup for outdoor dining with individualized tents and built-in tabletop fire places, however, do expect to wait for 45 mins to an hour on a busy weekend. We opted for indoor seating but we still had about 20 mins wait at around 8:30pm on Sunday night. The Nachos were humongous and make a great sharing dish. Almond and berry salad was fresh and light. My son had the clam chowder and lobster roll, both of which he said were excellent. He liked the chowder even better than Barnacle Billy's. He was still a bit hungry after his meal. They also had three very friendly labs just hanging around--getting greeted by dogs was a great way to start the day in Ogunquit. The staff was really friendly and they had fudge samples before you even walk in the door. The fudge was really great. We ordered lobster rolls, clam chowder, lobster bisque, and fish and chips. I didn't have one of the lobster rolls so I can't speak to those, but I heard that they tasted much better than they looked. The fries were amazing. The fried fish was under seasoned and kind of bland. The lobster bisque was under salted as was the clam chowder. Overall, I found the food underwhelming though the service was fantastic. read more

The staff was super friendly and energetic and there were tons of lovely little touches like cute straws in your drinks and fudge served with your check. The key here is to eat outside at one of the tables with its own fire pit. They're warm and cozy and I could honestly watch those fires all day. The food was just ok. The fries are delicious. The chicken fingers reminded me of the worst kind of frozen chicken fingers I'd ever had and seemed to have occasional non meat cartilage chunks. The blueberry bbq sauce was a fresh, tasty blueberry explosions, but I definitely wouldn't describe it as bbq sauce. It's more of a fresh blueberry jam. We had an impromptu dinner here. I really wasn't hungry so I just had a bowl of fruit salad which was good. My fiancée had a seafood platter which was HUGE-and he said it was "good." I really enjoyed sitting on their deck at night. They have tables with mini fire pits built into them. It's a fun touch that also helps keep you warm. A fun place to sit and people watch! read more

This restaurant is AMAZING! It was a busy Saturday night but we got right in. We didn't get to sit in the cool tents they have setup, but that was okay. Our table with a view of the street was perfect. The food was delicious! The lobster bisque was on pointe and the homemade croutons were so good! I had the cheese steak sandwich which was so yummy and my husband had the scallops and clam chowder. Everything was great! They even gave us homemade fudge at the end. We were lucky to be able to eat here because they close for the season tomorrow. Hannah was a wonderful server and took great care of us. I forgot my purse there and didn't realize it until we got back to our hotel 20-30 minutes later. They found it and held it for me. The young man working there was awesome, too! We saw him busting his butt to get food out to customers, bus tables and he took me back to get my purse. Honestly, this is just an amazing place all around. They even make their bread in-house! I frequent this establishment 7-10 times a season. Food is very good and staff is friendly. This Saturday night I encountered the rudest girl taking names by the fudge on the sidewalk. Russian accent I believe. She should never ever deal with customers of any kind. She told me 45 min and gave me a buzzer. I walked across the street to the front porch for 10 min and she buzzed me. We immediately turned around and left. When we walked across the street she said oh no Sorry I gave your table away ....with the rudest tone. Then she said it's the policy, she continued to argue and tell me she buzzed me 3 times ! LIE! Then in the next breath she said I have a table for you but next time you need to be here ! I was so irate I could barely eat! NEVER to return! If the owner hasn't figured out who to expose his patrons to, then I will give someone else my business! Total BS! read more

Overall this place was just okay. The tables outside have fire pits in them which is awesome in theory but in reality got very hot very fast (plus I almost set the menu on fire). The food, baked chicken and the fried seafood sampler, was okay. If I can make it better myself at home I feel a little let down. I don't know where to start from service to food to waiters. Poor service all around. Sitting area is poorly setup. No privacy at all. It feels like you're dinning with strangers. Waiters are not fluent in English. Forget that they're clueless how to serve. Food takes forever to come especially if you only ordered salad and have kids with you. Water was served in plastic cups only to us everyone else had glasses full of water. I had to cancel my order and walked out from this place. Never ever had I done this in my life.
