First time here, on a Monday evening. Couldn't believe how busy it was?!? Couldn't find a parking spot in the lot so I had to park on the street. They do offer valet too. It was very busy inside, lots of people drinking and eating. Had a very positive vibe, smelled amazing too. We had a bigger table for 8 people. Service was fast and prompt. We had 2 servers and they were friendly, kept our water glasses full. I can only comment on the pizzas and they were hot and delicious, we had a cheese, sausage and spinach. The spinach one had loads for spinach and was a big hit. The pasta bowls looked oversized at the neighboring tables. I look forward to coming back soon. read more

Our first visit to Rosebud in a while was good, but not great. We enjoyed the grilled calamari for its spicy flavor and it was perfectly cooked. However, the pasta with clams in white sauce was overcooked and a little bland for ur taste. On the other hand, the lobster ravioli was flavorful and we thought it was the better dish of the two we ordered. The waiter was attentive and very helpful. However, spilled oil on the tables and floors was messy and not addressed, but it was a busy weekend night. For the money, I will probably find another place. read more

We had left over Ceasar salad, 3/4 left of my pasta bolognaise, half of my husband's chicken parmesan and more than half of a piece of carrot cake packed up to take home. The busser picked up the bag and through it away. We told our sever. He took it out of the GARBAGE and tried to give it to us telling us it was NOT in the garbage, the busser put it on a shelf at the server station. We ask for a manager. We tell the manager about all of our leftovers being thrown out. He says "well there is nothing we can do about it now, the kitchen is closed" I let him know our server tried to give it to us. He says " No he didn't, its in the garbage he wouldn't give it to you from the GARBAGE!" OH, but he sure DID. So he says we could come back the next day and he will remake what we had. Um, nope, sorry, can't come back the next day, we live over 20 miles away and our day was full. Asked for a gift card. Said he can't give us one, computer was off (no, it wasn't, servers were still checking out, guests were still in the restaurant) Gave him our name and address, he was gonna send one out "the next day" That was 2 weeks ago. No gift card. What horrible customer service! The food was above average, the service was below average (even before this happened) and $150 for two people . Shame on you Rosebud, your standards sure have wavered to below what you pretend to be. read more

I think I would have completely overlooked the restaurant not being prepared for our reservation if our Server would have been the least bit interested in anything other then wanting to go home. Right from the start you could tell she was annoyed she had another table and that this was a bigger group (7) celebrating a 40th birthday. Spilled wine and just walked away, forgotten food items, rolling eyes. Could have cared less we were celebrating anything even tho there were 40th balloons and presents. Walks over and says "anyone want a dessert menu?" By the time we got the check (which was put in front of the person who's birthday we were celebrating) we really didn't want to go back and forth over paying for a dessert when the manager said dessert was on him for the delay. Apparently they didn't talk. I didn't notice him for the rest of the night maybe he left. The Head Chef came out and was very courteous and everyone else seemed friendly. Overall, food was great. Everyone was happy with their entrees and glad they could offer a gluten free pasta option. The server probably needs a different profession or maybe we just caught her on a bad day. The food was okay. Nothing that would make me want to go back. We had the beef ribs and a small pizza. The pizza was not crispy at all. Chucky Cheese quality. The beef ribs had no bones and was not what I expected. Tasted like a cheaper quality beef that cooked all day in a crock pot. I was talking and taking a break from my food and they kept trying to take my plate away & I kept saying I am not done I'm still working on it. This was our first time here and dinner was excellent. I had the veal parmesan, which was delicious and enough for 3 people! Large portions! DH had the filet special and it was cooked perfectly. Our waitress, Fabiana, was fantastic- attentive, quick and friendly. Everything was great, except for two things: My husband was told he couldn't sub a side of cauliflower in place of the risotto As many people are trying to cut carbs or avoid gluten, that seems like an oversight. So he got a side of cauliflower for $11 (sides are large enough for sharing.) The only food that was subpar was the risotto. It had an odd chemical-like flavor. We told the waitress and she brought a replacement, but that was the same. So maybe it's just our taste. Overall it was a great night out, great atmosphere, and great meal. A month later same exact thing. They were not at all busy. After waiting 5 minutes with nothing from the bar I asked the server. Told her I just wanted a drink, and order takeout and would sit at the bar until it was ready. (A downgrade from my idea of eating at the bar, I'd be there for an hour and a half at this rate) She said someone will be with you and came over to two talking workers who, continued to socialize. After not being acknowledged I left, told them sorry. They said have a good day, which I did at Bobby's. Those two similar style establishments are night and day. Growing up, we'd always take out-of-town guests to Rosebud on Rush downtown. The food is delicious, the portions are ample and there is something for everyone on the menu. Out-of-towners were always impressed and left raving about the food. Living in the suburbs, I can't express enough how thrilled I am to have a Rosebud closer to home. The food is incredible (try the eggplant salad and baked cavatelli) and they've been really accommodating (I've been able to bring in birthday cakes from outside bakeries without issue). Although the location isn't very scenic, it's still nice to have an option to sit out on a patio when the weather is nice. Look no further for good Italian food! read more

I am writing this review in the hopes that the owners/managers read this. I want restaurants in Deerfield to succeed. Recently, I got take out from Rosebud. The staff was very friendly and my order was ready right on time. Hence the two and not a one star review. However, the food was lousy. We ordered Chicken Vesuvio. The bland chicken was bathed in a flavorless liquid. The potatoes were mushy and the peas appeared to be canned - pale green and mushy. The rolls that came with the meal were stale. As much as we hate waste, we ended up throwing most of the food out. I realize that restaurants are having a tough go of it right now, but for the hefty prices Rosebud is charging, they need to do better. We won't be going back. read more

I was quite fond of the highland park location back when I was in high school, so the reviews here made me nonplussed to say the least. However, the updated and more casual atmosphere and newly "redesigned" menu damages and brings down the rosebud name considerably. I would look into the original one downtown before this. Came with my family, my birthday dinner before returning to los Angeles, and ordered the minestrone soup for my appetizer. Soup was the highlight of the meal. Parmesan comes in the shaker, not the premium flip up with the spoon. Things took a dive when my veal Parmesan and pasta came out absolutely cold. Worse than that : they completely redid the way they made the veal, and it shows. Sauce was different , lacked Italian authenticity and the veal was not pounded to a nicely thinnish reddish velvet texture with red sauce, but replaced with an orangish semi bland sauce. Pasta was not defaulted as the rigatoni, but the sauce was also cold. Gave it back, and they reheated. My mother found a hair in her chicken Parmesan, but they took it off the bill. Complimentary cannoli for me as it was my birthday. What's up with the staff serving the entrees in the pan to you? Like are they suggesting it's more authentic when they bring it out that way? It's supposed to be an Upscale Italian restaurant. Come on, now! 2.5 but rounding up to a three because they did make things right and gave me a free cannoli read more

Sat at the bar with my wife for dinner. Ambience was the best part of the meal. We split a chopped salad that was bland -- I had to add salt and pepper to season it up. And I ordered the chicken Milanese which was huge in taste but dry. Drinks were good. Overall there are much better Italian restaurants, especially for the price. read more

My family has gotten takeout from Rosebud for years and their food is consistently great. The rigatoni alla vodka and eggplant stack salad are my favorites, but I also love their baked cavatelli and penne bolognese. Takeout is always super easy and their food is great! read more

It's my first time here and I had only been at the Rosebud's in Chicago before years ago and didn't know what to expect, but given the quality of the food, I'd say they are not bad but definitely overpriced. I ordered some wine by the bottle and noted for $36 I would expect it to serve the traditional 4 glasses of wine, but it only served 2 glasses! I should have ordered by the glass and it would have been cheaper. I had the brick chicken which was good, but a little over salted. My friends at the table ordered fish and it was served fresh. The appetizer that we shared were the grilled seafood and it could have made a meal so that was tasty. The desserts looked better than they tasted so overall an average experience for a hefty bill. I am SHOCKED to see this place has only 2.5 star reviews. I do not know how that is possible! I did not read them and do not want to as I do not want to be influenced by bad reviews of my new favorite burger on planet earth! I NEVER write reviews, but HAD to in this case. My experience is all surrounding the quality of a burger I had at Rosebud's in Deerfield on Tuesday 9/15/2020. It was absolutely, hands down, the best burger I have ever eaten. That is saying something as I figured out last night. I was using the discussion of the Rosebud's burger in conjunction with my propensity for eating burgers everywhere to attempt to teach my 2nd and 4th grader some math.....we determined I have eaten about 5,000 burgers in my lifetime. Rosebuds is heads and shoulders the stand out. Right when the burger came I noted that it was on a perfect Z-best style bun and it had the clear juices on top. I thought that it must be undercooked; I always order medium well and therefore never get a juicy burger. Well.... I bit into it and the juices were literally flowing down my face, absolutely piping hot. I had to give it a minute to cool. The burger was a PERFECT medium well, yet still amazingly juicy. I don't know how they did it! It was also massive and I was able to make two meals out of it. A HUGE serving of perfectly cooked fries to boot! Very good Italian! Solid every time! Yes they have big portions so plan your meal. I personally enjoy carry out because it is loud and tight in there. Rosebud has places all over the Chicago area. We are happy it's still close to home. Here is my family's favorites: Minestrone soup Sausage and Peppers Fried Calamari - ALL TIME BEST!! Rigatoni Pasta with Vodka sauce Eggplant Parm Salad Crispy Brick Chicken Bolognese Pasta We order one or a few of dishes once a month. It's a guranteed great carry out and nice dinner at home. Coco was great as a server and with recommendations. Portions were huge. But the veal was really tough. I had to ask for a steak knife to cut through the Veal Braciole. Rosebud gives Italian food a bad name. Their brick chicken is tough and flavorless and they made us a wedge salad without bacon and no blue cheese dressing. What sort of wedge salad doesn't come with blue cheese?? Just crappy canola oil italian dressing. Called to complain they said 'thats the way we make it. Classy place- they did cook the chicken into an actual brick like state so at least i wont get food poisoning Got it carry out so we were very disappointed with our $70 worth of nearly inedible food. I loved the food here! I ordered sausage and peppers (appetizer menu) as my main dish and it was so flavorful!!!! The sausage was perfectly cooked. Calamari as an appetizer was delicious. My dad and sister got spaghetti and meatballs and the portion was huge and also super tasty! Our service was good, which was surprising considering previous reviews I had read. Maybe it depends on which server you get! But my experience was good overall and I'll probably be back! read more

Hubby and I have been back twice since my review. I posted some pictures of our "go to" dishes. Mine is the plain baked salmon. Hubby's is the chicken parmesan. We both still love the food. The drinks are good... still not as good as the old place in HP. The service is better... although we did have to track down our waiter twice. It was A LOT less crowded the last time we went (hmm-mmm, maybe folks are staying away!) so it made it a more enjoyable evening. The tables are so close together that the busboy bumped us several times. I wish they would do something to class it up a bit so the ambiance matches the prices. Oh well... it will never be the same as in HP, but I did give it another star for being "ok"..... :-( read more
