Been to this restaurant multiple times and it never disappoints. I have always go during lunch time and when the weather is great I would get seated outside with the nice view. Great service and great food! Rigatoni alla vodka and calamaretti are the top favs.

Was there with my lovely girlfriend on Monday night. We ordered the happy hour margarita pizza for an app--delish, great ratio of dough to sauce to cheese, great texture. Shared the pesto chicken pasta, also tasty. We sat on the patio and they quickly brought over a heater. Finished the night with their espresso martini--amazing, espresso was strong but not overpowering. Alexa was our server--she was great even with us being her last table out there! Did not feel rushed whatsoever and she was very attentive. Lovely meal with a great view, would recommend to anyone wanting Italian in the area.

I love Italian. We came here for my son. He wanted calamari. He gave it a 9 out of 10. I got the gnocchi with wild boar. Paired with an expresso martini. Would highly recommend a seating in between the view & kitchen. As busy as the place is. The whole staff was great with seating & smiles. As a chef myself it was so great to come see the utmost in everything.

The food was great and reasonably priced! I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy, but the hostesses were super organized. They were very kind and friendly! We did find ourselves waiting for our server for quite some time, but it was a busy day so it was understandable. Great atmosphere at this place! Great for pictures!

Best Italian restaurant with waterfront views on Coronado Island! We came here for a romantic dinner and this restaurant has a wide menu variety with affordable pricing and great service. Easy to come here on a date or family dinner. Highly recommend for those traveling to Coronado island!

Had a great family lunch at Il Fornaio in San Diego! We got there early, so the place was still quiet which was an awesome treat. It actually worked out perfectly because I was able to snap some photos and grab behind-the-scenes video for my Forks UP! series. Loved catching the bar team warming up for the day and the chef getting ready for what turned out to be a great dining experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful, elegant with a classic Italian feel that's inviting without being stuffy. Between the big bar and the spacious patio, there's a spot for everyone, whether you're here for a casual lunch, happy hour, or a fancy dinner dated. Now get ready, we ordered a ton (no regrets): Bruschetta: Light, fresh, and full of flavor. Gnocchi Gratinati: Perfectly fluffy and rich -- easily my favorite. Gnocchi al Sugo di Cinghiale: Absolutely delicious -- comforting and hearty. Linguine Mare Chiaro: A seafood lover's dream. Rigatoni alla Vodka: Kid-approved and adult-enjoyed. Pizzas (Fradiavola, Cristina, Margherita): All very good; thin crust, nicely balanced -- just a bit similar to each other. Service was solid, attentive, organized, and everything came out right. While it wasn't the kind of service that makes you feel like family, it was smooth and professional, which made for a relaxing time with our big group. Overall, Il Fornaio is definitely worth checking out if you're in the San Diego area. Great food, pretty setting, and a nice mix of upscale and comfortable. Can't wait to share our full video review soon on our socials at @colefamilyvalues --- stay tuned for that one!

We reserved on Open Table here to bring our friend who was visiting town. Our party of 3 was excited to try this place out. Il Fornaio is on the water in Coronado, right next to Peohe's. We arrived 5min before our 7p reservation time and the hostesses were able to locate our reservation and seat us immediately. We were seated at a wonderful window view dining seat inside. There were air conditioning vents on the window panes that made it chilly for those of us who sat next to the window. The view was great, we had daylight and nightlight dining at this reservation time...bonus! Our server was customer service oriented and he was very attentive. He checked in with us often. We ordered: Bruschetta Asortito for the table, a Papardelle and Chicken dish with creamy sauce, a Pesto Gnocchi dish no meat, a steak entree with gravy, one 0% beer, 1 Old Fashioned, and 1 Tequila drink. Dessert was the "Vulcano" Cake which I thought was spelled wrong, but maybe that is how they spell it in Italian? My Gnocchi Pesto entree was not good at all. There was no pesto flavor. It was brown colored, gravy consistency sauce with flecks of green herbs in it...NOT pesto. The "Bruschetta Asortito" for the table had the correct pesto on one of the breads, but my entree's execution failed. I am a BIG traditional PESTO FAN. The gnocchi also was too soggy. The Old Fashioned drink was made perfectly. Dessert Vulcano Cake was good. The whole party had a lot of gas in the evening, upset stomach at 2am, as well as the day after this meal. For our dining table choice, customer service experience, the drinks, and dessert, I gave 2 stars overall for our dining experience. The food execution, gassy tummies, and upset stomachs after eating here took away 3 stars

Located in Coronado, right along the water. Good views of the bay. Came here on a Tuesday night. Free parking. Plenty of seating. Place looked nice in the inside. Service was good and very nice. Food came out promptly. Got the Calamaretti Fritti, hamachi crudo, Lasagna Ferrarese, and the Tagliatelle Bolognese. The calamari was not bad. Was not chewy. I never had crudo in big chunks. Not bad. The sauce was very overpowering. Taking away from the yellowtail. The lasagna was very good. Have not had lasagna this good in a very long time. The sauce was thick. You can cut through it without everything falling apart. The cheese did not slide off. The tagliatelle was also very good. Because of those entries. We are definitely coming back to try other items from the menu.

    1/2 order of Chicken Parm

What a wonderful pre Mother's Day lunch I had with a friend today. Everything was prepared beautifully & tasted even better than it looked! We split a Cesar salad, we split a chicken parmesan entree that came with pomodoro spaghetti. Plus, we split an spumoni (Italian ice cream) spectacular dessert!!! The restaurant is beautiful with it's setting in Coronado with the bay & downtown view. The server, Vonna was terrific, friendly & provided great customer service! Even the owner came over to see how we liked our meal. l'll definitely be coming back to II Fornaio, but this time with my husband!

UPDATE. I've visited this place a few times now, and I must say, the food and view have never disappointed me. Our server and team was attentive. There were 5 of us in the group. The only thing was the Negroni that I ordered. It was not balanced compared to others that I had. The cocktail came across as harsh and lingering, with a bitter aftertaste that wasn't pleasant for my palate. Overall, the Negroni felt more intense than enjoyable.

I'm usually not a fan of places when it seems like a usual tourist trap. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. For starters they were really accommodating with my elderly doggo on their patio and even made of water for him. Our server Hector was simply outstanding and attentive . Had a sampling of the menu and everything was spot on. The penne alla vodka was perfectly al dente and the vodka sauce was nicely balanced with hint of a char from the bacon. The seafood di marre pasta was spectacular with plump and generous seafood and with a savory marina sauce. All the round a fantastic stop here and would definitely recommend given its amazing views as well

    Pollo Ai Funghi

Last Saturday, we finally checked out Il Fornaio in Coronado after passing by it countless times during our visits to the island. It's always busy--and now we know why. This time, we planned ahead and made a reservation for our weekly date night, which definitely paid off. We were seated inside with a beautiful view of the water, setting the tone for a great evening. We started with the Bruschette Assortite and Calamaretti Fritti--both were spot on. For the main course, I ordered the Pollo Ai Funghi, while my wife had the Salmone Alla Griglia. Both dishes were absolutely fantastic--rich in flavor, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. It was so good that we've already planned to come back next week with a group of 11. As a marketing consultant--and because the dish was that impressive--I couldn't resist capturing a photo of my Pollo Ai Funghi. It's the kind of dish that deserves to be featured.

My family and I came here before the SD Bay Parade of Lights. Reservations were limited well in advance. Parking was limited due to the event. When we came, we were seated right away. Service was slow to start. We started with Burrata con Prosciutto. I got rigatoni alla vodka, my cousin got tagliatelle bolognese & my brother got margherita pizza. Everything was good but overpriced. Idk if I'd come back.

The pear salad with shrimp! So good!

Since I tend to always ask for Italian or Greek food, I felt it was only right for me to acquiesce to what they wanted to eat that night. Blue Water sits about halfway between Old Town and Little Italy on the side of I-5 opposite from the international airport. There are other restaurants clustered in these few blocks that are also popular. If you are willing to walk a few blocks, you can take the trolley here. One orders at the counter and the food is then brought out to you via a placard with a number you put on your table. The service at Blue Water was unremarkable, but, since there was a constant line, you can't expect them to fawn over you. The prices vary, but, for the more "exclusive" slabs of fish, they run a little on the higher side. The interior has woodsy and somewhat seaside nautical decor. It might also take a little bit of work to find a table owing to its popularity. I will eat seafood, and like some types of seafood very much, but I'd say I don't care for more than half of the seafood out there. Here, they feature many types of seafood, all of which are fresh and you can peruse all the glass cases displaying it. Coming from the kitchen, there are some themed and nuanced presentations of it. I didn't need an entire fish market. I just order pieces of fish that can be presented like a piece of steak and, hopefully, with as little cartilage as possible. Similarly, I also like some smaller fish made to look that way, such as trout. I'm not a big fan of shellfish and don't eat clams, mussels, calamari, and others, but do like shrimp and scallops. They seem to put together some nice platters with scallops. I will also eat lobster, but have probably done so less than what one can count on two hands. If someone wants to treat me to the latter, I'm in. The three platters delivered to the table were enjoyed with my friends hosting me here enjoying the food more than I did. To keep things simple, I ordered a trio of fish tacos. They were fairly good. My friends liked their dishes more than I did. I typically wonder if I'm going astray when I'm not giving a business a rating that's in line with the herd. Three stars does indeed mean that a place is fine and Blue Water is fine. I might be doing this because of the service, the pricing of some items such that you wouldn't want to add much on, and the overall appeal of my selected dish. However, since there are many other four and five star reviews, and if you really like fish, Blue Water will most likely be reliable for you.

The bartenders were friendly and attentive and offered their food and drink recommendations. We ordered the calamari, brussels sprouts, lobster roll, and rib eye. Way too much food for two people but so worth it! The brussels sprouts were hearty and the calamari was nice and crunchy, topped with a zesty sauce. The lobster roll was served either Maine-style (cold) or Connecticut-style (warm). I ordered it cold and when it arrived, I did not leave a single crumb on the plate. The bun was buttered and nicely toasted with a massive amount of lobster filling in it. Served with fries, it was a great dish that left me satisfied but not overstuffed. My boyfriend had the ribeye and was cooked to his satisfaction. It was tender, salted well, and did not need any condiments added. We will definitely be back when we're in town!

The drinks were reasonably priced, and comparing it to the stadium, the drinks were cheap. The servers were very attentive and friendly. Free sourdough bread was offered, where then came our food. The poke (appetizer) was fresh, light and tasty. Nothing too excessive that will fill you up, but will leave you content until you enter the stadium to sample their offerings. The fish and chips was of quality and crisp from beginning to end. The sourdough bread ws delicious and was accompanied by whipped butter. The oysters were fresh, and there was a variety of oysters. If you try the sampler, you will be able to taste oysters from the Atlantic ocean and Pacific ocean. There is a difference in taste due to the environment, but I'll leave that up to your taste buds. This establishment offered a wide variety of beers. They also have a full bar. The prices are very reasonable. I did wish that they offer a happy hour menu, even if it was only at the bar. There's potential, but I'm sure the Water Grill wants to maintain a higher level of service but putting exceptional care in delivering food and service.

But every once in a while, hubby has a special request & we make it happen. His San Diego wish? Thursday night all-you-can-eat lobster dinner at 100s Seafood Grill Buffet. And when I say seafood extravaganza, I mean it. Beyond the lobster, there were crab legs, oysters, sushi galore (maki, nigiri & sashimi), lots of Asian specialties plus plenty of American comfort-food favorites to satisfy just about everyone. Now, full disclosure: my feelings were a little mixed, but hubby? He was living his absolute best life. The lobster is served cut in half & broiled, which unfortunately made the meat sort of melt into the shell. Each half ended up being only a couple bites & you did have to wait in line to grab one when fresh trays came out (one half per person at a time). That said, credit where it is due: the kitchen brought out lobster trays pretty regularly, so the wait never felt unreasonable. Meanwhile, hubby proceeded to eat what I can only describe as his body weight in crab legs. His only critique was that he prefers them served hot rather than cold, although the hot butter on draft definitely helped make up for that. I also appreciated how many unique dishes were available beyond seafood, making the buffet feel more interesting than your standard steam-table experience. And for me, the dessert section was a standout, especially the gelato station, which I may or may not have visited more than once. At $56.99, my personal preference would probably be to spend that money at a really good sushi restaurant. But if your dream scenario involves unlimited lobster, crab legs, oysters & a seafood feast where you can try a little bit of everything, this place absolutely delivers. Final verdict? Maybe not my personal seafood fantasy but hubby was THRILLED & sometimes that's the most important review of all. NOM NOM NOM #YUM

That's a disgusting amount of money to pay for diarrhea inducing food!!! Yuck 1 out of 5 stars because YELP won't allow me to score this place any lower. Best part of my meal was the Diet Pepsi and coconut gelato.

Linguine and Clams - fresh clams with delicious sauce but I wish it could have been thicker and linguine is more al dente. Had to request for extra parmesan cheese. Soup of the Day/ Lobster bisque - smooth, creamy, and well seasoned soup. Glad there's not too much wine added. Some restaurants, wine overpowers the soup. Outstanding customer service from front desk to our servers. We were given a great table overlooking San Diego Bay. Thanks for the free brownies with ice cream. Highly recommended!
