Easy 5 star rating. Cozy new restaurant in downtown Oceanside. We saw all of the positive ratings on yelp and decided to check it out for dinner on a weeknight. Waiting staff was super friendly. They have a variety of local beers on tap, and we went with the always good Latitude 33. The complementary bread appetizer was really good- their olive oil/ vinegar/ onion sauce was unique and tasteful. We started with the Croqueta appetizer; holy moly this was flavorful. The crispy outside and the soft, fluffy ingredients within, combined with the aioli, made me say "WOW" out loud. For entrees, we did the Pineapple Habanero Pizza and the Chicken Mole. The pizza was okay- the flavor combination was new and inventive, but it wasn't for me or my fiancee. However, the Chicken Mole was the best chicken dish I've had at a restaurant in California. Ever. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the battered exterior had a crispiness that reminded me of katsu we had in Tokyo- very light and flaky. The mole sauce was perfect- sweet with bitter under tones. To top it off, the rice was also amazing. We ended with the Tiramisu, but we found it average per our liking. We'll be back again, soon. This place was a little hidden gem on a popular street in Oceanside. Super fun decor and every single person working was super sweet and accommodating. Was so excited to try this place yet was so let down. They are trying but not delivering. Took 25 min to get a beer when it was dead, the food that came out was cold on hot plates that had sat under a heat lamp. The order was wrong but no mention was made by the staff that they were out of a key item in my dish. The Last nail was they said they had no chef working, Well guys it really showed in all aspects of the meal. Would not go here again without some serious overhaul. read more

Wow!! I was hooked immediately with the dipping sauce that came with the bread. You MUST try it. The apple salad was a large portion with really fresh ingredients. I ate every last bite. Beyond the tasty food, the atmosphere really pulls you in. What a great mix of art and music. The staff makes you feel like you're breaking bread with some old friends. There is a warm vibe that's conducive to great conversation and actually getting to enjoy your meal beyond just the taste. If you want to support a local business that is absolutely serving delectable dishes, you MUST dine at Rosewood kitchen. We ate at Rosewood kitchen because the reviews were very strong, and the restaurant is dog-friendly. We had 7:00 pm reservations for tonight (Saturday) and were promptly seated in a safely- spaced, outdoor area in front of the restaurant. Though the Dj's music was a bit too much at first, he quickly accommodated our request to dial it down and we proceeded to enjoy a memorable meal. Our 19-year-old ordered the Diavolo with chorizo pizza. The crust was blistered and chewy. The sauce was devilishly spicy and oh-so-tasty!!!! The pizza's 11-inch diameter was a generous serving size and enough to address our son's hunger. My husband ordered the carbonara pasta dish. The buttery cheesy sauce accented the bacon-studded al dente pasta perfectly. As for me, I ordered the best dish of the night. If you dine at Rosewood kitchen, you MUST order the CHICKEN MOLE. From the paper thin, full-flavored fried chicken skin to the poblano-based chocolate mole sauce, you will not soon forget this gustatory delight. The accompanying Arborio risotto provided the ideal base to nestle the two boneless pieces of thigh meat. Joshua, one of the restaurant owners, explained the chicken is marinated for two days to ensure it remains juicy once cooked. Our little family of three has tried to balance being safe and healthy, against the potential risks of going out occasionally to add a bit of enjoyment to our CoVid prescribed lives. It is clear that a great deal of thought goes into the creation of each dish at Rosewood kitchen. The depth of flavors underscores the fact that the chef does not rely upon culinary shortcuts when executing this establishment's offerings. Rosewood kitchen is a wonderful local business that merits our support. We will soon be back to try other things on the menu. We have also decided that all future meals will always include at least one order of the chicken mole. read more

We have been looking forward to eating here since they opened! Our neighbors went opening night and raved about the food. I can honestly say our expectations were blown out of the water! This place is delicious and extremely affordable, especially considering the high level of food they serve. The owner, Joshua, helped us. He described their food as gourmet casual which is very true! Their ambiance is very comfortable and causal but everything we ordered was off the charts. I love how they created a little succulent garden on the perimeter of the outdoor seating area and inside of the restaurant is very well done and beautiful Their chef is from Sicily and makes some of the best pizza I've ever had! I honestly can't wait to come back and try everything on the menu. If you have a pup, you're welcome to sit on the patio. Josh even delivered our puppy her own water! Wow! This place needs TEN stars! We sat on the front patio in downtown Oceanside, with a nice Ocean peak view and a bit east of the PCH so it was more quiet. We shared Brussels sprouts, an amazing salad, and potato fritters. The food was very creative and delicious - it was really perfect. Some places try so hard to make things different/unique, but at the cost of taste. Not the case here. The staff was friendly. And OOOOOOH the WATER! A little cucumber flavor and lemon - it was shocking when we tasted it. This is my first and will probably my last ever comment on WATER in a review. The waitress was very sweet but the food was awful. I don't think anyone at our table actually ate any of it. The pizza came out black and burnt, it tasted like eating a burnt piece of toast. Before this week's visit It had been about a year and a half since my last visit to Rosewood Kitchen; back then the staff was attentive and the food was great. The food is still great but poor quality service really made this weeks experience sub par. Wait staff walked by my husband and I multiple times without checking if we needed a refill (our glasses were empty) or if we needed anything. While the food was decent I thought the price was a little steep. We paid $19 for what we found out was ONLY 5 lobster raviolis. Finally made it here and so glad I did! It was very busy, but my husband and I were able to get a table within a couple minutes. We were able to sample some wine in order to make our selection. Bread didn't come out right away, but it was okay because we had our wine. The service was really good even though they were so busy and more than one person made sure we had what we needed. Loved this place. We didn't actually eat at the restaurant because the wait was too long, so they told us that if we go across the street to the wine bar, that they'll deliver our order for us. We could place the order right there, or we could call it in while at the wine bar Coomber (across the street). The super friendly owner brought us our meal. He gave us his background and how he and his wife opened up the restaurant. Definitely seems like a family run business. We ordered more items later on in the evening and he gladly ran them over to us. It was very convenient. We liked the service and his friendly demeanor.
