My brother took me to Rosie's in Ocean gate, NJ today and I loved it. Great service, the food delicious and atmosphere lovely. We had happy hour eats and shared a meal. The coconut shrimp tasty and the wings so good. The chicken wings you get a choice of flavors, we had Asian. The wings were made like lolliepop shape so easy to eat. The main meal was seared halibut with broccolini and mashed potatoes. I will go again to try other apps and entrees. Oh I almost forgot, the drink I got was the so good if you like spicey. Finally, a top notch, fine dining restaurant in Ocean County. The restaurant has been beautifully renovated and decorated. From the moment you walk in you are impressed with the atmosphere. The staff are polite, professional, and very attentive. The menu has something for everyone with specials that change often. Every plate that comes out of the kitchen is beautifully prepared and presented. Recently brought our friends there for dinner, our Cocktails were on point, salad and appetizers were delicious. Our main courses which consisted of the pan seared scallops special, 14 ounce ribeye, seafood risotto, and a sous vide pork chop. Not one complaint could be added. After walking through the empty bar we entered a 33% full stylish dining room on Saturday night. We were escorted up a long steep flight of stairs to an empty dining room. Empty of customers. There was one table being used by the staff to fold napkins and do something with their low quality silverware (usually a telltale sign). We were given a cocktail menu, a regular menu, and the specials menu. Shortly thereafter we were told about the unwritten specials. Very odd. Cold fried anything is usually a bad idea. The cold fried olives on the charcuterie board support my hypothesis. The meats were nicely sliced and the cheeses nicely cubed. It was average at best. The lobster bisque was very good. Worthy of half a star. The other half star goes to the new waitress who was trying her best under the circumstances aforementioned. She had two tables that night. Ours and one all the way downstairs. I ordered the halibut which came with whipped potato, garlic sautéed spinach, and a lemon beurre blanc sauce. I asked for no whipped potato and requested any vegetable. Naturally, the plate showed up with whipped potato. I pointed it out to our waitress who was apologetic, and surprised. A side of asparagus was immediately brought upstairs to our still private dining room. This was the WORST fish dish that I have ever been served. The fish wasn't fresh and was under seasoned. I ate two bites. My wife smelled it and sensed ammonia. The lemon beurre blanc sauce was awful and broken. No evidence of lemons. The asparagus also under seasoned. The only consistency that night was that my wife was served the WORST fish dish of her life. She ordered the inedible special of seared tuna with baby carrots. This was an ugly dish with taste to match. Two bites later we were done with this place. On our way out we asked the two young women that were FOH why we were seated all by ourselves upstairs in that drab second dining room. We got a response, with attitude, that once up there we should have asked to be seated downstairs. The dining room was still at 33% occupancy when we left. We would never return. read more

Recently dined with Rosie's for a private event in their upstairs dining space. I was so delightfully surprised at the quality of our experience. First, Robert was really great to work with. He was incredibly responsive and helpful. The food was absolutely wonderful. A fine dining experience here by the shore. The salmon was perfectly cooked, paired with Brussels sprouts and a ginger hinted sticky rice, short ribs were flavorful and tender, and each course delightfully presented. First this was in my opinion a superior meal with superior service . The only complaint if I have to make one is that it became too loud to hear each other talk. This night was a 180 degree turn around from the first time we visited which was week 2 of the opening of the restaurant. This meal turned me into a super fan and that's not easy. We were lucky enough to meet the owner who is passionate about the restaurant and could quickly tell, this is not a side project for them. Rosie's is the real deal. Our waitress was attentive but not over bearing, a true gift. To start off, our drinks were blended well and showcases Rosie's mixologist. Appetizers: We had A5 thin sliced steak that melted upon touching our palate. Next, we had Burrata with prosciutto over toasted bread. Fantastic and very fresh!!! We asked our sever to pass our compliments to the chef and are glad we did. The chef made a table side appearance and dropped off a menu item he was working on. We will not give it away to cause them undue requests but it contained duck and took months to cure!!! Truly over the top! Now to our entrees, I had one of the specials, Braised short rib with exotic mushrooms over house made pasta. Breathtaking . It was as if Willy Wonka was back in that kitchen. A symphony of flavor profiles that married well. THE BEST PASTA DISH OF 2024!!! We also ordered the Scallops over lemon orzo. Look at the photo, we are not talking small or even medium scallops but deep sea jumbo scallops. Perfectly seared and not overcooked. They were laying over a bed of lemon Orzo. This is a tricky dish as the lemon could easily overpower the senses and drown out the star of the show. Maybe it had something to do with it being Valentine's weekend, but my wife and I had dinner here on the Saturday after. Our Coconut Shrimp appetizer was bland and slightly overcooked. I ordered Steak and Lobster Pasta. The 1/2 lobster tail was over broiled to the point of not being able to remove the shell without using my hands to pry it out. My wife liked her Short Ribs but I found they lacked any flavor. We saved the portion she did not eat and gave it to our dogs. They liked it! We had my son's 50th Birthday dinner on a Sunday afternoon. There was 30 people present. ( a few kids) It was so great! First, it was so easy to book and it was set up beautifully. The food was so delicious, served hot and each table had their meals served at the same time. The sevice was exceptional. The main server was awesome. She greeted everyone, made sure they had something to drink right away. She was quick, efficient and always smiling from the first drink to the last bite of Birthday Cake. (sorry, i wish I could remember her name.) The rest of the staff helping her and the bar staff were also terrific. My family complimented the food, the service, and a general always smiling staff. One of the owners, Sue, was present and interacted with my family when they arrived and she was so gracious! This is not unusual. I have been to Rosie's several times and it's always great. Happy hour, Martini Mondays and special events are always fun because the bar food is delicious and staff is always happy. Nothing you ask for is a problem. I give my highest compliments to the owners, Sue and Rob (Bobby. ) sue. Rob and the hostesses are always around greeting everyone and spending a couple of minutes chatting with their patrons. Their beautiful smiles are reflected in their staff. I just love going to Rosie's. read more

Went recently with my husband after having gone with a friend this summer and having a great meal. Unfortunately the experience was night and day. In the summer our food was top notch. Service was incredible. Ambiance was fantastic. Recently, however, I can't say the same. Our table was in a very high traffic location and it was very loud. The waiter seemed new, and that's fine, I spent many years in the restaurant industry, I have plenty of patience for people learning the ropes. The apps were sub par. I ordered the buratta and the "crustini" was anything but. More like cold wet bread that was slapped on a charbroil flame grill for black marks. We didn't recieve our wine until halfway through our meal. Did not get bread and butter like every other table nearby. My husbands steak was over cooked and my short rib was cold. The asparagus accompanying it also had that flame charbroil taste. Very unappetizing. We ordeeed tiramisu for dessert and it was very flat and extremely soggy. Absolutely saturated in espresso and honestly didn't taste fresh. This meal cost over $200 and was not anything to impress and certainly doesn't make us want to return. In this economy spending that kind of money on one meal should leave you wow'd and eager to return. That just isn't the case here. read more

Rosie's is a beautiful fine dining restaurant in Ocean Gate. There is seating both in the restaurant and at the bar. My party chose to sit in the bar and we were instantly greeted by wonderful and attentive staff. The menu is vast and truly has something for everyone! I ordered the lobster roll, a bar food special, and it was incredible. The lobster macaroni was another favorite of the table. Everything that we ordered was fresh, thoughtfully created, and exceeded expectations. Their flash fried wasabi crusted sea bass over sticky rice w/honey soy glaze, juicy diced mango and corn&cabbage slaw was quite literally one of the most perfectly prepared, flavor-balanced dishes I have ever eaten. Hands down the best sea bass for sure! Only sad that this was a 'special' because I would probably order it every single time... The homemade pappardelle w/short rib in a garlic cream sauce was excellent, as well... smitten w/their lively, yet intimate atmosphere, the incredibly attentive and friendly staff, perfectly prepared cocktails and the location w/that great view of the water. Restaurant was pretty and had a good atmosphere, the food was okay, we had a tomahawk steak for 2 and it was extremely tough and the side of veggies (carrots ) were undercooked. They brought the steak to the table and then never brought us a plate or steak knifes and we waited 5-10 mins and flagged down our waitress. The couple next to us had a salad delivered to there table and the waiter realized it wasn't theirs and came back took it off the table and then gave it to another customer.
