Overall a good experience. We had a party of six to celebrate a birthday on Sunday 12/17 at 2pm. It's very clean and modern and we basically had the place to ourselves. Everyone enjoyed their meals, drinks and the service was good. Some the dishes we enjoyed included the tuna nachos, calamari and shrimp appetizers. All were good. My family took our mother here for Mother's Day for the first time but unfortunately the experience was not great. We ordered the strawberry shortcake French toast but received French toast with cream cheese and blueberries. When we asked the manager about the "strawberry shortcake" part of the dish she informed us they ran out of strawberries and there was nothing else to substitute. I wish we would have been informed about this before ordering the French toast for $26. My mother ordered the lobster eggs Benedict but the eggs were almost hard boiled. When we asked the manager about the dish she brought out two fried eggs but they we're not poached eggs. For a $35 breakfast dish we were hoping for poached eggs! read more

Went with 7 other people. Were there at 4:14r and seated right sway. Menu is to small and a little pricey. Three of the women order a breaded chicken dish and all three were raw. Manager came over and told them all he was sorry about that and took them off the bill but that was it. Good point is place is nice and bartend was on point. read more

Appetizer was the pork belly in bbq sauce and it was so so good. I ordered the special which was a chicken dish with prosciutto arugula cheese and a roasted pepper sauce with mashed potato and asparagus. Unfortunately it was cold. Like not able to be eaten cold. It was bought back to heat up and came back warm but not hot. This time I ate it. It was good. Not great but good. Attended Rosie's Galentine's Special last night and it was wonderful! Food was delicious! I usually play it safe and go with a salad & a beef or chicken entrée, but lived it up and tried the Tuna Nachos & a Salmon entree...out of this world! Cocktails, champagne, all were flowing and were top notch. The atmosphere of the night was nothing I even imagined, adorable table scape with rose petals scattered on the tables, a cozy fireplace, a killer DJ, & attentive service from start to finish. Stopped in for a drink during happy hour not long after it opened. I'm sure my drink was not included in their drink specials but $14 for a well drink is far too much. We did not eat there that evening because we were just stopping for a drink. I looked at the menu and it is a bit price. I don't mind paying high prices if it very good. The restaurant is fairly new, everything I had was outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant. The fried calamari was cooked to perfection, lobster bisque so yummy with chunks of lobster. Ravioli bolognese fantastic. We tried so many different things and everything was delicious. If you are in the Ocean Gate area you have to try Rosie's. A hidden gem along Toms River. Ambiance is cool and cozy and the food is amazing. We have tried Happy Hour and the main dining room. My Short Ribs were delicious and a large portion so I brought half of it home. Our other guests enjoyed the salmon and chicken Milanese. The servers and Cookie our hostess were more than helpful and welcoming. I rarely do reviews but I wanted to send out kudos to this wonderful establishment. Most of our dinner was very good. Our waiter was attentive and apologetic. Our appetizer was not appetizing- it was a " Mexican Shrimp Cocktail " $22. I consider that pricey. The shrimp were not deveined. I quietly mentioned it to the waiter- he said he would notify the manage. She came over with 3 shrimp in a cupand asked if I would care for them. I said I was a little turned off to the shrimp. She asked if I wanted another appetizer, I didn't particularly care for the others( oysters, steak tar tar, etc.) I had hoped that all or part of the price for it would be removed. Or our shared dessert would be on the house, it was not. The menu also does not include non alcoholic beverage choices. I asked how much a mock tail would be- a blackberry margarita without the tequila- the server checked just in case, ( surprised) it was $14, the same as a regular margarita. I don't know if a shot of tequila was $14 like all the other drinks, but it seemed ridiculous there was no real menu if you didn't drink. read more

Went for dinner Saturday night, waitress was fine, Too long of a wait on drinks from the bar. Tasteless dinner for the money, seafood dishes where was the seafood? Especially High pricing on such dishes, don't even have a view of the water. Advertising homemade everything on premises where was the lava cake, company did not deliver was the excuse they had given us. So where is all the homemade items coming from? After leaving this restaurant we would have been better off going to Burger King or McDonald's or may be right down the road to Roy Rogers.... honestly what's the hype on this restaurant. This place has great food...however I had a bad experience recently. After seeing that the bar closes at 12am on a Saturday night, I decided to grab 1 drink for myself and 8 of my friends at 10p. Unfortunately, when we entered the bar area (that had at least 10 patrons) we were told that it was "last call". The bartenders stated that it there "weren't many people in the bar", so they were going to close early. I was there with 8 of my friends and we were being rushed out...us being paying patrons. Nice place, but very disappointed w the $36 crab cakes. After ordering and eating the fishy mealy crab cakes, I asked if they used canned crab,this place is on the water. The waitress asked and was surprised it was canned. Meh. After the pandemic, so many places raised prices and cut quality. They said they couldn't use fresh crab because it's too perishable?? What a lovely surprise- they were fully booked but the hostess quickly set us up in bar. Waitress was lovely and efficient with menus and drinks. I had chicken Milanese which came with a cup size of delicious burrata, chicken was moist and tender, salad was lightly dressed and yummy. Husband got vodka penne with grilled chicken- a little different with pieces of ham but he was very happy and even had a lunch portion to bring home. ok, we looked at the reviews and saw a few negative ones which made us consider not going. Boy, are we ecstatic we went for dinner (1/12). We had reservations and was greeted by the cutest hostess ever, big smile, very very nice! Sat a great table and within minutes our server, Sara, came right over and we ordered drinks, water was brought to the table and we were off! The menu is not very large and I like that, the choices were great! Pork, Chicken, Beef and seafood, everything sounded great. We settled on the fried (pan fried) chicken dumplings and the calamari. HOLY SMOKES!! excellent, fresh tasting and really interesting combo of flavors, a must try! For our entrees, I had the chicken malinese, which I get everywhere, this was served with barotta cheese and a very interesting salad with maybe fennel in it, one of the best in the area. My husband had the pork chop, he actually said it was THE BEST PORK CHOP HE HAS EVER HAD! My wife and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary this summer with dinner from Rosie's. Our hope was for a higher end dining experience, but it would unfortunately have to be takeout (we are still unable to dine out indoors due to COVID risks as we both have underlying health conditions). We were both delighted by our incredible dishes. I got the short ribs (savory, succulent, and incredible), and my wife got the chicken Milanese burrata. Often takeout dishes have something lost in translation by the time you get it home, but both dishes were excellent and elevated, even outside of the restaurant setting. The meal was perfectly suited for our very special occasion. The prices were a bit higher than normally found in this area, so it would likely not be an everyday dining experience for us. But the convenient location was a real bonus; having an upscale dining option so close is a great reason to stay in the Gate and celebrate more of our special occasions right here in town. read more
