I've eaten here a bunch of times on visits to Monterey. The standout really is those amazing desserts and you can always just go and grab one (or several) to go. A slice of cake is probably about the size of three regular desserts, so could be good to share or last you a few days. I like how they have a diverse menu so you can get a healthy-ish salad or a big burger kind of depending on what you want. Outdoor seating is very nice as well. They don't have a parking lot but you can usually find a nearby lot or park on the street. A fun place to visit and save room for dessert! read more

Been coming to Rosine's for many years now, also a life long resident. They have large portions with such deliciousness to each plate I've tried. The best plates I've tried are the calamari , lasagna and chicken fried steak. My recommendation is to share plates among your friends or family because they are huge. The service is good but sometimes a tad slow but that doesn't bother me. It's a nice restaurant for gatherings , date night and very chill vibes. Just had a new born last month, and as a result wr have had quite a bit of family come visit and have done a lot of eating out. We have we been to Rosines twice in a month and it has been EXCELLENT both times. Excellent service, very big and vast menu, incredibly delicious food. I have had the lamb shanks my first time and the Black and Blue steak the second time. Both were great, but the steak really hit the spot tonight. Perfectly cooked, great char, and you can't go wrong with a tone of blue cheese topped on it. Also, GET THE Minestrone soup. This is on like any other minestrone soup I have ever had. My wife and I recently spent a few days in Monterey and decided to try this place. The waiter who served us (Christian P.) was very attentive to all the tables he was attending to, except for ours. When we ordered, I asked him about one of the soups on the menu. The only information he gave us was to repeat the name of the soup, even though we asked him several times what kind of soup it was--in other words, a little more detail to help us decide if it sounded good. He just kept repeating the name of the soup. When we finished, he came over and asked if we wanted takeout boxes. We told him we needed two, but he only brought one. Besides that, he didn't even come back with the bill; instead, he returned with the card reader without even asking if the bill was correct (bill that we never saw) or if we were ready to pay. He simply left the card reader and went to continue chatting with other customers and never returned. We had to call another waitress to give us another takeout box and take the card reader away. The only positive thing was the manager who, seeing me carrying the food boxes, was kind enough to offer me a bag. Regarding the food, all I can say is that I've had much more tender pork ribs for less money than the ones they served me that day. I simply would never return to this place, much less recommend it to anyone I know. read more

So I was in town for work. We were looking for a spot to eat. Alvarado brewery sucked because they wouldn't split checks. I am here in work and I must pay with my work credit card otherwise I don't eat. We happened to go to Rosine's. Large menu and the prices were not crazy. I did get lost in the menu. I was undecided. I asked the nice waiter if the French dip was good in which he said it was. I will soon find out this was a mistake. This place serves Pepsi product which is awesome. The issue is their soda Calibration is off because their Diet Pepsi didn't taste that great. The food came out fast. Time to eat. The fries were actually good. Now let's talk about the sandwich. The meat was dry. So DRY that not even the au jus could help this sandwich. Plus the flavor of the meat was basically flavorless. We were in Monterey for a few days and asked around for a good breakfast spot! It was Easter weekend so we knew things were busy and needed reservations. We called around to 2 or 3 different places and all had wait times of about an hr. Rosine's quoted me about 20 mins so after looking at the menu we decided to put our name down. They take your number and text you when your table is available. I love this because we got to walk around at various shops nearby. My boyfriend stopped at the guitar store of course, and we may or may not have gotten a quick donut from Red's to satisfy my sons craving ;). We were sat probably just a little over 20 mins in a booth and had servers come straight to us to get our drink order! I do not remember our waitresses name but she was so nice and helpful as this was our first time here. I ordered the Bacado omelette with a side of hollandaise sauce (chefs kiss), my boyfriend ordered the eggs Benny with mushrooms added (not pictured) and my 6 yo opted for the cheese pizza. All were delicious and came out in a fair amount of time. The adults also ordered the mimosa bar, I picked guava (yum!!) They also have a HUGE selection of desserts in the front case as you walk in. This place is off the hook! I had the chicken piccata with the garlic bread. Nice Al dente noodles with a fantastic lemon caper sauce. Perfectly done and a nice portion. This was served with a green salad that could have used some cucumber or tomato to go with the fresh greens and carrot shavings to complement the plate. Wife had the hearty minestrone soup bowl and came with some very nice fresh bread. We were planning on having late brunch at a restaurant in Carmel, but decided to come to Monterey instead because of parking and long wait times. My girlfriend chose this place not realizing we passed this place plenty of times on our past Monterey trips! Luckily she did choose this restaurant because it had some of the best tasting food! We went around 1 PM on Memorial Day weekend, but we got seated immediately. I got the Hot Beef, my girlfriend got the Italian Omelette, and we just shared a Cinnamon French Toast. I don't think it was my hunger talking, but the first bite of the mashed potatoes blew my mind! They were super soft and creamy and the gravy wasn't overwhelming either. The roast beef was really tasty as well while the toast was pretty forgettable to me. The carrots were pretty mushy as well, but it paired well with the other things so I didn't mind at all. I also tried a bite of the Italian Omelette. I'm not the biggest fan of breakfast foods or eggs by themselves, so you can take this with a grain of salt. It might have been the best omelette I've ever had, and I know it's wasn't the hunger talking to me since I already ate some of my plate. It tasted like someone threw some pasta into an egg which is exactly what I love about it. The sausages were great too, but I couldn't eat more than one by the end because of how full I was. The potatoes were amazing too. They were crispy yet soft and not even too salty or anything. The french toast was pretty great nothing too mind blowing. I think the star "dessert" we had was the bread and jam that came with the Italian Omelette. Overall great restaurant will definitely make it a must go anytime we're in the area! read more

We waited forever for dinner, they forgot our salads, and did nothing to apologize for the mistake. No credit to the bill, no offer of a slice of cake. Not even a sorry. We arrived a little late to our reservation and they accommodated us with no problem (that's always appreciated). Our meals were amazing and my partner is GF so he was thrilled they could substitute the bread option to a GF one. My club sandwich was HUGE and very tasty. The cherry on top was the service from the second we checked in to walking out the door - absolutely fabulous! Our server, Sally, could quite honestly be one of the best servers we have ever had (and we dine out way too much honestly so we see a lot of them). Sally is kind and very knowledgeable about their menu and options. She smiled each time she arrived to the table. Once we were 2nd in line we started walking to the restaurant and we're seated right away. Rosine's was featured on Triple D ( the foodies who know, know), so I know my man Guy wouldn't let me down. Our server was so upbeat and peppy, and she got our orders in right away. We ordered: Colorado Scramble, breakfast potatoe skins, kids pancakes, and a Bloody Mary-we also got some desserts: Bananas Foster cake, chocolate cake, and chocolate cake, and a chocolate walnut cookie.
