    Hearty Beef Minestrone Soup (Cup)
    Alex L.

Stopped by Rosine's Restaurant while visiting Monterey. The service was great throughout the meal, and it's easy to see why this place is so popular with both locals and tourists. We started with a cup of their famous minestrone soup, which was solid. It was hearty and comforting. For the entrée, I ordered the lasagna with meatballs. Unfortunately, it was just okay. The lasagna itself wasn't bad, but it just tasted like your average lasgna. The bigger disappointment was the meatballs. They were cold, not tender, and lacked seasoning. The highlight of the meal was the Lemon Blueberry Cake. This dessert was absolutely divine. It was light, moist, and not overly sweet. The balance between the lemon and blueberry was excellent. After a fairly average entrée, the cake completely saved the meal and ended things on a high note. Overall, I enjoyed the experience thanks to the friendly service and an outstanding dessert.

This review is just for the cakes. Oh my! They're soo delicious! We got 4 slices and they're huge!!! Very moist and flavorful. The Black Forest cake was very good. The strawberry one was a classic. And the banana walnut was the favorite. We also got the chocolate and very decadent and every chocolate loves dream.

We were able to get a last minute reservation at this place for our anniversary dinner, and I am so happy we did! They had plenty of patio seating so we were able to bring our dog with us to join in on the fun. I ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo, and it was delicious. I personally love when my pasta has so much cheese so this place did not disappoint. The portion itself was huge and with 4 prices of garlic bread I knew there was no way I could finish my whole plate. The food came out hot and tasted like warm, delicious comfort food. My husband ordered the burger and he said it was very good. Not pictured here (since I got too excited and started eating before taking a picture) is the chocolate wafer cake we ordered. I have to say this was the star of the show. I am not a big cake person but this cake was something else. The chocolate whipped frosting was so light and not too sweet. The cake itself was very tasty not too dry and not too dense. The Kit Kat "wafers" added the perfect texture of crunch in every bite.

Celebrated our friend's bday here today which happens to be Memorial Day. I took the initiative to reserve a table as I know it'll be super busy. And boy I was right! The place is full of patrons and tourists. We were seated 4 minutes upon arrival. We all love this place and all our foods came Out to our liking. But for the highlight of our visit today is the exemplary service that Shelly has given us. From start to finish it was amazing. She was a sport as to our jokes and conversations. And she made us laughed so hard. It was a bright addition to our celebration today. Thank you so much Shelley or Martha for making our day super fun! You're awesome!!!

Everything is very good here. The location, easy parking, the food, the service - we had a very nice time. I got the salmon Florentine eggs Benedict - wow! The salmon fillet was huge, the eggs poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was divine. Only compliant is I couldn't finish it as it was so much food. Good problem, really. Hubby got the calamari steak sandwich. This is a beautiful 'piece of meat' breaded and fried - absolutely delicious. Having a breaded steak between two pieces of bread was redundant - so we sliced the steak into ribbons and simply ate as an appetizer, dipping the slices in the best tartar sauce I have ever had. We cannot wait to come back - but will only order one entree because they are so big (not complaining).

7/13/25 Zach and I decided to get brunch at Rosine's before heading back home. Since we had Coco, we requested an outdoor table. There was plenty of outdoor seating, but the tables and the seats were covered with lots of bird poo. We chose the table with the least amount of bird poo, but maybe the restaurant should try to clean the outdoor tables and chairs every now and then...our host didn't seem bothered by it which we thought was weird. Here's what we got: - Crab avocado benedict (mine) - Crispy hot chicken sandwich with onion rings (his) We waited about 15 minutes for the food to come out. Of the two plates, the crab benedict was actually good. The chicken was advertised as hot and crispy, but it was neither of those two unfortunately. The chicken was pretty bland and unappetizing. The onion rings were mediocre. Overall it was an okay brunch. It was a convenient spot since our hotel was nearby.

Service is always efficient and friendly. The pasta with meat sauce was delicious though slightly salty. Generous portions. Calamari now comes with French fries. Can be somewhat noisy but the dining room is fairly spacious. They have a few tables that boarder the outside dining patio which seem great for California dining especially with pleasant weather. Their cake display is well known and nearly everything in it is delicious- give tried nearly all of them and they never disappoint. Save room for dessert or take some home.

    Chocolate Truffle cake, Yummy!

The service was good and the restaurant was clean. We came here for breakfast while in Monterey since it was visited by 3 D's back in the day. It was an average American breakfast. I was actually looking forward to having cake since it was my birthday weekend. I had the chocolate truffle cake and it didn't disappoint. I wanted something that wasn't too rich and this hit the spot. It wasn't too sweet, not too chocolaty, and the serving size was huge. Guy Fieri reviewed their lunch items and I would come back just to try them.

We had a taste for Clam Chowder after walking down to the Cannery and Aquarium but wanted to try some near where we were staying and already tried some on the Fishermans wharf on our previous visit here in Monterey. Looked on Yelp and Rosine's came up. Easy walk from where we were and excited to try it after reading reviews by others. Well what wasn't mentioned in the reviews or on their menu is that Clam Chowder is only served on Fridays . We found this out after we were seated and served something to drink, now we are disappointed but didn't want leave because couldn't find anywhere else close by that served Clam Chowder other than places on Fishermans Wharf. So we tried the calamari steak sandwich but ordered it on grilled sourdough rather than the French roll It is normally served on. Came with sweet potato fries as an option. Sandwich was good but sweet potato fries were kind of rubbery. The salad was good with plenty of chicken in it and very tasty honey mustard dressing. Menu had a lot of options including some delicious looking humongous layer cakes for Il dolce. Our serve was friendly and accommodating on the bread change for the sandwich, prices were reasonable and it looked like they offer a full bar menu. Bright and simple dining room part of the old architecture of downtown Monterey, with outside dining as well. We enjoyed our meal but really wanted the Clam Chowder, I really thought that being a coastal fishing town that Clam Chowder would be a daily dish everywhere and not just on the wharf. Oh well.... Rosines we will have to return to try your Clam Chowder, maybe next time on a Friday. Bon Appetitto

One of my favorite eateries in Monterey. The place is always packed with happy customers. Those mile high cakes are what keep me going back. Nothing like them anyplace else. And the food is always delicious, no matter what you order. Highly recommend.

    Loaded Potato Skins
    Connie C.

Depending on the time of day, Rosine's can get packed so it's best if you're approaching feeding time to stop in first. The waitresses that helped us were friendly and had some good recommendations. Food: Potato skins were good, happy they put the pico de gallo on the side. Potato and bacon were crispy. Lasagna - it has a nice meat:cheese ratio. I read reviews that it was salty & I thought it was seasoned well. The sauce was balanced. Porcini ravioli - this was the meh factor. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. It was lacking a sauce. Garlic bread was good all around. Pricing is reasonable for the area. The outside patio area was perfect for the family and dog. They even brought out fresh water in a bowl!

Had a family dinner here while visiting Monterey. This was a place that we saw on yelp but was also recommended by our hotel staff. We made reservations and we're seated right on time. The menu is varied with chicken, fish, meat, pasta, salad, salads, and more. They even have a kids menu which makes this place family friendly. They have cocktails and wine and beer. We had paper planes and martinis which were hreat and filled to the brim. We were able to make slight substitutions on Service was fast, portions are ample. The chicken piccata was done exceptionally well. Even though we were stuffed, we had to have a piece of their huge cakes. We chose the cookie batter cake, which has a biscotti cookie on top. Five of us ate it and all of us enjoyed it. We couldn't even finish it between the five of us. Highly recommend this place. We were so busy diving into our food. I didn't get pictures, but I did manage to grab a picture of this huge piece of cake that fed five of us with leftovers.

    Choclate Peanut Butter Cake
    Devin M.

10/10 Definitely the best cakes I've ever had! If you're craving a truly good cake, this is the place to go. Every slice was amazing, well-filled, and clearly made with care. We started with the Chocolate Coconut Cake, and wow highly recommend. If you love Almond Joys, this cake is a must. It has the perfect amount of coconut shavings, almonds, and rich chocolate. Sweet without being overwhelming, incredibly satisfying, and super moist with a generous amount of filling. Absolute standout. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake was also very good. If you're a Reese's fan, this one's for you. Topped with Reese's pieces, peanuts, and a peanut butter drizzle, very indulgent. As a peanut butter lover, I definitely wished there were even more peanuts, but that's just me! The filling was good, though not as generous as the coconut cake, and the cake itself was slightly on the drier side, but still tasty and worth ordering. Overall, an amazing experience. I'll definitely be back to try all the other cakes in the future!

We headed to The Butter House on Fremont Blvd, in Seaside. The parking at this lot was substantial as they share a lot with a few other businesses-so that was great. When we arrived it was a large room with many customers. There was no wait for our party of 6 due to the size of the restaurant with many tables in the room. Once I took a look at their menu,I was a bit overwhelmed with the sheer volume of choices but I decided to try something I would truly love,as I'm not overly familiar with Filipino breakfast items, but what Ive had so far I've truly loved. I went with Marciana's Breakfast Fried Rice ($16.50) and a single lumpia($3.05) The lumpia was just super delicious-it featured ground beef, onions, carrots, green beans, bean sprouts, and was served with a sweet chili sauce on the side. It's a great item,as many in my group ordered them and some even ordered extra to bring home. Now the fried rice dish featured butter fried rice with bacon, sausage,& ham,It also included soy sauce, onions, garlic and topped with two eggs served over-hard. I loved this dish so much that it's irritating. I'm irritated because I know this menu is full of banger items too, but I may never find out because I can't imagine ordering anything else--that's how much I enjoyed this dish In closing, if you ever find yourself in the Monterey area and want to try an awesome Filipino breakfast--get down to The Butter House-their quality is super high.

Conspiracies aside, the food was awful. I just don't get how this many people could share amazing post after amazing post and jive that with my in person experience. We ordered the corned beef hash. It needed salt. How?!!! Plus they basically only used beef and potato?! The menu said it had peppers and onion so when we asked, they brought some out on the side?!! Terrible. I mean it made it taste a little better but it was still not good. Then, the "lumpia" was more like an oil soggy egg roll. Too oily to even eat because literally it was dripping oil. So gross. Clearly someone not from the lumpia making culture made these. I do not recommend this place at all. Even the coffee was terrible. Only saving grace and the second star comes from the fresh squeezed orange juice. Delicious but come on ... smh ... does not save this place at all. Sorry, I really wanted to like this but this was my experience. Hopefully it was just a weird day.

Maybe add a little more next time just to balance it off. The servers/bartenders knew their stuff. They provided what they could in terms of what was popular and well liked. The fun artwork and paintings throughout the restaurant added so much personality and made the space even more enjoyable. We started with the duck pâté and bread. The sauce complemented the octopus beautifully. The octopus itself was incredibly tender and soft -- not chewy at all -- and honestly reminded me of some amazing octopus I had while visiting Portugal. The mussels came in a very generous portion, and the tomato sauce was so good you could drink it by itself. For our mains, we had the sea scallops and the seared tuna, and both dishes were excellent. Everything tasted fresh, thoughtful, and well executed. The coffee and tea cups were the Bodum brand, great quality, double-lined, and they kept the drinks warm while still being comfortable to hold. The inside has a rustic, laid-back vibe to it. Our waiter was attentive and nice - he did forget our two glasses of wine until we reminded him when our entrees came out. They did comp the wines at the end though, which was nice. As for food, we got the mussels and octopus to start. The mussels were cooked well and the broth was good. Liked the sourdough accompaniment a lot, especially dipped in the sauce/broth. The octopus was very interesting as well with the black bean honey sauce. Sweet yet had a sort of earthy/nuttiness to it. It had a very Asian influence to it, compared to the typical Italian or Greek method of preparing octopus. For entrees we got the seared duck breast and sea scallops. Scallops were a tad salty but were cooked well and had a buttery taste. I appreciated all the veggies it came with and made the dish very clean-tasting. Duck breast was very soft and easy to cut. Polenta was cooked well too and the chard gave a nice touch of green to the dish. The entire dish felt very comforting. We finished off with the apple cake and chocolate pot. Both were tasty, although the apple cake was a bit better. I enjoyed the ice cream and the cake had crispy edges and soft inside. Chocolate pot was smooth and easy to eat, and wasn't overly rich.

It was served with a fresh green salad and perfectly cooked French fries which were crispy on the outside and pillowy-soft on the inside. Everything was delicious. Their Cobb Salad was plentiful with avocado, bacon chunks, hard-boiled eggs, turkey, tomatoes topped with blue cheese sprinkles over a bed of lettuce. I opted for ranch dressing on the side. One could taste how fresh all the ingredients were. Presentation perfect. The staff was extremely warm & friendly and attentive yet not imposing.

The French dip was one of the best I've had, especially because of the au jus--you could taste the authenticity. The same goes for the sausage sandwich. You can just tell many of the dishes are made in-house. Family photos are throughout the restaurant, and it's clear this is a family-owned business. The same people in the photos are the ones behind the counter, working hard and serving the holiday crowd with kindness. The food felt so homestyle and delicious that we came back for breakfast the next morning. We'll definitely be returning the next time we're back in PG.

Yet the ambiance, service, and food are very good! I love the various aspects of the decor, as well. Other than parking challenges on a busy night in the downtown, we were lucky to get a table for 5 relatively quickly, as this place isn't that large, with some additional bar seating, and it seems very popular. 5:30 was a great time, as we watched the waiting line grow longer after we were seated. Our server, Michael J., did a great job of greeting us, providing menus, and taking initial drink orders while we decided what to try. We decided to try BBQ honey wings, fried artichoke hearts, and onion rings for appetizers. The main courses were two orders of kids' cheese pizza and tater tots, a small dinner salad, a cup of New England-style clam chowder, and a NY Steak sandwich. The food came in a reasonable time, with appetizers and salad first, then the rest. The apps were good, but the onion rings were a bit greasy. The honey wings were well-liked, as well as the artichoke hearts, which, strangely, were not oily like the onion rings. Yummy! The cheese pizzas paired with tater tots were certainly different, but the pizza was more like a reheated frozen pizza. The tots were okay. The NY Steak sandwich was good as well, with a side of steak fries - obviously! Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would definitely consider dining here in the future when in town.
