Not sure if this was normal. I was inconvenienced with trying on a shirt. I found the fitting room is actually a storage room. The actual fitting room is a little further towards the front. I bought a few clearance items from the men's section. The prices on price tags were more than I paid at the Houston store. But when I rang them up, the prices became the same. Except for the shocking 10.75% tax. I'll be back to get some more things during my Bay Area visit. I'll probably buy groceries to avoid paying tax.

A week ago every item of one of the food products I wanted was expired by two weeks. That was pretty bad but I let it go and figured I'd just pick it up the next week. When I came back a week later all the same expired items were still there. Not acceptable. I let an employee know and they said "oh sorry". This is not an isolated incident. We find expired items often. They've also been out of paper bags the last two weeks. They haven't put up any signs or anything to give customers a heads up, so when I approached the register last week with my full cart I had no choice but to buy more of their reusable bags because I had forgotten mine at home. A week later they were still out of paper bags. I brought my own, but still no heads up until after I had unloaded my cart at the register. I mentioned to the cashier that they were out of bags the week before as well and she didn't know what I was talking about. They also seem to no longer help people bag their groceries. They will scan all your items and then just watch you pack them up, or they just start scanning the next customers items and mixing their stuff with your own items. This backs up the line at the register and makes everything go slower. Today while I packed my bags and the employee at the register stood there watching me, I asked if they had a new policy to no longer assist with bagging the groceries. I thought perhaps it was a holdover from COVID which would have made some sense. The employee said "Oh...uh..." and helped put the last two items in a bag, but did not answer my question. There was another recent incident when a manager came to the cashier and told them they needed to take a break after they helped me (that's fine, workers deserve their breaks). The customer behind me had already unloaded their cart and asked "What about me". The manager just said "You'll need to move" and walked away without offering to help them do so. I've worked at Target myself and in roles with other retail companies. I understand the challenges placed on stores by the executive class and poorly behaved customers that makes good service more difficult than it aught to be. But this location underperforms in ways it should not.

Michaels has a vast inventory: art supplies, fabrics, yarns, knitting items, scrapbook materials, pearls, jewelry kits, balloons, party stuff. Long aisles, not cluttered. Lots of on sale items. Friendly, courteous staff when I see any. Lots of parking in lot. Biggest store in area. Need to come again after the holidays to look over the offerings slowly.

We stopped by on a trip as we were passing through and wanted to pick up some snacks. They did have quite a bit of produce, dairy, eggs, breads, cereal, meats, etc, but alas they didn't have the snacks we were looking for, namely chicharones which we eat like chips. I also noticed there weren't that much plants/vegetable seedling starts for sale compared to other GO's. Staff were mostly busy checking customers, but when I stopped a staff to ask for the chips section, he was friendly and pointed the way despite looking busy and on his way to getting something or taking care of some business. The store is on the small side and felt a bit cluttered even though it is organized. There's just not that much space and so some aisles looked kinda of random, with categories of items put together that don't go together that well, for example, having snacks in two different sections of the store. There was not much of a NOSH (natural organic stuff) aisle either, but for a smaller grocery store, it's not bad.

It created an uncomfortable situation that I believe should never be placed on a new hire.I had a very disappointing experience as a new employee at Lane Bryant in Normal, IL. From the beginning, I did not feel supported or welcomed. One of my biggest concerns was that managers asked new employees for money, which I found inappropriate and unprofessional. As a new employee, I also heard negative comments being made by people in management and others above me. The work environment was filled with back-and-forth disagreements and a lack of professionalism and respect between key holders, assistant managers, and store managers. Instead of working together as a team, there seemed to be ongoing conflict that created an uncomfortable atmosphere for employees. In addition, I arrived on time for my scheduled shifts but was still expected to wait for the store to be opened, even though I had done my part by arriving on time. I was also not given direct contact information for management or consistent follow-up. When I requested a manager's direct contact information or asked for additional support, my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. As a plus-size person myself, I know there are limited places to shop for clothing in my size. That makes this experience even more disappointing. Because of how I was treated as an employee, Lane Bryant has lost my future business. I also cannot recommend this store to others based on my experience. New employees deserve proper training, respectful communication, and support from management. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
