I was excited to try this restaurant as we had heard decent things. We were seated after only a short wait past our reservation time. Hostess was pleasant and efficient in handling a mild rush at the door. Server took a long time to acknowledge us, but was very pleasant when he got around to our table. Much after that was disappointing, particularly for this price point and this restaurant's relations to the Pomo group which we really like. First, the iced tea came out like light yellow water--reminiscent of, you know... When I asked the waiter if it was always like that, he said yes, the machine adds too much water. The best dish of the evening was the short rib pasta--flavorful, albeit a little salty. The roast chicken was average. The pork chop was overcooked and under seasoned except for an extreme amount of salt on top. I asked for some red sauce to try and cut the saltiness. They had the nerve to charge several dollars for a small ramekin--again, at this price point not appreciated. Not nearly worth the trip or the money. Stick to other Pomo spots. read more

BEWARE OF ANITA!!! she will give you terrible service but be sure to add on that 20% auto grad! myself and 4 of my other waitresses friends went out for dinner and drinks one night and we were so shocked at how Anita was treating us. she seemed very annoyed that we were there. and kept leaving the table before anyone had finished ordering. on-top of her terrible attitude i even got one of her hairs in my dinner. If I could give the service staff from the host stand all the way through dinner service and bartenders 5 stars but the food 1 star..... I would. The 1 star is 100% for the food. I'm not a picky eater, rarely ever complain or post reviews but I couldn't let this one go. It was close to inedible. Appetizer, caprese salad. A few paper thin tomatoes with mozzarella, but the pesto was so salty you couldn't eat it. The short rib and pasta was so salty, again, couldn't really eat it. The pasta was complete rubber. The NY Strip was ordered medium rare, came out well done (gray). Potato wedges were so overcooked they were almost burned. Again, so salty you could barely eat it. They put a pile of rock salt beside the steak as....garnish. We tried each others dishes to make sure it wasn't "must just be me" and it wasn't. The kitchen needs some help. The service was great and the atmosphere on the patio was wonderful. This place has so much potential. The cooks are struggling. Go somewhere else. Our bill was $114 for two (before tip) and that was easily $85 more than that meal was worth. Maybe the saving grace is that if you go on a non-concert or non-event night, the kitchen isn't overwhelmed and it's way better. read more

We were in Phoenix for a convention in early October, so we decided to try Rosso's. The veal piccata was very good, as was the lasagna. I ordered a seafood pasta dish. The sauce was very tasty, unfortunately the seafood was over cooked. Other than that, it was a pretty good place. read more

Complete rip off, very mediocre experience. The food was decent but the overall experience was not worth the money. When the food arrived the food runner warned me "this plate is super hot watch out" but then instead of putting it down in front of me, basically dropped it into my hands. The plate was SO hot and he just left me to deal with it, almost dumping the boiling pasta in my lap. The kitchen staff actually witnessed this through their window and called out to ask if I was okay. After burning the hell out of my hands, they decided to also burn a hole in my wallet - my Diet Coke was $5 and they charged me for each refill with no warning... I don't want to seem like I'm exaggerating.. but this is the best Italian food I have ever eaten in my life. During my stay in DTPHX we ate here 4 times within 2 days. I loved everything I ate. I had the Caesar salad with shrimp 3 times.. it was very consistent and delicious every single time. I also tried the chicken panini with pesto for lunch (my favorite item I tried).. and the gnocchi pesto pasta with prosciutto which didn't look like much but was so filling and flavorful! This was our second visit to this particular restaurant. I don't even remember how we found it to begin with, but the first experience was amazing. We made it downtown early for a baseball game and decided to get dinner first. I couldn't remember the name of the place, but I knew where to find it. Again, it did not disappoint, leading me to believe that my first experience was not a fluke. Tonight we sat at the bar. There was an upbeat vibe to the place. Several bartenders were making gorgeous cocktails and the bar top soon was full. I had a basic glass of Sangiovese wine, which was good. My husband had the Galliano Old Fashioned. WOW, what a great cocktail!! It was so unique and delicious that I almost ordered one for myself. We had the focaccia bread as an appetizer. The pesto dipping sauce was so fresh and fragrant. My braised short ribs and polenta was rich and filling. My husband had the gnocchi which was superb. The portions were generous; the wait staff were so attentive and friendly. This is now hands down my favorite Italian restaurant. The service is excellent, the presentation is immaculate, and the food is phenomenal. We ordered Tagliatelle Short Rib and the Gnocchi Burrata. I can't pick a favorite because they were wonderful in such different ways. I can't remember the name of the desert, but it was Limoncello with merengue, caramel and basil. It was unreal. They ran out of tagliatelle pasta for the tagliatelle short rib pasta, the flavor was just "ok" nothing special and especially nothing related to the price. The food here was great. I know it's a Pomo restaurant and the menu is similar, but the pasta and appetizers are better. I cannot quite explain why, but it's true. It's perfectly cooked and the acidity from the tomatoes in the sauce is balanced. The mushrooms in the sauce were nicely caramelized. We had four people and we each got something different. That gave us a great sampling!! The server and at least one guy in the kitchen were Italian. Fabio, our server, had an accent that melts the ladies and Michael, who made the cheesecake, was gorgeous. It was like sitting in a sauna. Our drinks were not speedy. Half of the group got multiple rounds while the other half was waiting.. and waiting... and waiting. It wasn't only the drinks that took forever but also the food. 4 of the people in our group didn't get their food until AFTER everyone else had finished. The zucchini chips were a dark grey color and tasted like chalk. We let the manager know our distaste with the service/speed. Great food, but the restaurant is uncomfortably HOT! I read another review that commented on it being hot several months prior and how he left sweating and the manager commented that they'd work on getting it right. Well guess what? Patrons are still sweating and uncomfortable! People all around us were using their menus as fans! Is the manager trying to save on electricity costs? Doesn't make sense to set the AC to what felt like 83 degrees when it is jam packed with people making it feel even hotter. The food was good, but we couldn't enjoy it while we were sweating over our meals. We won't return.....at least not during the summer! read more
