I was enrolled in their preferred customer program. They missed two repair appointments for our AC unit that was down from May through the end of July. When they scheduled the second appointment they understood I would need to rearrange travel home from my daughter's wedding. They promised they had the part and would be there and understood my situation. They called at the time they were supposed to arrive to cancel because part was larger than expected. I was unable to get a call from a manager but after 4 days spoke to a customer satisfaction representative. They would not discount my invoice for the missed appointments but admitted they charge customers $90 for a missed appointment. Very poor customer service. So we woke up to two dead sump pumps and a basement accumulating water so we called Roth. I will say this review is 100% on the quote they gave us. Two dead pumps to be replaced, no plumbing work or clean up (we would clean up), $6000!!!! After pricing pumps and giving some slop for parts etc I came up with $900 and an afternoon of time. Not sure where the other $5100 was coming in. The tech also slipped a comment that was just telling. He said something to the effect of 'prices went up during pandemic and never got lowered because people were paying'!! Wow, just tell on yourself that you're purposely screwing people. I would do zero star if there is one!!! I have not come across a company with such low integrity. I am a realtor and my client came across Roth as one of the contractors that service the area to do HVAC maintenance service. My client hired them to look at their HVAC system on two of their homes. One home has a AC 30 year old so my client were told not worth servicing and replacing it would be $17-$20k~~ The other home system is only about 10 year old and Roth told me client it has gas leak everywhere and was found from every vent registers and can't be repaired. They even came up with some reading machine to show high level of CO. Needless to say another replacement was recommended. My client freaked out and called me immediately cause the home was bought less than a year ago. So we got other opinions and had NW Nature out to check on things. NW Gas reading was no problem and no leakage at all! I just can't believe all the tricks they would use to customers in order to up-sale~ how are the still in business~~ read more

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE ROTH!!!! About 5 months ago we scheduled a HVAC tuneup before all the warm weather hit us. Shortly after this tuneup was complete and we entered into our summer our cooling did not work at all. It was a much bigger issue with our HVAC system which honestly should have been found with this "tuneup". We were without cooling for 2 weeks and had to pay a lot more to Roth to have them fix something that should have been found in the first place. We cancelled our monthly membership with them and found a new company to do our furnace tuneup before the fall hit. During this inspection I was showed how the wire that offers power to our furnace was disconnected and had black tape on the end. We had no issues with our furnace last winter and the only people to service our system up until then was Roth. Not only do I find this tactic untrustworthy and manipulative but just bad business. Roth is a deceitful company that has their workers earn commission and will seem to sabotage your home so they get another service call and charge you. We will never use, trust, or refer Roth to anyone. read more

I contacted Roth Home to schedule a check of our AC, prior to the summer heat arriving. The lady on the phone was great, and was able to get me on the schedule for the following day, which happened to be a Sunday. This was great news and a welcome surprise. The technician arrived on time and was very polite and professional. Nikki Kadwell! Nikki was an absolute pleasure to have as a Technician. He was one of the most communicative technicians that I've had in my home. He kept me informed every step of the way and always made sure that I had all the information (that I could understand) that I needed, to make an informed decision regarding my Heating/Cooling system. As a tradesman myself, I always enjoy the opportunity to speak with members of other trades. Nikki is a great representative of the Roth Home and the HVAC trade in general. I paid Roth to replace my furnace and AC (which worked just fine but were at the end of their service life), and within a few days, it stopped working overnight. After calling the office at 8am, they didn't place any urgency on the issue, and offered to send someone out by 1pm. By 2pm, nobody had arrived, and nobody called to let me know about a delay, so I had to call them again to complain. By 3pm, someone finally made it back to the house and they needed to fix some of the (apparently substandard) installation work. I wouldn't do business with them again. read more

No complaints about the service but i recommend asking for cost of materials needed and cost of labor. Pretty sure was overcharged. I recently had a routine HVAC tuneup that seemed to go fine. The technician was personable, seemed knowledgeable, and took the time to explain to me what I might need in the future. However, the next day I discovered that there were holes drilled in the sheet metal on my furnace. While I don't know for sure, I am guessing that they were to enable the technician to use some sort of camera device. The holes were covered with duct tape, one piece of which looked like it had been used elsewhere before. I am certainly not happy that they drilled into my unit without letting me know. I would not have approved. I know for a fact that the cover on the blower unit is removable, as Roth repaired it several years ago. Later that day I received a text asking me if everything was OK. I responded by explaining that I was unhappy with the holes. I didn't receive a response until the next day when I got a text asking me if I was ready to move ahead with the estimates provided by the technician. Mind you, even the technician wasn't pushing for an immediate response, as the issues were not all that pressing at this time. With the receipt of the second text I realized that "Samantha" is a bot, a marketing bot. That has infuriated me. As a result I will no longer recommend or use Roth. read more

My technician was very good. It's just the fact I'm pretty sure theres a charge that shouldn't be almost $200 fee. It says if they enter the crawl space when he never went under my house he stayed outside the whole time. Like I said don't get me wrong. I booked them for a simple electrical wire job. I put out a request on yelp with EXACTLY what needed to be done. They responded that they would be happy to help and took my CC info and said they had availability the very next day. I took the day off work to be home for them to complete the job. They called me a couple hours prior to when the electrician was supposed to be there and cancelled claiming they don't work with low voltage wires. I told them exactly what needed to be done from the beginning, THEY reached out to me about the job, there was no new revelation. They just canceled, and blew off the job. read more

Company at this juncture appears to be a bit dishonest, we had a system put in several years ago and about a year after putting it in they were trying to upsell a larger system " upgrade", the system was practically new. Then recently they did over $500 of work they said needed done, then two months later said both our air conditioner and furnace were "leaking oil" and needed to be replaced with anew furnace and air conditioner. After having two other companies inspect and bid on new systems both said our systems were fine for a couple more years at least. We also gave Roth ho.e another chance to bid and they came back with bids that " this price is only good for the discount if you commit to it by the end of the week". Jason came out to give an estimate and consultation when our kitchen water pressure dropped to a near trickle. He said he'd start with the simplest possible fix first. Found the problem was rubber pieces in the faucet hose and issue was quickly resolved! Got an estimate if things need replaced in near future. We are happily surprised it wasn't more complicated or costly. He did a great job and clearly knows his stuff. read more

They showed up on time and did a review of the job then went to their car to write up an estimate to install a 240V line so we could get an induction stove. The estimate was a one-line statement supporting their quote of $2500. No listiing of parts and their cost, nor any listing of the time and number of workers to install the parts and complete the job. When I ased for more detail, they said the parts would cost about $200 and made no mention of the labor breakdown. In other words, their estimate was a complete joke and totally unprofessional. Roth charged me $3,800 to replace the blower motors that started making a loud clicking in all three heat pump heads they installed incorrectly in 2019. The Portland permit office denyed their installation as it was not up to the manufacturers requirements. They had to come back out three weeks later to reinstall all three head units. Four years later in 2023 all three units started making horrible sounds that made them unusable. I called and they sent someone out. They agreed to cover the part under warranty but they refuse to agree that their incorrect installation caused this motors to stop working at a fraction of their expected lifetime of 10 years. Roth charged just over $1,200 in labor per blower motor. This replacement work is a one to two hour job per motor. They charged me the equivalent of $879/hr. I could only afford one at the time and had to schedule the other two to today in 2024. This is criminal overcharging and includes the "discount" from being enrolled in their $30/month maintenance program. The installers are all very friendly but their greedy management completely ruin any chance at a mutual business relationship due to their price gouging. I recommend you STAY AWAY before you get handcuffed by their strict warranty requirements and exuberant maintenance fees. read more

We had a water pipe burst and Craig came quickly and fixed it! Roth was easy to schedule; they were up front and honest about the problem and gave us a quote on the spot, as well as rapidly fixed the problem. I really could not ask for more. As always, the problem is bigger than it seemed at the beginning (due to water heater issues not anything else) and we've had to call them back twice. Will A came out two times so far and was excellent. He solved the first problem in two minutes and was so flexible while we felt the chaos continued and the third time they came out (as the demo on the room started) he had to repair even more piping and did an excellent job. I'm grateful we've found someone we trust who can do such a great job, efficiently and expediently. read more

Recently moved to a home in near Portland Or. The house had a furnace system, their "house brand", sold and installed by Roth Heating and Cooling.The system, only 12 years old, failed over our stormy and cold weekend. Called for service, had to wait 3 days for someone to show up. Tech got the system working, but it failed again that night. Left word that problem remained, never heard back. Finally called again and after much persuading, they sent another tech, who seemed attentive and competent. So I signed up for their maintenance program, which promised priority service. Well here I am on Thursday, again with a broken furnace, and no promise from them for a service call either tonight or tomorrow. I also had them bid to replace a unit in my home, price is double that of their competitors. Update: Four total service calls (final 2 calls at no cost, to give them credit), but a waste of $300. And furnace still failing every night. Replaced furnace with another company for less than half price of Roth quotes. Don't waste your time or money on these guys. They have even blocked comments on their their social media, so not possible to warn others away, thus my post here. read more

Roth Plumbing employs unethical business practices by taking advantage of customers with limited plumbing knowledge. They claimed our 4-year-old Gerber toilets were of poor quality and that parts were unobtainable. They recommended replacing all three toilets with American Standard models for $3,600. A second opinion revealed that only a $17 flapper replacement per toilet was needed. read more

They are not trustworthy and I totally feel taking advantage of, if you have the option go anywhere else. I recently bought a condo and had the unfortunate luck of having my furnace and A/C unit go out. I initially went with another company to replace the furnace as that was determined to be the initial problem. That company seemed inexperienced and unprofessional damage my walls and staining the carpet. When they said my A/C unit needed to be replaced I decided to look into other options to ensure this was actually the case. I called Roth who seemed far more experienced and professional. They confirmed my A/C unit needed to be replaced and provided an estimate double what the other company did. I asked about other options but they stated this was the only unit they had that would work for my unit. Just wanting the problem to be fixed right the first time and trusting presentation of Roth's representative I went with them. The A/C unit they ended up installing was enormous. It looked like it was meant for a large grocery store or a stip mall. It was double the size of my neighboring units and of course my HOA was upset and demanded it be replaced. I informed Roth of the issue and they stated their representative had given me a free upgrade and they would replace the unit for me. When I pointed out the unit on my receipt and paperwork matched the unit that was installed, they denied this was the case. They refused to issue any sort of refund or discount. They did work with my HOA and installed a new unit that was half the size and far more appropriate looking. I was never issued any sort of refund or discount for the smaller unit, with the representative state the giant unit that was installed was a free upgrade. I 100% feel taken advantage of, and while Roth seems to know what they are doing, they also seem very willing to take advantage of the inexperience of their customers. I would recommend going with anyone else if you have the option. read more

We contacted Roth on a Saturday to reinstall two toilets. They replied right away and sent out a tech on Monday. The tech arrived on time. He took care of the job with the price quoted. We had an old toilet and he had to run out and get an additional supply line. However we were not charged extra for that. He also brought some shoe covers and used them as he went in and out of the house. Would use again. read more

Beware oI requested an electrical repair due to a service interruption impacting my garage and back yard outlets. The electrician who responded immediately identified the issue by locating a GFI outlet 3 feet from the circuit breaker box behind a shelf. He pressed the reset button and problem fixed within two minutes of arrival. Since I was paying for the service call anyway, I asked him about a problem concerning a periodic outage with my outside gazebo. He looked at it and thought it was shorting out between two outlets less than 10 feet apart. I requested that he fix it. He agreed to do it, but advised me that anything external (outside of the structure) was considered a Level 2 service call and that Roth had a "flat fee" policy for such a service. Although I heard the flat fee words, I was thinking a of a charge to my credit card ( to insure payment) from which the actual service charge would deducted. Not so. The electrician spent less than an hour stripping the wires to two outlets and reattaching them, then sealing the outlets with caulk to prevent water from entering the outlet covers and shorting the outlets. The flat fee cost exceeded $1000. I contacted Roth to seek an adjustment based on my misunderstanding of the flat fee policy. I suggested that $500 would be fair to them and serve as a lesson to me, as well as to result in a more positive customer relations resolution/experience. Two weeks and three calls later, a discount of $175 was offered and accepted, though I told them I would relay my experience in a review. My suggestion to Roth was that the electrician should have simply suggested that the repair might be simple so that I might make a more informed decision. It is clear to me that Roth cares more about their bottom line than customer satisfaction and a positive review. I will accurately reflect my experience with Roth and not recommend them to anyone. read more

Roth installed a mini split for us. At first we were excited, but that quickly faded. The unit was installed in the wrong place, but instead of disconnecting it and placing it correctly they just man handled it and in the process kinked the line. At the time we were told that the kink was not bad enough to cause any issues and for a few years things were fine. Eventually the unit did stop working despite service maintenance. After all the trouble we had with Roth we decided to have another company come look at it. Now we are being told the unit can't be worked on because of improper installation and has to be replaced. 2021 we had a furnace & heatpump installed. Everything was fine until I needed to service or maintenance the heat pump. Was told just for the service $199.00 per unit if I needed the repair a tech would have to come out & of course charge. I declined. Come to find out the 10 year warranty is only 5 yr due to Roth not registering the warranty so it'd be 10 yrs. The air compressor is bad so that's either replacement or new heatpump not thru Roth. We financed it we will be paying on a unit that we will no longer have in possession heatpump. They never offered to see about any rebates if your on a fixed income per energytrust of Oregon. Will be paying off the loan for years. I will never recommend for anyone on a budget to use their products or services. The warranty for parts was only for 2 years as the compressor needed replacement 3 years later. read more
