I requested an electrical inspection through Yelp via their projects page. While someone was messaging me on Yelp another person called me right away. That was the first sign. When I spoke with the person on the phone, the background sounded like a huge call center. That was the second sign. I booked the inspection that was to cost $35, then I waited for the other electricians to contact me and I read 3 Mountains reviews. That was the 3rd and final sign. June 24-25: Tosh messaged my father stating technicians would arrive in the afternoon on June 25. Instead, they arrived unannounced in the morning, waking up entire family. June 25: My father had to personally call HVAC technician just to confirm details of scheduled appointment due to lack of official updates/responses. June 25: Technicians called my Tigard tenant instead of my father, causing her to leave work unnecessarily. When questioned, technicians admitted they had no idea what was happening and simply called random number because they had "a bunch of numbers on file. June 25: The office called/messaged me demanding a deposit prior to the work, completely overlooking I had already opted for and secured a loan. June 26: No ETA update was provided for today's scheduled visit. June 26: I had requested some sort of a credit, but they declined. No negotiation at all, and they stated that they will be calling the team (that never arrived by the way) to halt their work and pack up. No official apology whatsoever either. I had a plumber from this company come over and instal a new faucet on an existing sink. It took him about 30 min to do a simple job. Then he tried to upsell me to buy a system to warm water into my warm outlet. I have a 3 gallon water heater under the sink that has worked fine to provide quick hot water for many years. He told me that these systems blow up and that I needed another system that would cost me over a thousand dollars. I said no. He then gave me an invoice for the 30 min job costing me $500. We were very disappointed with our recent experience. 3 Mountains had installed a new water heater a year ago and we were told to have an annual check up. We recently called to set up an annual inspection. After we had the appointment set, we were asked if we owned the house. we explained that we are the parents of the owner. They said they have to talk with the owner. I explained that the owner lived abroad and wouldn't be able to call. That ended their interest in our return business. I can understand their needing to talk with our daughter to install a new water heater but why is it necessary to talk with her to have it inspected. 3 Mountains uses AI to text with customers, without letting the customers know it is not a live representative. I was quoted (in writing) a price for an AC and furnace inspection / tune up. When the technician arrived, I was told the price would be $30 more than I was quoted. When I let him know I had a quoted price, and I wanted the company to honor that, he said it was probably the AI "assistant" that miscommunicated. I will not be using Three Mountains again. I'm sure it's no fault of the technician, Jose (he was friendly and informative), but the company uses sales tactics that are not on the up and up. UPDATE: The technician called the company, and was told to waive the charges for today's service. He apologized for the confusion caused by the AI "assistant" and the misquoted price. I appreciate Jose getting that figured out, but I will still not be using this company in the future. The texts and use of AI are confusing and misleading. read more

I'll spare you most of the gross details, but my house had a hole in the sewer line that was causing backups. Best we could tell, the hole was directly under the basement exterior wall making it a pretty big project (and, likely, bill). I had 3 Mountains Plumbing and another business come out to take a look and give me a bid for the repair work. Because the hole seemed to be directly under the wall, they both suggested digging from both sides - interior and exterior, in order to replace enough pipe to make sure that the hole was fully repaired. I was told it's about $1000 per foot to hand dig a hole from ground level down to below basement level where the pipe is. We were looking at around 5-7 feet of digging, right next to the gas and water utility lines. Great. While both bids came out to be about equal, I moved forward with 3 Mountains Plumbing. They seemed prepared to do the hard work and were able to work with me on cost a little bit. They also offer a 3-year warranty if anything were to go wrong with this again, they'll come out to see what's going on. They got me on the schedule quickly and the work was completed in one day - yes, that includes digging a 6 foot hole by hand. They didn't mind me popping by to gawk at the giant hole in my yard. They also brought a TON of trucks, it was funny to see the street covered in orange vans. They left everything tidy and they let me know I may need more dirt for the exterior as the dirt they re-filled it with settles. Their concrete partner came out about a week later to patch the interior. Overall, communication was thorough, work was done swiftly, and I believe it was done with quality as well. This company has excellent marketing, which they can afford based on how much they try and take advantage of their customers. If you read the one star reviews there is a common thread-- this company is gaming their quotes in hopes that people will just pay whatever they say and deal with it. We have had a whining toilet and leaking shower head for a few months and I wanted to get someone out to fix them. Three Mountains came out and assessed that we would need a new shower cartridge ($60 at the hardware store), a new tank fill valve for the toilet ($10 at the hardware store) and it would take 2 hours of work. Ok, should be around $200 or so, right? Not even close. Their quote is attached, which was for $860. What? When I asked numerous employees and managers how they calculate their rates, no one could tell me, but instead towed the line of saying, "we offer 'upfront pricing' before we do the work." I don't know what "upfront pricing" means, and neither do they. Every contractor I've worked with provides an upfront price. If I'm reading their business model correctly, they just try to get the customer to pay as much as possible, even to the point of gauging. Some customers walk away, while many just go ahead and pay whatever. I'd recommend at least getting a second opinion on whatever work you're needing. This company isn't worth it. read more

I've used 3 Mountains Plumbing several times in the past, but this most recent experience has inspired me to share. We recently contacted 3 mountains to repair a small water leak in the crawlspace under our house. The technician found the leak and recommended replacing 2 sections of corroded pipe in 2 side by side sections. Not wanting to have the little leak turn into a big problem, we had him make the repair. Now I will say, his work and craftsmanship was 5 star. He was friendly and personable and explained what he was doing and why. No issue there. My issue is with the price. $625 for each of the two sections on pipe and $1000 just to access them. My crawlspace is easily accessible from out spare room closet. Everything under the house has been cleaned. Not sure the logic on this one. They are very big on upsell and a whole house re-pipe was suggested. They made the same recommendation on my old house to resolve an issue that ultimately they had created. A couple days after the service I called 3 mountains and was told a manager would call me to discuss my concerns in the next day. Never heard from them. At that point they had my money. Why should they care. Ultimately, if you want top notch service, give them a call. But understand that you'll pay a premium, non negotiable price. I doubt I'll use them again after this. read more

Been without water since Friday when they made the nebulous but common commitment to be here today, Monday between 8 and 12. So, took the day off work. Wife is not bed ridden, but an invalid. No running water since Friday. Then, at 9:29 a.m this morning, wife gets text saying plumber won't be here until late afternoon. Obviously gave the guy other job(s) to work his way out to us or sudden under staffing. Miserable trying to keep her clean and us fed without running water. I called my parents (single mom) about the proposed cost of the disposals they carry and they carry and they were shocked at how overpriced their options were. My dad started blasting me with all the well reviewed quality disposals at a quarter of the cost. But back to the technician - top notch. Service requested- Ultimately I received the requested service at the quoted price. Quality- remains to be seen. They showed up to tune up a functioning furnace. A part failed when they were working on it. They got it running again, but I'm not very confident in the work. See Tech Service comments below. Customer service- The people on the phones were very nice and helpful. Tech Service- The first tech was friendly enough, but seemed to be out of his comfort with our older furnace. After spending about an hour on it, he called for backup. The second tech was not at all friendly. He was gruff and basically told me that the furnace was broken and he didn't think he could fix it. Nor did he try to provide details or offer any reassurance that they'd get it running. I called to speak to a manager, who wouldn't take or return my calls. So service experience was generally negative. But they did stick around, and after 3 hours they got it running, and I was not asked to pay more than what was quoted. So they might be good, but this was not a good experience. read more

I really did favor this company until one of their plumbers made a really terrible decision and we have now switched to a private plumber to assist us with our plumbing issues. Awhile ago I called 3 Mountains Home Services to fix a clogged drain. The technician came out and fixed the clog but he contacted a second plumber who informed us of an installation issue and noticed the amount of mold located in the laundry room that shared space with our water heater. I had the funds to replace it but in order to fulfill the installation we were informed we had to remodel the room, removing the mold and further fix the flooring as well. The estimate for the job was over $20k not including the waterheater and installation which was separate and I put down about $1700. This plumber suggested I contact my home owners insurance and lie that I'd just found the excessive mold and didn't know where it came from alluding to my own ignorance and see if they'd pick up the tab. So after discussing it further with professionals in the construction field and recognizing insurance fraud was a terrible idea, we cancelled the claim and sat on the repair. 3 Mountains was RELENTLESS trying to call me - 2 or 3 times a day until I told them TO STOP CALLING ME. The same with the company they'd hired to test if we had asbestos which I blocked their number which bordered on harassment. 3 Mountains Home Services went ahead and refunded my money without me asking which I give them a star for that effort. Now I just have to figure out to cancel their $20/month fee for electrical services I can't use because they don't work on travel trailers. Use them at your own risk. Stand your ground and if ANYONE suggests insurance fraud do not take that advice. read more

Then they called and said plumber on still on first job coming mid afternoon at 5:30pm I called 3 mountain home services back I was told plumber still on first job and might get to my house around 7:30pm that night. So I decided to reschedule no available appointments on Friday they have customers without water for days well I have no water in my kitchen for days, anyway scheduled me for Monday from 8:30am-9:30 at 8:45am I called I had to wait for dispatch to call me at 9am. At 9:15am I called talk to someone apparently someone just messaged me and I did not immediately reply back so now I'm bumped for late afternoon but that person cannot give me a time frame I feel this company takes on more customers than they can handle and that they give their customers the run around. I had to give one star. That's for The outhouse we paid for and they kept it clean during the new plumbing install. We're not happy about the leaking brand new toilet. We spent $28,000 on plumbing. And they're finished but the toilet leaks. We've had three or four service techs come out to TRY to fix it, reseal the edges, but it's still leaking toilet water on our brand new floor. the employees didn't seem too worried about the puddles of water on the floor and just said don't sit on the toilet too hard. how do you not sit on a toilet too hard? We are both disabled and my husband is rather large and they refuse to replace the toilet even though he's complained about it being too small and it's uncomfortable for him to use the toilet. This is an ADA toilet by the way, "Americans with disabilities," and they don't want to replace it. We never had problems with our old toilet, it worked great. Now it leaks. We "thought" we had a warranty, but they're not going to honor it. So I guess we're going to have to take it to another level perhaps see an attorney. I think they're stalling on fixing it so the warranty expires. Companies will do that, they'll string you along, and string you along, and string you along until the warranty is expired When the warranty expires, they're not responsible. I'm waiting for them to do something to fix what They did. It's Their work. I'm thinking any response to this review from their company will be a BOT The OFFICE and techs employees are nice. They do work hard, but they work hard only when they have time to. they're often very busy so there's a wait. It is inconvenient to wait. On four occasions, they missed appointments. Two were no call no shows. They replaced our plumbing in our house above plumbing and below the cement in the basement.so far so good. But the toilet leaks and we just had our flooring replaced in the bathroom, a complete remodel. there's water on the floor that's appears to be leaking from the toilet. they installed then Ada toilet which is a brand new toilet by the way. We had an old toilet that was 35 years old and never had a leak in it. Never once. Now we have a leaking toilet and water on the floor. I'm worried the leaking toilet is going to cause dry rot in our brand new flooring. We "supposedly have a warranty" but, it appears they're not going to replace the toilet. it sounds like they want us to pay for it. which is really doesn't make any sense since we have a warranty on the work they did. we shouldn't have to deal with water on the floor that's coming from the toilet, that's unsanitary and a health hazard. It is UNACCEPTABLE I'm surprised the city of Portland, when they did their final inspection, didn't notice the water puddles on the floor Id say the city of Portland doesn't really do a very thorough inspection of 3 Mountains plumbing work. if you get a warranty from them be aware that it might not be very good. You might not be getting the warranty you thought you were going to get. Read between the lines on anything you sign. And don't get them get away with missed appointments or no call no shows. Be firm and consistent with this company. Don't allow them to ignore you.when you call. They take their time dealing with problems they created. Fixing their mistakes is like chasing After old money. Avoid! The first warning sign was the number of times they cancelled the day of. 3 times they cancelled on me the morning of and then finally the 4th time they showed up. They did give me a $100 credit towards services since they cancelled so much. Well, their prices can take into account $100! Way overpriced. They wanted $776 to install a lighting fixture and fix the light switch. We ended up getting the work done because I was desperate to get this taken care of. The work itself seemed fine. I got so many excuses from them, from their front desk staff, to a higher up who spoke to me after the second reschedule. Thank goodness this was a small job, I would be extremely concerned accepting any bids where there is ongoing work multiple days, and could totally see the difficulty of other reviewers stating that they wouldn't show up to follow up on any warranty work. There was another warning sign while interacting with the front desk, I inquired about an electrician that my neighbor worked with who I think left the company. When I asked her is the person still with the company, I sensed fear and she said that she just answers the phone and does not know who their electricians are??? WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This is a long review but we feel it is important for others to hear our story. Our basement floor drain failed. We had a technician from 3 mountain plumbing out. They were nice and got us to commit funds to open up where there appeared to be a break. After opening the hole they told us there was a break further down the line and we would have to do a full replacement. We got a shiney pamphlet saying what would happen. That's where things got bad. Our floor drain started to completely back up, but we were weeks out from the replacement. They came and did something but the communication was so poor at this point we had no idea what they did. When they opened the trench they did it on a Wednesday. We were told it was a three day job and they were ready by Friday. Problem was our city doesn't do inspections on Fridays. That left the trench open for the next week and we got a massive storm turning yard to muddy mess. Naturally after the inspection the water main that at this point had been exposed and hanging in the air for a week failed. They still filled the trench despite the fact that we now had to replace the water main. When they replaced the water main, they couldn't make the 90 degree turn into the house with the slant drilling machine. So they had to open another trench through the front yard and drill through the house foundation, completely rerouting the water line. Oh and they never told us any of this until they completed the work despite the fact that we were both at home. They told us they would be back the next day to grade the yard with some good topsoil and spread seed. One person showed with four bags of soil and kind of threw it around. Then tried to use a sawsal to cut the now dried ruts around the yard. They also forgot to spread seed and we had to remind them. They left the trench supports in our front yard for at least another week. We had to call and remind them to get them. Now it's January and it turns out they did not close the permit for the water line. We have called several times and cannot get anyone on the line to talk with us on this permit issue. I would NOT recommend using this company. Communication is poor and they do not follow through with what they say. They left our yard trashed. All they really wanted was to get us to sign the contract for the work and take our money. 100% satisfaction should not be expected from this company. read more

I needed a valve replaced in my shower, I did all the prework by opening up the wall, buying the valve and trim set, and shutting off the water supply. The technician was here for about 1.5 hours. They charged $1,200 and the trim set was not properly installed and left a gap between wall and trim set. The caulk job was sub par. All in all they are WAY overpriced for less than ideal quality. The 3 mountains team stopped part way through a repipe project and no longer respond to phone calls, texts, or emails. We paid $20,000 for the project and somehow our plumbing is worse. Our hot water works occasionally (the rest of the time it's 70-90 degrees) because of a cross connection somewhere in the pipes. When i brought this up their plumber said it was an issue with our 2 year old hot water heater (until another plumber on his team showed him he was wrong). It's now been 2 full months since the start of our "3 day project" and they haven't finished it.
