I explained the estimate that was given me was way out of line with the other estimates give me. It was a little of twice as high as the other estimates given me from other electricians. After explaining to me the work to be down required more than I wanted and what they exactly bid on was more involved I understood where they were coming from. He did not feel that the city would issue a permit for what I wanted. However, I had 4-5 other estimates from licensed and bonded electricians and they all said there would no problem getting the work permitted the way I wanted and it would work. My upstairs tub flooded my whole downstairs. Called Roth. Received an ESTIMATE, for $2500 to complete the work. Knowing nothing about the job that needed to be done, we went ahead with the job. Plumber showed up and with maybe three hours of work (pretty easy job) everything was good to go. I by no means thought it would still cost $2500. Literally $20 worth of parts and three easy hours of work. You have got to be kidding me. No Plumber should cost $800 per hour. When I voiced my concern to the company, Ivan called and could not understand what the problem was. DO NOT GO WITH ROTH! THEY ARE EASILY TRIPLE THE COST OF ANY OTHER COMPANY! I will go out of my way to make sure no one I know ever uses Roth and I am going to everyone and their mom how they overcharge. Furnace operating but no heat: Ignition lit up, gas valve solenoid clicked to supply gas, but no flame. The Roth technician tapped on the gas valve solenoid with a wrench, and the furnace started operating correctly - a stuck solenoid. The gas valve replacement cost was quoted to me as $1,583!! For an $85 part retail with a replacement time around 30 minutes. I expected maybe $250-$300. Kudos for the technician's knowledge. The $112 service call was fair. There was a two hour window given for the crews arrival. That time came and went without a peep. I texted the rep if the appointment was still on for the day and magically got a call saying the crew would be there in 25-35 minutes, at least 45 minutes late. The crew arrives and while one member starts unloading, the other decides to ignore the quote I already accepted and give me a new one for $150 more. That's when management called and said to stop work and reschedule because they didn't want to pay the crew overtime. I go along with it sensing an opportunity for a big discount, but no. The management requests half down to lock in the next appointment a week later. No. You expect me to pay $850 deposit with this display of ineptitude? Two guys from Roth came, spent about 20 minutes on the spot, and changed a fuse? OK, so I gave up and called another plumbing service. The root cause of the leak was a builders error stainless into galvanized into copper. They simply remove the corroded galvanized fitting (s), replaced with either stainless or copper and were out in about 30 minutes! I have lowered my review from 2 stars to 1 based on the combination of the service technician not identifying the corrosion of the galvanized and risk of mixed metals in the tankless water heater piping, and the lack of responsiveness to my call backs. read more

In summary: Avoid Roth Home. Do not get scammed. Our story -- We scheduled both a plumber and an HVAC service. Here's what I was told: for each service, I must pay a $104 trip fee. This fee would be applied as a credit to any repairs we proceeded with. Not ideal, but fine. I consented to this. Here's what I was NOT told: 1. All plumbing repairs cost a flat fee of $700. If this were disclosed to me while scheduling, I would have NEVER paid someone $104 to come out and "assess" a leaky faucet, only be to be told I'm being charged a flat fee of $700 to fix it. If it's a flat fee, shouldn't this be discussed during scheduling? Ha.. not if you're trying to make a quick $104 for doing nothing! 2. If an assessment/diagnosis takes longer than 30 minutes, they charge a "diagnosis" fee. This fee is determined at the pure discretion of the tech. Since there's no standardized way of determining this fee, who's to say they don't factor in how nice your house is? I.e., how much more money can they squeeze out of you? And further, isn't the diagnosing process precisely what we paid a $104 trip fee for? Our fireplace's remote and receptor were broken. To determine this in about 45 minutes, we were charged a $311 diagnosis fee. When I challenged the fee, Ivan, a project manager at their office, told me this was actually on the low end of "what they could have charged." To their credit, after literally five phone calls with them, they agreed to reimburse us the difference. So there you have it. Those are the two main details they conveniently forgot to disclose during my (20 minute) scheduling call. But as you may know, if you see a gun in Act 1, it will be shot in Act 2! So you may be wondering -- what about the fireplace repair? What was the quote for that? And did you go through with it? We were given the amazing opportunity of replacing our standard fireplace remote and receiver for the low, low price of $1,504. The same model they quoted us for runs about $200 on Amazon, and all the reviews tout how quick and easy the 5-minute installation took. So no, we did not proceed with their repair. Roth Heating & Cooling -- we would have overpaid by a decent amount just to have it taken care of, but $1,500 would make anyone take pause before moving forward. If you want to rip people off, be a little more tactful. From reading other reviews, it seems that this shameless price-gouging is par for the course for Roth Home. The person they sent to my home, Kevin, was nice and polite. I actually didn't get service from this company so I cant review that. Why you might ask? Because, I laughed the company out of my house with a quote for over $1600 for a faucet install that cost less than $200 at Home Depot. Which means their labor rate would be nearly $700 an hour for what was offered. Which is truly insane. Call ANY company with a $350 an hour labor rate (which is still wacky high) and they will be at your home in the time it takes them to drive to you. I waited 3 days for this "privilege". No. Get OUT of my house. I will literally spend an hour on Youtube learning how to do it myself. Oh, and although they honored the "free" inspection they quoted me over the phone, they certainly had me sign something to the tune of "$33x.xx" and tried to collect on that before giving me a quote for the service. So, free, while on the phone means one thing, means something entirely else once they arrive to you home. All in all, I wouldn't recommend that anyone I know ever contact this company if they are worried about .... /// A) Getting someone to their home in a timely manner /// B) A fair quote for service. Again ANY company could have quoted me $250 an hour for 6 hours worth of work, and they still would have been cheaper than what was offered at my home. Roth Heating & Cooling did a GREAT job taking out my old HVAC system and installing a new system, made in America. I went to four different companies to quote swapping out my old and busted heat pump and furnace for a new heat pump and furnace system. I performed a side-by-side comparison. Roth was highest in all categories. In my mind, I had written them off. Through the process of investigating the different bids, I contacted all companies. Two washed out because they never called back. For me and my wife, between the last two, Roth called back and answered all of my questions. They were great. We decided their responsiveness showed excellent customer service and that we wanted that. We went with Roth. For the other contractors, the installs were 2-3 weeks out. Roth basically asked us when we wanted it installed. Seriously, they installed it today, about 24 hrs after signing the purchase agreement. I had a delivery truck show up this morning with a pallet of wrapped equipment. About thirty minutes later, Tony and Caleb showed up. They worked through the day. They kept the work environment (our house) very clean. They were respectful and professional. They completed the job in less time than was thought. When Caleb was in the crawl space he noted that two of our vent laterals had become a bit disconnected, so he connected them quickly. He noted that the previous HVAC condensate drain had been left to drain in the crawl space. He removed it, they added a condensate pump and ran the drain outside. They went above and beyond and it truly seemed like that was just business as usual. We have a pretty old house and are just starting to find things that will be needing upgrade, like plumbing and electrical. Roth does this. I will be calling them for all our work. Is it repairable vs replaceable?) so that I could move forward with my insurance claim. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU ARE USING INSURANCE OF ANY KIND. My options were to cancel the claim because Roth Home refused to answer these very basic questions after I paid them for their service, or hire another company to come in and do the same thing I already paid Roth Home to do, but make sure they were willing to answer the simple questions required to move forward with my claim. Scammers! I was a loyal Roth heating customer for many years. I have since canceled my services as I can not trust this company. I had them perform a camera scan of my sewer line. (a complimentary service they offer) the Tech says he 'found large deposits and debris' and it requires a $2500 water jet service. So, I hired a trustworthy plumber RAYBORNS plumbing to double check that diagnosis. We found the sewer line to be nearly spotless and ran the camera 80+ feet from my house into the city sewer lines. All clear & all clean. What a scam, terribly dishonest. Never recommending them to anyone. read more

The technicians were able to get out quickly, resolve half the issue that day, and returned within a few days to finish the job. Bryce Reedy listened to us carefully about the problem we were having and immediately found the issue after a previous technician was condescending, telling us everything with our AC was fine when it was obviously not. It turns out the ducting in the crawl space and attic had separated, sending all our cool air into the attic and crawl space. Both duct problems are now solved by Bryce and his fellow technician, and the system is working well. We're so grateful for their speediness and professionalism! After arrival and assessing the task (which was installing an EV charging unit), I was informed that Roth's does not charge by the hour but by the task. they charged me over $1,300 for a task that took less than 2 hours with minimal parts. And that was after a "promotion discount " offered only after I was clearly aghast when the price was quoted.
