We were having our house appraised on a Monday. The Saturday before, two sinks backed up and smelly water was in the laundry room and kitchen sink. I knew it was a weekend and a local plumber that I called never called back. RotoRooter said they will come on weekends. I asked for an appt for Sunday and it was available. Jesse and Gio showed up early Sunday. They were professional, nice and pleasant to work with. Jesse did his best to try to keep it within our budget and even went beyond the call of duty in his service. Had a broken bathroom faucet. Called Roto Rooter Hemet. Was charged 1,049.00 to replace. The price was exorbitant, the time taken to replace was 2.5 hours. Seems like a long time to replace a faucet and an angle stop to me. The new faucet had a markup price over what you would pay in a store. I don,t know if Andrew was new or not, but seems like a long time to me to replace a faucet. The owner of the residence has Alzheimers and was asked to sign a contract, when it was obvious the resident was not mentally competent to sign any type of legally binding contract. There are a lot of GOOD plumbers out there, just be careful who you call. Get full price and time estimate before you agree to anything. Buyer Beware! read more

I don't even know where to begin. I am a property manager in San Diego. I manage a property in Murrieta that needed the septic tank pumped. JR (a technician with Roto Rooter) showed up on site and gave me a quote for the work to be done: Jetting the drains and pumping the septic tank. After he jetted the drains and pumped the tank he told me that I needed to replace the drain lines. WHAT? Then why did I just spend $450 for you to jet them? They never restored service for the two bathrooms on the property and I ended up having to call another plumber (Jose with AM PM Plumbing did a great job) after I had already paid Roto Rooter $1000! They told my tenant, my supervisor and me different stories of why they did not finish the work, none of which added up to anything other than they wanted to get as much money out of us as possible. Bottom line, these guys are shisters and will try and rip you off. I very strongly recommend using a different company. read more

Lies and scare tactics! I had a main line blockage that needed to be cleared. They did that with no real problems. However, the told me that the back flow valve was bad and had to be replaced immediately or the drain would just plug up again within days. I could have them do the work for just$1400. They even said that they would apply today's work to the bill. Then they went on to explain that the part alone was $800 and if we did not have it replaced any flooding would not be covered by insurance. This all started sounding like high pressure scare tactics. I called a different plumber for a second opinion. He explained that the part needed was only $30 and was optional. Chris was very helpful with getting us financed and taken care of. Joe T and Josh were out the following two days. They worked non stop to get the job done, we're very respectful of us, our time, and property. They made a stressful situation a lot easier. We would definitely recommend them. Everything appears to be working well. They also worked in a way that permitted us to always have a bathroom in working condition, so we didn't have to stay in a hotel during the job. While the plumbers were very nice, they said that my water heater needed a new pilot assembly to the tune of $735 and it would take a week to get the part in. Not wanting to face the prospect of a week's worth of cold showers I called a local company for a second opinion. The local company was at my house within 5 minutes of my phone call, replaced the thermocouple, which they had in-stock, and 20 minutes later my water heater worked perfectly - to the tune of only $143. Beware, the RotoRooter out of Hemet overcharged right away on our credit card, and I am currently in communication with the corporate offices for Roto Rooter about the fraud. Update: The head corporation instructed them to settle and we got refunded in part with a small portion as decided by the owner of the local franchise. . Not enough for what they stole from us. Another company came in and did the work that these people charged for, but did not know how to do properly. Plus they fixed it for 1/3 of what was charged by those scam artists. read more

I had to call Roto-Rooter because a cartridge was stuck in a valve. Charles arrived shortly after and was professional, helpful and informative. He provided an estimate for best case and worst case scenarios before getting started and was patient and answered all of my questions. Our upstairs shower would not get hot water, so we had assumed that none of our fixtures on the second floor would be getting hot water either. A previous plumber failed to diagnose the issue on a specific shower and left us without answers. We scheduled Roto Rooter online and had two technicians, Nicole and Nick, to come out and take a look. They were great! They were thorough, efficient, and communicative as they tested every fixture in the house. They identified that there were only two fixtures not getting hot water and diagnosed the problem in no time. Shortly after moving into our new home, we discovered a water leak that had been for a long time. We contacted the company affiliated with our home owner warranty. I was concerned about a leak in my shower pipes, I was told that my entire mobile home needed to be repiped and was quoted $6400, or $3200 just to replace the pipes for my shower/kitchen sink. Keep in mind, only my shower was leaking and the pipes under my house are relatively new. Got a second opinion and it turned out to be a small crack in the cold water line that sprayed while the shower was running. Very easy and very inexpensive to fix (and no cutting drywall like the man had mentioned). With everything going on with COVID19 I am shocked at this level of price gouging. So the shoddy job the local Roto Rooter franchise did last year busted today. The main water line cracked at the valves and the joints have come undone. It was literally flooding the street. We had no choice but to turn off the water to the house. Their response, "Not having water isn't an emergency. We can come out Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. " Called corporate Roto Rooter. Their response, "They're a franchise. We can't help you." Now I have to pay another plumbing company to come out and fix their shoddy work. Those that live in the Hemet and San Jacinto Valley, don't hire Roto Rooter. They do a poor job and won't correct their mistakes. I reached out to Roto-Rooter on Monday to schedule a plumber for a simple faucet replacement. Should be a half-hour job. I was advised to call them to schedule and appointment. I called and was scheduled to have a plumber come on Tuesday morning (today). At 9:10 Tuesday morning, I received a text message telling me that there were "a lot of delays in the area" and that they were projecting that the plumber would be here by 1:00. At 1:26, another text that they were offering to make me first priority on Wednesday morning. I responded that I have better things to do than to wait all day for them to do what they promised to do. I added that if they didn't have someone here by 3:00, that they should never contact mt again. They quickly responded that there was a technician in the area who was just finishing a job and that he would be here between 2:30 and 3:30. I received a call at 3:00 telling me that the technician was on the way. He showed up, took a minute to look at the job and told me that he'd have to have an estimate written, but the minimum charge is $350. I already had an estimate from another plumber for $185, so I asked the Roto Rooter tech to leave. The experience was a waste of my day. They could have simply told me about their ridiculous minimum charge and I would have been able to spend my day doing something other than feeling foolish for calling these people. A rip-off business exploiting folks who don't know any better. DO NOT USE THIS AWFUL COMPANY. read more

Jerry came out on an emergency call because our sewer backed up into the shower after flushing the toilet. It was after hours about 6:30 and he was already working on another job. When he came out, he immediately went to work and snaked out the problem and used a camera, which showed overgrown roots into the pipe at the street end, but enough on our side of the property that it was our problem. He worked out in the rain for a couple of hours and said he would be back the next day when he could see something in the daylight. He had to call on another employee, Oscar, to help him the next day as they were working on multiple jobs. Oscar hand-dug out the pipe area near the street and it was actually 6 feet down. He used a shovel-like tool that could break up the hard dirt, rock and asphalt and brought that with him Friday. Oscar worked out in the pouring rain in the dark for a couple of hours. I thought he had gone home, but he was still out there doing his job. Saturday, 2 other guys came out from a different company and put a huge "sock" (40 ft) around the street pipe opening and then they shot epoxy down through it. That took about 3 hours. The epoxy had to be mixed and put through the sock-like tubing and shot out of a "cannon-looking" machine to push it through. It's actually called a cannon. It also had to be heated to about 150 degrees and they used water as well. It's used as an insulation the coats the sewer piping and prevents roots from getting in. The entire process took about 4 hours. I was really amazed at the process these guys had to do to finish this job. It's fixed now and we're happy. It should last another 20 years! The price started out at $4,000 and went to $10,000 but when I stood out there with the guys to take pics and mark their progress, they really earned it. read more

After living in our Murrieta home for 4 years the drain lines completely stopped up. They had been gargling for weeks, off and on. Then, today they totally clogged up. I did what I could do but with no success. So, I contacted our local 'Roto-Rooter'. Within an hour of calling, Hugo and his supervisor, Riccardo arrived to resolve the problem. Both introduced themselves and began to work. First, Hugo located the sewer line clean out. He ran his electric snake as far as he could until it wouldn't go any further. The line was definitely clogged. So, Riccardo set up his camera equipment to determine the problem. Within minutes all of us could see the build up of a grease like substance. The snake would not budge it. They recommended using a Hydro Jett high pressure unit to clean the entire line out under the house and out to EMWD's main sewer line. BTW, this service is not cheap but anything done right usually does require the best equipment and employees to resolve. We agreed, Hugo went back to the company yard, picked up the JETT and returned in a timely manner.. It only took a little over a half hour to successfully clean our entire sewer line. Main drain clogged! Called Roto Rooter and Joe responded. Joe has done some work for me before and I have not seen anyone work harder than he does. This time, he arrived around 9:30pm. Has no problem working long hours to get the customer taken care of. Joe cleared the problem and made arrangements to come over the next day to install a new kitchen faucet. He even shopped for the right one to go with a new portable dishwasher I was expecting. Joe came over early the next day and installed the new faucet for me and I love it, by the way! About a month ago our shower was leaking quite a bit in a second house we have on our property. We figured it just needed new gaskets. Hubby tried to fix it, but couldn't get the handles off. It was Saturday, and the only "plumber" we could get out was R.R. "Joe" showed up around an hour after I called. Super nice and friendly, like one of the family. He went back to look at the leak. He came up to the main house to talk to my husband and me, and this is where he worked his "magical RR plumber language on us" He said I can't do any thing today, I have no parts on my truck. We have to wait for the "Master Plumbers" on Monday. The cost: The price starts at $375.00. That is to remove and replace the handles, gaskets, etc. Here is where it gets really good. He says if they run into trouble once they get in there and have to go in through the outside wall, then were talking minimum of $795.00 and up. Scare tactics, oh my yes, for unsuspecting seniors, not us. My husband and I sat there in amazement shaking our heads. Good old Joe left, I was going to call a local plumber on Monday and see what kind of a deal we could get with Pierce plumbing. He had been out before to fix the same kind of leak in our kitchen. $75.00 Pricey, but not $400.00 to who knows how high. My husband went to work on Monday, and ran into a licensed contractor he knew. They started talking about our leaky shower, and he told my husband what to do to fix the problem. Hubby bought the part, for $11.00. It took him less than 2 minutes to install it, and guess what....no more leaky shower. My warning to anyone needing a plumber on the week-end is, don't panic and try to wait until the following Monday to call in a local plumber, They are much less expensive, and won't use scare tactics on you. Rotor Rooter, in my opinion, is not really a plumbing company. They are drain cleaners. That's why they don't carry any parts on their trucks. We had them out about 5 years ago, to fix a plugged up drain in the kitchen, in the same little house. They told us, they would have to clean out the main line. Ok, but were a little iffy on the price, because they didn't know what kind of trouble they might run into. Does that sound familiar? This is a very small house. Around 350 sq. feet. Not much main line to clean, right? Final bill $795.00. For less than half an hours work, and this was 5 years ago. Consumers....beware. read more

I Called out roto rooter Hemit to clear a main line drain. I had it fully exposed easy access. The tech came out wanted 250 to clear it. I said Ok. another tech calls me back saying we need to Hydro Jet for and additional 750. I declined because I knew it was an easy fix. Call another plumber He snaked the drain in 1/2 hour for $150. I feel like they were trying to scam me with a song and dance, plus I'm out the $250. read more

Late Friday night and the we have a major issue with our toilets. This is not something you wait until Monday to call the plumber about. So we had to call Roto-Rooter. They came out and did a good job. Our plumber (who is very good and reasonably priced) was horrified when he learned that they were charging us more than $3,000 for something he would have done for $900. So we felt a bit like our bank account got roto-rootered, but that's the price you pay for after-hours service I guess. That's the only reason I didn't give them more stars. It's always better to have a plumber you know and trust do the work if possible. These guys did a good job, but the bill was usurious. read more

On this Sunday, I came home to find a leaking pipe in my garage. I shut off the water and called some friends for plumber referrals. I called the first referral but no one answered/just voicemail (and I'm still waiting for a call back.) Anyhow, I called the second referral which was Roto Rooter as my friend told me he used them on Thanksgiving Day when a similar situation happened and they weren't charged extra for coming out on the the holiday. Doesn't look like I was charged extra for weekend servbice either which is nice. Anyhow, they committed to have someone there within 2 hours and said they would call when the tech was in route. They did just that and he was there within 1 hour of my initial call. The tech, Saul, was very polite and professional. He said the matter would be fixed within the hour...and it was. Ten o'clock on a school/work night and both toilets started spewing fecal sewage. The mess was slowly oozing across our new flooring, soaking rugs and baseboards. Panicked and tired we called Roto-Rooter. The phone was answered by a live person and within thirty minutes Marco arrived like a knight in shining armor. He took in the situation and said, "If I can't fix this, nobody can." Joined by a couple of others, Marco and his crew had stopped the overflow and cleaned up the wet floors immediately. The next morning they arrived with more workers to disinfect and assess the damage.
