However, as it grew dark and my notices kept saying the technician was delayed, I was on the verge of canceling my appointment. It was then when Roto-Rooter called to inform the technician was available. Was I still in need of their service. That was the best decision I ever made. Despite it being late and dark, Robert Gracie was undeterred by the circumstances. Over the course of two hours, HE LEFT NO STONE UNTURNED. He was on a mission to pinpoint our problem as if it were his own. On the day he returned to install a filtration system and repair some fixtures, he ran into some issues as a result of the age of our house. Although it meant spending a few more hours, Robert was determined to get to the root of the issue. He ventured out into our steep backyard to see if that lone pipe was causing any issue -- and this was in addition to having to crawl beneath our house. Robert Gracie is indeed a rare find. Christopher arrived approximately 30 minutes after my yelp request to complete my plumbing leak in a super fast, professional manner at an exceptional value. I was initially contacted by Kaleo at Allen plumbing, stating they would have a technician at my house at 2 pm for a premium service call. I got multiple texts from Kaleo to confirm my request and appointment time. About 3 pm, 1 hour after my premium appointment with Allen's plumbing, I went back on yelp to request additional help, that's when Roto-Rooter contacted my and provided top notch service. This company was quick to respond. Truck came out faster than I could clean up the area! Rob is the most genuine, honest and hardworking plumber. I was so worried about getting an expensive water bill due to the leak. Rob didn't hesitate to help out. To access my water main valve, he had to dig about a foot under my hedge. Then he took out his chainsaw to clear away my gnarly hedge to replace my 60 year old corroded main valve. Not only that-- but he returned the next day to clear out the branches and swept up the debris! Rob has integrity and understands life in Hawaii. We work hard for our $ and don't need scams or pressure. Rob knew I was on a tight budget & he was genuinely concerned about my choice to "go for it" & change the main valve. My rating for My experience with Roto-Rooter is no stars whatsoever. The company scams its clients. We were charged $727.75 for the use of a camera to unclog our bathroom sink, a procedure that was not needed (confirmed by the plumber who came the next day to finish the job) . We were then quoted $1400 to proceed with unclogging of the drain. We refused to pay this ridiculous amount and had another plumber (A-1 Budget Plumbing) come the next day and unclog our drain for $178.01 (with tax). It took less than 30 minutes. The GM of the local branch of Roto-Rooter called to "make things right" the next day by offering a discount on a future job with them. How insulting and ridiculous is that!?! And they do not honor coupons found on their homepage. I will never again use Roto-Rooter for plumbing work. read more

We had a clogged drain yesterday and called Roto- Rooter based on the raving reviews they had on their site. It never dawned on me that they probably screened the reviews as my experience was the opposite. My husband called and was told that the window was from 11:30-1:30. At 12:28 we received a text saying that they were running behind schedule but that we were next in line.This was followed by the same message four additional times. At 4 pm, my husband called and was told we were next. This was followed by the same text message at 5. I called at six to get more information and the dispatcher said she would follow up. Instead, the same message appeared at 6:30. At 7:30, I asked for an update, and again, the same message appeared at 8:30. When I called at 8:30, I was told that the technician would not be coming until 10:30!! He said I could reschedule for tomorrow morning. He assured me that we were first in line, a priority. This morning, we were told a technician would come between 8-9am. At 9am we got the same text message saying they were running behind but that we were next in line. After waiting for close to 22 hours I told them to cancel the order. In the phone message, they say that they're professional and also said that they provide same day service. As far as I'm concerned, that's false advertising. I definitely would not recommend Roto- Rooter to anyone looking for prompt service. read more

The great - excellent response from the call center!!!! Very eager to please. They quoted within an hour someone would be here..............hour came and went .........no show, no update, this is where I got a bit frustrated......... Apparently there were only 2 technicians on my duty in the area at the time - and both were on cases despite me being next in line. Now I get it, things take longer....... still I was more upset at the fact that I had to keep calling to get updated, rather than being updated via text or something else. That was BAD on the call center to quote me an hour and someone would be out. Ended up waiting 3 hours!!!!! Technician was great. Extremely professional and fair even comped as much as he could for the wait and all, which I was grateful for. Process improvement needs to happen at call center to better inform customers of accurate times. That is my chief complaint. When I finally got the estimate for repairs I was quoted $10,000 to fix a P Trap, a cracked santee and repair 3 feet of pipe. $8200 was for labor but the write up was vague and non descriptive. Deceiving customers! After the plumber finished unclogging the drain, he verbally told us there was a 6-month warranty, but wrote only 1 month on paper. My toilet had an obstruction, so I've called Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleaning Services, let me start off with the good, thy were able to unclog my toilet so it can flush efficiently again, the bad, they charged me $400 just to unclog my toilet while a usual unclog service would usually cost half the amount, they have scratched my porcelain, mind you I just moved into my new condo unit a couple days ago before be incident, now my toilet has scratches and I've tried to contact Roto-Rooter to see if I could get a full refund or even more importantly for them to come back to then restore the porcelain on my toilet, the best they said they could do was to give me a further discount, until they are able to come back an undo the damage they've done, I will be pursuing another plumbing and water cleaning services. read more

I had a very positive experience with Zach, the repair technician that was sent by Roto-Rooter plumbing. I was very hesitant at first because I saw that the company had a few negative reviews. But I was gratified that Zack, who is a journeyman- plumber did an excellent job and was very professional. I asked him to note on the invoice that I would pay, the amount of work that would be required and to include in the total amount due, parts and labor (including hours spent). Roto-Rooter dispatched a technician promptly and Zach was friendly and courteous. He answered all my questions. He did leak detection test which cost $392.67. The fee will not be deducted from the cost of the actual repair. He did find a leak under the floor which gave me two options: reroute the pipes or break ground and patch the leak. I chose to reroute the pipes and was quoted estimate of about $6,400 for the labor and $4,000 for material. But they came back with the final quote of $22,650. So I shopped around and found a plumber that would do it for much less. I had need for Saturday service on a leaking toilet: leaking into a lower unit, and so I considered it an emergency. I was given a time block to expect service, Saturday noon to 4:00pm. Roto-Rooter called me at 2:00pm: technician was running late, earlier job was more complicated, and there's can outside chance that it would take longer than 4:00pm. I called Roto-Rooter at 3:35pm, asked to reschedule to Sunday, was given the time slot, 8:00am-10:00am. I was told that my job, a reschedule, would be at the top of the list. Thinking that my job was early in the work day + what I was told by the call center, I believed that the plumber would come during the 8:00am-10:00am time slot. Sunday, 9:00am, no plumber, and so I called Roto-Rooter, I was on the schedule, I would get a call when the plumber was on his way. Sunday, 10:00am, no plumber, and so I canceled the appointment. Sunday, 10:30am, I got a call, "the plumber is running late." I had to tell my story, ask that my concerns be passed up the chain, I had canceled the appointment. Call center & dispatch were very polite and professional, HOWEVER, I had 2 time blocks scheduled and Roto-Rooter couldn't deliver a plumber. Toilet was running. Sent pic to property manager and was told the fill valve needed to be replaced and it was a $24 part at Home Depot. Her plumber charges $120 but was on holiday and I'd have to wait 10 days, which I didn't want to do. Roto Rooter wouldn't give me a quote over the phone but said they'd send someone out for a free estimate. Their rep was nice enough but also obviously embarrassed to tell me that it would be $600 PLUS parts. I sent him in his way. Had a neighbor come and do it...took him 15 minutes. I think I must have just been standing there with jaw on the floor. That is so far out of line with other, local plumbing companies that this will be a one-time only visit... The person I spoke with to schedule the appointment was friendly and made the process easy. When the technician, Bucky, arrived, he was polite, communicative, and professional. The bad news: We had another evening, emergency plumbing issue. It's an old house. The good news: Yet another great experience with Roto-Rooter! Dispatch sent out David this time, and we couldn't have asked for a more thorough, honest, and personable technician. Once the problem was diagnosed, he clearly explained what needed to be done and gave us a reasonable estimate for service. He talked us through each step and was careful with our old plumbing. Also, it was great chatting with this really nice young man! In the end, no high pressure add-on charges, no surprise fees, and no shock when given the final balance for services like the what we've experienced with another highly visible emergency plumbing service.
