Very disappointed. My husband and I wasted our entire Saturday. Our plumbing issue was supposed to be addressed this morning after we verbally accepted the quote and service with a technician the prior day. We were told a technician would be arriving to fix our plumbing issues between 8 to 10:30 am this morning. Guess what? No one showed up and there was no updates--unprofessional. I still gave them a chance by calling them to ask if they were still coming and waiting. At about 2 pm today a technician did arrive and then he said he'd have to go buy supplies--which is weird because why wasn't there shared notes between technicians regarding what was needed for the job--highly inefficient. So the technician left to the store after never actually working on our issue and never came back. We then got a call saying that they'd need to reschedule to Monday or Tuesday because the technician wasn't prepared. This doesn't work for us and we already communicated to the previous technician that Monday/Tuesday didn't work for us because we work full time. And regardless at this point, this business has proved itself to be inefficient and unreliable. I called the business to communicate again that Monday/Tuesday didn't work. I was told that I'd get called by a supervisor and they'd try to get someone out today. That was hours ago and there has been no communication since. Seems like the supervisors must not have a stand up character. The least they could do is call and apologize for the inconvenience. So in summary, Roto-Rooter is unprofessional and unreliable. After a camera inspection, the tech and his supervisor claimed my entire line was 1970s-vintage Orangeburg pipe and quoted me five figures for a full replacement. Following a second opinion from the City of Modesto, I discovered the pipe was actually ABS from start to finish--no replacement needed. I was understandably upset and reached out to management. The Branch Manager, Devin, called me back. He was professional, genuinely surprised by the discrepancy, and took full accountability to make things right financially. Devin is the only reason this is a 4-star review instead of a 1-star scathing one. If you have issues, ask for management--DEVIN IS A CLASS ACT! read more

Way overpriced. They came on a weekend and explained an additional cost, which was expected. By the time they got here, the clog seemed to have cleared itself. Technician still snaked the drain and believed, based on the "muck" that came back ln the snake, that we needed to do a jet clean and then a scope to figure out the issue. He quoted us $2150 for this - agreeing to deduct the amount we paid for him to snake the drain (that didn't even need to be done since the clog had cleared - which cost $395 plus the weekend fee of $79!). The next day, the city came out and scoped our line for free! And the next day, we had someone else out who inspected our line and cleared some roots for less than rotorooter's initial service cost! We also got rates from other plumbers to jet wash and scope the line, and they were a quarter of the price of rotorooter. Would never use this company again. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! Our apartment complex hired this company to come service our unit because our showers were backing up slightly with sewage water. They spent an entire day clearing the pipes from outside in which they said it was all clear and everything was good to go. The next morning I turned my shower on and both showers in the apartment instantly filled with feces and feces water started pouring out from underneath our toilets as well. The apartments called Roto-Rooters back to come fix what was happening. A supervisor for Roto, named Nick, came to my door and said he would be working on the issue all day. About an hour later he has sent a maintenance worker from my complex to remove both my toilets so he could snake the drain from there. I waited over an hour and a half and Nick never came back and had completely left the property without notifying anyone!! After 1 1/2 hours feces and water started to flood my bathrooms and down my hallway. Nick and a colleague whose name I did not catch came back finally hours later. They began stepping in the feces directly and walked around my entire house. They tracked feces through my entry way, my hallway, INTO MY CARPET and back again!! They had 0 regard for my home. They "finished" the job and when we asked them if they planned on cleaning the feces they spread everywhere they told us it was not their job and left! Our apartment is now a Hazmat situation and we are unable to live there and have been out of a home for 5 days now. They left our apartment unlivable because of the spread of feces and still never hooked our toilets back up. I am completely mind blown and disgusted by Roto-rooter. Last night around 10pm our hot water went out, my dad wanted me to look for someone to come out and I saw online that Roto-Rooter is open 24/7. I decided to give them a called and hoped they would pick up and they did, they sent out Jacob S. and Robert out to the house this morning at around 8am or 9am. They informed us that the water heater we had in our home is from 2004 and they quickly worked up an estimate that included the haul away & removal of the old water heater, the new water heater, and as well as a new gas line that needed to be brought up to code. Everything was so quick and the guys got to work right away and on the same day. Jacob S. and Robert explained everything step by step and were so patient and so helpful with everything. We had an absolute NIGHTMARE weekend when our sink backed up and overflowed on Saturday, flooding the kitchen and into our dining area and living room. Within an hour of us calling, Roto Rooter was at our apartment, first with Sebastian Gonzales of the Restorative team to document water and leak damage and inform the incoming plumber of the situation. Jacob Schober showed up within 30 minutes of Sebastian's arrival, assessed the situation further, and then ran a snake to help open the line to prevent more overflow. Surprise, surprise! Out came ROOTS. I asked for the line to be camera recorded to get a detailed idea of the damage to the pipeline, and while Jacob did not have access to a camera, he contacted his supervisor Travis to come out and take care of that for us. Sebastian, in the meantime, helped set up fans and a dehumidifier to help absorb the water and prevent mold from becoming an issue. Travis Stepp arrived today, along with the assistance of Richard Hunt, and ran the camera through the line to verify the root damage, take pictures and video, and give an estimate of repair. All four gentlemen were extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire ordeal, notifying us of costs and recommendations each step of the way. I am 100% happy with the services they provided and would recommend them to anyone else; this team in particular gets an A+, 5 star rating from me for all of their help and expertise during this disaster. read more

Horrible service if I could give 0 stars I would, the technician they sent out to do the work did not know what he was doing he was guessing about what the problem was and he lied about trying to clear the line and said he snaked over a 100ft and there's not over a 100 feet that exists to run a line he over charged and wanted to continue to charge me until he found what the problem was! They are a total rip off, I wish I would've checked the reviews first. I had Roto rooter come out a few times. 1st time for a clog in the pipes, and the technicians were very knowledgeable and got the job done quickly and cleaned my bathroom very well! 2nd time leaking pipe issue, technician was nice but man the pricing was ridiculous! Way back in April of 2023 I had all the "Cast Iron" pipes replaced with ABS pipes, I was told they "HAD" to be all replaced and I Had to take out a loan. So I did and then all the way fast forward to November 17, 2023 7 months later. House starts smelling like sewage. Look out under the house and the pipes are all coming apart and leaking raw sewage out all under my house. I call out Roto Rooter (since I was told I had a "10" year warranty) They sent out Technician "Johnathan" Johnathan said He was just the "middleman" and he called Nick Harland (Project Manager) showed him pics and let him know what he found. Nick said he didn't like how the job was done in the first place and that he was going to have the whole job redone and re-piped. (Per Johnathan) I was standing right there while he was on the phone with Nick. My Home warranty wouldn't cover the original job because Roto Rooter could not find the external cleanout. While the job was failing and the NEW pipes were falling apart, my boyfriend happened to look for the external cleanout and found it in less than 5 minutes. Roto Rooter did the whole job not even knowing there was a cleanout in place and so created another "external cleanout" on the other side of the house which is hanging in mid air with no support underneath. so on Thanksgiving I had no bathroom and the job was still not fixed, Not until November 28th 2023 did i speak to Nick Beyer and he let me know that he was not happy with the whole situation, and I let him know that i hadn't heard from Nick H. for days and that he never showed up on 2 occasions when he said he would. Nick B. said He was going to make Nick H. come out and camera the lines to see exactly what is going on! the next visit was by Tech Johnathan again and he said he was going to "glue" the pipe back on and said the job is "fixed" and will not be redone. Next day got home from work started doing the dishes and the room started smelling like sewage again and I hear gurgling from the shower in the bathroom. I go in there and the tub is full of water and sewage again!! I call Nick Beyer and he tells me that he has no idea why it's backing up again. (Mind you I'm missing work day after day to be home for the repairs or to wait for Roto Rooter to come out!) Nick B states he is going to send tech out again first thing in the morning. Sends out "JOHNATHAN" again and he says that the pipes behind the job he just did came unglued and so now there is raw sewage leaking from the pipes again!!! He glued them back together again and then I got another call from Nick B and he said that the pipes from the house to the street were the problem. And that he now sees the original external cleanout that my Boyfriend had found and uncovered in the front yard. So now my question is WHY did I pay for a $8000 job to change out all the pipes when that wasn't even the problem in the first place?? Why was the job done if that wasn't a problem? On top of that the job was not done correctly and had to be repaired twice!! I never got a summary report that I asked for at least a dozen times. Nick Beyer says while on a phone call, well these summary notes are not to well written I'm 'going to have to fix these" . Why was it automatically assumed that the cast iron had to be replaced with ABS. And how did professional plumbers fail to find the original external cleanout? I am going to seek council, as I do not feel like this job should have been such a fiasco for more than 7 months! I should not have had to pay for such terrible work. We had an outside pipe crack that required turning off the water to the house. Jacob F came out Sunday night and provided a temp fix solution that allowed us to turn the water back on as needed overnight. He then provided an overview of the permanent repairs and an estimate. We accepted the proposal. Jacob came back Monday and did the permanent repair. Jacob was courteous, arrived on time, and effected the repairs in an efficient and professional manner. Where to start again?! My wife and I found out we had a leak coming up from under our property. We called Roto and requested Stephen to come out if possible. He had done some work for us last summer and is great and efficient at his craft. Stephen came out that same day to try and find the leak. Turns out multiple crew from Roto needed to come out to figure out where this leak was. After some time, they were able to figure out we needed a new pipe going from the water line in the street to our house. Stephen got under the house multiple times (tiny crawl space I might add) and figured out how to fix the pipes we needed. Before he was done, he helped figure out some problems that were wrong with the washer, and in the bathroom. But wait there's more.... The next day there was dirt coming out of the faucets! Called Roto back and they sent Stephen back out to drain the dirt out that had gotten in there when replacing the new pipe coming from the main line. This is a common problem and he came back and was able to help us out! he has a great attitude and really has passion for the work he does! Thank you again! read more

Jonathan is an A1 representative of Roto-Rooter! I called Saturday morning around 9:00 a.m. and requested service. By 11:15 a.m. Jonathan had text me and said he was on the way. Right from the get-go you could tell he was a professional and knew what he was doing. He explained the whole process and what I could expect. After he gave me the quote for services he mentioned about a 6-month guarantee and told me their Saturday charges are the same as weekdays. I was happy to hear that. Jonathan worked hard on roto-rooting out my brother's pipes. He had to then go and work on the tubs, the toilet and the sink and making sure they were flowing by using the plunger. It worked. After her work was completed he cleaned up all around where he was at and left the site the way it should have been, fixed! Frances, very poor customer service skills, the contractor,refused to complete the job because he stated that the job wasn't big enough for them to complete. I am very dissatisfied with the treatment I received from them. I wanted a one stop shop from start to finish that they promised would happen. I asked him to take the stuff they left and he refused to do that and said somebody else would come by to pick it up. Also they can't correctly write up invoices to submit to you insurance company.
