Let me just say this place is THE BEST BAR TO WATCH OL REIGN/STORM GAMES! The owner is amazing! Thank you for open your doors to woman's sports lovers like me especially with amazing food! When you walk in there's pieces of keepsakes of the Seattle storm team with autographed flags and lunch boxes. Also a big cut out of Megan rapinoe and Jess Fishlock ambiance wise with other sports fans especially big away games or play off games are always fun to watch here! I had the mushroom poutine and the chicken wings, there's tons of gluten free and vegan options so if you're not feeling heavy to eat they got you! The mushroom poutine was so good! Perfect in a cold day with a modelo! And also order the sweet chili wings! Those were super juicy!! Taste was saucy flavorful! And it had a kick! It was great! I'd love to try next time the Gold mamba nachos or the bird burger. Or the cheese curds. I love good bar food! It was a treat! I frigging love this place. Everything about it. The ambiance, the service, the staff, the food, and how welcoming and inclusive it is. It's incredibly exciting to have a place to watch the Reign games and women sports in general. But wow, the atmosphere, the quality of care and vibe of this place take it to the next level. They are a hot mess when it comes to hosting an event. Came for the first time to event last week, when we got there staff where moving chairs around the time the event started. But then other employees were moving chairs back to the floor. They were not coordinating together. No one ever came and asked for drinks!!! We had to go to the bar and order drinks, the food seemed okay got the nachos. The bar tender was rude to my friends when we ordered drinks. The owner seemed more interested in the people who were selling Seattle Storm products in there bar then actually the customers. It seemed she only talked to her friends and accommodated her friends or people who had connections to merchandise products. It's my first visit, and it won't be my last. The food was good, the venue is open and spacious, and the staff couldn't have been any nicer. We had some brunch items, burgers, and beers. Our waitress was so nice to give me some samples since they didn't have any of the amber beers I like. She found me a perfect substitute. We just hung out and visited for a couple of hours. First time here, honestly, I was expecting something more. We were excited that it was a women's sports bar, and we read that they play women's sports on the TV, so we wanted to support the bar. Close friends that have gone say it's okay and really don't have good things to say besides they get players to come in once in a while, so we wanted to check it out. First, it took forever to get the attention of a server. There seemed to be two events going on that day. Second food took forever to come out, and when we got it, it tasted okay but not impressed. We looked at the menu and was expecting more of a bar food menu, everything seemed to dress up and the prices were a little too high, can I have some of the basics bar food? Third I was not to impressed with drinks, we got a mix drink, and it was horrible, defiantly stick to a draft beer or in a bottle, horrible bar tender. And most importantly they were playing nothing but college male sports!!! or regular male sports. I mean this is a women's sports bar, right? Play women's sports!! Very disappointing experience at the Seattle Ruff & Tumble. Went 1/17 to watch the Bronco's game as we adore Bo Nix Bronco's new Quarterback and someone we have met a few times last year, when he was the Star Quarterback at U of Oregon, our Alma mater. Then watch our Seahawks after that game. We felt very uncomfortable as we cheered for the Bronco's when a couple gals at the bar (clearly regulars) and several others continuously turn and gave us nasty looks as if the Bills (playing the Bronco's) was Seattle's home team. We went to R & T for after seeing the owner's TV interview a few days before raving about how the bar is a place for all and everyone is made to feel comfortable. NOT the case. We ordered food and drinks, both great. Waitress was really good as long as we were ordering food and drinks. My wife ask for water as our waitress was walking by 4 different times with no result. So, she got up and walked to the bar. Waited a couple minutes, then asked someone behind the bar for a glass of water. She was told very rudely that she needed to go back to her seat and ask her waitress, she said I have 4 times and really need a glass of water. He said, "go to your table and sit down" and walked off. She came back and told me, and being in the customer service business for my entire career, I have little tolerance for rudeness at an establishment where I am paying their wages. So, I asked her if she wanted to leave, as she was upset about how she was treated. I ask for the tab, left a 25% tip as the food and drink were good and the waitress was good besides the water issue. On the way out I saw the rude bar guy coming out from the bar carrying a empty Keg and I said "hey.... I don't appreciate you being rude to my wife" before he even looked up at me, he started saying, I don't even know your wife. Why don't you get out of here! I was floored. So incredibly rude. I said, "you are incredibly rude". As I said that a man came out of a door and said what's going on. I asked if he was a manager, he said yes. I ask to step to the side. I told him about what happened and how we were treated and by who. He was very nice and apologetic. Told me that there was a water bar. I told him that would of been great but the employees did not share that information. Instead, they chose to be rude and that is absolutely unacceptable. He offered me a gift card, which I declined. It wasn't about a gift card I did not need. It was about a RUDE employee that ruined our time. We left before the game even started and went to another bar and had a great time. They just opened the columbia city one. They're still figuring things out here, but the staff were great and the food was really good! the ranch dressing is house-made and the fries were cooked well. I had a BLT and my husband had the bahn mi. While the interior comes off a bit sterile and the seats are very uncomfortable they had a great local beer selection. I am sad the alehouse is gone, but new things must grow. I will be happy to come here every week as we did for the alehouse. read more

WATCH WOMEN'S SPORTS. This place is awesome. Thank you for existing. There is so much space here, nice and open with great seating outside on the balcony as well. Everyone working there was really nice and welcoming. We stayed to watch 2 sports games - first OL Reign and then the Storm game so our group was there for quite a while and Maddie took great care of us the whole time - with lots of drinks orders and food. I tried a beer on tap and a glass of wine, some folks had cocktails which I sampled and they were great with clever names. I was very tempted to get one of the salads but couldn't walk away without trying the banh mi made vegan. It was good, though the side of house salad was a little lacking as it was just lettuce with a bit of dressing - some additional veggies on there would be nice! I'll be honest that walking in here made me fairly emotional. Seeing all of the women's sports memorabilia hanging on the walls and women's sports on all the tv's is pretty damn cool and also heartwarming. We always have to ask for women's sports to be put on tv at bars (and sometimes they don't even have the channel) so to have women's sports games be the main event and focus is incredible. read more

Warning: This review is a bit of a long story. Look as a big fan of female sports and females, I wanted to give this place 5 stars. But alas I could not. Here's what happened: I walked in, was immediately seated and my server Marley was wonderful and my drinks came right away. I was there to watch the women's US soccer game against Japan and the place was very lively. Me and my friend are enjoying the drinks, decor and great service. If we had left then this would have been a five star review. However we decided to order food from the new Brunch menu - since we had seen it on the IG and it looked promising. We waited, and waited and waited but no food. I started to notice that it wasn't just our food - nothing was coming out of the kitchen. Like nobody was getting food. Or one burger would come out ever 20 minutes. Nobody came over to us and said "sorry for the wait..." or "we are having a kitchen issue..." Then at one point my side of vegan sausage showed up - which I guess I was supposed to eat as an appetizer while I waited another 15 minutes for my pancakes and eggs? My friend then waited another 20 min for their food and so we shared my pancakes until they got their food. We arrived at 12 and didn't leave until 2:30 just for context. Meanwhile they kept seating people - like this place was already packed and they kept seating people when nobody was leaving. This is management 101 - if your kitchen is backed up don't seat more people until you catch up with orders! You are just screwing the kitchen over and backing them up even more. Yes the drinks were flowing but you end up putting more pressure on your bartending staff when people don't have food. For as long as we waited for food I would have expected a discount on my food or a free drink coupon for next time we visited. Instead all we got was a sorry from our poor waitstaff who obviously was stressed and doing their best given the circumstances. The pancakes were amazing and the rest of the food was pretty good but I haven't had a food experience that bad in a while (like seriously who just serves someone a side of vegan sausage 15 minutes ahead of any other food?) - I hope they can get it together because the place has potential! TLDR: Cool place/good vibes/good food but major screwup with kitchen service :/ (Hopefully that doesn't happen when you go there) read more

What a cute little spot with tons of TVs, pool tables, a Photo Booth and even board games. We got the burger and BLTA, both were delicious and they had some pretty stellar tots if I do say so myself. I like them extra crispy and these came out just right. The side salad with the BLTA was also delicious, dressed in a vinaigrette that was just the perfect amount. Wife got a couple Wheelie Pop (beers) and said they were good - I don't drink but would totally hang here to watch a game and play some pool. Came in on opening weekend, and super excited to support this new spot. The site is bright and airy, with TV's everywhere, literally not a bad seat in the house. Staff was attentive, if a bit rushed; but again, opening weekend and packed, I'm sure everyone was just finding their feet. Food was fair, with large portions, thought hot food did not come out hot, again, I'd attribute to opening weekend things. Loved it. Thoughtful design! There are so many TV's, every seat in the house seemed good to have a a front row seat. Every game was on: male and female sports. So many TV's but the design also makes the room seem welcoming and people focused. Perfect place to watch a game AND spend time with your buddies. The staff were kind welcoming and helpful. The bathrooms are fantastic. I know a weird thing to comment on but they were private all gender bathrooms. A urinal with a closed door stall. Have never seen that and frankly appreciate it! Updated review from 5 stars to 2. Went to rough and tumble today for my wife's birthday party and we're massively let down. I called 1 week in advance to inquire about a reservation because I had heard they don't do reservations. When i called a server told me they would have to check with the owner, Jen, which was no problem. I got a call back the next day that it was ok and we had a reservation set for Sunday at 10am for 12-14 people. Then I called again on Friday to make sure this was still ok - got the word that Jen said it was cool again. Cut to today - we show up at 10 with a lot of other guests to see the Iowa women's game. The staff and Jen acted like they had no idea my group was coming and clearly didn't label a table as reserved. We were put on the porch which was ok except Jen wouldn't give us enough tables for our group to be comfortable and the result was 14 people smushed together. Jen then went on to tell me and my group that R+T doesn't do reservations and that we were basically inconveniencing them. We were served coffee quickly which was nice but then other drink orders were slow and patchworky. The real issue is that we waited 2 hours + for our food and it came out one by one. The poor servers also didn't know what dish had what so one of my friends got beef when she asked for beyond meat. Our group ate as food came out but it wasn't together which was sad but also maybe a blessing because there would not have been enough space on our little tables for 14 plates. I could tell they were massively understaffed and I felt bad for the servers/2 cooks in the kitchen. I have empathy for being understaffed - however I dont think the owner of the business should push that awkwardness onto your guests The reason this is getting 2 stars instead of 3 was for how rude Jen was to us when we showed up, having a reservation get forgotten about entirely, and lastly, food for a photo shoot was coming out faster than food for tables around us. Maybe take care of your guests before advertisement? IMO. We might come back in the future but certainly with low expectations and definitely not as a group. Had a fantastic visit to R&T! The space has a great ambiance with lots of TVs, tables, and bar space. There are a couple pool tables also, it was very cute! The staff are super friendly and love chatting about women's sports. They were showing all kinds of games- women, men, hockey, lacrosse, basketball. They have it all! I love having a space that's not dominated by NFL games and is accepting of whatever sport you want to watch. So happy that there is a space like this! They also had lots of gluten free options which was great for my friend with celiac. Will definitely be back many times in the future! read more

What's going on lately at R&T? The servers are way more distracted. I keep seeing them gossiping behind the bar about someone. I appreciate that it is a casual spot and I hope that doesn't change but please stop talking about clients or other workers. Food quality has also dropped. Last two times we were there, the fries we got were cold. One time was after some peak hours so we didn't say anything but the second time, the place was just steady and we had to say something. They literally brought us the same fries after "heating them" in the same plate. I finally got to try the Bird (chicken sandwich) and it was okay. That's just my preference however. Lastly, we were charged some items from a different table two weeks ago. The server knew there was something wrong and she kept mumbling. I had to ask for the receipt because something felt wrong and to my surprise, I found out that they charged us for an extra dish. I am extremely disappointed lately as this is my favorite spot in Ballard for sports events and meetups. read more

I really, REALLY wanted to love this spot. the atmosphere is amazing for watching a game and have a few beers! If you're not concerned with food or service, then it's definitely worth a visit. Our service was great until we ordered food. After our food was dropped at the table our server didn't come back until our drinks had been empty for quite awhile and our food has long since been abandoned. had she come back, I likely would have sent my food back or tried to order something different. I had the chicken and waffle, which was the most disappointing thing I have eaten in a long time. The chicken was so over fried that even after I picked the breading off the chicken underneath was like rubber. The waffle was cold and tasted like it had been cooked early in the brunch shift and set aside. The chicken was not drained after coming out of the fryer so the spot where the chicken was on the waffle was a grease pool. Dont get me wrong, I ate the half of the waffle that wasn't greasy and the edible parts of the chicken after it was obvious the server wasn't coming back to check in with how it was. When she finally came back to the table, she still didn't ask how food was... despite the fact that both of our plates were less than half eaten. When I ordered a Bloody Mary she seemed slightly annoyed, or surprised? We finished our second round and left, after flagging her down to get our bill. To be fair, it was a busy day, so maybe it was a one-off experience? Based on this experience though, i don't think I'll be back, when there are plenty of alternatives near by. read more

We flew up to Seattle for Megan Rapinoe's jersey retirement game and knew Rough & Tumble was a MUST stop. We've been following on Instagram and were so excited to visit. We were NOT disappointed! The atmosphere was everything we hoped it would be, and the whole staff was super welcoming and helpful. We ordered a beer and their raspberry lemonade seltzer and the Syd & TP fried pickles to start. I had the chicken sandwich called "The Bird" and my partner had the B.L.A.T. Food was great and service was quick! The owner, Jen, was in the building and we got to chat with her for a couple minutes - super friendly. She was even helping deliver food and bussing tables. We stayed for several hours (and several drinks haha) and played the women's sports trivia on the table and just enjoyed the environment. They have other games available and two pool tables that are only $1.50/game. Tons of sports memorabilia to look at, and lots of seating. The bathrooms are all gender and have pads and tampons available for free. The one thing we talked about the most was how inclusive and welcoming the whole place is. Everyone feels safe to be themselves at Rough & Tumble. I wish we lived in Seattle - we'd be here all the time! read more

There were no women's sports games playing which felt odd. The food was fine, overpriced but fine. We had to get up and find the silverware, and noticed other tables doing the same. The staff were very friendly but after our table was cleared, our waitress never came back. After 45 minutes we were able to ask another waitress to pay and we could finally be on our way. read more

Amazing. Came on opening night and the service was excellent, the food was incredible, and we can't wait to come back. First of all, the tap list, albeit short, is one of the best varieties I've seen. Stoup, Holy mountain, Aslan all represented. Best of all, it's not just IPA's like every other bar in Seattle. Best burger I've had in a while, clearly using high quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. Might be weird to say, but I LOVE that in spite of the elevated menu they chose to have Heinz ketchup, and didn't choose an organic, or house-made version that no one actually likes. They did a good job renovating the space, and turned it into a great spot to watch a game and hang with friends. Women's and Men's sports both on, I cant wait for the Storm season to start. There is no better place to watch women's sports. Great vibes, decor is awesome and they are happy to put on whatever you want to watch. They hav ra great local beer, cider, wine list. Service is always good, they do billing European style, right at the table. I always appreciate that. If they have a place to improve, it's the food. It's good, but not great. We had the burger with fries and a Mexican chicken salad. The fries were the best part. The Mexican salad just lacked much flavor. With an avocado ranch dressing it should have had a ton of flavor. Previous visits have been similar. I expect it will improve over time. It's passable now and still worth a visit for everything else. read more
