A great evening of fun with plenty of variety in games - the only one I really wanted but didn't see was pinball. The floor space is about 50/50 claw machines and arcade games (with a larger area dedicated to billiards and bowling), but some of the arcade games are tucked behind the escalators so it feels like there's more claw machines. I don't understand why people are saying the claw machines are rigged because most have one prize placed you can aim the claw at without obstructions - makes it pretty cut and dry skill. Usually after a couple tries and figuring out the particulars of the claw and weight of the prize, you can get it. Some machines even have tips posted for how to win the item. Some items aren't shaped ideally for being grabbed, so steer clear of those machines - you can tell which ones are easier to get based on what you see people walking around with. read more

I had been eagerly awaiting the grand opening of Round 1 at Stonestown for years, so I made sure to visit on their first day. While there were definitely some exciting aspects, my overall experience left me with mixed feelings. First, let's talk logistics: The only entrance currently available is from the parking level, as the second-floor entrance is temporarily closed. This was a minor inconvenience but worth mentioning for anyone planning to visit. Walking in, it was clear that the grand opening had drawn a huge crowd, and the energy was palpable. People were excited, and there was a great buzz in the air with everyone enjoying the various games and activities. However, the venue itself is noticeably smaller--about two-thirds the size of other Bay Area Round 1 locations, like Concord and San Jose. Despite the smaller footprint, they've packed in all the usual attractions: bowling alleys, party rooms, karaoke booths, and a solid selection of arcade games. The variety was impressive, from classic American arcade games to Japanese rhythm games and crane machines. The prize redemption area also had a well-curated selection of items, which I appreciated. One of the standout perks is that they're open until 2 AM, even after the rest of Stonestown Mall closes. This late-night option is a big plus, especially in an area where there aren't many late-night activities, and I can see this drawing in a lot of customers looking for something to do after hours. Another surprise was the food area, which offers both American and Japanese items. This is the first Round 1 I've seen serving takoyaki and Japanese ramen, which is a nice touch for fans of Japanese cuisine. Now, for the downsides. The crowd was expected, but the long line to get or renew a game card was frustrating. They had an attendant filling out forms to try to streamline the process, but communication was an issue. I was told by one attendant that I could renew my game card from the San Jose location here, but when I got to the counter, the manager said otherwise. While I understand that grand openings can be chaotic, the manager's attitude left a bad taste. He was brief and stoic in his responses--maybe just overwhelmed by the opening day rush, but it felt dismissive. It wasn't the warm, enthusiastic service you'd hope for on a grand opening day. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only hiccup. When I finally got to the cashier to load money onto my game card, my form paper had $50 marked, but when I checked my receipt, I saw I'd been charged $110. Essentially, I'd been upsold without realizing it. Given the long lines, I didn't want to go back and deal with the hassle of fixing it, but it was disappointing. I didn't mind spending the extra money, but it was more the principle--and the lack of attention to detail--that bothered me. It left me questioning the training and communication between staff members. Overall, I'd definitely return to Round 1, but probably not as often as I originally thought I would. I was walking out at 12 and some security guard with I believe corn rows he looked like gelo ball said me and my friends look like we go to "diddy parties" this is actually unbelievably inappropriate he should be fired I don't fully remember if he had corn rows but if you search gelo ball you will know which security guard it is please do something about it. I had to satisfy my curiosity about this place. Yes, it's been here awhile, but I haven't actually had time to visit. So, today my family and I stepped in to see what goes on in here. I thought it was just a bowling alley. But, one step inside the door, and we were greeted with flashing lights and arcade noises. I can see the draw of the place. It is very well kept up, clean, etc. The bowling alley looks really nice with big screen TVs in front of each alley. I don't know if that would be a distraction, especially if a 49er game is on. lol But, it has burgers, hot dogs, etc. And I was blown away with 99 cent ice cream. Now, where in SF can you get a scoop of ice cream for that price. I am there. It looks like a great place for a kids (or adult party as they do have a bar) party. It's worth a visit!!! When Round 1 showed up at Stonestown it was amazing. Fair ticket prices, claw machine prices, and arcade prices. You could get some really nice stuff from the prize area for your tickets. As of 4/21 that changed. They doubled the prices of tickets for redemption. Something that cost 500 tickets now costs 1000+. If you were saving up for a big prize like 10000, it is now 20000. It went from fun to a rip off. Very disappointed. Round 1 was a great reason to start going to Stonestown again. Now, not so much. Way to ruin a great thing in such a short time. read more

One star is generous. Pros The games were fun and our 6 year old enjoyed the claw games. Cons The food and bar service was TERRIBLE. We waited an hour (have receipts to prove it) for pizza and dry chicken tenders. They sold out of burgers... so tenders it is. The bar experience was also comical. A "manager" checking IDs and tapping on their POS (don't know what he was tapping as he wasn't helping anyone at the time of the quick tapping) and one bartender staffed the bar with a line of 30 people deep. When it was our turn I provided feedback (admittedly harsh, but I was not aggressive or cursed) to the manager. He said "if I give him more attitude he would have my family thrown out". This after paying 70+ bucks on a reloaded game card. What a tiny clown. Games are fun but not a place to eat or drink... or provide feedback (I guess). read more

This review is based solely on the experience of trying to organize a class party. I have tried over the course of the last month to literally give them my money to book a time for a 6th grade class party and they are not capable. I have spoken to at least 4 different people on the phone, been told I have to schedule a time to come in and book with a manager (what century are we living in!), I have emailed twice per their request and received no response, I even called their corporate office to complain-spoiler alert, they neither cared nor could help. I'm not sure what kind of back of the house operation they are running, but if you want to book an event here, good luck! I finally gave up. STAY AWAY from the food; POOR FOOD HANDLING practices. When you 'pick up' your hot food, there's drama, major attitude from the employees. By 5 o'clock they had run out of fries. The pizza is 'not' real pizza. And they purposely doused our wings with so much salt, it was obvious someone was trying to convey something. I mean it was downright mean. Alcohol drinks made by someone on their first job. Ice cream scooped and presented by same person handling money. The experience here at Stonestown is to be avoided. I was so excited when this Round1 opened. My kids love it and there is so much to do between the bowling, the claw machines and all the ticket games. The ice cream is a big hit. Customer service is beyond awful, ruined our entire experience. We visited for the first time the day after Christmas, and were excited to have a fun family excursion. We ended up purchasing a $120 pack for 777 credits for our 2 kids. We wanted them to be able to run around on their own so asked ahead of purchasing if they'd be able to split the credits into 2 cards. The clerk said yes, no problem. We even did the math and said - "so each card will have about 388 credits?" - he confirmed. We purchased the credits and went along our way, only to find out that each card only had about 300 credits. We went back to ask them to adjust them, they pulled in the "supervisor" and they offered no apology, no refund, no accountability. We felt ripped off and frustrated. They even tried to blame us for having used the cards - because if we hadn't used them, they could have adjusted it (but how could we have known?). It was a tough situation to be in with our kids. We were baffled by their inflexibility. I called to file a ticket (#919495) with their corporate office as well, I recommend it for anyone who has a bad experience - their phone support team was awesome 855-772-6636. Hopefully someone looks into this location there are an abundance of bad reviews re: service among many other things. Such a shame because we were so excited to have this open near us. read more

I am a 47 year old man and went there with coworkers after a business dinner and was denied entry due to one of us having a legal nicotine vap in his pocket with no intent of using while indoors. Ridiculous treatment by security. The emporium was more than happy to allow us entry and spend our total entertainment per diem of $1000. Eagerly I wanted to come here. I brought my kid here for her birthday 11/1/2010 The security at the door one of them a Indian or latino appearing man with grey hair had wand my 14yr old daughter down which I thought was weird and inappropriate. He wand the front and back of her only. I was wand down by a African American security who was super professional and ask how old my he kids I had with me and I let him know the age and he stated it was ok and they were okay to walk in. The other security on the other hand singled out my daughter only and wand her down with the metal detector. Someone needs to look into him because it made us uncomfortable. Due to it being my daughter's birthday we entered anyway. Aside from that everything else was fine, but that situation lingers now and was weird and odd. You can check the cameras. TLDR: DO NOT order the pizza or any of the hot food. Pizza was RAW DOUGH and the chicken kaarage had a hint of pink. Sent it back -- 2nd try was STILL UNCOOKED dough and questionable chicken kaarage. Do not risk it or just look really really closely at what you're eating to make sure that it's COOKED. My friends and I went on Saturday evening to bowl. With a group of 6, we planned on bowling for about 2 hours before heading out to eat, except we found out that the prices for a 2 hour game was WAY more expensive than the 1 hour pricing. We assumed it would be the price per lane, aka $37.50 (according to their price chart, which you can find on their website). Except they told us for 2 hours, the total was $270~. It would've been about $45/person versus the 1 hour being a total of ~$70, rounding to about $12/person. No idea how adding an hour would 4x the price. Instead, we opted to do the 1 hour and join the waitlist in the midst of our game. Bowling was fun, can't go wrong with bowling. The lanes are a bit slick so you're not getting the kinds of spins that you might with a typical lane, but it was only a week since grand opening so, I'll give it time to find its footing. But since we had to split up our bowling time, we decided to try out the food while we waited for our 2nd reservation to start. Which would've been nice if we didn't spend close to 30 minutes in line. Wait time is exaserbated by the fact that only 1 register was open. With the food, my friends and I decided on a large pepperoni pizza and the regular chicken kaarage. Granted -- the line was long and I assume they're still figuring out how to work efficiently in the kitchen given the fact that it's still about a week since grand opening (at the time we went) -- the food took about half an hour to get to us. At this point, we're bowling. So 2 of us had to leave the bowling lane and grab our food. Now, I myself did not eat the pizza and chicken because my friends told me DO NOT EAT IT. Do not be fooled by the cheese -- it was sitting on top of uncooked pizza dough. We split open the chicken to see if that was cooked, some of us thought we saw some pink in it. No way we were eating either of those. We talked to an employee that about our food and they said they'll get someone to help. A manager came over and asked us what was happening. We told him that the pizza was cold and uncooked, same with the chicken. He told us that was sorry about that and would bring it over to the kitchen. He came back and told us our order would be ready in about 20 minutes, either our number would be called again or we can head to the pick up area in 20 minutes to get it. Just shy of 20 minutes, the manager came back to us and let us know that our order was ready. 2 of us went to grab it, 1 of them noting that the pizza actually felt hot! Yay, success, hopefully? The bottom crust of the pizza was cooked. I took a bite and was....unsure? The pizza crust was cooked and so was the bottom, but it seemed really cheesy? Like super soft on top. I chalked it up to them putting a ton of cheese on top, but as the rest of our group started taking bites...it became obvious that it was uncooked dough in the middle. I took a napkin and peeled off the cheese on an untouched slice -- lo and behold, UNCOOKED DOUGH. Poked it, pulled it, yup. Uncooked dough. Not cheese like we thought. Sure could have fooled us if we weren't paying attention. Now that the pizza was AGAIN uncooked, now our suspicions were on the chicken. Pulled apart a couple, it hard to tell with the lighting in the bowling area. But the fact that the first batch was not cooked and the pizza was left uncooked TWICE. We were not risking it. ESPECIALLY because it was chicken. At this point, none of us wanted the food. I just wanted a refund. We brought the food back to the ordering area ourselves. The line at this point was starting to wrap around itself, so we couldn't make it to the pick up area, but we saw an employee with a clipboard, figured he could do something about this. I explained to him that our food is not coming out cooked. He says "Well you guys ate like half of it, so I don't what I can do. Let me get my supervisor." ?? We did not eat half, half was UNTOUCHED. The other half was us taking bites to figure out what the hell was going on. Supervisor comes out, I explain to him what's going on. It's our 2nd batch, it's not cooked. He explains to me that the pizza dough wasn't thawed completely and they only realized that when putting it through the oven. As for the chicken, they're only following instructions and they can't open the chicken to check. ????? Are you trying to EXPLAIN to me why you're food is uncooked? Even had the audacity to ask me "What do you want me to do?" I told him I just wanted a refund. He gave it to me but the customer service from the management at this location is horrible. I recently visited Round 1 with my friend and our two toddlers (21 months old), and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. From the moment we walked in, the staff gave us judgmental looks, even though the place was practically empty on a Monday afternoon. My toddler was simply excited by the bright colors and machines, and when she curiously climbed onto a sturdy game, I immediately took her off. Despite this, two young female employees--one Latina and one Black, both around their mid-20s--seemed to be looking for any excuse to kick us out. They hovered around us, making us feel unwelcome as if we were causing trouble, which we absolutely were not. My children are well-behaved, and we always visit without issue, but this time, we were treated with unnecessary hostility. If you have young children, I do not recommend coming here. The staff clearly lacks empathy and professionalism, acting more like the "fun police" rather than employees of a family-friendly establishment. It's disappointing that a place meant for fun would allow such unwelcoming and rude employees to ruin the experience for families. read more

I visited Round 1 for the first time on MLK Day with my family and my daughter's friend. We spent an hour enjoying the games before heading to the kiosk to order some food. After waiting another hour, we went to the counter to check on the status of our order. To our surprise, not only had they run out of chicken tenders, but no one informed us, or anyone who was there. While the staff was polite, the management was extremely rude when handling the situation- which ended up with us waiting 2 HOURS FOR CHICKEN SANDWICHES!!! Ultimately, we had to request a refund and decided to leave without ordering anything else. The overall experience with management was very disappointing, although the rest of the staff was great. Been to this location quite a few times with friends and least to say this experience we had last night was truly upsetting. We usually go for billards and karaoke; to celebrate Lunar New Year, we decided to do karaoke. We went to the stand and we asked if there was a current wait time for the karaoke rooms. The person at the counter first said "The wait will be 15 minutes". Shortly after, her answer changed and said "The wait will be about 20-30 minutes because we need to clean the room after the last party leaves". We were not worried about the wait and we were able to get ourselves on the waitlist. We got the text that we were on the waitlist at 11:50PM at 12:26 AM, we got 5 texts in a row mentioning the room was ready and that we were able to begin the karaoke session. Upon entering the room, we found that the room was left dirty with cups and glasses from the previous party which was puzzling to us because the worker at the counter said they would "clean up" after them before we headed into the room. No biggie, it was just disappointing that they had told us one thing and didn't follow up with what they had said. Fast forward, the time written on our receipt was 1:38AM and around 1:30Ish, the worker came in told us something that we were unable to hear and basically kicked us out of the room. This was the same worker that helped us out in the front and what they did felt extremely rude to us. Not only did they yell/say something incoherently, they turned on the lights, opened all the doors and started cleaning up the leftover mess from the previous party all while we were still grabbing our things to head out. Not even a mention of "Thank you have a good night!" but rather just an attitude of "Get out, your time is up, we're closing soon, and I need to clean." We might have mistaken the time for something else, like I mentioned, the receipt said 1:38. Overall, the lack of customer service leaves guests unsatisfied with the feeling of being welcome and cared for while using the facilities and as constant customers this was the first experience where it was terribly bad and if we return, we would not want to experience a second time. Another note to mention is that we did come late knowing they were closing at 2. We did have karaoke sessions beforehand where they weren't rude in letting us know our time is up and we're even kind enough to let us finish our last song. Overall, there are a few gears that definitely need to be switched up looking through a customer lens as kicking us out mid song, turning on the lights and not saying a word to us as we leave is unjustifiably rude and inconsiderate. Literally don't go here! Drive to SJ, or drive up north because what a scam! We've visited many Round 1's from the ones in Norcal to the ones out of state and never have we ever been to one that had as horrible a payout as this one. After hearing a Round 1 was opening in our hometown, we were excited to try it. We spent over $100 and did not win much. A lot of the payout claws don't grab at all regardless how much you try. We'd watch other play it so many times and then we would play it many times as well; still nothing. We eventually left deciding it was a lost cause to play here and we'll definitely take out money elsewhere. Staffing also could use more training; I reloaded $110 and she failed to give me the gift that came with it. Seeing that there was a line, I just left since we'd rather spend time actually playing than holding up the line. Overall a super disappointing trip, and a true waste of such a great location. I really hope they work on this because it's in such a prime area and again a total waste that it cannot be enjoyed. We will not be back unfortunately. read more

The arcade games are litmited and some are even out of service already! The food court line is outrageous slow! Spent 30 mins lined up for order and 30 mins wait for pick up, however the food is alright good! This trip along with the in-laws, 3 kids spent $500 plus for about 4 hrs stay. I walked out of there feeling being scammed and robbed! This place gave me a "visit once and never go back" vibe! It's packed on opening weekend so keep that in mind. The arcade games are fun and I won one thing at a claw machine so don't feel too burned like everyone else. Personally, I only spend about $30 bucks at arcades since I can get better video game entertainment at my house but whatever it's for social hangouts. Games that did work were decent but the usual, air hockey, Mario kart, shooting games etc. Food is not worth it here, just get something at the mall somewhere, it will be a better experience overall. I didn't get anything but just take a look at the state of the workers in the kitchen and it will tell you enough. The bar line is comically large because they check wristbands and you can only get one drink. The bartenders are new to pouring and go at a snails place or ring you up slowly. On a Friday night, you should have at least two bar tenders and probably not give off the vibe that you don't want people to drink a lot. I don't really get it. I promise you don't need beefed up armed security with wands for an arcade at Stonestown in the sunset, but even if you do they don't need to be douches that can't even greet you to get into an ARCADE. Vibe killer right when you get in. Really it's the worst of suburban America on display, SF deserves better. read more
