Had really high expectations for this restaurant because of how eye-catching the place was and how extensive the menu looked - but the food definitely missed the mark for us :( We ended up ordering three items to share: 1. Lobster roll - the market price when we ordered was ~$30, which honestly was one of the more affordable prices I'd seen for lobster rolls around the area. It also came with a side of fries and two choices of sauces in addition to garlic butter, so we got the "bam bam" (a bit like chipotle mayo but lighter) and lemon mayo sauces. The roll was thick and soft and the lobster tasted fresh and had a light coating of sauce. Overall, our favorite item that we tried! 2. Baked scallops: avoid at all costs!! Definitely not worth the $23 we spent!! The scallops came in a tiny box (there were probably 5 at most) and barely any crumb topping (see picture). They were tasty but literally looked like half a portion of an appetizer, instead of an entree that we had been expecting. (The picture on the online ordering site is definitely a bit misleading imo). The side of mashed potatoes were decent. 3. Seafood pizza: definitely more worth than the baked scallops, and even cheaper! For $20, you get a decently sized pie with honestly a lot of seafood, including pieces of lobster, scallop, and shrimp. I honestly wish we'd ordered another seafood pizza instead of the baked scallops item. Our only gripe was the actual cook of the pizza - there were parts where the dough was completely undercooked and missing the alfredo sauce/cheese, which was pretty tasty and paired well with the seafood. read more

Good service, expansive menu. The onion ring stack was huge. My daughter and I shared the chicken quesadilla. Husband had the Cuban. Kids had pizza and a grilled cheese. Called ahead but there was no wait. The restaurant was decorated in nostalgic signage and tchotchkes. read more

This place has appetizers figured out. Ordered the buffalo cauliflower and it was DELICIOUS. The slaw with the cauliflower was so good we didn't stop talking about it the whole meal. If we visit Bar Harbor again we'll skip the entrees and each have our own buffalo cauliflower! Lobster bisque (not pictured) was also very good and was served as an app by request. Mains were good but didn't blow us away as much as the starters. The homestyle Mac could use more cheese sauce and the jackfruit tacos were a welcomed vegetarian change but only ranked a 6.5/10. Too much acid not enough sweetness (change the cabbage to the slaw and pickled onions to fresh and you have a winner). Staff were incredibly kind from the moment we met the hostess, onto our server (Tessie) and the food runner who brought out our apps! We caught them on their last night before closing for the season. A few things weren't available but there were plenty of good choices. We started with Retro Fries. Yum! On the idea of baked potato skins but cheesier. My dining partner and I got a Cobb Salad and a Caesar Salad with salmon. Both were delicious and generous The staff was all friendly and pleasant. They all seemed to help each other out happily. The decor was so fun. Lots to look at and marvel over. We are glad we found it on out getaway weekend. Check it out next season. read more

Pretty delicious food in a cool restaurant! A lot of 50's and 60's signage and items around, fun to just observe everything while you wait for the food! I had the chicken and waffles and the waffles were fluffy and full of flavor and the chicken was nice and crispy! The star of the show though was the "Maine Poppims" though that we had as an app! Went to this restaurant as I had friends in town and have never been! Should've left the moment the waiter came up and was so rude. I know it's hard to believe reviews when they are harsh on the staff because trust me I use to work in the industry and know people can be so hard to wait on. We were seated very quickly. Loved all the vintage stuff to look at. The Dead End burger was enormous. We got the onion rings as appetizer. They were thick cut and plenty of them. Several in our party got the BLAT sandwich. They said it was very good, but lettuce was plentiful and a lot of it. My husband got the boiled lobster and enjoyed it. I got the Seafood Newburg. Worst meal experience I've experienced in quite a while. Ordered an Old Fashioned and a Cosmopolitan to start. Neither drink had any alcohol. Cosmo was almost exclusively cranberry juice according to the wife and three sips of my drink were all I could stand. Ordered lobster dip and split the lobster carbonara. Dip came first and was ok. I'm being generous. The lobster in the carbonara was so chewy it was hard to get down. Waitress talked so softly we could hardly hear. Never asked how anything was even though we didn't drink 1/4 of either drink or eat 1/3 of the entree even though we shared. There was a reason that there was a wait to dine everywhere else and they were only 1/2 full. Should have known. read more

We're a party of 11 people, so the fact that Route 66 quickly handled our reservation, delivered consistently delicious food, and gave us delightfully welcoming and personable service really made our week. Every single appetizer and meal gave us a great time! (in fairness we did order a lot of lobster.) The steamed lobster ($38) was also the third-lowest price around among 11 restaurants downtown, which isn't bad at all. The owner Mat is also really sweet! He helped give us information on our lobster's condition and offered to wash out the tamale's discoloration for my uncle. Boiled 1 ¼ lb Maine Lobster: - Exceptional quality steamed right. Lovely hard shell too, and none of the meat inside had shrunk. We went to a couple lobster places, and only Bar Harbor Lobster Company could impress us all on a similar level. I always choose mashed potatoes with my meal, and these were awesome. Three days later i reheated them and they were pretty good in the hotel room LOL. Fried Pickles - My sibling has been fixated on trying these... strange pickled snacks... out ever since we were 30,000 feet up in the air flying to Maine. We really liked them! There's no way we'd have the motivation to make these at home, though. So that was awesome. - There's a running joke now because we warned our aunts it was sour. This was a super cute place! The inside decor is pretty amazing. And they have an eye soy game for the kids. Their menu is reminiscent of a diner, like the milkshakes they have. When dining in Bah Habah there's no shortage of places to eat. I've tried many so rather than repeating I tried this longtime eatery on a busy Saturday. Tucked away on Cottage street the distinctive decor greets you outside and a pleasant hostess sat us in a booth for two. Our server was fast and friendly as the tables began to fill. Tall stained glass windows tell you this was a church long ago and the place is full of stuff to look at while waiting for food. Thankfully they serve Coke, not Pepsi! And I got a pint of draft cider; cold and delicious. Chicken Cobb salad was good but $25 for the fish and chips was too expensive imo. I would recommend this restaurant but took away one star for using single serve plastic. read more

This place is set back from the street and a bit difficult to find. We were there in the off-season, so some of it was not open. It is filled with memorabilia and kitsch from the 50s and 60s. It was so fun to look around and take pictures! The food we had was delicious. The fries were even served in a miniature fry basket. The bread for the patty melt was baked fresh in the kitchen that morning! The clam chowder was thick and loaded with clams! The service was quick and our server was friendly. I'm on the fence on Route 66... On the one hand, it's a tourist trap. It's Applebee's decor to an extreme, and the menu itself isn't fantastic. It has the staples of burgers, soups, and salads, but it doesn't scream "I am sitting less then a mile from the ocean!" It could be mistaken for a restaurant menu in the interior of the United States. Most of the tables are booths. But on the other, the waitress was cool and kept the refills coming. The food had good flavor, and a good place to get out of the chill (or in the summer, humidity) and amuse your party with a game of Eye Spy. This is best played on the second floor when you have a better vantage point. Also, the building used to be something (I suspect a church) so the architecture is interesting. read more

So if you are needing a break from the craziness of Bar Harbor find this hidden gem. We wanted away from the main drag of cottage street. As we were walking toward our car we saw 5is little place off the main road. We walked right in and were seated right away. The food will make certain you don't leave hungry. I got the old timer burger and my wife got the BLAT ( BLT with Avocado) both were huge and fresh. They came out with a huge basket of fries. Note of caution, if you have ADD this place will have your eyes getting tired. I be.I've the building is a church with a soda shop, and enough car, coke and 60s memento's to make any collector jealous. Would definitely recommend. The rating is not for service at all! The food- we had the onion rings for an appetizer and those were decent! Could've use a bit more seasoning or time in the fryer but I didn't mind them. I had a burger with BBQ sauce and onions. It was just a burger, nothing special. I ordered it medium and it really wasn't medium, more medium well (everyone has their opinion on this). And my SO had the fish tacos and they just weren't good.. I TRIED to like them but with having seafood almost all weekend, these were not the best. They were very fishy and nothing seemed to go together on the tacos. I would say to try to explore other options. read more
