Had just tried another breakfast place that had terrible customer service so decided let's try this place. Wow not only is the food on point but the customer service was phenomenal. There were 2 young ladies working the floor and they didn't skip a beat. Our waitress (Isabella) was so friendly even when the customer at the table next to us was more than demanding she kept a smile. This is no easy task. The blueberry, pecan pancakes are soooo yummy. In my world, the R in Rox Diner is short for Rebecca. She's fantastic, and a perfect compliment to the savory and memorable food. The menu was incredible. So many choices made it difficult to choose. Very popular place on weekends. We had to wait for a while to be sitted even after using online yelp wait list. The place is very busy. We had to wait for our food for about 40 minutes or so. We told our waiter, Bobby that we were in a hurry, so he rushed the kitchen and we got our food faster than than we could've been waiting for. My wife and I have been going to Rox for years and it always serves delicious food in a friendly chill neighborhood environment. The servers are all great, upbeat, attentive and fast. The Rox got us through the years of pandemic when the kids were back home and we tried to get them through it as well. It's been years since I created Yelp for the sole purpose of giving this place one star. Recently I was in the mood for brunch, and my friends said she would pick it up to go and I reluctantly agreed because hey, it's been years maybe they just had a bad day that one time and they're actually great. Nope. So the first thing the person who picks up the phone for the order says is "it's gonna be at least 30 minutes so if you can't wait that long then I can't help you." Who the heck ANSWERS the phone like that??? Already with the flashbacks of the deplorable customer service from my first visit. We proceed with the order since it was Sunday at a breakfast place, we knew we would have to wait a bit. The employee continues to be extremely rude the whole ordering experience. We ordered an omelette and 2 avocado bennys. Obviously it's covid so this was take out, so I can't testify to any dining experience. However, they said 30 minutes... we ended up waiting 56 minutes. Oh and of course the omelette was wrong. And missing toast. I think it's a slap in the face to the brunch world to have a section of your menu titled "all about the bennys" and give one drop of sauce per egg. Like why are you so stingy with it? At least it wasn't burned this time, and the potatoes were good. Everything was also ice cold upon pick up even though we were early to pick it up. ice cold eggs, yum- said no one ever. I really like this place, great atmosphere and great food, but I have had several bad take-out experiences in a row. I just got a simple omelette, black coffee and orange juice which cost $22. No fork and knife in the package, no straw for the OJ which is in one of those containers that requires a straw, no napkin, no jam for the toast. I asked for extra butter on the toast and it came with the usual meager amount of butter. The toast was both burnt and cold. The quality is usually good, so the prices are exorbitant, but these details matter if you're charging that much. I reached out via their contact form on the website several times, never get a response. I think I'm moving on. Update: I tried ONE LAST TIME and the omelette was undercooked and gross (couldn't eat more than 3 bites), bread was stale and the potatoes were part raw w no flavor at all. I'm ready to accept that Rox Diner has just gone waaaay downhill. read more

So nice we went here twice! The wife and I are on vacation and were looking for a diner for breakfast, found this place, and were delighted. The food was amazing, the service was fast, and parking was nearby. All of which are important to me, particularly the parking lot next to the restaurant, it made dining here easy. I ordered the big rig with blueberry pecan mascarpone pancakes and they were friggin amazing. Tons of blueberries and pecans and the mascarpone took it over the top. 10/10 would recommend read more

I had high hopes for this dinner as i'm new to the area and have heard pleasing things about it in the past. However, I can confidently say I won't be back. The service was horrible and it was very cramped. Usually I wouldn't mind waiting 30+mins to be seated as long as I can leave saying that I thoroughly enjoyed my meal but that wasn't the case. The food was decent at best. However definitely not worth the price. The utensils were not clean and had food residue still on them! I sent it back and I cant say for certain but i'm pretty sure they just wiped off the old food with a damp cloth because it still wasn't that clean when I got "new" utensils. The staff was not friendly and and took forever to do anything. It seemed as if they cared about getting you out of there as soon as possible rather than making sure a costumer enjoys their dining experience. read more

The waffles are listed as Belgian and they are the smaller variety, which still counts! Ate here with my wife on 2/5/22. The interior was no frills, and could use a little touch up, decorating, and some paint. We looked up at the ceiling fans and couldn't believe how dirty and caked on the dirt and dust was. Luckily its winter and they weren't blowing down on us. A health department disaster. The waitresses walk around in sweat pants, black tights. They look as though they just rolled out of bed. But on the other hand they were nice and polite and the service prompt. Although im not a fan of a waitress plopping down the bill on the table and saying "When you're ready" while you're still eating and feeling rushed. And the place was not busy at all. This is day and night from what we've experienced in Europe. Now in regard to the food. We ordered the $6.50 breakfast with 2 eggs and the quality was good. Not greasy at all. Me and my man have been going here as usuals for a while, and it's still our go-to!! Where other places have lost quality, or have lost the good experience, Rox is consistent at delivering the Diner-feel as well as delicious and filling food. I also have Crohn's Disease, which disallows me from eating gluten or dairy. No problem!! At Rox, they offer a complement for Gluten-free toast and the like, and while meat is sometimes a problem in my diet, they also offer veggie options which has been amazing and a godsend. Check out their other locations around the Boston West area! The Toast Office in Westwood, the Grateful Diner in Dedham Square, and Rox Diner in Newtonville!! All are wonderful locations!! And the staff helps out over all of them, so they will always recognize a usuals face. read more
