Today I order from Uber Eats and did not receive my full order. I order teriyaki short ribs platter with Side of Mac Salad and Kimchi paid extra for that and never received my side orders. While the service was really good, the food unfortunately was not. I ordered the chicken salad with a side of rice. The salad was in large pieces that were too big to really fit on a fork. The crispy bits on the salad were good but they didn't give me any dressing! Also the chicken was alright but not really anything special. The rice side was very small and was only a single scoop. This was my first time at this Roxy's location and had amazing service and food ! I went On a Saturday afternoon and they were quick and friendly. The food was warm , delicious, and good portions. I got the chicken katsu and my friend got the shoyu chicken and we shared shared family style . It was his first time at Roxy and he loved it and loved this location. The Katsu was fresh , warm , and crispy. The shoyu was equally as delicious. The spam musubi were good too. They are premade though but good . The outdoor seating is nice for summer/warm days . Perfectly set in front of a small walkable lake. I came in for some Hawaiian chicken and was not disappointed. Find the entrance at the backend of the building and walk in to nice people working behind the counter. Lots of options to choose from, plenty of parking space on the side as well. We have been to this place several times in the past, but this was the first time in quite a while. We ordered the Kalbi Chicken. We remembered it as being really good, but this time the chicken was on the dry side; not as flavorful as I remember; and it was skimpy on the sauce over the chicken. I asked if they had ice for our cups of water, but they said they didn't have any (only restaurant I know that doesn't have ice). They also do not have a soft drink fountain, so if you want a soft drink, you pay $3 for a bottle. Oh, if you pay by credit card, it asked if you want to tip. This is not a complaint about Roxy specifically, but it seems like you shouldn't tip anything until you see how the food is and more importantly how good the service is (ordering, time it takes for the food to be ready, if they get the order right, etc.). If you don't tip upfront, then you wonder if that influences what kind of service you eventually get. Next time, I will wait to tip them until I see how good the food is and the quality of the service. read more

Roxy's food slaps every...single...time. They're relentless with their consistency. Could my wife & I go spend $60 eating at a restaurant somewhere? Sure. But if we're in a pinch and want something that hits the spot we split a plate for less than $15 and this fills 2 people up consistently. Let's start with good impression. Plenty of menus at different eye levels and different areas of the restaurant. All consistent and easy to follow. Pictures and descriptions of the food. You order when you move to the end of the the counter. Pet peeve incoming. Then you're met with the come to the counter to pick up your food and here just answer this tip question. How about no? I move to the condiment bar. This is not the restaurants issue. Multiple customers ahead of me are acting like looters in a California high end Department Store. Filling bags and containers seemingly as many as they can stuff into two three bags. Are they there for the sauces or the food? Fast forward they receive one order. Just a comment on society. Next I had ordered the Spam rice seaweed wrap. Hawaiian food right. Go with the experience right? It's wrapped so tightly in plastic wrap I can barely tell. So it wasn't grilled it was microwaved. IMO ruining the crunch and creating a tear into the plastic wrap and ruin the wrap experience. Disappointed does not cover it. Next my entree comes out. Todd pick up for Todd. Yeah this is where the tip was supposed to come in. First it's the wrong order. Hey I ordered this. Oh sorry and walk back into the kitchen was the response given. Ok I'm easy going It's still in the same meat family. I get back to the table with our order. You want to know what I notice first? No heat coming from the plate. Cold meat. Luke warm rice that is sitting around in a pressure cooker and scooped out as ordered. The potato salad was cold as it should be. A very small non Hawaiian portion. Smaller than the rice portion. It's clearly non remodeled with theme and colors from another restaurant. Hard to say I would be back given it's odd location and difficulty in winding around to get to the front of the restaurant. My family and I love Roxy's Island Grill. You get a ton of food for the value which includes your meat, rice, and macaroni salad (depending on the dish you get of course). The most common dishes we order the teriyaki chicken, garlic, chicken, and the beef. Staff is always friendly and quick. Great place for Hawaiian food. I personally always get the pineapple chicken as it is super crispy and I like the balance of flavors. Also 2 scoops of mac salad is a mandatory adjustment you should make on your order. I knocked it down a star because I feel like recently they have been giving less food. Roxys is the staple for Hawaiian style food in the Portland area. I don't believe they are the most authentic options but they are widely liked by everyone. My personal favorite is the galbi chicken as well as the sweet garlic chicken. I wish they had fountain drinks here but they only have bottles. Make sure to get double mac and the rice is a little dry while their Mac salad is delicious. read more

We went to this Tualatin Commons location because of its easy on and off access from the I-5...As we parked the car, we noticed that a lot of people were walking in and out of this place, which was a very good sign for us...Sure enough, when we walked inside there were 6 people in front of us...the service to take the order was quick and efficient and the wait for the food was minimal...we loved the decor and the ambience of the place...Brother Iz Hawaiian music playing over the speakers and tastefully decorated contemporary hawaiian themed decor...not the decor from Elvis' Blue Hawaii... And the food...My wife ordered the Chicken Katsu Plate (Breaded Panko Chicken Deep Fried) and I ordered the Poster Child of Hawaiian Style Plate Lunches...The Loco Moco (Hamburger Patty, 2 Easy Over Eggs over a bed of rice and covered all in gravy)...Each Standard plate comes with 2 scoops of rice and Macaroni Salad, but Roxy's has a very liberal substitution policy for their sides, where you can easily substitute the rice & mac salad for green salad and or veggies...whatever your dietary needs desire. My wife gave me a great analogy while eating her Chicken Katsu..."If you close your eyes and taste the food, you think you are sitting at a local diner in the Islands, not in the Willamette Valley"... My Loco Moco plate hit the spot as far as homesick cravings are concerned...I really liked the Mac Salad for its authentic Hawaii taste, without being overburdened with Mayonnaise. This place used to be good for big eats at reasonable price. Unfortunately much like other businesses have started doing since Covid. -it seems like the prices increased, while the food quantity got smaller. I used to pay 7 bucks for a big shoyu chicken plate. I usually go to a Roxys location in Milwaukie OR, but I was out shopping in close to this one and thought I'd give it a shot. I really enjoyed the location by the water as it was a very nice day to eat outside. I got the kaluha pork as I always do and it was consistent to the location I frequent. Absolutely delicious.
