I've never had the pleasure of visiting Hawaii but everyone tells me this is a close as it gets to some of Hawaii's food. A short wall of pictures right before the register allows customers to not only read the names and ingredients but to see pictures of the menu items. I ordered the Saimin, a udon noodle like soup with seafood. I didn't notice much seafood but it was a dang good bowl of soup. Full of flavor and warmth I couldn't help but to ignore my company and devour the bowl. read more

I've been to practically all locations of Roxy's. This particular one is not even 5 minutes away from my job. I've been here a few times with co workers or to grab food to go after work. Food is decent at this location. The chicken isn't as juicy as other locations. I always get the half teriyaki chicken/ half garlic chicken. Sometimes, I ask for a spam musubi! Employees are sort of hit or miss. Some are pleasant and helpful, while others could care less that your trying to order food. Most seem to be high schoolers - I get it! There's a good amount of tables, space to eat. As well as soon seats outside I believe They have free water / cups. Condiments,napkins and utensil area. Wait time - is about the same at all locations. Hit or miss, sometimes super fast other times Make take a bit especially if there's a lot of customers - as expected. Decent parking space! read more

I missed a UYE Lunch here a few months ago and have been wanting to visit this restaurant ever since. Finally, today I remembered to stop by when I noticed that I had cash on hand. Roxy's unfortunately still has not received their card reader and is cash only. Let's talk Kalbi Chicken. It is a Korean dish normally, but Hawaii being a melting pot of all Asian culture has adopted it and carried on a fine tradition of serving the dish Hawaiian style. Obviously, I had the Kalbi Chicken, and it was really good, but let's go back to moments after I walked in the door... When you walk through the door you are met with a fairly stark white interior. There are some tasteful decorations here and there and a delightful Hawaiian tune was coming through the speakers. You approach the counter and see simmering meats right in front of you, only a pane of glass separates you from nirvana (the place, not the band). Behind the counter was a delightful woman who, even though I told her I knew what I wanted, plied me with free samples of many of the dishes offered. I stuck to my guns and ordered the Kalbi, even though the pork dish and the teriyaki really tasted great. I mentioned really enjoying macaroni salad and immediately I was offered the choice of exchanging one lump of rice for another macaroni salad. Not being a fool, I grabbed that offer. As I sat waiting for lunch a mixture of Hawaiian and Jamaican music came over the speakers. I watched ducks go about their duck business in the man-made lake and slurped down some Diet Pepsi. Out came lunch, and lots of it! Along with two more meat samples and a sample of their Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Can you say, "Customer for life", boys and girls? All for $6.75 (with soda)! Every time I have been there in the past it was great and the one time you serve my baby girl and me COLD BEEF TERIYAKI IS TODAY! You have to be careful so people don't get sick. Hawaiian food is always one of my favorites. I usually go for Kalua pork but my first time to Roxys I decided to try garlic chicken. I was shocked with how good it was! They give you so much food that I'm able to make two meals out of it and two days of Roxys in my stomach is a good day to me. I have been to several locations but personally like this one the best. I've been trying my best to support local while in quarantine and Roxy's is definitely one of them. Located by the Tualatin Commons, Roxy's serves a nice collection of Hawaiian food. I've been here countless times alongside coworkers and we all agree this is a solid place to grab a quick bite to eat. My go to is their shoyu chicken. The garlic chicken isn't bad either. Each plate comes with two scoops of rice, one scoop macaroni salad and generous amounts of meat. I always end up having enough left overs for dinner. If you're ordering their kalbi ribs there might be a longer wait. We waited for around 15 min before ours were ready. If you stop by early enough, you might get lucky enough to get their spam musubi. They pre make everything ahead of time and only make a select amount per day so once they're out, they're out. Place is quite small so dine in option isn't available to respect social distancing guidelines, but there are plenty of outdoor seating available around the commons. This place is amazing. The food never disappoints. The only concern I have is they have made their portions smaller and prices. Update: came here 6-30-18 at about 11:30. I use to be a regular, the food is usually very good but my last few visits have not gone well. Both times I arrived shortly before closing and was denied service. Even thought the door was open and the Clerk acknowledged that it was before 8 PM but they wouldn't serve me. I'm not sure why they have a posted close time when in fact they seem to close quite a while before 8. I wasn't trying to dine in, just wanted take out but both times. All I got a shrugged shoulder, followed with "we're already closed" My advice, if you have an hunger for this food and it's anywhere near there closing time. Don't bother. Just a small local place but the lunch special was very good and at a fair price, definitely would recommend and visit again.

Katie has terrible customer service. They gave us 1/2 of an order which equates to 5 pieces of chicken and a scoop of rice instead of shoyu and garlic chicken. Called and didn't care besides it was a mistake. Time and time again they mess up orders and don't care. It's sad because I support my local Hawaiian businesses, but it's time to give up on this one. Local feel | yay, Hawaiian food! $ Good atmosphere that definitely reminds me of Hawaii. Lots of high schoolers hit this place up, or at least when we went there were a lot. Take a look at their menu! Great choices to choose from. YES, they do have kalua pig even though it's not on their menu. They have it written somewhere else, and if you're still unsure just ask them. It comes with two scoops of rice and macaroni salad. I had their kalua pork and my husband had their shoyu chicken. Shoyu chicken is delicious. Good stuff. Kalua pig was alright. I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but it was more on the dry and more salty side. I'm willing to go and try it out again. We went when it was busy, so the tables were dirty and there was food on the floor. One trash bin was overflowing, and my husband notified one of the staff members who just acknowledged it was at full capacity. Twice now I am disappointed with this Roxy's. I came in on my lunch and ordered a two meat to go with double veggies and 1 Mac. The two meats were supposed to be Charsui Chicken and Garlic Chicken. First, I said to go and they put it on an ear in plate. After changing the containing, I got to work and looked at my lunch. Not happy. I would say they gave me Kalbi Chicken - not Charsui chicken and with that 5 small bite sized pieces of Garlic Chicken. One serving of vegetables and a small scoop of Mac. I had more food at the farmers market last night for $8 than what they have included for $9. I don't know if I will give them one more chance......might have to find another Hawaiian joint around here read more

You have a great view of the water, a small selection of indoor seating, and a series of benches and tables to sit outdoors on a hot day. I'll be honest, I was won over with the reviews saying that Roxy's had kalua pig, and I was disappointed when I arrived and it wasn't on the menu. But that's okay, Roxy's, I forgive you. Your shoyu chicken made up for it. Shoyu chicken, people! I wasn't even sure this was a true Hawaiian dish that existed beyond my grandmother and mother's kitchens. But, it DOES, and it was so good here! The chicken was shredded, nicely flavored, and so tender. I devoured a plate of it with white rice and mac salad. My baby shared it with me and gave it (especially the mac salad) a major thumbs up! I got a plate of the loco moco to go for a friend, and he really enjoyed it. The portions are very generous for the money. The atmosphere here was comfortable and inviting. It seemed like this was a popular local place, especially for take out. I was happy that they had highchairs, even though it's not a very large dining area. I'm not sure when or if I'll be back in Tualatin, but if I am, I am coming back to Roxy's! read more

JP was craving Hawaiian, so we checked out Roxy's. We were surprised to see on Yelp that there weren't any Hawaiian restaurants that open in the Portland Metro before eleven. Learning that particular fact last weekend just makes me cherish the Hawaiian restaurant Saimin Says (http://www.yelp.com/biz/saimin-says-kent) in Kent, WA all the more. Saimin Says is open every day at eight and they serve breakfast. For a weekend breakfast/brunch, we think nothing of driving down from Seattle to eat at Saimin Says, which currently is my favorite restaurant anywhere. Order at the counter and they will either bring your food out or call your name when it's ready. We noticed that Roxy's menu is pretty compressed, but we did see several chicken dishes and a few beef dishes, plus one noodle broth dish. I didn't see Kahlua pork, and would have ordered it if I'd seen it. Is it only available on certain days of the week? JP went with the Sweet Garlic Chicken and I ordered the iconic Loco Moco. For sides, JP asked for French fries and I requested Fried Noodles. The fries, a hybrid between shoestrings and steak fries, were excellent. The Fried Noodles had an interesting spice flavor that was decent (Five Spice?) but the noodles were just too salty. The Sweet Garlic Chicken, served with rice, was fine, though rather salty. And, because the chicken was deep-fried, the dish was very rich. You will be filled when you have eaten everything on that plate. My Loco Moco, which came with rice, a fried egg and two meat patties was good. I liked the smoky barbecued flavor of the meat. Would we come back? We might. read more

Tualatin already has a wildly successful teriyaki grill (Mashita's) and okay Hawaiian restaurant (Aloha Grill) and yet I think Roxy's will do just fine. Let's start off with the price. Really inexpensive bento boxes and plates. They offer cans of Pepsi products and Hawaiian juices. The choice of sides include white rice, noodles and mac salad and all are good, with the mac salad being my personal favorite. Roxy's has only been open a couple weeks and it still feels like it is ramping up and working out the kinks. They took over the corner location at the Tualatin Commons (formerly Bush Garden), but haven't put their stamp on the building. The walls are stark white, the booths are worn and they haven't set up outdoor seating along the lake. I really hope they paint the walls and add a little Hawaiian flair to the surroundings. I've already visited three times and even though there have been service issues every time, they have been handled beautifully. On my first visit, they were training the cashier. You can tell a lot about a business when you see an owner interact with a new employee and it was very nice. On the second visit, it was during the Tualatin Crawfish Festival and they were slammed. They handed out cookies as people were waiting for their food. A group of Yeeps visited for a UYE lunch this week and five of us ordered the Kalbi chicken, so they needed to cook a new batch. The wait was long, but they delivered two heaping bento boxes filled with their most popular item, Shoyu chicken, to our table to share. Not a nibble, full plates of food. And of the three entrees I've eaten, I think the Shoyu is my favorite. The Sweet Garlic Chicken was a little too much for me. So Roxy's not only offers the cheapest lunch in town, but some of the most gracious service. Now, I'm a fan of Mashita's, but it can be downright unpleasant to walk in, order and dine in the restaurant. You are always competing for seats and it is not a relaxing experience. So I'm happy that I have Roxy's as an alternative. Due to the increasing crowds I see with each visit, they may also be grabbing some of Mashita's customers. Our Island friend Gabe M. ate here last week. The story goes.... talking to the owners when after his first bite he sighs, pauses & says, "I'm sorry, I have to stop for a second while I experience a gastronomic orgasm!" His conclusion- Roxie's had the best Hawaiian food since he left the Islands. That was a good enough recommendation for us to try it out too. After all as a high school student, my wife Kathy lived in Hawaii also. Her conclusion- she totally agrees this is the best Hawaiian she's had in Portland. We ordered 2 items off the menu plus one special request combination plate which they handled no problem. Loco Moco, Short Ribs and Combo Kalbi Chicken-Kalbi Ribs. Our meats were the most tender we've had at any Island place in the Metro area. Owner Greg told us how each has it's own home made dry rub to begin with, then are marinated for 4 days in their top secret fruit infused blend. We loved being seated outside on the waterfront. 75 degrees and beautiful was perfect. If our grandsons had been here they could've easily played in the fountain next door while we ate. Friendly servers brought our food to us. The owner Greg joined us for lunch. He dropped some gems along the way. "Hawaiians don't eat til they're full, they eat til they're tired!" Greg says they always want customers to have enough food that some had to be packed to go. As commentary on Kathy's Loco Mocos, he informs us the gravy is made daily from scratch, and the burgers are always fresh hand thrown meat never frozen patties. Kathy gave a hearty endorsement to the dish. My mixed plate was equally good. Meats were the tenderest of any I've had in Portland. The ribs were a perfect medium with a little red in the centers. My total bill amazed me, $17.99 for Loco Moco and combo diner plate with 2 Diet Pepsi's. That is what I usually pay for 1 plate at our neighborhood Noho's Cafe. Greg's explanation- "We want to keep our food affordable. We serve on paper so we can do that. We have a limited menu, but try to add special things from time to time." Coming soon, Greg promises a Happy Hour Menu with special "Pupus" (think Hawaiian Tapas or Dim Sum). He's bringing in a special chef just for that. Though they have a fairly limited menu (~7 meat dishes including sweet garlic chicken, kalbi chicken, orange chicken, and the obligatory shoyu chicken), I was able to sample a few of them and all were good enough to be selected for lunch, but the sweet garlic fried chicken won me over. Large cuts of white meat chicken, dipped in a THICK batter, and perfectly deep fried (with the exception of a couple massive pieces that were too big to cook evenly). And the sauce was quite delicious, too: plenty of garlic flavor balanced with a generous amount of sugar The mac was well above average compared to most of the stuff in Portland (which is usually swimming in mayo). My biggest complaint is, sadly, da sauce...every good hawaiian shack needs a sweet sauce that is 10x better than soy sauce that goes on rice and any meat to make it better! But alas, this was bland and runny (I like mine slightly viscous). The best places (like Local Boyz in Corvallis) have Da Sauce that's so good, they sell it on its own! Roxy made a dream come true for me when their 2nd location opened this week. 3 miles from my house will be quite useful, thank you very much. My previous review of their Beaverton location holds up pretty well as far as the food goes. They recently added Sweet Garlic Chicken at both locations, and I do believe that is my new favorite. It is similar to their orange chicken (also excellent), but a bit sweeter and has a nice garlic infusion. Like the sign says, this stuff "broke da mouth." This will be ordered at each visit, guaranteed. The other items they are known for are available here as well, although I can't be sure they have their amazing teriyaki burger on this menu. Looks like I will have to return tomorrow to be sure. Shoyu chicken, orange chicken, loco moco, noodles, it's all good. Oh, along with the same delicious food, they have the same cheap prices. A substantial plate lunch is about $6.00 and bento is about $4.00. The atmosphere at this location is quite nice. It's more spacious and light than the other location and sits on that small community lake (pond?) in Tualatin that I don't know the name of. There are tables outside and it would be a great place to enjoy your meal. As with the original, they have great music playing. It's worth noting, they hire great people to work at Roxy's. These are some friendly folks that want you to be a return visitor. That is nice in itself, but once you try the food, you'll be back anyway. read more

This is a great place for fast tasty food and good customer service. There are plenty of healthy options here if you add extra steamed veggies to your order. I love the calm atmosphere with the tropical decor and Hawaiian music. There is a view of the man made Tualatin lake to look out onto with plenty of birds on it and people walking dogs. In the summertime you can eat outside but in the winter time there are plenty of windows inside for you to still enjoy the views. read more

Three of us ate at Roxy's today for $23. That is a HUGE bargain considering the quality of food and the generous portions. We ate lunch at a Panda Express last week (out of sheer desperation due to slim restaurant pickings and severe hunger pangs) and paid more than that for lukewarm, mediocre chain food! The counter service is very friendly, the menu selection is fantastic and there is patio seating overlooking a play area with a fountain for the kiddos and a pond with ducks swimming by. Pretty serene setting! We ordered 3 lunch plates...the hubby had a Katsu chicken plate, my daughter had orange chicken and I had a combo plate of half garlic chicken and shoyu chicken. Each plate came with 2 scoops of steamed rice and a scoop of mac salad. The orange chicken was extra crispy as was the Katsu. The garlic chicken had just a subtle garlic kick and the shoyu was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The mac salad had crunchy bits of carrot and sliced green onions throughout. Everything we ordered was seasoned well, cooked fresh to order and was served up with a smile.
