Turns out it was actually ~$5 from the pharmacy (his aide put in the prescription wrong). The ointment wasn't working after several days so I made the discovery via Google. What dermatologist makes a mistake like this!? So that obviously left a bad taste in my mouth. On top of that, my ask for him to take a look at a mole on top of my head led him to prescribe a separate ointment for pimples which I did not ask for. Not the best manner either, just wants to get out of there quickly. Would not recommend.

An absolute JOKE, the most absurd "medical office" I have ever had to deal with!! Having dealt with neck eczema since childhood, I decided to make an appointment there to get a prescription for a cream that had worked well in the past (unfortunately none of behind the counter cream work for me) . The visit took less than 5 minutes, I didn't expect anything more as I was essentially there to get a new prescription for a cream I was familiar with. I got my prescription, paid for the visit out of pocket and was on my way to the local pharmacy. This is where it gets interesting, 8 months later, being out of town (without cream) and having lots of eczema in the neck area causing major discomfort, I called the dermatologist office asking if they can could maybe call in a prescription to a local pharmacy. After being on hold for almost 30 minutes, The person who finally got on the phone asked eme when was the last time I had seen the doctor to which I responded last year. She then proceeded to tell me that if it had been over a year, that I would need to come see the doctor to get a new prescription. She pulled up my file which showed that I had been there 8 months ago and claimed that I would need to see the doctor anyways because it had been too long since my last visit. The woman just got done telling me that a doctor visit would be needed if it had been over the year, but when she realized that it was only 8 months decided to make up a story about the fact that she didn't mean a year, but a few months. For a physician to completely change their so called "policy" within the span of 30 seconds, utterly lying to a patient just to get a paid visit out of it is totally disgraceful, immoral, and unacceptable. The most absurd medical experience! There are LOTS of fantastic physicians in Manhattan, stay away from this place!!!!! Following this review, Dr Avshalumova found nothing better to do than creating google pseudonyms to review a business venture I'm involved in. The place is packed with 20-30 smelly old people, and the waiting area opens right out to the elements, so every time the door opens, freezing wind blows in. Staff from his office and other offices in the building smoke right outside his door, so the smelly smoke also blows in. So just imagine the triple-threat of ice cold smoke filled air, mixing with the smelly old people B.O. Yuck! As for the doctor... very odd bedside manner. His attempts at humor, to defuse the frustration of waiting almost 3 hours, did not help at all! Only made me more angry. Apparently he thinks hes a funny wise guy. He's not! What followed was a masterclass in how not to run a medical office. I sat there for 35 minutes while two patients who arrived after me were taken in before me--without a word of explanation. In addition to the frustration of the wait--there was a lack of basic communication. The first acknowledgment didn't come until nearly 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, and even then there was no clear explanation. A simple "we're running behind" or "we made a mistake" would have gone a long way. Instead, it was a vague "he should be ready any minute". At 4:30, after watching others jump the line, I left. Yes, they apologized--but only after the damage was done. Why did they take two people before me. It was clearly a mistake, but I had already been waiting 25 minutes. An apology doesn't give me my time back which is valuable. For what it's worth, the physical space didn't inspire confidence either. The office is subterranean--below street level--and has a somewhat cave-like feel. It's small, a bit run-down, and the window AC unit doesn't help the overall impression. Mistakes happen. What matters is how they're handled. In this case: no communication, no ownership, no urgency. And a doctor who clearly thinks his time is more valuable than his patients. First impressions matter--especially in healthcare. This one ensured I won't be back. If you enjoy waiting and having your time disrespected, this might be your place. This whole experience has been nothing but frustration, I wish I never would have been referred to this office. EDIT: Tattoo removal is not like other procedures as there is less of a guarantee that it will actually work. As I was already advised that the tattoo was at the "best it's going to look" by other professionals, why would I take the chance and gamble $335 that you may say the same thing? I was just trying to get a consultation, not a scam ($335 is exorbitant). He was able to remove all of these blemishes without any scarring. I also have some skin issues on my arms which he prescribes some creams for. I see some other people have concerns with billing, but I have not had any issues because my insurance covered all of my medical issues and lab work we have done. I suppose others should double check their insurance coverage / deductibles / max out of pocket for the year.
