I have a tattoo that I have had numerous laser procedures on, but there is still a faded mark. I was advised by my dermatologist to see Lumos. However, when I called, I was told there was a $335 consultation fee that may be applied to future procedures, if I decide to use his office. Those are a lot of "IFS" for $335. I was told I could take a picture and get an evaluation over the phone. I took the picture did all of my due diligence and sent it in, only to be told I did have to come into the office and pay the $335. This whole experience has been nothing but frustration, I wish I never would have been referred to this office. EDIT: Tattoo removal is not like other procedures as there is less of a guarantee that it will actually work. As I was already advised that the tattoo was at the "best it's going to look" by other professionals, why would I take the chance and gamble $335 that you may say the same thing? I was just trying to get a consultation, not a scam ($335 is exorbitant). As I mentioned earlier, I'm upset that I was even referred to this doctor and as you can clearly see by his comment - he's more interested in money than helping people. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Chien for about 4 years now. He helped me initially with medication for my Acne, but I have since gone back for various issues including mole and cyst removal. He was able to remove all of these blemishes without any scarring. I also have some skin issues on my arms which he prescribes some creams for. I see some other people have concerns with billing, but I have not had any issues because my insurance covered all of my medical issues and lab work we have done. I suppose others should double check their insurance coverage / deductibles / max out of pocket for the year. read more

In short, inadequate doctor with bad front desk people. I saw Dr. Chein. Doctor: asked me to start spironolactone for acne. Been on it for 4 month with no improvement. When I saw him again at 3rd month, without taking a look at my acne or asking anything question, he told me to double the doses for everything he prescribed (pill & cream). Well guess what, it still didn't work and give me a very fragile stomach that landed me in ER a few weeks ago. Also, I never spent more than 5 mins with him in the office. Front desk: never answered the phone they listed on the website. When I asked for their direct number, the lady at the front desk gave me a attitude that's shouting "wow you are too much trouble". Billing: the billing they sent me and the billing statement on their website are not the same. I called the billing department, and it turned out they outsourced the billing. No one returned my call. I would love to support a fellow Asian doctor's business, but man you disappointed me. read more

Dr. Khalil is wonderful. His bedside manner is bar none, and more importantly, he is an expert in his work. He's the dermatologist you need to resolve your skin situations, and is worth visiting even if you're coming from far. What makes me want to see him again is how patient he was with all my questions. His staff, including Justin and his physical assistants, are kind and friendly. Only negative was the long wait, but it was the end of the day, so he was probably backed up from previous appointments. I convinced myself for 9 years, my neck bloat was just water weight. It was FAT! I went to Lumos Dermatology after seeing a few before & after photos for Kybella treatment online in Manhattan. I really am so happy I did this with Dr. Peter Chien. I was nervous just to see a blue magic marker on the table. Dr. Chien made me feel comfortable, I had 30 itty bitty little hairline shots into my neck, went about my day and had dinner with friends, as they made fun of me doing this treatment. After the swelling went down, about 3-4 weeks, my friends started to monitor and judge if it really worked. 3 months later, WOW! Now they claim "That is not fair." I went back a second time, after sending in some photos to Dr. Chien, asking if it was possible to go even more tighter. After he examined me and felt thoroughly around my neck area, he recommended only 1/4 treatment needed. He could have very easily charged me full price. I would never know the difference. NOT only am I feeling more confident with a revitalized, healthy, youthful appearance, but I can also BREATHE easier in dress shirts and bow-ties, no lies, no muffin top story...on my bow tie glory. My eyes used to look tired and I had Botox, lasers, RF microneedling, and fillers done, and there was some result, but some deep crevices were still there. But then Dr. Chien wanted me to try PRP and after just one day, there is already a huge difference, thank you! Lumos Dermatology is a really solid practice. I needed to visit the dermatologist to get a wart removed. It was easy to schedule an appointment, the wait time was quick and efficient, and I was in and out of my first appointment really quickly. I visited Dr. David Khalil, whose bedside manner was friendly and calming. He also asked me if I had other questions and concerns and was very thorough with answering my questions. I scheduled a follow up for two weeks later. The second time I visited, I waited 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time but I will only mark one star off because of it because everyone in the practice apologized profusely and I was out of there pretty quickly after seeing Dr. Kahlil. I would definitely recommend this place for dermatology, I felt comfortable and enjoyed the ease my appointments here. read more

After getting the 5th compliment on how great my skin looks today, I had to leave a review of Lumos Dermatology! Hands down the best experience I have ever had at a doctors office. There was barely any wait, I just had to check in, and Dr Chien is incredibly smart (what else would you expect from an MD - PhD who now teaches at Harvard and has his own lab?) and yet down -to-earth (where do you find that in nyc?) He recommended a fraxel laser treatment and he did a light treatment because I told him I couldn't have more than a few days of downtime. He was so approachable that I asked him about vaginal rejuvenation, something I never imagined I would feel comfortable asking about. Just so happens he had that laser too and I had both done that same day! It's two weeks out and I feel great. My friend, who is an aesthetician, was staring at me and just asked me what was I doing that my skin glowed! I am so excited that I found this place. And it has Saturday hours! Worst experience ever! I go in for a 2nd appointment to get a wart removed and they have run out of the nitrogen gas. I'm told no worries come back when you are in the area - I AM NEVER IN THE AREA! I was billed for services that were not rendered came back another time and was billed yet AGAIN. I have called Lumos Dermatology and left numerous voicemails to try and fix this along with their billing company. They took off the cost for the procedure but still billed me the copay - for a visit that should have never happened! I have spent untold amount of wasted time trying to get this fixed with no response from them. read more
