I love buffets and go to them all the time. I was at the fete music hall to see wrestling and was in the mood for Chinese buffet after. This buffet was only about 5 minutes away. It was late (around 8:30pm) on a Sunday night. The place wasn't packed but there was a good amount of people there. What kind of irritated me was they sat me off in a corner away from the other people. I don't know why they did this, it must have been because I came by myself. The seating area isn't small but not as big as most buffets. They had about 8 double sided buffet tables plus the hibachi and sushi area. For soda they have Pepsi products and more but no Mountain Dew (picture included). I didn't try everything but I did come close to trying about 3/4 of what was there. What really stood out was the golden fingers and the buffalo wings. Yes that's right the buffalo wings from a Chinese buffet were actually good. They weren't crispy but they had a really good flavor. It was like a honey buffalo flavor and it soaked through the skin so there was sauce in the chicken too. If I remember correctly I think I also liked the mashed potatoes. The sushi was ok, not that great. The oysters were good. What I didn't like was how they put the sushi and oysters after the hibachi almost like they were trying to hide it. That definetly worked on me seeing I didn't notice the sushi and oysters until after I was full. One more thing, I really liked the coconut chicken, nigiri, mini clams, and the mussels. At every buffet I go straight for the coconut shrimp but they didn't have it here. I just wish they also had coconut shrimp. The crab legs weren't that good. They have soft serve and I tried the strawberry kind. It was ok. I probably wouldn't come here often like when I'm in the mood for buffet but I will probably come when I go to wrestling at the music hall. If you like buffets I would recommend giving this one a try if you're looking for a change. If you don't go to buffets often there are better buffets out there. Sky in Milford is my go to just because of the large amount of oysters they have included in the buffet and some of their regular buffet food is good too. read more

Great place for a quick lunch and a few drinks with friends and family. The prices are always reasonable and the wait staff is quick to get you seated. There are certain foods that are great and other foods that were not so great , but that comes with the territory of eating at any buffet. I actually enjoy this place very much and would recommend it if your looking for something fast and affordable. read more

Can I call it 3.75 stars without going to 4? That's about where it rates. After a recent stay at a hospital on my way out I decided the food there needed to be topped by something else, something more fulfilling. At Royal Buffet, you get a large selection. If you play it right you could realistically sit there from open to closing as long as your stomach can handle it. I only knew about this place from the previous reviews on here. Needed to try something new as Hometown and HK Buffet have been visited enough times. Did I need a bib to contain myself? No. It didn't quite happen like that, but like I said, after consuming hospital food for a day I think these 2 previous reviews were accurate in every way. Lots to choose from, the interior was kept well maintained for the most part. Recommended if you're going for a different buffet. For the price, I think it was $7.95 for lunch... difficult to beat that. The pizza seemed out of place out there, but I was happy with everything else consumed. read more

First off I want everyone to know i want to give this place no stars but I'm forced to give them something. Me and my family come here often. At least once a week. The food was okay up until tonight (02/08/19) while sitting down waiting for our 7.99 per pound crab legs. They finally came out and they were still FROZEN. We called the waitress over and she told us it wasn't her. So we asked for the manager. The manager came over and felt the crab and even he knew it wasn't cooked. So they brought them back and made new ones. We are always treated with disrespect and attitudes when we are sat in the main lobby. When we are seated by the bar all the employees are great and attentive. This place is horrible. All in all. Employees suck. Their attitudes are trash. They don't give a shit and than when they are in the wrong you have to be ignorant just to get someone to understand. me and my girlfriend and her dad go to this place sometimes and we went there last week and we got home and we all had food poison and we called the next day to get a refund and they said there was no manager there to call back in 15 mins we did still not there they said we called back a hour later same thing we called the next day still not there we went there today to give one last try. the food was still crap and we asked to talk to a manager and they did not care at all. they where talking about us to there staff. after 45 mins the manager showed up he was rude did not care and said we do not want you here no more/ the bathrooms have crap all over the walls sinks do not work food has bugs in it and hair. the staff talks about you and stays near your table till you leave they rush you to eat. and they are racist DO NOT EAT HERE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. read more

Mediocre in both taste and offering, plus the dinner buffet (which had nothing "special") was $12. The General's chicken was slathered in sauce, the egg rolls were bland, and the sushi was pretty tasteless. The staff was great, though, and the place was nice. The real draw is the sushi and sashimi. The sushi chef is very good and make your order to your specifications. In love the salmon sashimi and tofu skin sushi with shrimp. The wait staff is a little nutty. Most are from Fuzhou in Communist China, but for the most part, they're ok. read more

I've been coming here for several years. Never really had a problem until tonight. I got pizza it was raw, figures ok let me wait for the next one to come out. Got pizza again. Raw so I bought it to the managers attention, he wa sitting there arguing with me saying the pizza wasn't raw they used to much oils that was not the case just because the cheese was melted doesn't mean the pizza is cooked. As far as I know, there isn't a Chinese buffet with any Michelin Stars, and if there were this wouldn't be one of them, but as Chinese buffets go this one is pretty good. They have a great selection of foods, from Americano fare to dim sum, and the turnover of food, as already mentioned by Marlena G., is reassuring that the food you're eating is relatively fresh and new. One of my favorites is the hibachi chicken w/ onions, it has a great smokey flavor and the onions have a real grilled taste to them. The Chinese donuts are great, not too greasy as donuts go, and with a perfect amount of sugar. There are fresh fruits, tapioca pudding is satisfying and you have to save room for the apple turnover which is very good. Also they had this steak and cheese turnover that was very tastey. The service was very good, after living in the south for a while, where your water or sweet tea never falls below half a glass, I tend to rate service on how empty my glass gets before being asked or just refilled. Mine never got below a quarter of the glass, which I consider pretty attentive, especially considering the place was packed and it's a buffet. I don't think I can give more than 3 stars to any Chinese buffet, it would take meaning away from other reviews I intend to write, but this does get a solid 3 stars, and if all I reviewed were buffets, not only would I be much larger, I would have to give this one a hard 4 out of 5. read more

Friend took me here , raving about place. I've never been to a Chinese buffet that is decent. So I didn't expect much. That said, Ive returned many times in a few months, and my other friends agree that it a couple of steps above the norm. The shrimp they use actually taste close to shrimp. The coconut chicken is very good. And the Mongolian grill offers the choice of a real cut of steak that actually taste somewhat good. The strawberry cake in the cooler is superb. Other items, well the beef is typical, and other than the dumplings, I didn't see anything worth switching from the shrimp items. They do have lots of seafood varieties not seen elsewhere-like mussels, crawfish, quohaogs---but only my green beret friend tries them. read more

I love this place. The first buffet where I don't feel 5 inches of grease on my pallet after eating there. The (limited) but made fresh to order sushi is a plus. After reading the reviews, I was very excited to try the Royal Buffet. When I arrived, I was guided to a booth with 2 leather torn seats. The paper placemats where wrinkled, as in either used or placed on a wet table. I was somewhat dissapointed but given the price, I was willing to keep an open mind. The restaurant has about 8 buffet trays filled with a variety of items. The first buffet tray was filled with fried items, wings, egg rolls, strange pastries, and 4 types of soup. The second buffet tray was filled with jello, fruits, and pickled vegetables. The third buffet was filled with rare beef (carve yourself), ham mold (??), mystery meats, and so on. The fourth buffet was filled with plaintains (tasted sour?), and other miscellaneous. The fifth buffet was filled finally with favorite chinese dishes. Unfortunately the pepper beef was RAW, but seared on the outside. Probably designed to cook slowly over a few hours. At that point, I realized I might be sick because I had eaten 5 pieces. The last few where unusually chewy so I took them out of my mouth and looked at them. RAW. ugh.... I ate a few chinese donuts and quickly left. The seafood tasted off and the eel was kept in a LARGE pile on a toaster oven plate that went from toaster oven (for 30 secs) to FRIDGE.... Watch the "sushi chef" - a chinese woman with little english, who slaps fish on rice and "rolls" up the mashed mess! I not only question their safe food handling practices, I question if I might actually be poisoned! I got really scared at eating anything with mayonaise, etc... I pity the fool who eats here. Came here during lunch service and the food was just ok. Not the best or worst buffet but solidly in the middle. They serve standard Chinese American food and a small selection of sushi items. All the food I tasted was hot and seemed fresh. I noticed that the staff was good at replenishing the food, so there weren't many stale looking items left sitting out. A few things were bland, but most were pretty good. The atmosphere can get a little loud at times though. But, overall, it's a good place for family dining, if said family is not too fussy about their Chinese food. read more

The food was bland and over cooked in many cases. The hot and sour soup was neither hot or sour. The general t's chicken was bland and tough. I am not a Sushi fan so I can't speak about the sushi bar. The security guard parked by the front door makes you wonder. This is a tough one. Location is close, price is decent, selections are abundant..., but it feels like a prision cafeteria with the other restaurant goers that you find there. The plaza itself is pretty rough....I mean, you have homeless, panhandlers, ....mothers either dragging babies around by the arm or not walking near their babies (in traffic) at all... loud, vulgar conversations .... just a scary place to eat. The chicken teriyaki and egg rolls are amazing and not greasy at all, and you dont find coconut chicken or green and red bell pepper sushi just anywhere. I come here every so often and I am never disappointed. There is a good variety of food. My favorite dish is the coconut chicken. The hibachi chicken is also delicious. I usually only eat a little because I like to go hardcore on the crab legs. They never leave the pan empty for too long of a time. The crab legs are usually piled high and steamy! The place is always loaded with some interesting people being that it is located in a multicultural part of the city! Overall the food is always fresh and the staff is always quick and friendly. I would avoid going to this place at all costs. Some foods turn out colder than it should (ex. Cold room temperature chicken, which promotes the growth of bacteria). I have always felt that this place is dirtier than it should, and a friend of mine who turns out to be going to school to be a chef, pointed out a few mishaps in terms of food temperature, hygiene, and food layout. As a chef myself, yes the food is buffet food, and trash. But as a person this restaurant is literally worse than trash. The food is ill cooked, the cleanliness is horrid and the service is the WORST. Simply put your servers will be spotty, dodging you, and bring you the check after 20 minutes and demand a tip.
