Fried chicken pita
Tommy L.

Whistled so loud the chef heard me in the back. Will be here again it was sooo good. The food was very fresh and quick

Dry pickles, rubber meat.

Corned beef sandwich is chewy like rubber, completely inedible , I called the store to complain about the inedible sandwich and was met with hostility from a store employee, bad business, horrible sandwich.

3 piece Catfish with styrofoam attached plate with hot cold slaw and onion rings. 13 dollars! Unbelievable!

Horrible restaurant, I just had the worst experience of my life here. I have ate here many times as a kid. Who wants to eat hot coleslaw and not get what they asked for. In response I had attitude and no customer service, complimented with a dial tone. I would not even give them .2 stars.

Food is ok for a cheap diner. Wing Dings are amazing. But biscuits and gravy had a sour taste.

We sat at the bar to speed the food along because we were hungry. The bartender, Tristan, was nice and accommodating. I had the Fried Chicken BLT. Ya'll! This was an excellent sandwich. The tomato and lettuce was so fresh and the chicken was so well seasoned. It was absolutely delicious. The perfect sandwich. I'd go back for another one right now but will definitely be returning to this restaurant for that sandwich next time I'm in Detroit.

There is plenty street parking and I saw a sign that they validate parking (a plus for downtown). To note There is a Happy Hour! On arrival all staff are pretty attentive, there wasn't a wait to be greeted and seated by The Eagle team. The food is advertised as all Natural and I must say it was! Food came out pretty quick, nice and hot and crispy chicken that is lightly breaded. Both of my visits were top-notch. The ambiance is a modern beer/food restaurant. The group I was with we tried the 'snack' Burnt ends (B+), combo meal -3 piece drums and 3 piece dark (A+), Fried Chicken BLTsandwhich (A++)-- as mentioned the chicken was outstanding, the sandwich was shared for 2, the bread had a nice crisp too. For the sides sweet potato Crock, mac and cheese, green beans and collars greens-- no complaints! They offer multiple draft beer, cocktails and cocktails. I must say the prices and portions are very reasonable! Needless to say, highly recommend and I will return soon :)

The menu is Turkish and German fusion, which makes when you know how the doner kabob has become a German fast food staple. I've gone a few times now and had consistently great experiences. There a few mainstays, including their doner options. Their lamb doner version is the only one I've found in the US I like (I have to remember to ask without peppers, not a traditional ingredient). Their cocktails are fresh, inventive, and interesting. I've tried a variety, and they do a consistently good cocktail. Supergeil is a reliable go to, good quality, reasonable prices, and great service. I'll be back for their patio season.

From the moment I walked in, the ambiance transported me to a beautiful Mediterranean garden, with its gorgeous tiled floors, lush greenery, and warm, inviting atmosphere. It felt like a refreshing escape right in the middle of Detroit's historic cobblestone streets. It was the perfect setting for a long-overdue reunion with my sorority sisters, and Supergeil was incredibly accommodating, hosting our group of 14 women in the middle of Grand Prix weekend without missing a beat. We kicked off the evening with a few appetizers to share, including the hummus, deviled eggs, and meatballs. Everything arrived quickly and was an instant hit around the table. The standout was definitely the hummus, served with fresh, homemade pita that was unbelievably soft, fluffy, and packed with flavor. The meatballs were also delicious, perfectly tender, juicy, and well seasoned. For my entrée, I ordered the popular lamb and beef döner, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The portion was generous and beautifully presented, overflowing with crisp vegetables, fresh lettuce, garlic sauce, hot sauce, and the most tender, savory lamb and beef. Around the table, others enjoyed the Turkish ravioli with spiced beef and pork, more döner, and a variety of salads. Everyone loved their meals, and we couldn't resist passing plates around to sample a little of everything. It's the kind of restaurant that's perfect for sharing and enjoying with a large group. And what would a girls' night be without cocktails? If you're a fan of Two James spirits like I am, you're in for a treat. The bartenders create incredibly inventive cocktails from a seasonally rotating menu. I stepped outside my comfort zone and ordered the Open Kettle, made with coffee infused Doctor Bird Rum, cola reduction, coconut cream, and Underberg. It was unlike anything I've ever had! It was rich, tropical, complex, and with just the right kick. It's an absolute must try. Another crowd favorite was the Purple Gang, featuring lavender vodka, lemon, and butterfly pea tea, which gave it the most stunning purple hue. To finish the night, we ordered all three desserts to share: the burnt sugar tres leches, strawberries and cream, and the hot brownie with cinnamon ice cream. My favorite was easily the tres leches. It was light, creamy, and perfectly balanced with the crunch of burnt caramel and the subtle sweetness of coconut, it was a creative twist on a classic dessert. The warm brownie with cinnamon ice cream was pure comfort and a chocolate lover's dream, while the strawberries and cream offered a lighter finish with sesame brittle and hibiscus, creating a unique combination that reminded me of an elevated granola paired with a glazed donut cream. From the beautiful atmosphere and attentive service to the creative cocktails and delicious food, Supergeil delivered an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're planning date night, catching up with friends, or celebrating with a large group, it's definitely a spot worth adding to your Detroit restaurant list.

If you want a bar that gives you fun, food, drinks, and a real local crowd vibe all under one roof,…read morethen Second Best in Detroit is absolutely worth the hype. From the second you walk in, it's obvious this place isn't just another bar -- it's a neighborhood hangout with serious personality. The rustic-brick interior and laid-back energy set the tone perfectly for a night out with friends or a chill stop before hitting other downtown spots. The menu is packed with attention-grabbing comfort bar food that goes way beyond typical pub grub -- think flavorful sandwiches, crispy fries, and dishes that pair insanely well with a cold drink. One of the best parts? Wednesday night trivia. It's the kind of event that turns a midweek night into a destination night. Trivia kicks off in the evening and runs until the fun's done, complete with drink specials (like discounted pitchers and fun cocktails) and a crowd that's all about playing hard and laughing harder. Whether you're a regular trivia team or just looking to make new friends, it's a blast and a perfect reason to mark your calendar every week. The drinks lineup here is solid too -- from craft beers on tap to creative cocktails -- and the bartenders know what they're doing whether you're asking for something classic or bold. Honestly, the name might be "Second Best," but this place is easily first in my book for good times, good eats, and good people. If you haven't been yet, trust me -- go get some.

Atmosphere is nice, decor is very cool, and the setting is intimate, but when it fills up, it is quite loud. Regarding accommodations, for our teen daughter, the chef went WELL beyond normal accommodations to modify the Steelhead Trout dish to allow her to enjoy what she called "the best fish I've ever had". He absolutely made her night. We all shared the Brussel Sprouts (w/ honey, lime, & chicken skin) and Octopus appetizers. The Brussels were heavenly and the octopus was flavorful and tender (very nicely prepared). Aside from the Steelhead entrée, my wife and son both had the Ribeye Cap w/ yaji, peanut, & kiwi. They couldn't stop raving about it. The pairing of kiwi with steak was delicious and creative! I ordered the Lobster dish and honestly, it was better than many top tier seafood restaurants I've visited. It featured tail & claw meat atop a crab cake with a citrus beurre blanc and crispy wontons. I'd go back just for this dish. For dessert, we tried the PB&J Napoleon, and found the berry sorbet to be ridiculously fresh and bursting with flavor. Portion sizes were just right. Everyone left well satiated, but not overly full. We had a reservation, and I'd highly recommend if you're thinking of going, you get one as well. It was a full house the entire time we were there, and it was only midweek.

My husband added bacon for $6), and shared a fry (again, expensive $8, but very good and a charnel side for sure) $56 for 2 burgers and 1basket of fries is STEEP. Food was good, not $56 good! Lauren took great care of us and encouraged us to order whatever we were craving. Dangerous advice, but we happily accepted . Warning - the ratings are real. They're not a mistake. We started with our usual cocktail, the Instant Karma (5/5). It is the perfect balance of citrus and salt with a light cucumber note. Clean, refreshing, and it pairs well with everything. The roasted sweet potato (6/5) is one of the best vegetable dishes in the city. The caramelized exterior gives way to a soft interior, and the crispy quinoa adds a subtle light crunch that plays against the creamy texture. The salsa macha brings a smoky, nutty depth without the heat, and the crema ties it all together. I had to physically stop myself from scraping the plate (actually they had to take it away ). The tagliatelle (5/5) with beef bolognese and parmesan was flawless. The pasta has that ideal handmade chew, and the bolognese is rich without being heavy. The parmesan blends perfectly into the sauce and stands out in every bite. The potato pierogi (10/5) were the star of the night. Soft potato-filled pillows with horseradish crema, apple, and crispy shallot pieces create this perfect sweet, tangy, creamy, and crunchy bite. Each forkful felt intentional and balanced. I felt guilty, because in my head, I didn't want to share with my wife, but I did anyways . The cruelty of having to split an odd number of pierogis...well played...we should have just ordered another one. We also ordered the smoked potatoes and the pan roasted half chicken with sauce au poivre (always 5/5 for both) The smoked potatoes, with raclette, and crème fraîche, are always a must. These winter variation was just as good! The chicken remains one of the most consistently well-executed mains in the city. I have tried recreating it at home with the cold pan method and it never comes close. Every time we dine here, it feels like four or five different dinner experiences in one evening. Selden Standard continues to set the bar for us in Detroit. We love the staff, the food, and the memories tied to this place. Cheers to many more amazing years to come!

My husband surprised me with a birthday dinner here, and I'm glad that we got to experience it. We arrived in advance of our reservation and grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender brought us a glass of wine while we waited. It took about a half hour, but we were shown to our table for the night and promptly greeted by our server. All of the food looked amazing, both on the menu and with what people were ordering at other tables. We chose a variety of dishes - cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, squid ink orecchiette, octopus, mushrooms, and scallops. I would recommend all of them, but the standouts for me were the Brussels sprouts and the scallops. Flavors were unique and textures were especially on point with those dishes. Service was good, but we both felt like it was slow. There was a slight glitch in the beginning of the night where the host stand didn't mark that we had checked in when we actually had, which probably contributed to the half hour wait at the bar. Aside from those points, it was an impeccable night!

The wait wasn't too bad even though the restaurant was packed and every table was filled. I ordered the Fried chicken with collard greens and Mac n cheese. The fried chicken was exquisite. It tasted like it had been brined for 24-hours so definitely appreciated that. The collard greens had some vinegar on it and it was sooo good! The Mac n cheese was good as well but it was probably the weaker item of the other food on the plate. The biscuit was good and flaky and tasted even better with the strawberry butter. The oxtails with the red beans and rice was good, but the fried chicken was better. The bread pudding was good but different. I'm used to bread pudding being served hot with vanilla or butter pecan ice cream sitting on top of it. Their bread pudding was served cold with a whipped substance on top. It was okay, but I wouldn't have gotten it if I knew they served it cold. Would've been much better heated up.

While a few interactions felt a bit brisk at times, it didn't take away from the overall upbeat energy. The food was good, with generous portions and rich, comforting flavors. The Chicken & Waffles featured crispy, golden-brown fried chicken with a well-seasoned crust that had a noticeable kick, paired with fluffy waffles that were slightly sweet and soaked up the syrup nicely. The Chicken Omelet was hearty and packed with tender pieces of chicken, melted cheese, and sautéed vegetables, but it also carried more heat than expected, with a lingering spice that built with each bite. While spice tolerance varies, those sensitive to heat may want to take note. Overall, Fixins offers a great atmosphere and solid Southern comfort food with bold flavors. If you're comfortable with some spice, you'll likely have a positive experience.
